No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter 97: My Sweet Summer (Part 7)
…
So, Wade Wilson had a hard time keeping his hands off Ezekiel. Once he got the OK to move things forward with him, habits formed quick.
The mercenary had to remind himself that Ezekiel was super introverted and way too intelligent, it seemed insane.
He started drawing little cartoons for him during his mental collapse. It seemed to work. Wade had moments of introversion too, but he'd never seen anything like that …
Steve Rogers called and that seemed to spark some progress. Ezekiel returned to himself, in a sense, and he spoke about doing something before they responded to Steve.
Ezekiel said he wanted to go to Stane International and tell everyone in the building to leave.
They're all fired. That's what he said.
"That's your dad's weapon manufacturing, place. Yes?"
"It was. He's dead."
Ezekiel had been contacted about it long ago. Back when he lived with Victor. The "jackal" never did anything about that. He finally felt ready.
"The spineless board and a handful of lawyers are waiting for me to play of fold. Sink or swim."
He decided to sink it and begin again. Ezekiel wanted every engineer within the building gone as well. They knew what they were doing and they had no spines.
"Do you want me to go with you?"
Wade was creating another cartoon. Ezekiel was beside him on a messy bed. It still seemed weird to be there, but it got easier.
Being with him became easier. It felt better, after a while. Ezekiel processed the question. He watched him draw the silly picture for a while. Wade was an excellent illustrator, and Ezekiel almost let him know it.
"I could protect you, when you're out there. I know more than half of the people that want you dead."
He was a mercenary after all, and mercenaries talk. Wade's behavior became a little more serious for a second. He looked at Ezekiel and he noticed the expression on his face.
"You will need a bodyguard out there in the wild, and, I want to protect you."
Wade Wilson was offering up his services for a couple of reasons. Some of it had to do with what Ezekiel did for the X-MEN, once upon a time.
The other reasons had something to do with the two of them hooking up. The mercenary wasn't interested in that ending anytime soon. It felt best to keep Ezekiel alive and somewhat happy.
Obadiah's son was obviously contemplating what he heard. He looked kinda happy and flattered in that moment. Wade thought about it as he looked at his face.
"I'll think about it."
That's all Ezekiel could really say. Everything that was happening felt like it was a work in progress. There were things he liked, and things he didn't… so the Jackal held onto the thoughts that he had on his mind.
Wade gave him a playful smile. Ok, so, he was left on read for the moment. The mercenary wasn't known to be a patient man, but he decided to pump the brakes for a sec.
