Notes

Just some notes and extra things that might help you understand the story. Now, whenever you see this:

[Philian Apolesai]

That means we are doing a transition. Normally we will also switch the PoV of the story but not always, I just use this when we need to change something about the scene. Could be anything from where we are, who's telling the story right now, or just to move around in time. Hopefully that explanation made sense but if it didn't just don't worry about it. They're more for me to mark where segments start/end and for style than to do anything in the story.

Some formatting things as well. Whenever text is surrounded by apostrophes 'Like this', it means that text is in a message. Text in double quotes "Like this" is regular speaking. Bold and italics are just for emphasis.

Now for the placement in the Overlord story:

This story starts at around the end of season four, or at the end of the 14th novel. Right after Ainz destroyed all the Re-Estize's coastal cities and made way for his kingdom to grow. Then this runs chronologically to what Maruyama written so far. Don't worry if you aren't up to date on Overlord. I'm not going over what happened in them because this is Vesi and Ainz's story, the canon arcs won't be that important, they're more just something to happen in the background and to help with the timeline.

The Map

Where things are won't matter too much after the first few chapters, but just so you know, this is the map I'm using when I reference any cardinal directions. I do not think it's that accurate, I just got it from the fandom wiki because Maruyama has never released a full world map afaik.

Overlord Map

Now some notes on placements that are important.

In the beginning, Vesi is hanging out in a small group of islands to the East of the Re-Estize. I don't know if there is actually any land there or not but this is a fanfic so I don't really care. I imagine Demiurge's farm is somewhere near the orc settlements, which is the dark brown splot under the Kingdom banner if you can't see, so that's where he is every time I mention that.

If you have a better/more accurate New World map, please share it with me and I will make revisions where needed.

Some story reccs

Now ik I'm very slow when it comes to writing and I feel like I should recommend some other Overlord fics to check out while you wait.

- Undead Embrace by Docemoon415 - ALL the Overlord fics by EspirituDelMar but more specifically, - This is Our Truth Now by EspirituDelMar - Humanoid by Inkbrush - Child of Jörmungandr by RocketUpDuck - Vicissim by Goobersc7 and VergilTodd - Real Life on the Seventh Floor by Kensalyn - Mr. Schadenfreude - Suits and Dresses (very short but still adorable) - Momo-ji by Kat_o_nine_Tails

Some are smutty, most are clean, but all are cute in their own ways. (Also most with a Demiurge focus cause he is the best UwU) If you clicked on this story because the tags/summary looked interesting, I think you will enjoy at least one of these.

Character Sheet

This is just a synopsis of the main character Vesi. If you wanna know more about how she thinks and what she looks like, her skills, etc, you'll find all the info you'll ever need about her here.

Personality: Vesi has always been confident. Trusting in her own strength to get her through any issue. This manifested into a slightly cocky attitude, challenging others to spar or 1v1, always believing herself to be the best fighter in the room, even if that usually wasn't true. Despite her flaws, she is a genuinely caring soul.

Real Name: Natsumi (Nat) Okoiyo User Name: Vesi Nuval

Title: The Mad Seawitch

Race: Marelinth

Guild: Ainz Ooal Gown

Appearance: Like a blue fairy, or a nymph. A tall yet slender build with light blue skin covered in glowing white tattoos that spiral across her entire body. Her hair is a dark blue, winding down to her hips. Her face is somewhat gaunt and her eyes are large. With beautiful irises of bright white and small flecks of red surrounding the cornea. Her ears like small fins and webbed fingers and toes for better movement in the water, even in her 'human' form. For her clothing, she normally wears a pale sky blue plate that seamlessly blends into an armored skirt with a long white cape sparkling behind her. A crown of pearly vines is delicately weaved through her hair. She is always surrounded by small lights that shimmer around her. Like she is always surrounded by faeries.

While relaxing the lights and crown stay, but her armor is replaced by a sheer dress that loosely hugs her body. It is made from the same material as her glittering cape so she sparkles like the night sky when she wears it.

When she's trying to blend in she wears her usual armor, removing the crown and cape. Also

Her weapons: She always has an ornate sword and dagger that she found in the New Word but those were more decorative than anything. Her best weapon is her staff, the [Light of the Void]. Formed from the glowing lights that surround her. Coming together to form a pure beam of light in her hands. With it equipped her spells are amplified and it can also act as a simple bludgeoning weapon if she chooses.

