Edward drove straight to his house.
It was raining harder now, and the temperature seemed to have dropped as we got out of the car. I knew it was sometime after ten that we arrived.
"Come inside." He tells me.
I blinked, "What for? Didn't you see what just happened? I think I need to be alone right now." I told him.
He nods, "I saw, and you do not need to be alone, especially after all of that… so come on. I've got beer, wine, and many other things, and ordered food, which should be here in a few minutes." He tells me.
I raised a brow, "How do you know what I like?" I asked him.
He gives me a guilty look, "Seth sent me your favorite order list. He has a list of all the places you like to eat and your favorites for when you're sick, or upset." He tells me.
I blink, "He- He did?" I asked, tearfully.
He nods, "You also look like you could use a hug." He tells me as he opens his arms.
I stare at him for a second, hesitating, before running into his arms.
He hugs me tightly as I feel the tears that formed, begin to fall. My ear presses into his chest as I sniffle, and try to stop from having a full crying jag, only for me to feel his lips into my hair.
"It'll be okay, Bunny." He whispers as he guides me into his house.
He leads me to the living room, handing me the remote, before he disappears in the direction of the kitchen, returning with a large glass of a dark red liquid, with fruits in it.
"What the hell is this?" I asked.
He snickered in response, "Sangria. Rose, my brother's wife dropped it off yesterday after they dropped by unexpectedly." He tells me.
"Alcohol, or no alcohol?" I asked.
"No alcohol, I can add some wine to it… or if you want something stronger I have scotch too." He says.
I nod, "Scotch, please." I whisper.
He nods and takes both glasses back, disappearing for a few moments before walking back in, and bringing a plate of diced fruit and crackers.
"You have a better assortment than most guys I know." I comment as I grab some fruit and pop it into my mouth.
He shrugs, "My mother taught me how to be a great host." He tells me.
I nod, as I take a sip of the sangria, licking my lips and groaning at the taste.
While he was gone I put on I Love Lucy, and smiled when he eyed the large screen, before looking over at me with an amused expression.
"What?" I asked.
"My mom used to love watching this show along with Doogie Howser M.D. and Friends. I once got home after a long shift and found my parents dancing to that one Hollywood anniversary episode from I Love Lucy. I miss that about them." He sighs.
I nodded, "I'm sorry for your loss, pookie." I told him as I reached over and patted his leg.
He gives me a nod, and a small smile before turning to look at the TV.
"It's on." He whispers.
I turn to see Lucy pouting as her mother speaks to her.
I smiled, and looked surprised as he stood up, turning to me as he extended his hand. "What?"
"Dance with me?" He asks.
I shake my head at him, "No, I— I don't dance." I responded, as I took a large gulp of the sangria.
He gives me a small pout, "Please."
I sigh, "Fine. If you want to lose your toes, then it's on you." I say as I take another swig.
He rolls his eyes at me, extending his hand to me once more, "You can't be that bad, it's okay, it's all in the leading." he tells me.
I take his hand, rolling my eyes at him as he smirks at me, pulling me close to his body as I feel my jaw fall in surprise, "I thought you wanted to dance?" I asked him, nervously.
He nods, and turns me suddenly, causing me to gasp, "I do." He whispers, as one of his hands, slides down my back, and wraps around my waist. "This is the correct way to dance." He adds, as he juts his chin towards the television.
Frank Sinatra's Cheek to Cheek begins to play and he smiles as I trip on his feet, and accidentally step on him, causing him to wince.
"I did warn you." I told him, as I held back a smile but failed as I saw the veins on his forehead begin to protrude.
"It's fine, keep dancing." He grunts out, pulling me closer to him.
"You sure? It's your toes." I tell him as he rolls his eyes at me and we begin dancing faster.
"Worth it." He mumbles back.
We spin and begin dancing on the right side of the living room. I manage to somehow hit my knee and hit his thigh somehow, before he sighs, and pulls me onto his feet.
