Chapter 81: Oxygen (Part 1)
After Victor Strange left the group, the War Room returned to its normal state.
Stephen Strange spoke to everyone that was left, and he mentioned building a home in the Dark Dimension. That meant he would only be supporting Victor, so the group would be seeing him less and less.
Bucky Barnes heard that. He had developed an actual friendship with Stephen over the years, but family always comes first...
The sorcerer even mentioned something similar to that before he said his goodbyes to the rest of the group.
That left Tony, Steve, Bucky and Natasha behind...
The four of them stood in the middle of the War Room, but only one of them had a smile. That person was Tony Stark.
He felt pretty good in that moment. His brain was still buzzing over the morning he had with Steve, but he also felt happy about what he had accomplished.
They caught a glimpse of Ezekiel's true self. His inner rage was put out on display, and Tony documented what he learned.
Thanks to Wade Wilson's unique body and situation, Tony was able to gather some treasure. That black and red outfit Deadpool always wore had been enhanced, so Tony managed to repair the damage caused by Ezekiel as the fight began, and gather samples..
Obviously, Ezekiel caught on. Tony could tell as soon as he stopped attacking Wade. The brunette was reflecting on what he did, until he eventually noticed the other two people in the room.
Charlotte's Web and Bucky fucking Barnes. Wonderful. Tony lol'd.
Steve had his attention directed upward. He was asking the people up in the window if they caught a glimpse of what Ezekiel had become. He wanted to look over the footage again, so he asked.
Of course they retained what happened, that was their job.
Bucky saw it as a dodge. He waited for the diva version of Steve to look over in his direction. Bucky didn't really want to wait around for the upcoming conversation about Tony, but he would if he had to.
"I got your message, Steve."
Remember? It was written all over Tony's neck. Bucky wasn't going to let anyone forget Steve's behavior, and he felt like bringing part of it up right then and there.
The blonde glanced over at Bucky for just a moment. Steve wasn't sure how to approach his best friend's behavior at that point, so he let the comment roll off his shoulder.
Steve was feeling all of that out, and Tony felt very amused with what he was seeing. He said something about going home, and the two of them joining in.
Bucky had to laugh at what he heard. There was no way in any hell he was heading over to Tony and Steve's place. Fuck. No.
That invitation was quickly declined. Bucky only planned on heading home with Natasha, so the final pairs within the group went their separate ways.
