Chapter 93: My Sweet Summer (Part 3)
Bucky Barnes decided to take a week off. The conversation he had with Natasha was stressful and he wasn't sure how to translate Steve's behavior at all.
The Tony thing was also draining him, and so was all the S.H.I.E.L.D. related stuff. He told Natasha that he was going to a place called Boracay.
Bucky told her that he saw the history of the area in some magazine once, while he was waiting around…
Her response was dry. She sarcastically told him that going away would definitely fix everything. Bucky really wasn't interested in "fixing" anything, so he just told her to meet him out there if she changed her mind.
He spent two days alone, and the not-so-winter soldier didn't really mind.
It took her two days to head back in his direction. Bucky was almost asleep by the water when Natasha made her way down to the beach.
He was happy to see her. He told her that when she eventually arrived. Something felt off between them, and it always had to do with something "work" related.
Natasha never saw what she did for S.H.I.E.L.D. as a job, and well…
Bucky accepted that a long time ago, but he needed an extended break.
That week off stretched out to three. It almost reached a month away from Brooklyn, but then Bucky Barnes got a phone call.
Steve Rogers tracked him down to a hotel room somewhere on the island. Steve actually called him before his extended vacation had entered its fourth week. Bucky heard Steve ask him how he was doing. He was doing good. That's what he said.
His best friend sounded normal over the phone, but Steve said he was calling everyone in. There wasn't an emergency, or anything like that.
Stevetold him he'd explain himself a bit more when he returned to New York. Bucky said he could be there in a few days.
He almost asked him if it had something to do with Tony, but he didn't. Bucky kept the question to himself, and he hung up the old phone.
