This totally happened in-game.

Paula patted Ness on the back, "You feeling better now?"

Ness nodded his head, and him, Paula, and Poo started heading to the door. However, Jeff hung around by the payphone.

"Jeff?"

Jeff flew his head up, "Huh? Uh, yeah? Yeah, I'm coming."

Ness looked at Jeff, studying his face before he handed him money for the phone, "Jeff, did you want to call home, too?"

Jeff looked at the bill Ness handed him. He hesitated. Paula took the bill out of Ness' hand and put it into Jeff's, "Come on, let's wait for him outside."

"Huh? Bu-"

Poo already left, but Paula ushered Ness out, "Come on."

Jeff stood dazed for a second before he walked up to the payphone and shook his head, "Psychics..."

But who was he going to call? It wasn't like he ever talked to his father that much or knew anyone else, so where-

"Snow Wood boarding house, hello?"

Jeff froze up, he instinctively dialed the number he didn't even know that he knew. Now that he had to speak, he sputtered, "Uh, yeah, hi, uhm," he said the first name that came to his head, "Tony?"

"Yes, let me see if I can find him," he heard a voice faintly on the other end, "Oh, Tony, what great timing, it's for you."

There was a long pause and more whispering Jeff couldn't make out.

Finally, Tony came on the line, "Hello, who is it?"

"Uhhhhmmm, h-hey Tony."

"! J-JE-*ahem*" Tony paused to avoid getting him in any trouble, "You! What are you doing? How long has it been? Where are you? When are you coming ba-coming?"

"Tony, I called to, well," Jeff paused, why did he call, exactly?

"Oh Tony, there's just so many stories to tell you, I don't even know where to start."

Jeff fell silent.

In his silence, Tony picked up, "Well, thanks for calling."

"Mm."

"I was worried about you, you know."

"Mm."

"I didn't know why you didn't call me. I was worried you just thought I was annoying."

"Mm."

"And every day's been so, just, well, you know," Tony whispered, "Lonely without you, I guess."

"Tony."

"You know, I'm not as good at school as you are, so it's hard to concentrate."

"Tony."

"Not to mention my head isn't even really here anyways."

"Tony."

"Yeah?"

"It's good to hear your voice, too."

There was a long pause, "Thanks."

Tony continued, "When are you coming?"

"We're preparing to go somewhere pretty far and, Tony, I hope I come back, I really do, but..."

"What do you mean?" Tony spoke in a definitive tone, "You are coming back."

"Tony, listen to me, I am doing something very dangerous."

Tony immediately accepted, and replied in a hushed tone, "Why?"

"Because either I come back to the boarding house, everyone else, and you but everyone dies; or I do this and, everyone maybe doesn't die."

The two went silent for a moment.

"Hey, I have a weird favour to ask of you."

"Anything."

"If you wake up in the middle of the night, and," Jeff paused for a second, "I know this doesn't make any sense, but given all the strange things I've seen so far and situations I've been in," he sighed, "If you feel something's up, then, uhm."

Jeff shook his head, this wasn't the time for these sort of inhibitions, "Pray for me."

Tony answered without hesitation, "I will. I'll make everyone in this entire boarding house pray for you!"

Jeff held the receiver to his ear delicately, "Mm."

They both stayed on the phone, neither really saying anything for a time.

Jeff looked around, noticing the other three staring right at him, "I thought you three! Oh, I, ugh, sorry Tony, I got to go."

Jeff hung up, "You guys, uh, heard all of that, huh?"

Ness shook his head, "No. We just came in. Paula said you were done."

Jeff grinned and shook his head in disbelief.

Ness asked, "Did you have a nice phone call with your family?"

"Family, huh?" Jeff looked away towards the ground; his glasses all fogged up and face red hot before continuing, "Yeah."
