A new day had risen upon Heaven; the crisp morning dew danced along the meadows. The Corridors of Heaven were silent; everyone except one particular Archangel was still asleep. Peace couldn't contain his excitement as today was the day of his first flying lesson. He stared intensely at the clock on his nightstand, waiting for what felt like hours for the clock to strike six. His legs shook with excitement, his mind raced with thoughts, and his face smiled with anticipation as the clock was five seconds away from six, then four, then three, then two, then…
"Today's the day!" Peace practically jumped from his bed, too excited to turn off his alarm. He quickly put on his sandals before running out of his room. His little feet ran as fast as they could, bringing him down the hall to the eldest Angel's room. Before he opened the bedroom door, he leaned and put his ear against the door and listened closely. Light snoring followed by rustling movement could be heart, which meant that his older brother must be awake.
" Vexis, are you awake?" The young angel whispered as he poked his head through the door. The elder angel did not respond other than movement and continuous soft snoring. Peace opened the door fully and, without thinking twice, sprinted and jumped on the now-awake angel.
"Vexis! Wake up, wake up!" The elder yelped as he felt his brother jump up and down on his back. Peace jumped, pulled on his warrior skirt, threw the quilt off him, and even started pulling on his wings, finally making the elder flip onto his back and catch his brother mid-jump.
"Why are you doing up, Peace? Why are you not in your bed?" Vexis gently sat his brother down on his lap as he rubbed his eyes, trying not to lose the sleep that he still had left.
"How can I be in bed knowing that today is my first flying lesson!" Peace returned to jumping up and down on his bed, simply too excited to sit anywhere. Vexis sat quietly on his bed, watching as his brother rambled about flying. He let out a heavy sigh before falling back onto his bed.
"It is too early, Peace. Go back to sleep." Vexis picked his blanket off the ground and rolled onto his side to try to sleep again peacefully. But his brother didn't let him do that, as he pulled the blanket off him again.
"But I can't! I am super duper excited for today! Get up so we can get an early start!" Peace jumped off the bed and started pulling with all his might on Vexis' arm, but the elder didn't move since his younger brother wasn't strong enough. Vexis mumbled something into his pillow and stood up from his bed, knowing his younger brother wouldn't give up pestering him.
"Fine. Since I know you won't give up, we'll go out and start your flying lesson." Peace almost screamed excitedly and ran out of his brother's room to go outside. Vexis sighed again but soon smiled, remembering that he was once his brother, pestering his Father non-stop to give him his flying lessons.
Once Vexis was finally ready, he took his little brother to his favorite place to give fledglings their flying lesson. It was somewhere deep in the woods, with many animals roaming around. The smell of wet wood and moss surrounded the woods, which didn't bother them as they enjoyed the Earthy smell. As they walked deeper, they reached their destination. It was a big open field with different kinds of flowers all around, with a giant pond in the middle. It was almost just as beautiful as the rest of Heaven.
"Here we are, isn't it nice, little brother?" Vexis held onto Peace's hand as they walked through the field. The fledgling was so amazed at the sight that he didn't even hear what his brother had said. He stared at the animals, who stared back at him, giving them a friendly wave. As they passed the pond, he could see his and his brother's reflection in the water, watching as the fish followed them curiously. He then finally looked up to see where his brother was taking him.
"Wait, we are going all the way up there?" Peace pointed to two very tall trees that both had platforms on them. Vexis lifted his eyebrow in confusion and looked up to see where his brother was pointing.
"No, no, don't worry. Those are for experienced flyers like me and the rest of your brothers and sisters." The elder could see the relief settle in as Peace relaxed his face.
"That looks like it goes up fifty million trillion feats in the air!" Vexis chuckled as his brother motioned his hands upwards, imitating what he had just said.
Just past the two tall trees stood two small trees. They, too, each had a platform at the end of then but were much closer to each other and more minor.
"This is where all the young angels like you go to learn how to fly. Are you ready to start?"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Peace jumped happily up and down, running and leaving his brother behind to go and climb up the first tree.
