"Wesker? What kind of name is that?"

"Beats me," Claire shrugged. "The guy was way too up his own butt to talk to, so I never bothered to ask. Gave me the creeps if I'm honest."

The drawer from the picture was the same one they had found locked from before but that didn't stop Claire from using Veronica's hammer to jam it open. With a loud crack, it did just that. In it they found a large wooden box. Inside it was another high-capacity magazine that allowed for more ammo in the machine gun that they had just gotten.

"Very handy. No wonder someone wanted to hide it," Claire said as sheput it in her gun. Just as they were about to turn and leave, something caught Veronica's eye at the last second.

"Wait! What's that?" she pointed out as she bent down to the drawer. Hiding in the back of the drawer, she picked up another item and lifted it into view. It was another film.

"'Rising Rookie'?" she read the label. "This isn't going to be someone's private collection, will it?" she arched an eyebrow. The younger giggled at that.

"I hope not," Claire smirked. "Why? Afraid you'll see someone naked? Oh! What if it's Leon?" She playfully swatted at Claire's arm with a shake of her head, but her cheeks were bright red. To say that Leon wasn't very handsome would be a lie. Claire gasped with a knowing smile. "You're blushing!"

"Oh, shut up! As if you're not thinking the same thing."

"I will admit. Leon is quite the hunk," Claire teased, her own cheeks slightly turning pink at the thought.

"A twink is more like it, you goof. Come on, we got what we need, let's go!"

"Wait, don't you wanna crack this baby open?"

"What? Claire, we gotta get back!"

"I know, but aren't you even a little bit curious to see what's on it?" Veronica bit her lip as she eyed the film case. "We still have to find the other picture, right? We can look while it develops!" There was a beat of silence.

"Oh, fine," Veronica sighed while taking the film. "You're lucky I wanna know too."

With that said they rushed down to the dark room where they developed the photo before running to the other side of the station for the next hiding place. They were lucky enough to find some more ammo in a closet on the way there since they never really searched this section besides the office. They were also glad to not run into any new zombies either or this search would have been a pain in the ass.

They finally got to the room, finding no zombies around and found the desk drawer that they needed. Inside it was a strange looking cartridge. They didn't know what it was for, but they took it in case they needed it for something important. By the time they had gotten back to the dark room the photo was mostly ready…but they weren't.

The picture was of a young woman sitting crisscross in a basketball court. She had her arms bent over her head in a provocative pose and she was wearing a green R.P.D. basketball uniform. Only, this uniform didn't leave much to the imagination with the amount of peach-colored skin that was showing. She didn't look much older than they were. Clearly, this was meant to be hidden for a reason and the name on the label didn't help. The pair looked at each other with slightly disturbed expressions.

"I…I was joking about seeing someone's private collection," Veronica blinked as she felt her soul slightly leave her body.

"I knew Wesker was weird, but this," Claire tossed the photo onto the ground, "takes the cake."

"I don't understand. First Irons, then Umbrella, and now this! Why are there no sane people in this town!?"

"No kidding. It's no wonder it all went to shit," Claire sighs. "I say we never speak of this again."

"Agreed."

While trying to forget the last five minutes, they decided that this was their final goodbye to the station. Once at the goddess statue, the pair looked one final time over the beautiful main hall then back at each other before heading under. From there, they made their way back towards where they last left off in the sewers.

Returning to where they had gotten on the elevator, they exited only to realize that they still hadn't found the other pieces they needed to get to Sherry. As far as they could figure with the maps, they had searched almost everywhere and found only the one piece. Which left them with only one other option.

The bottom waterway looked just as bad as they had left it. It didn't take long to get to since their path to it was cleared from before, but that didn't make Veronica feel any better in getting there at all. There was still no clear sight of what was awaiting them, but they had no choice but to go down the ladder and confront it. They needed to get to that Supplies Storage room.

