No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter 89: Oxygen (Part 9)
Sofia Strange watched her mother place her hands on the ground that was beneath her feet. She said something was trying to reach her, but Sofia didn't really understand.
Spending time in the Dark Dimension was becoming different for her. Sofia was bonding with the people there that looked like her grandfather. The little girl was developing friendships.
Her mother's behavior was pulling her away from the fun of it, but...
Sofia wanted to understand. She stepped toward her mother and she placed her hands on the ground. She started realizing that her father had been gone for a long time.
Sofia asked about him. Clea looked up from the ground as soon as the young girl spoke. There was a war brewing beneath the surface of the Dark Dimension.
It was brought to Clea's attention by an ally named Paradox. He told her that an additional shadow was following Sofia wherever she walked. Clea looked into it, and she could see what was pawing for her from beneath.
Her mother Umar was buried out there. It could have been her, since she was locked away and trapped beneath a powerful spell. Her reach could have been seeping upward, for Sofia.
Stephen was informed as soon as he made an appearance. Clea saw him arrive, but she didn't move.
Well, she couldn't. Their daughter ran to him before she could speak. Clea felt frozen there as Stephen asked his questions. He started speaking to Paradox about the situation, and Clea's father.
The Dark Dimension's "Sorcerer Supreme" was on the case, but Clea couldn't look at him. She managed to stand up after a moment. Clea felt the dark dirt that covered her hands.
Her husband approached her. She looked at his face. Stephen was asking if any of them could see Umar when they touched the ground.
The thought of him having a child with another woman was, devastating. Regardless if it was some other version..
It was the only thought that crossed her mind in that moment, but Stephen carried on as if that aquaintance didn't exist.
Stephen touched Clea's hand. He said they could work together and plague the root. That meant soak the ground with a spell and stop any energy from traveling up.
Clea understood what he meant and what he said. He seemed serious. The situation was serious, but she wasn't afraid.
It seemed like Stephen was there to stay. Clea had been hoping for that for quite a while. She took a moment to look at her hand. Stephen was holding onto it as he spoke.
Clea was a little more than captivated with him. She always had been, so...
"That's a start."
She said. Clea's voice broke up the silence. Stephen was doing what he could to get through to her. He seemed to give a sigh of relief when she eventually spoke.
