The black and white she-cat lounged on her side in the bright, soft, green grass as sunlight warmed her pelt. Movement caught her attention as she got to her paws, padding a short distance before jumping atop the fence on her garden. Her eyes widened at the sight of the large, handsome, slender tom. His lean muscles rippled subtly under his pelt as he disappeared into the forest.

She hesitated, trying to ignore the way her heart beat quickly in her chest. She couldn't abandon the blonde female Twoleg she'd been with for sixteen long years, yet she had the intense urge to follow the tom. After a moment, the slender she-cat hopped off the fence.

Oreo noticed how soft the tom's fur looked and that it was slightly longer than her own and less fluffy. She ducked behind a tree as he paused, sitting down and mouth open to taste the air around him. The she-cat felt warm with embarrassment as a smirk appeared on his face, dark eyes gleaming. A deep, rumbling, sexy laugh met her ears.

"Oh kitty, kitty…" He taunted playfully, walking toward where she hid. His sleek muscles flexed as a soft breeze blew though his fur. His paw steps were confident and his paws were large.

'And they look strong too'. She thought with a shiver, wondering what it would be like to nuzzle into his side. She was surprised how a tom she'd never even met could affect her this badly.

A faint purr met her ears as the she-cat emerged from her hiding place with a light blush coating her cheeks, hoping it was hidden due to her mostly black fur. Her ears were flattened and she seemed unable to meet his gaze.

"Why were you following me?" The handsome, large, black tom asked, a hint of amusement hidden in his deep, rich tone. His dark blue eyes gleamed like stars.

She felt her sleek, fluffy pelt ripple in embarrassment, claws softly sinking into the ground as if to anchor her there as she realized she didn't have a reason.

"Well…um…. you're k-kinda hot." Her voice was soft, pale blue eyes fixed to the ground.

'Sure, as if he doesn't already know that.'

The tom laughed, deep, dark sound like the rumble of distant thunder and placed his tail tip under her chin, lifting it so their eyes met.

"Is that the only reason?" He asked and Oreo felt like a silly, foolish kitten. She nodded, even though she hadn't quite heard the question and felt pinned by the tom's intense gaze. She vaguely wondered if her heart was still beating.

His dark blue eyes flashed and she could hear him thinking, 'What a silly, foolish kitten'. He opened his mouth to speak and she half expected him to say the words out loud. A faint, rumbling, comforting purr met her ears as her heart skipped a beat.

'Is this what Twoleg's call 'love at first sight''? Instead, he said, "I'm Onyx."

Over the following weeks Oreo and Onyx grew very close. He told her that he was a loner before he'd joined a group of wild cats called ShadowClan. Oreo explained she was a Kittypet (as if the dark blue collar with the small silver bell didn't give it away) and that she'd been with the same Twoleg— Carol —since she was four moons old.

One day, Oreo bounded up to the tom, feeling excited and overjoyed as she bounced on her paws.

"I'm expecting kits!" Onyx blinked, registering the excited she-cat's rushed words before a dopey grin spread over his face as they nuzzled, both purring warmly. Sooner than either expected, two tiny kittens nestled at the curve of Oreo's belly. They named the dark gray kitten with a black spot on her forehead and black ear Mint and the solid black kitten Cookie.