The water was almost worse than the rest of the sewer, where it was almost thick with the amount of whatever the shit on the walls were bleeding into it. The fleshy mounds around them sat high, keeping the next area blocked off which kept them on edge. No visibility was really killing the energy on making it through. Plus, the copious number of bodies amongst the mountains didn't help. It made them nervous.

Rounding the first corner, they found themselves in a small alcove that was disconnected from the rest of the waterway. Slouched against the wall and atop a mound of garbage was a dead body sitting in the beam of a random light. Moths and flies were already swarming the thing, which probably meant it was already dead. Near it was a green herb just randomly sitting close by.

As they went to grab it, another one of the monster babies popped through the man's chest like an alien and dove into the water with a screech. Seemed to be a pattern with those things considering what it did to Irons.

They didn't know where it went, but they didn't want to find out, so they grabbed the herb then climbed onto a solid mound that luckily led to the other side. It must have disappeared into the water, so who knows where it went.

"Just great," Claire muttered.

As they were about to climb down into the next area, a groaning from behind shocked them into a panic. To their surprise a lone zombie began to get up. Despite the giant monsters they faced against, it was actually nice to take it down so easily in comparison.

"Keep your eyes peeled. That could mean there might be more," Claire noted.

Veronica nodded and reloaded her gun before the two leapt into the next part of the waters to the waterway. As they neared a corner on their path, the groaning of those monsters grew louder, and they came upon a familiar mound bobbing along the surface.

"Just great."

"What's our game plan here, Claire?" Said girl thought for a second.

"We'll keep a grenade at the ready, but I'm gonna throw one at it too. At the very least, it's gonna distract it for us to run past."

"It's a little small, don't you think?" Veronica pointed out the tight space they would have to do so.

"It's kinda all I got. Got any other ideas?"

"Nope. All yours, babe." The corner of Claire's lip couldn't help but lift at the petname but said nothing as she focused her eyes on the monster.

"Here goes nothing."

With that, she pulled a grenade from her belt and pulled the ring before tossing it at the beast. It shocked the thing awake causing it to bounce up from the water, but before it could lock its sights on the girls, the bomb detonated. It screamed and curled into itself in pain allowing the girls some time to pass by. The plan had worked!

Their relief was short lived as another came out of seemingly nowhere blocking their way forward causing them to run straight into it. Before they could react, it grabbed Veronica, picking her up off the floor. Flashbacks went through her mind as she watched its head unfurl, but this time, she didn't plan on getting poisoned. She still had access to her hips, so she reached back and pulled out her knife.

She waited for the mouth as it opened and lunged at her like she remembered, but instead of holding it back, she jabbed the knife into its mouth. It held onto her hand as it sucked onto the appendage, but she was able to wiggle it around and penetrate the flesh deeply. Hopefully to keep stuck, even if she lost the knife.

Its grip loosened on her while it was distracted by the pain, and she was able to get free. Again, with this diversion, Claire grabbed Veronica's hand and pulled her to keep running. They barely made it to the platform to safety when they passed not only another monster crawling out of a giant sewer opening, but also a zombie standing in the water.

The two couldn't have run through the door fast enough before slamming it behind them. Taking a minute, they leaned against the metal door to catch their breath in front of a staircase that would lead up to the next room. Veronica frantically wiped her hand on the back of her shorts to get the slobber off and took a couple of deep breaths to steady herself.

"That was a close one!" she wheezed.

"Yeah. Too close!"

"We're going to run out of things to use at this rate."

"We should try to be careful about it from now on. Like only using them in a situation like that."

"Agreed."

After allowing them a moment to catch their breath, the two made their way up the stairs. At the top was a doorway that was open to a big room filled with boxes and a maze of iron gates. The pair walked in and around towards another staircase that went down into the room. This place was surely a doozy.

Once they were down on the ground floor, they realized that they were surrounded by many gates that required a key to open. With each gate, there was an electric box that required only the king and queen chess pieces to open them and not every gate was the exact pieces they needed to get to Sherry.

Luckily for them, those exact pieces were plugged into two of the gates on their side, but they had to run around and place them in different gates in order to take a certain path. All while taking down a single zombie that was hanging over another set of stairs' railing. This room really was a maze and a puzzle at the same time. If they were in one, this was some fucked up video game.

