Year 4 Slays... Wow, there was a lot to get through in the original books. And the movies for Harry Potter really didn't make them any less of a downer in my opinion. But I am going to have some different changes in my crossover. For one, Cedric ain't dying. Instead, he's gonna be Val's drudge, maybe her first sired vampire if possible. Second change, I'd like to imagine what if Henry hadn't been bitten by Vlad in the original books. Would they still be friends? I say 'yes'. So I'm keeping the friendship between them. Third change, Otis will be appearing in this entry because Val has only mentioned him in passing before, so he deserves an entry. Fourth, Joss is gonna be older so it would make a little more sense for him to be assigned for a Slayer mission, like in his late teens. Fifth, I'm making Val the person forcefully chosen by the Goblet of Fire, this way it adds some mystery as to why someone would choose her. There'll probably be more changes as I go on, so for now, let's get this party started! (pulls Disclaimers in)

Tackling one of her friends away from a blast of magic... getting a stake through the back... that same friend offering his blood to her...

The iridescent purple eyes of the young Dhampir snapped open as she laid in bed, drenched in a cold sweat. This nightmare had been plaguing her for many nights now, ever since the rescue of Sirius Black the previous year and her week in the hospital wing. Danger had lurked around every corner in her dream, but that was just make-believe, right? It couldn't be a coincidence, could it?

Valerie Tod slowly crawled out of the bed she was currently sleeping in while she and her mother's old friend, Nelly, and her own best friend from Ilvermory, Henry McMillan, spent part of the summer holiday at the Malfoy Manor on invitation from Val's own Hogwarts friend, Draco Malfoy.

Val had started her Hogwarts adventures the previous year with handling escapee Sirius Black, learning of his story and innocence, all the while making new friends as she completed her studies for that year. But nothing was going to prepare her for this year at all.

Val gently touched the Elysian Code inscribed on her wrist, the (I\\\I) that stood for her initials, V.T., and looked at herself in the mirror, getting a surprise as she saw her eyes flashing a brilliant purple. Confused, she touched her markings again and saw her eyes glow brightly once more. "What the...?" Chills went down her spine as she thought over what this could mean for her.

Suddenly, as if snapping her out of her thoughts, the door opened as Henry peeked his head inside. "Hey, they got breakfast ready, Val."

Val looked over at her blonde friend quickly and nodded. "Uh, yeah. I'll be right down."

He nodded and disappeared through the door once again.

She sighed softly and shook her head, getting dressed in her best apparel for the Quidditch World Cup. Oh boy, the World Cup. She was curious to see what the outcome for this year was gonna be like, but also a little nervous about it. Another of her friends from Hogwarts, Harry Potter or the Boy Who Lived, had written a letter to her over the past week describing a dream he had experienced, and as she tied her hair back, she looked over the letter once again.

Dear Valerie,

I hope you're doing alright. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia are more unbearable than before. I'm glad I'm spending the summer with Ron and his family. It'll be nice to get to see you again too.

There's something I need to talk with you about. I've been having these odd dreams lately, about an old house. Voldemort was there, but he wasn't quite human. Wormtail was there too, and so was D'ablo. But someone else was there as well, someone I couldn't recognize. This may have to do with the visions you've been getting lately and if so, I think we're in for another rough ride at Hogwarts. Let me know what you think as quickly as possible. I'd really like to get your input.

Thanks,

Harry

She had since written a letter back to him, explaining her thoughts about the topic and her idea of asking her own uncle for assistance on the matter. Otis was not only a vampire, but a well-known Auror in his own right. He worked for MACUSA, or the American Magical government, so if Val needed anything to discuss with her, he always answered her telepathic calls. She was definitely gonna need his help for this one though.

After breakfast, the three tens followed Nelly and Lucius out to the backyard where the trio of students saw the lamp nearby.

"Are we going by Portkey?" Val was a little hesitant about Portkeys because while it was a quick way to travel like with Apparition and vampire speed, it still left her with a nauseous feeling like Floo Powder travel.

Draco nodded. "Probably one of the better ways of getting somewhere besides Floo Powder."

She shrugged a little, seeing his point, and grabbed one end of the lamp next to Henry as Nelly smiled. "Ready! On three! 1, 2, 3!"

Suddenly, the tug at her stomach came on as she was pulled into a swirling of light with the others, Draco cheering beside her joyously.

Nelly looked up at the kids. "Let go, guys!"

"What?!" Henry was surprised.

"Let go now!" Nelly shouted back.

