No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter 87: Oxygen (Part 7)

He said...

...

"Wanna know why I didn't kill you?"

...

Ezekiel heard the words, loud and clear. His mind was actually in Manhattan. Victor's actions were affecting him, and he could feel what was going on beneath Clint Barton's skin.

Tony Stark gave Ezekiel the Mind Stone months ago. With that stone, it felt like he had broken open Pandora's box.

He was trying to pull his mind out of the apartment as he stood there with Wade Wilson, but he could see and feel what they were doing.

Charles Xavier once asked him to explain why he chose to let go of Victor and "play the game" that way. The answer overwhelmed Ezekiel more than anything. He said that the risk wasn't in Victor's favor at all, and that he didn't want to watch him die.

The "Jackal" didn't want to let him go, but it was the best move to make. Accepting that would get easier with time. That's what the psychic said.

...

"Did you hear what I said?"

...

Wade wasn't a patient person, but his behavior had altered. Obadiah's "silver dollar" was acting weird. Well, weirder than normal. He asked Ezekiel a pretty simple question, and he was still hiding himself beneath his suit.

He said, wanna know why I didn't kill you?

...

"Yes."

...

Ezekiel wanted to know. His voice was disguised when he finally spoke. Deadpool rejoiced when he got a response. He finally saw some forward movement, and the mercenary wanted to crank it up a notch.

"I'll tell you, if you remove that suit."

Wade even pointed at Ezekiel's armor, but he didn't touch it. His mind was racing with all sorts of ideas about what to do and what to say. Deadpool had quite a bit on his mind when it came to the person he failed to murder.

A cab ride with Steve Rogers even came to mind. Wade started remembering what Captain America said about everyone having the potential of being a "twenty."

Ezekiel felt a little more than warm. Victor's behavior was affecting him, and so was the comment he heard from the person in front of him.

The White "Jackal" wasn't sure what was going on his own mind in that moment, but he wanted to comply. He wanted to know why his life was spared, and why he decided to take Wade away from all the others.

Deadpool friggen freaked out. Suddenly, the armored shell that was surrounding Ezekiel's body clicked open. All of that white "protection" pulled away from the person beneath it, and...

Wade kept looking at the quiet young man. Ezekiel was pretty simple looking, and his hair was light brown.

His skin was a super light shade of brown as well, and it didn't seem like he got a lot of sun. The mercenary wondered what nationality his father was. Wade couldn't remember.

"I didn't kill you, because I heard what you did for the X-Men. You gave them William Stryker."

"That doesn't mean anything. I did what I had to do."

...

Ezekiel had a soft voice. Wade knew all that, but it was interesting to have him there, and to hear him speak without a disguise.

It made him think about something Tony gave him. Wade received a gift from Tony Stark while he was stuck in his lab..

"Well, it means something to me. It made me hesitate with the shot."

Wade felt a bit serious in that moment. There was no clowning around when it came down to William Stryker. Ezekiel played an important part in his demise.

He kept looking at that... silver dollar. Wade began to wonder how his injury had healed, and why he was standing there. Ezekiel started looking around the living room again.

It didn't seem like he wanted to leave. His behavior was interesting. Ezekiel's face even seemed warm.

"Are you hungry?"

Wade figured he had some food, like Mac n' cheese. He hadn't been home since he took the shot. He failed to murder Ezekiel, and he had been held captive ever since.