Searching around as they went, they found a red herb sitting on a high shelf just at the top of the stairs, a blue herb sitting in a random box, and another gun sitting in one of the gated sections of the room. It took some major maneuvering, but when they finally got to it, they found out it was an electric gun called the Sparkshot! It was a giant yellow gun with a radar that detected the voltage on top. It looked like something out of a sci-fi flick.

"I've only ever seen this in movies! This is awesome!" Claire excited said as she took it off the wall it hung on. Suddenly the cartridge they had found seemed to make sense. Someone knew about it and hid it for safekeeping. Finders keepers!

"So, who's gonna take Sparky here?" Veronica asked. "I don't really have the space to have it on me since I have the grenade launcher." Claire thought about it for a minute then hung it over her shoulder.

"I will. I have the space and now we both have a big gun."

Once they were all settled with their supplies, it took a few more times of maneuvering with the gates before they could finally leave the room with the chess plugs. They headed back the way they came and regrettably walked into the waterway. Already prepared with a grenade in hand, they carefully got back into the water and began their journey to the other side.

At first, they easily overcame the lone zombie from before since there was nothing else. But as soon as it was dealt with, they had come face to face with a monster. Instead of fear however, Claire got excited. Seemed a good time as any to try out the new gun.

She took aim to where the giant eye on the monster was located, which seemed to be in the same spot for all of the monsters, then pulled the trigger. There was a loud click then the sound of flesh being pierced before sparks of blue electricity ran up the currents leading to the needles in the monster's body. Its body spazzed uncontrollably and the smell of burning flesh became overbearing.

As they waited for it to do something else, Veronica now realized how the gun worked. Electric wires were connected from the gun to the needles which were the ammo used for this type of weapon. It was, essentially, a giant taser gun, like she had seen in shows where police use them on unruly suspects.

The radar on the gun showed the voltage getting higher and higher before it reached its highest point. When it did, the lines connected to the needles zapped off the gun, leaving them to the next round of needles. The monster groaned and spazzed some more before falling into the water in a fit of smoke. It was a bit of a longer wait, but it was an efficient weapon at least.

With it down, they rushed past it cleanly. After climbing over some squishy mounds of flesh onto the other side where they had started, they were met with another one of the monsters waiting in the waters. It must have been that baby they had saw and it had grown to an adult. The quick growth cycle was something they noted but put on the back burner as they had to survive first.

It took climbing onto the dry mound where the bodies were to quickly get around it as to save on ammo, and luckily, they made it to the ladder in record time. Veronica didn't know if she had climbed a ladder so fast in her life, but it felt like she did. The pair took one final look over the bottom waterway then at each other in relief. They ran out of that room happily at the thought of never having to go back there again.

And now they can get back to Sherry.

Once they had returned to the control room, they checked the windows to see if Sherry was still there. She was still lying in the same spot. Claire swallowed nervously as she dug into her pouch for the plugs they had gotten. As she was digging around, she came across the video tape they had picked up. She had almost forgotten about it.

"Sherry looks the same as when we left her. I wanna see what's on this real quick," she said as she walked over to the T.V.

She popped the tape into the VHS player and both girls watched as the T.V turned from static to a dark screen. Finally, an image appeared. It was of a man face down on the floor groaning in pain. Based on the surroundings and the man's placement, they figured it was the dead man they had found the tape with.

There was an open suitcase in front of him and broken vials of liquid spilled onto the floor. In the corner of the video, it was labeled 'A. Kirkpatrick' and was dated on September 23rd, aka just before the outbreak. The man panned the camera up, showing that it was attached to his head or helmet. You could hear frantic yelling in the background.

"Please...Oh...please...stop...St-Stop!" he begged while reaching for the suitcase. He tried crawling towards the sound of a gun firing and looked up to see one of the soldiers they had seen dead fighting against something. "Don't...don't...no... no...no!"