Val released first, screaming as she flew through the warp with the boys and grunting as she landed hard on the ground face first, Henry landing on his back on one side of her and Draco hitting his arm as he landed on her other side.

She sat up and gingerly touched her nose, wincing as she felt some pain from its disfigured state.

Draco got up and looked at her. "Here, let me help with that." He carefully grabbed her nose and twisted it back into place.

"Ah!" She groaned before looking at him. "Thanks."

He nodded and helped her up as Henry joined them, all of them turning to the skies and watching the adults land safely.

The five walked up a hill before ducking under a flying wizard as Nelly smiled at the kids. "Welcome to the Quidditch World Cup!"

Heading into the campsite, Val looked around with Henry, both of them in awe at what they were seeing. So many supporters of either Bulgaria or Ireland showing up for the excitement and fun times

Lucius lead the group to their tent and opened the flap. "Ladies." He allowed Nelly in first before nodding to Val.

Val nodded back and slowly went inside, amazed by the size of the interior as she looked up. "So cool..."

Henry and Draco passed by her as Lucius placed a hand on her shoulder. "Isn't magic wonderful?"

Val nodded. "Absolutely."

The elder Malfoy smiled and walked over to Nelly, helping her set up some tea as they talked.

Val went to a bunk and set her stuff at the ready before hearing Lucius say: "I do believe we have another American joining us. A member of Elysia who is one of the best known Aurors for your magical government, Nelly?"

She blinked slightly, but before she could say anything, another man, who had hair a slightly darker blonde than Lucius or Draco, came into the tent. "So if you guys are all in here, who's out there keeping an eye on the grounds?" His voice was distinctly American, and his smile showing a good nature to it.

Val grinned eagerly. "Uncle Otis!" She sped past the younger boys and tackled the older American man in a bear hug.

Otis laughed jovially and returned the hug, patting her back happily. "Great to see you too, kid."

She looked up at him before looking at Henry and Draco. "Oh, Henry, Draco. I'd like you to meet my uncle Otis."

Henry shook the elder American's hand. "Nice to meet you, sir."

"You as well." Otis nodded before shaking Draco's hand.

Draco smiled before looking at Val and whispering to her as he watched Otis embrace Nelly like they were old friends. "Honestly, I think your uncle and aunt would make a lovely pairing."

"Shut up!" She hissed back, hiding a blush as she pushed him playfully, the younger Malfoy giggling at his comment.

The group enjoyed their time together before the night came about, bringing with it the start of the World Cup. Val had gotten up to a high point and was looking down eagerly. "Holy Helsing! I knew we were going high, but I didn't think it'd be this high!"

Lucius smiled at her. "Well, put it this way: If it rains, I'm certain the Weasleys will be the first to know."

She looked up at him. "Oh yeah, they got seats up at the top, don't they?"

He nodded. "Let's go enjoy ourselves."

She nodded. "You guys go on. I wanna introduce my uncle and Henry to the others."

Nelly nodded as she ruffled Val's hair. "Meet you back down here, kid!"

The half-blood nodded and headed up to the higher seats with Otis and Henry behind her, the three finding the large group rather quickly.

Val snuck up behind Harry and tapped his shoulder. "Guess who, Lightning Specs?"

Harry looked around and grinned as he saw her. "Val!" He gave her a hug which she reciprocated quickly.

Ron smiled at Val. "Don't leave us out, mate!"

She grinned. "Why would I?" She gave each member of the Weasleys a hug, including Hermione in it before she introduced her own entourage to the massive group.

Henry was quickly getting along with the twins while flirting a bit with Ginny, the third year girl blushing slightly, and Otis struck up a chat with Mr. Weasley about American traditions and customs.

Val looked out at the field, hearing a sound behind her before she ducked in time for the Irish team to fly out and do their performance. "Alright! Whoo!"

"Here come the Bulgarians!" Fred shouted and on cue, the leprechaun that the Irish had conjured was dispersed into red sparks as Bulgaria flew in, one of their members doing some stunts while the crowd cheered his name. "Krum! Krum! Krum! Krum!"

Val cheered excitedly; Viktor Krum was her favorite for the Bulgaria team and tonight was gonna be a blast!

"Good evening!" Fudge's voice sounded, the echo silencing the cheers. "As Minister for Magic, it gives me great pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to the final of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup! Let the match begin!" With the flick of the Minister's wand, the game was on!

Alright, starting out strong here. I will admit the Quidditch World Cup was one of my favorite moments from Harry Potter Book 4, even if it wasn't shown in the movie. Action packed fun galore and plenty of jokes in there! Anyway, gotta get ready for dinner time. As always, read and review!
