Chapter 90: Oxygen (Part 10)

"Wait. Are we hooking up?"

The question really surprised Ezekiel when he heard it. The words woke him up, in a sense, and it made the young man process where he stood.
The "White Jackal" glanced up at the person that spoke to him. The question he heard was ridiculous, but it brought him back to a familiar feeling. He responded quietly as he looked around the living room of a filthy apartment.
"Is that what you want?"
His voice wasn't concealed for once, and he wasn't wearing his armor. Ezekiel chose to reveal himself to the man that tried to take his life. His name was Wade Wilson, codename Deadpool.
Ezekiel's father hired him to take his life, but he missed his shot. The mercenary injured his body pretty badly, but...
"Uh, yes please. Just say the word and it's on."
Another ridiculous comment. Wade seemed very eager in that moment, while Ezekiel kept taking the situation in. They were standing in the middle of "Deadpool's" living room, but they were also standing pretty close.
Ezekiel finally noticed that as he glanced down at a small coffee table. He wasn't entirely sure how he arrived at that point in time, but there they were.
The plans that he carefully constructed were, altering. He wasn't sure why he was there.
Ezekiel pondered that while Wade said something to him about being forgiven. Was he forgiven for his crime? He tried to take Ezekiel's life. The talkative mercenary mentioned something else while they stood there.
Wade Wilson said that he wouldn't hurt him like that, ever again. Ezekiel's focus returned to the merc's mask as he spoke. He was unable to see his face, but he heard a sudden change in his voice.
His voice seemed somewhat serious. Lower. Probably sincere. Ezekiel noticed that Deadpool wasn't hesitant when he spoke to him either. He was used to someone's hesitant behavior, so the change was ...
The mercenary interrupted the thought. He brought his hands up. Deadpool took a risk. His hands stopped just below Ezekiel's ribcage, and right above where he had been injured.
Wade was impatient. He didn't resist the impulse either, so the mercenary also stepped in close. He had a grip on Ezekiel's lower ribs, and that red mask almost touched his mouth.
The advance stopped pretty quickly, and the room became very silent. You could have heard a pin drop in that moment...
Ezekiel thought about shoving something sharp just beneath Wade's jawline. The man in front of him was wearing something with thick material, but the small blade he had would have cut through to his skin.
...
Ezekiel was certainly there for a reason, but the young man had nothing to say. It seemed like he was concentrating, or something. He simply returned any gesture with an amused smile..
Wade was unaware, but Ezekiel's focus couldn't shift. He was there with him in that run-down living room, but his mind was somewhere off in Manhattan.
Clint Barton was being too cautious. Timid. Unsure.
Ezekiel didn't like feeling all the hesitation. I mean, Victor Strange was right there in his arms. Why doubt it? Why fight with it. What the fuck? The Jackal thought of it as him handing over something that was very precious.
That low-level field agent wasn't accepting his gift, so Ezekiel started getting annoyed with him.
He pushed his mind a little more forward. The Jackal took over the archer's body, just as he did a few times when Clint started living in the apartment.
Victor felt it. He could tell immediately when Ezekiel logged into the body that was burning up in front of him. They were on his bed fooling around, then all of a sudden Barton's behavior had changed. He became more forward and a little more aggressive, just like some crime lord that Victor knew.
Victor gasped against the blankets beneath him, because the behavior was pretty unexpected.
He didn't feel in control any longer, but he made no effort to stop what his friendly roommate was doing.
...
"Deadpool" tried to process what was happening. He pondered the change in behavior, but he kept Ezekiel in his grip.
So, how did they reach the moment they were in? The mercenary was in a bit of disbelief. Ezekiel Stane was standing there in his apartment for a reason, right?
"It sure seems like we're hooking up."
Wade felt very confused. He was hoping to score and feel someone that was ranked a twenty, but Deadpool received the cold shoulder instead.
All he was getting was silence.
Ezekiel had very sharp eyes. Cold eyes, and he didn't respond to Wade's clever response at all. The mercenary mentioned something about cleaning his bedroom for him. He said that he "cleaned up good" when he felt like it.
Another joke.
Ezekiel quickly glanced over toward his left hand side. His eyes settled upon a dark brown door, but then he slowly looked away.
He assumed Wade's bedroom was behind the door. His thoughts wandered away from him for a moment there, but then the young man returned to himself.
He started feeling a bit too warm and it felt like he had achieved a bit of freedom in that moment. Ezekiel felt free, for once. Free to go, or free to stay.
"Tony Stark gave me a gift. Would you like to see what it does?"
"Deadpool" wasn't going to guarantee a clean apartment to anyone, but he felt like he needed to offer something up in that moment.
Ezekiel kept his eyes closed after that. He was trying to pull himself out of what his mind was doing in Manhattan, because it was affecting the way he was behaving as he stood there in front of Wade.
"You can show me."
A gift from Tony, curiosity killed the cat. The Jackal started chewing on the side of his own lip, and Wade's jaw suddenly dropped down to the floor. The mercenary was very animated, and he started noticing how warm Ezekiel had become.