A pair of large, deformed hands picked up the suitcase in one frame before the static cut in. The image came back with the man looking up at a familiar monster who was pouring the contents of the suitcase onto him and in his mouth. Despite being blurry, they recognized what it was.

"It's William!" Veronica gasped.

"OVER HERE, YOU FREAK!" the other man who was still standing screamed while shooting at it some more.

"Don't hurt him...Don't hurt him," the injured man begged as he watched the monster stalk towards the other.

The image was getting blurrier by the second. All it took was one swipe of the thing to slam the soldier against the wall, splattering blood everywhere. Veronica gasped in shock, grasping Claire's arm for purchase. The younger reached up and squeezed her hand, still watching the video. That man was dead and all it took was one hit.

The one still recording on the floor gasped for breath and looked down at a rat who was eating at one of the broken vials on the floor. More rats joined it as the monster began walking back to him. As soon as it got close enough, they scattered. The last shot was of the monster's foot stepping on the broken vial before cutting out completely.

"Glad I watched that," Claire grumbled sarcastically as she turned the T.V off.

"That…Claire that might have been what did Raccoon City in. Those rats, they must have spread it like back in the Bubonic Plague!"

"If that's the case, then this was all really an accident. At least kind of," Claire thought out as she led the two of them to the chess piece fuse boxes.

"I mean it doesn't seem on purpose, but at the same time, what was William doing? How did he even get this far to do that much damage?"

"Who knows? Maybe there's something else going on here. But let's think about that later, let's figure this out so we can get to Sherry. I was really hoping there might have been a clue on the tape, but we'll just have to try."

Claire took a look at the corkboard and grabbed the written clue left behind. She read it aloud while Veronica listened so she could plug them in. As they looked at the pictures and guessed what each piece was, they found this to be more confusing than they thought.

"So, some of these don't even match up to the pictures. What kind of lock system is this?" Claire huffed as she tried to insert a plug in. It took a few more tries with what little knowledge they had, but eventually, the door opened with the correct sequence. "Finally!"

"Yes! We're coming Chickadee!"

"Alright, Sherry…on our way."

The two girls ran through the door and down a small set of stairs that led to the large door to the garbage room. There were small piles of garbage lying around but they did find a blue and green herb lying about. They turned the corner and found the giant concrete door still shut. There was a lever next to it, which they pulled, and watched as the garbage room door began to slowly rise with a loud hum.

As they waited for it to rise higher, Veronica glanced around and noticed a room on the other side, but the door was jammed into itself and broken. The room looked charred like there had been a fire, but she didn't have time to take a closer look as Claire ducked down under the door to hurriedly get to the young girl still on the floor. She followed right behind her and realized there was a familiar voice speaking over a speaker in the room.

"Sherry? Mommy's here…" Annette cried worriedly from above them. "Sherry! Sherry, can you hear me?!"

"Oh, no!" Claire muttered under her breath. "Sherry?"

"Claire…?" Annette's confused voice asked in surprise.

"Sherry…Are you alright?" Claire knelt at Sherry's side and began lifting her head up to hold in the crook of her arm. Sherry wasn't looking good. Her left eye was swollen and red with visible veins sprouting from beneath her pale skin. Veronica couldn't help but tear up a bit at the state of her. She began coughing as she slowly woke from her fall.

"C'mon, Chickadee! Wake up!" Veronica whispered as she knelt on the other side to help.

"What are you doing!?" Annette cried. The camera above them watched as they tried to keep Sherry upright. They both turned their heads to look up at the camera.

"We're here to help," she replied. There was a moment of heavy breathing over the monitor before Annette spoke again.

"Sherry's been implanted…She can't be saved," she stated grimly.

"Implanted!? Implanted with what?!" Veronica asked in horror.

"Are you fucking kidding me?! You're her mother. Get in here!" Claire yelled angrily. Veronica had seen mad Claire all night…but this was a rage she both feared and understood. She was pissed.

"You don't understand. William is still out there, and if I don't stop him-," Annette tried, but the girls weren't having it.

