No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter 79: Red Lights (Part 9)

Ezekiel was officially processing everything that everyone was doing around him in that precise moment.

Tony Stark used Wade Wilson to gather information on him... That became clear to Ezekiel after his anger got the best of him, but he wasn't sure how to handle what Tony did.

Feeling betrayed was becoming common...

He kept looking away from the group as he processed them all, one by one.

Steve Rogers lectured him. The blonde told him where he went wrong with his "team", but Ezekiel wasn't sure if he agreed with what was said.

He almost told Steve that he was a terrible leader, wasn't going to ever be a leader and that Captain America was wasting his time. Ezekiel tossed Bucky Barnes and Natasha Romanov aside because they were weak and he didn't need them at the time.

He also left Victor's annoying roommate behind as well, and he didn't care to acknowledge that either, or apologize.

The Jackal held onto the thoughts. He noticed Victor's portal. He gave Clint Barton an escape. Ezekiel watched him leave and he watched Victor fail to follow.

It seemed as if Stephen Strange was only there for his brother Victor. Ezekiel hadn't heard his voice, or noticed anything relating to him within his suit.

He looked at him briefly. There was only one other person left to process. Ezekiel heard every word Wade Wilson said. It felt like his words were directed toward him, which was something else he needed to ponder...

How about it? He said. How about...

Ezekiel was also monitoring his suit and directing his technology to make repairs. The "daddy issues" comment made him stop for a moment, but he wouldn't respond.

The entire group seemed to be prying at him for some sort of attention, or something. Ezekiel felt a strange pull from everyone that was there.

"Am I free to leave?"

His voice was still disguised and the Jackal only spoke to Steve Rogers. He wasn't sure why Steve kept pushing him. He kept training him, and trying to make him understand something.

Ezekiel kept looking at him through his suit. He needed to hear if he was actually free. Free to go where was the question, but the Jackal planned to figure it out...

He torched his father's home, but there were others. Ezekiel Stane had unexplored options, but he needed to hear Steve's answer.

"Yes. You are free, but I will be contacting you. Down the road."

Steve answered the question, and Ezekiel slowly closed his eyes. He wasn't sure where to go in that moment, and it felt like another level of his "test" had just been initiated.

They were always testing him, so..

"Do you still live in the Bronx?"

Ezekiel's disguised voice turned in a different direction. Wade Wilson felt acknowledged for the first time in over twenty minutes. Whoa.

"Me?"

Deadpool glanced backward for a moment. Nobody was standing behind him, so that meant Ezekiel Stane was technically talking to him. Talking to him and confirming where he lived?

He lived in the Bronx. Yeah. Well, his main crib was in the slums of New York, but Wade thought it was charming.

He had other places too.

"Yeah, I live there. Do you wanna have a sleepover?"

Wade was down for that. He gave a weird shrug as he answered, and Ezekiel kept inspecting his response beneath his armor.

Uhh, Victor felt a little more than confused. He wasn't sure why Ezekiel randomly asked the person who almost murdered him a question like that.

He didn't say anything else about it either, because he was supposedly "free". Victor almost choked where he stood, because that white suit friggen disappeared.

Ezekiel took off with Wade, and that ridiculous team building exercise finally came to an end...
