White-hot pain – she feels like she is being born again.

Alice thought her heart had stopped after being punched in the chest by Rain. Jill had also been relentless in the fight for her life. Yet, somehow, she survived. Doing a mental checklist of numerous places of pain, she felt warmth that encased her hands. Alice weakly opened her eyes to see an identical set of concerned eyes watching her intently. Alice smiled in a motherly way, trying to reassure the tiny warmth she was receiving as a distraction from the throbbing pain that covered her body.

From the moment Becky came out from her hiding spot in Umbrella Prime calling her "mommy," Alice had adopted her. She felt a special kind of connection with Becky, without even realizing it, and attributed it to having a special connection with clones, as she felt it with her personal copies as well.

The jarring reminder of seeing herself and the other basic models in Prime was a stern reminder that business was left unfinished. She hoped that with the help of Wesker, this would be the final stand against Umbrella. After all, she owed humanity that much. However, this was Wesker, and she was still unsure of what this new allegiance would bring her.

The slight turbulence brought Alice out of her thoughts as pain shot through her body. Grimacing, Becky saw through her façade, her concern etched all over her face as she squeezed Alice's hand.

"I am okay, sweetheart."

Becky only nodded, her eyes starting to swell, fighting back tears. The shaking of the plane also caused Jill to wake up from her nap. Alice had almost forgotten about her friend but was relieved to have Jill back. As Jill approached Alice, and even without the scarab, Alice was apprehensive about what kind of Jill she was about to encounter. The unsure look from Becky did not go unnoticed by Alice as Jill squatted next to Becky, placing her hand on Alice's arm.

Jill smiled with relief on her face. "Glad to have you back."

Alice reciprocated the smile and replied in a raspy tone, "Glad to have you back."

Jill let out a small laugh, a pensive look on her face as she decided what to do or say next. Alice waited attentively. "Alice... I…"

Alice anticipated apologies. "Don't worry about it. I know you weren't yourself," she said, weakly pointing at the scabs starting to form on Jill's chest.

"Still... I am sorry for what I have done. I also wanted to say I forgive you," Jill sighed. "I finally understand the control and resources Umbrella has. At the time, I didn't grasp that kind of power, especially over you. I hated you for a long time and wanted you dead for what you did to Angie. Again, I am sorry." Unshed tears caught in Jill's eyes as she tried to look at Alice, showing her sincerity.

"In that case, I forgive you too." Alice smiled as she reached over to put her hand over Jill's, covering her arm and giving it a light squeeze. Jill let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding.

"Get some rest. I am going to check on how much longer we have until we reach D.C."

Alice watched Jill as she passed fellow survivors Ada and Leon, where Ada was ignoring Leon's look of longing. If it Alice wasn't in so much pain she would have laughed at the entire situation she was currently in. Instead, she readjusted her pillow, trying to get comfortable, and reassured Becky she was okay. Except Becky wasn't quite ready to let Alice rest. She could see the questioning in her eyes. Alice waited patiently.

"Mommy, why does she forgive you?"

Alice bit her lip, wondering how to explain the history between her and Jill. She wanted to offer the truth without the gory details. She didn't want mistrust between her and her daughter.

"I... we had a fight, and I hurt Jill really badly. I made her lose trust in me."

"But she forgives you now?"

"Yes, everything is okay."

"Good."

If it were only that simple for everything, Alice thought.

Once she was sure Becky was satisfied with her answers, Alice settled in and turned her head, trying to fall back asleep. Except her worrying thoughts were interrupting her would-be sleep. Once she landed in Washington, she promised herself that her priority would be to find out what had happened to Claire Redfield.
