Chapter nine:

Claire agreed to give Alice and Jill some of their dynamite. After that, Jill and Alice told Angie what was going on. Angie was furious they wanted to leave her behind. After everything, they had become her surrogate mothers. Angie had her arms crossed, a typical teenage scowl, and spoke curtly. "I can't believe you'd leave me."

"Hey, honey, we're not leaving you. We're only going away for a little while," Jill assured her as she put her hands on Angie's shoulders. "We will find you again."

"It took over a year to find this convoy the first time. Am I going to have to wait another year for you?" Angie asked.

Alice saw the little girl she used to be in her mind's eye, remembering the first time they met in that Raccoon City school. "We don't know how long it'll be, but we will come back. You know that we will. I didn't leave you in Raccoon City, and I didn't leave you when Umbrella took you at the border."

"All right. Do what you have to do. But I'll miss you," Angie finally said with teary eyes. She embraced them both. "I know I don't have to ask you to take care of each other."

Jill and Alice finished their teary goodbye with Angie. They said farewell to L.J. and their new friends, Claire and K-Mart. After, they said goodbye to Carlos. Alice hugged him with a final word to look after Angie. He swore he would.

From there, they drove back to the facility. When they were in range, they rigged the explosives and prepared the Hummer to charge into the Undead and the gates. They hung back and held hands as their beloved vehicle died a hero's death. It cleared a path to the facility and broke through one of the chain link fences. They had to kill a few stragglers along the way, but they reached the building.

Upon entering the compound, Jill stopped jogging. She covered her mouth in horror at the sight of countless Alice clones, dead in a ditch. Alice joined her and had a similar reaction. Jill spoke quietly. "Jesus, what is this?"

"Clones. They're using clones of me for something," Alice answered. "Let's go ask the doctor."

They entered the building, yet all they saw was a table and chairs. A moment later, the floor split and an elevator came. They climbed aboard and went into the facility below the surface. The place was a mess, and power was barely on. Blood was on the walls, and there were men impaled on spikes.

Jill and Alice both leapt when the projection of the computer, a little girl, appeared. "Hello, Alice. I am the computer that runs this facility."

"I know who you are. I knew your sister. She was a homicidal bitch."

"My sister computer was only following the most logical path," the computer returned.

Alice snorted at that as Jill asked the question. "What the hell happened down here?"

"Dr. Isaacs returned in an infected state. The virus has caused massive mutation," the computer explained.

"And the clones outside? What was that?" Jill asked.

"Dr. Isaacs was experimenting with the blood of Project Alice. He used it to make the T-virus more potent, creating a race of Super Undead."

Alice raised her eyebrows. "That must have been what we ran into in Vegas. Where's Dr. Isaacs?"

"I have him trapped in the lower levels," the computer answered. "He must be stopped. He killed everyone here."

Jill and Alice exchanged looks. Jill prepared her gun. "Let's go."

"Good luck," the computer said.

"Yeah. Easy for her to say," Jill commented.

Alice and Jill moved to the lower levels. When they got to the lab, they saw one of Alice's clones in a water sphere. Jill looked at it with a smirk. "Two Alices? I like the sound of that."

"Focus," Alice playfully retorted.

They heard movement. Before they knew what had hit them, Dr. Isaacs—now the mutated form, the Tyrant—had swept his mutated arm through the room. It hit Jill, knocking her unconscious. Alice turned and stabbed the Tyrant in the neck. He turned to leave, giving Alice the chance to check on Jill. Her pulse was steady, but she was out cold.

Alice moved Jill to the chair at the desk and tried to rouse her. When it didn't work, she decided to leave Jill there and left to fight the Tyrant on her own. When she did, she found herself in a test area that resembled the mansion in Raccoon City. The Tyrant came in and the fight began.

Despite putting up a great effort, Alice was flung into a room she recognized from The Hive. It was the same hallway that featured laser technology. The Tyrant followed her in, jabbering on about how he couldn't die. He even declared, "I am the future!"

That got Alice laughing. "No. You're just another asshole. And if I don't kill you, Jill Valentine certainly will."