Underwater form: When she is in the water (or at any time but why would she transform when out of water?) she can choose to change her body into a more suitable form. Her legs will mesh together into a long tail. The fins of her 'ears' and her fingers elongate for greater movement. She maintains a similar blue color, but her white tattoos dim to a slight green. Acting as a sort of camouflage that makes her look like the waves reflecting on the sands of the ocean floor.

Strengths: - Water magic (obviously.) Her strongest asset. - Her confidence. While also a bit of a drawback at times, often making her think little of those around her and even walking headfirst into traps simply because she thinks she's too strong, it has also been quite the boon. Her already otherworldly strength mixed with a slightly cocky attitude garners respect (or fear, not that it matters) from most all other beings to cross her path. In another life, maybe she used this natural fear she exuded to create a wonderful life for herself. - Weapon variety. In Yggdrasil, Vesi hadn't really taken the time to read into things or find a meta. She just did whatever she thought was the most fun. Which to her was trying out every bladed weapon she could find. This did mean she was weaker than others that chose a specialty like how Takemizuchi chose to only use longswords but here in the New World it has been quite helpful. She was naturally proficient with almost every weapon and has had more than enough time to hone these skills. - Her speed. Vesi knew splitting her attention to focus on so many weapons would be a drawback, so she chose to make up for that by increasing her agility slightly with every levelup. Becoming one of the fastest members of the guild. So she may not have been able to hit as hard, but she basically guaranteed that she would hit first.

Weaknesses: - Shiny things. Vesi has the heart of a collector (she's a hoarder). Just a whisper of some new and exciting thing is enough for her to run headfirst into danger. This foolish greed has gotten her hurt and killed countless times in Yggdrasil but in the end, she did always get what she was after. - She's very headstrong. Once Vesi has a thought that's what she's running with until it works. Not the best for the careful plans Momonga liked to chart out in Yggdrasil, but in this New World, not hesitating has been quite helpful for keeping her alive and enjoying this life to the fullest. - Observation skills. Beyond sensing danger and evaluating how strong something might be, Vesi isn't the most aware. Picking up on people's feelings, changes in environment or demeanor, anything like that. She just doesn't register it. If it doesn't somehow link to her fighting or sizing someone up for a fight, she isn't paying the most attention. - Planning. Whenever placed in a dangerous situation Vesi's first thought will be to attack. Not scan for weaknesses, prepare herself, or maybe just try to avoid combat for once. She is not about that life. In all fairness, she's never had to. She's been strong enough to just act on impulse during her 300 year stay in this New World so please forgive her.

Abilities/Skills:

What Vesi can do, how useful the skill is, where she got it, stuff like that. Almost all flavor text really but I hope you can still enjoy it.

One with the Waves - In the game, the description was much more promising than what it actually gave. It allowed the player to water. So theoretically you could always have a weapon with you given the abundance of water everywhere. However, it meant that you could only control water sources. So you only had a weapon as long as you were near a lake or ocean. Apparently it was too much work to have water always present in the sky, the plants, and everywhere else it belonged. Which was disappointing after all the Maeba she had to kill to get it, but it still had its uses. Now though, in the New World, it's the power she uses the most. She is truly never unarmed. The air, her spit, blood, there was truly water everywhere and every drop bowed to her will.

Terrifying Presence - Due to one of the racial attributes of Marelinths, Vesi constantly exudes a toxin that causes fear in most. She can control this, similar to how Ainz always has negative energy surrounding him that acts as a painful poison to all who touch him. Just as he can disable this passive skill, Vesi can too. It's just not at the front of her mind.

Magic Sense - Exactly what it sounds like. When she uses it Vesi's eyes will glow blue and she can see the mana of someone or any active spells in the area that are using mana as well as feel the presence of anyone nearby. Think of it as a more refined version of Arche's ability. Most players in Yggdrasil got access to this skill if they learned just a little bit of magic so her knowing this is not all that strange, but it should still be mentioned.

If I ""forgot"" any of her other skills that might be useful to the plot later, I'll just add them on here when the time comes. So nothing she does should be surprising or inexplicable.
