Wallabee Beatles stared confusingly at his cell phone. He had been purging his contact list when he stumbled across her number. For the life of him though, he couldn't remember how Kuki Sanban's contact info had ended up in his phone. Hell, he didn't even remember the last time he talked to Kuki let alone had a conversation with her that granted him her number. According to his mom and some old childhood photos, they had been close before high school started. Now though, their main interaction was when he stared at the back of her head in calc class. They ran in different social circles and didn't share many friends. She tended to stick with Abigail Lincoln and the other academically minded individuals of the class, while his best friends were his fellow soccer teammates who probably altogether had a cumulative GPA of a 2.8.
However, just because he never talked to Kuki didn't mean he hadn't noticed her. Quite frankly, it was hard not to notice Kuki. She bounced around the school like she owned it, lighting up the hallways. Not only was she pretty with her dark hair and deep brown eyes, but she radiated cheerfulness that infected all who crossed her path. Her smile even made calc class tolerable on the worst days. Despite the distance between them, he occasionally found his eyes lingering through the stands trying to find her during his games. As he mused about how to talk to Kuki again without embarrassing himself, he realized he made a grave mistake.
Shit.
SHIT!
Wally fumbled with his phone. He didn't mean to call her. He was debating whether he should delete her number. He definitely didn't want to have an awkward phone call with her. How would he even explain how he got her number? He hastily tried to hang up, but realized luck wasn't on his side when he heard the reception pick up. As his brain went into overdrive trying to figure out whether he should impersonate a telemarketer, he heard the chirpy voice of Kuki Sanban.
"Hi Wally!"
Suddenly, he felt that the years apart weren't that long.
A/N: This was an old fanfic I had started awhile back and didn't quite finish. I decided to just post it and ease my way back into writing since it's been a long time. I havn't had much time to write with my work. I hope I can get back into the swing of things and start posting again.