"Might as well enjoy it." He mumbles as we stare at each other.
"Am I not hurting you?" I ask, as I try to move away.
Only for him to pull flush against him, as he shakes his head, "No, you aren't, and we're not done dancing." He tells me, squeezing my hip.
The song changes, and I jump as I realize that it is close to one am.
"I should head home." I whisper, pulling away.
Just as I am about to get to the door, we both hear the sound of two cars pulling up. I feel as Edward yanked me back, and slapped a hand over my mouth before dragging me in the direction of his garage, he pulls me to a door, which leads down to a different room and sighs.
"What the fuck is going on?" I asked, quietly.
"I will explain everything in a few minutes, can you trust me?" He asks.
I stare into his eyes, a sincere expression on his face as he does. I debated for a moment only to realize that I had no choice.
"Fine, but if this turns out to be some serial killer shit, or I get assaulted and wind up dead, I will haunt you for the rest of your life." I tell him as he lets out a snort and shakes his head at me.
"I would never allow anyone to touch you. Only I can, Bunny." He responds in a cryptic tone.
"You never know these days." I mumble as I walk into.
"True. But you can trust me to protect you. I would never allow anyone to hurt you." He says, as he leans his torso inside. "This is the lock console. It only locks from the inside. Once locked no one can get in. If you hear any type of noise, hit this button, and pull that lever over there, and you'll be safe. Don't worry about me." He said, before he handed me my bag and the door closed behind him.
I move down the three steps and get onto the bed that is pushed against the wall, before looking around around the room.
There aren't any windows within this room, yet there is a small ventilation system.
On the far wall, there is another latch and console.
"What the fuck did I get myself into?" I whisper.
I quickly move to press the button Edward told me to, and pull the latch before moving to sit on the bed.
Deciding that I wasn't going to waste time, I pulled out the 2-in-1 laptop I had recently purchased and stuffed it in my bag before logging on to my company email.
I responded to a few business ventures and set up meetings starting from next week until the beginning of next October.
I had been keeping a secret from everybody, but I had finally made the decision to venture out to other fields but had yet to announce it.
Just after all the large holidays passed, my publishing company and another large company were going to combine. I was about to become the head of one of the largest importing and exporting companies, not only that but the prior owner had bought other companies within other areas and banking companies just before he sold it to me, meaning I was about to be pushed into billionaire margin, moneywise, and about become one of the most dominating competitors worldwide.
I had been working with small businesses in the area, helping them keep off large competitors, if the deal went through not only would those owners benefit from it. I was going to make sure that they all owned their businesses, including the name of their business.
The news had me smiling and shaking as I bit my lip to keep from letting out an excited yelp because I remembered where I currently was.
Seeing as I was probably going to be in here for a while, I decided to make myself more comfortable and changed out of my clothes, and into an oversized shirt that I found in one of the drawers.
It smelled clean, freshly washed, like lavender, a soft detergent, yet also like Edward. A hint of leather, musk, and fresh pine which made my mouth water slightly.
I briefly wondered if he would get mad, but seeing as I was currently stuck in his basement, I didn't give a shit if he was.
Almost two hours later, I got a text. It was from Edward.
Pookie: It's safe, you can come out now.
Bunny: No, I don't think I will. I'm quite comfortable here. See?: (picture)
Pookie: What the fuck is that?
Pookie: Why did you-?
Pookie: Open the door, please.
Bunny: No, thank you. I'll see you in a few I have to get some rest. *yawning*
Pookie: Isabella, you have thirty seconds to open the door and let me in there or you won't like the consequences.
Bunny: Yeah? What are you going to do about it?
There was a whirring sound, and a click from the outside of the door, causing me to gasp as the door springs open, and a very heated Edward walks in.
"You were saying?" He asks, leaning against the door frame.
"Fuck me… I mean... Hi?" I whimpered, as I backed into the wall.