"Fuck William lady! Your daughter is sick!" Veronica shouted.

"This conversation is over!" her companion tacked on before starting to lift Sherry into her arms as she tried to stand. Veronica helped lift her till Claire was on her feet and safely in her grasp.

"Wait! Wait…" Annette stopped them. "I…I can treat her…in my lab. It's not far away." Sherry hiccupped slightly in pain before opening her eyes to the camera.

"M-mommy?" she stuttered out. Annette was quiet again.

"There's not enough time…Millions of lives are at stake," she muttered as she finally considered the options. Veronica's heart sank. Sherry was doomed. "Sherry…Mommy loves you, sweetie…Goodbye," she cooed before the camera light turned off.

"No!"

"Are you fucking kidding me!?" Claire brokenly cursed. She swallowed down the anger and turned to the child in her arms. "Sherry, don't worry. We will get you whatever you need, ok?"

Sherry hiccupped and gasped before finally responding. "Wh-why are you doing this?" Claire's eyes softened to ones that made Veronica's heart skip a beat. Gentle and kind.

"Because we care," the young biker said softly, voiced choking up.

Looking up at the other girl, Veronica felt it hit her right then and there. Just like that she had fallen for this girl and there was no stopping it. Despite flirting all night long, this…this feeling was real. But now wasn't the time. Veronica had to suppress it now and fast. This was something she would have to deal with later for their little survivor's sake. She reached up to tuck Sherry's hair away from her face. The echo of her own sister replayed back in her head and made her ache.

"We got you, Chickadee. We promise," she whispered. Sherry's bottom lip quivered.

"Thank you. Both of you," Sherry said, voice strained with eyes that began to glisten with tears. She smiled at them both with a ghost of a smile before wincing in pain again.

"Claire, let's go." The two made their way out of the garbage room and back to the control room to form some sort of plan.

"Annette said her lab's not far," Claire noted.

"But where? We've looked everywhere."

"Wait," Claire's face lit up as she remembered, "that cable car."

"Has Umbrellas logo and everything. It must lead to it."

With that thought in mind, they sped out to the cable car. Claire didn't seem to be having any trouble carrying the small girl, which was good considering that Veronica's arm strength was something left to be desired. But if she had to, she'd gladly hold her for her turn.

"Hold on, Sherry," Claire reassured her. "You're going to be fine."

"There's gotta be a way to fix this. Every virus should have a contingency plan, right? Maybe a cure?" Veronica wondered worriedly.

"I hope so. Almost there, Sherry. We're almost there." Luckily for them, the car was still there. Annette hadn't left with it yet. "Oh, good. The cable car."

"Glad no one has taken it before us."

As they approached the cable car, they suddenly remembered that they needed an I.D wristband to get inside. But before they could question it, the door beeped in acceptance and slid open for them. Claire looked down at Sherry's arm which had moved from swinging at her side to her lap. On her wrist was the wristband they needed glowing green to match the door's screen.

"Oh!" they both yelped out in surprise.

It was a metal car with control panels on either end and a window peering through the front and back. In the middle of the car was a bench to sit on, which Claire took the opportunity to head to.

"Here…Ok," she whispered. Veronica decided to play as the pillow and sat first before reaching out for Sherry. "Here ya go…" Claire laid Sherry out onto the bench, laying her head on Veronica's lap. "Just hold on, Sherry, ok? You're gonna be just fine."

"Don't worry, Claire. I got her," Veronica whispered in assurance. Claire nodded and kissed Veronica's forehead before standing back up to search for the switch to turn on the car.

"Ok…better check everything," Claire muttered to herself. "There's no turning back."

"I don't think there's anything we left behind. I say we go," Veronica suggested.

"Yeah, we don't have time to go back anyways. Let's get this thing moving."

At the front of the car was a giant control board, but the obvious stood out. With a pull of a switch, the car jerked with a start. Slowly but surely, it began its journey down to NEST.

"This tram is bound for NEST. Do not exit until the final destination," the automated voice said above them over the intercom.