Suddenly, the laser grid activated and traveled down the hallway. It sliced through the Tyrant, killing him, and Alice thought for a moment that it was going to strike her next. Yet, it did not. It stopped and disappeared. Alice waited for a second to be sure the laser was truly gone. When she realized it was, she left the test area and went back to the laboratory. Jill was at the computer where she had terminated the laser in time.

"He was the future, all right," Jill snorted.

Alice embraced her and kissed her softly. "Thank you. Are you okay?"

"Just a headache. Now what? He's gone, but the rest of Umbrella still exists."

"Maybe we should pay them a visit. Look," Alice showed Jill the icon on the computer that indicated there was a meeting. "We could join electronically. Let them know their days are numbered."

Jill smirked. "I like that. Let's do it."

Alice hit a few buttons and joined Umbrella's meeting. She could see the men sitting around the table, just like in her dream. "You won't have long, boys. Because I am coming for you, and I won't be alone."

Alice left it at that. She looked over at Jill who was staring at Alice's clone. "What about her?"

"Well, if I'm reading this right, there are more of me than that. We could wake them up and bring them with us. That facility is in Tokyo, so it'd be a logistical nightmare trying to get over there. But I think we could manage. That's where the chairman is. We wipe him out and Umbrella won't know what to do next."

"Perfect. I love the idea of an army of Alices."

"Let's see what they think about helping us."

Alice worked to activate all the clones. Once they were all awake, Alice and Jill explained the situation. The clones agreed to help, and just like that Alice and Jill had their own personal army. Jill was having a bit too much fun, imagining what she could do with so many Alices.

"I think I had a dream like this once…" Jill winked.

Alice just rolled her eyes. "Trust me, baby. I'll keep you plenty busy on my own once we figure out how to get to Tokyo."

It was going to take time, but they figured they could get to a port city and commandeer a boat to take to Tokyo. They'd have plenty of time to formulate a plan on the journey to Japan.

Months later, they had made it to Tokyo. Alice and Jill decided to let the clones do most of the legwork. They wanted to wait in the aircraft in the event that anyone tried to make a run for it. Alice guessed the chairman, Albert Wesker, would run before he'd stay and fight. She wanted to handle him personally, and Jill was right there with her.

As the clones got to work, Alice and Jill waited. Sure enough, Wesker had fled. Alice nodded at Jill to get ready. They waited until they were airborne. Then, Alice moved forward and put a gun to Wesker's head. "Any last words?"

Yet, Wesker was ready. He turned and injected Alice. Alice fell to the floor and Jill opened fire on Wesker. Wesker was not expecting anyone else. He grabbed Alice's gun and tried to return fire on Jill. Jill hid behind a crate to avoid the bullets. She kept looking back at Alice, who was on the floor, struggling.

"Ms. Valentine, our former security chief. I wondered what happened to you," Wesker said.

"What the fuck did you do to Alice?" Jill demanded.

"I'm taking back Umbrella's property," Wesker replied. "I've injected her with something that will eradicate the T-virus from her body. She will be back to ordinary in no time. The two of you have caused enough problems for us. I'm going to look forward to killing you both."

Jill popped up and fired a few more rounds at Wesker. He dodged them with ease, which made Jill realize he wasn't entirely human. She knew she couldn't defeat him with bullets alone, and Alice needed her. As she neared Alice, she noticed that Wesker hadn't been at the controls, and they were heading for a mountain.

With a powerful push, Jill leapt to grab Alice. She pulled Alice into her arms and retreated to the back of the aircraft. She got a parachute and leapt for it, just as the craft was preparing to crash. Alice and Jill landed safely, though inelegantly, in the wilderness near Tokyo. Jill set Alice on the ground and checked her pulse.

"Alice, are you all right?"

"Never better. I've been made human for the second time," Alice answered.

"Second time?"

"Yeah. You made me human again first. He did the technical part, though."

Jill laughed. "I hope that crash killed him, but I don't know. He wasn't human."

"At least the facility was destroyed. My poor clones…"

"I know."

"What should we do now?"

"Maybe we should go back. Find Angie and the others. We've been away and fighting Umbrella for long enough."

Alice liked the sound of that. "Yeah. Let's find our friends. We can fight another day. We've dealt Umbrella a serious blow that they won't recover from anytime soon."

In the wreckage, Albert Wesker drew a shaky breath.
