No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter 92: My Sweet Summer (Part 2)

"So, I asked Fury a couple questions before we left."

Steve Rogers was almost done eating his food. Tony was halfway done with his meal, but he forgot about it.

The brunette was bad at stuff like that. They were in the bedroom of Steve's apartment in Brooklyn.

They were chilling, eating sandwiches and playing a game of something called "Go Fish." Tony was winning, because Steve's mind was on something else.

He asked Nick Fury a couple questions. Tony just gave him a playful smile. He kept on looking through the collection of cards that he had in his hand.

"I asked him to talk me through a few files that I stumbled across, about an operation he helped orchestrate."

Oh? Tony glanced up from his cards for a sec. It seemed like Steve was taking all the Bucky and Ezekiel stuff and moving it toward the back burner again.

Steve was digging around some S.H.I.E.L.D. files? And asking around about, what exactly? An idea about it suddenly filled Tony's mind.

"Go fish."

"I haven't asked you for a card."

"So?"

Tony wanted Steve to keep digging. It amused him, and he knew exactly what the blonde was asking Fury about. Steve was just a beautiful, bashful boy from the stone age.

"Operation, Danger Zone? Really?"

Steve laughed out loud as he spoke. The blonde looked through his cards again as he gave Tony a clue. Nicky Fury told him that a different version of himself came to help Tony when he was younger, and the operation had a peculiar name.

Tony didn't know anything about the way S.H.I.E.L.D. labeled their files, but he remembered the ridiculous code names of the people involved.

Bruce Barton came to his rescue, with the assistance of James Romanov. Tony set his cards down for a moment, because he needed to sip some of that cherry coke.

"The files were pretty vague."

There were specific sections of S.H.I.E.L.D. intel, regarding Tony's youth, that Steve couldn't see. It was very protected, and it seemed like they were just brushing the surface of it.

"I've been planning to tell you everything, at the next show."

He wanted Steve to know how everything made him feel. Tony wanted Steve to know what actually happened. You can't get that in a file. The blonde was getting impatient and that was ok.

Tony didn't mind and he felt impatient too. Distractions kept coming in. They both had all this other "stuff" always getting in the way.

The brunette left the cards beside his leg on the bed. Steve could tell that Tony received an alert in that moment. He saw his eyes look over toward the message on a screen.

His technology was still out there, gathering treasure for him.

"You were right about Wade. Good call."

Tony's tech told him everything, and all of the dots connecting from Deadpool to Ezekiel had been orchestrated by Steve.

The blonde gave a small nod. He acknowledged what Tony said and what it all meant.
