Chapter 19: Raid Battle in the Ruins

The massive figure stepped out into the arena, revealing it to be a giant Golurk, and it didn't look very happy to see them.

"Woah, a Golurk!"

"Do you think this is the Colossus the passage warned us about?"

"I don't know, but I'd say it's a safe bet."

"Ah man, I was hoping it'd be a shiny!"

Kira just gave her stepbrother an incredulous look.

"Really? That's what you choose to focus on?"

"What?"

The giant Golurk raised his massive fists and slammed them into the ground, creating massive shockwaves that rocked the ruins. Everyone took cover as stones began to fall.

"If we don't do something soon, he'll destroy the whole cave system!"

"Then there's only one thing to do! Dragonite, I choose you!"

"Right! Jangmo-o, Go!"

"You too, Beedrill!"

"Give us a hand, Meditite!"

"Go, Litwick!"

Shane, knowing he was out of his league, tried to sneak out, but Kira caught him.

"Oh no you don't! It was your clumsiness that got us in this mess, so you're going to help us get out of it!"

"B-bu-Oh, fine. Come on Psyduck, let's get this over with. Use Water Gun!

"Psybeam, Golurk!"

"Dragonite, use Dragon Pulse!"

The three energy attacks struck the Golurk dead center, making it stumble back in pain. However, he was not deterred, launching a giant Shadow Ball that struck Meditite, knocking it out and blowing back the other three Pokemon that had fired on him.

"Return, Meditite! You did good. Go, Braviary! Use Aerial Ace!"

"Twinneedle, Beedrill!"

"Dragon Claw, Jangmo-o!"

"Litwick, use Fire Spin!"

While Litwick created a wall of fire to surround the Ghost Type, Beedrill and Braviary flew in and began scratching and stabbing at the giant, forcing it to raise its arms to protect himself. But Jangmo-o took the chance and started striking at the giant's legs, making him stumble backwards as he struggled to remain upright.

"Alright guys, keep it up!"

Forced into a corner, Golurk built up and released a lot of spiritual energy, knocking the three Pokemon backwards. After that, it vanished into thin air.

"Where'd it go?"

"Could it have given up?"

"Somehow I doubt it."

Just then, Golurk emerged from the shadows behind kira. Unbeknownst to her, the giant Pokemon raised his fist and got ready to strike. By the time anyone had noticed, his fist was already halfway to her head.

"Kira, look out!"

"Wh-AAAAAAAAAH!"
Luckily, Shane was quick enough to push her out of the way, Golurk's fist slamming into the ground the second they were out of the way, sending shockwaves throughout the chamber. Kira stared at her stepbrother in shock.

"You…you saved me."

"You can thank me later, but right now we need to finish this guy off before he brings the whole place down on us!"

"Right. Braviary, Brave Bird!"

"Water Pulse, Psyduck!"

Braviary flew straight up to Golurk and rammed into him, making the giant Pokemon clutch its face in pain. Before he could collect his bearings, Psyduck's Water Pulse hit him, causing him to stumble about in confusion.

"Alright, time to end this! Dragonite, use Hyper Beam!"

"Pin Missile, Beedrill!"

"Dragon Pulse, Jangmo-o!"

"Air Slash, Braviary!"

"Hydro Pump, Psyduck!"

"Flamethrower, Litwick!"

By the time Golurk had collected itself, the combination of attacks had already hit him, quickly depleting its energy while it tried to fight back. Once the attacks had ceased, it stumbled about for a minute before falling to the ground, defeated. Seeing his opportunity, Goh took out a Pokeball and threw it, catching Golurk easily.

"Alright, I just caught a Golurk!"

"Scorbunny!"

Taking out his Rotomphone, Goh quickly looked up Golurk's entry.

"Golurk, the Automaton Pokemon. A Ground and Ghost Type. When the seal on its chest is removed, it loses control of its own energy. This Pokemon has no known Gender."

"Sweet! A genderless Pokemon."

Just then, a low rumbling ran through the corridor.

"Oh man, not another one!"
Everyone got on guard, but the wall shifted down to reveal not another Colossus, but a room line with gold.

"Woah! Look at all of this gold!"

"This must be where the kings' treasure was buried!"

"We're rich! We're rich!"

"No way, I've had enough of these ancient guardians for one day. Let's just leave it here and move on."

"Agreed."

"Fine, but I'm still taking some antiques for the museum!"

While their father took a few items from the walls, Kira and Shane had a heart-to-heart.

"Hey, uh…Shane. Thanks for the save back there."

"Ah, it was nothing!"

"It was really brave and all. Listen, I'm sorry for all the mean things I've said. You really can hold your own."

"Hey, don't sell yourself short! Think you can teach me to sand surf sometime?"
"You might want to get yourself a Flying Type first. Tell ya what, I know this great canyon where Flying Pokemon like to roost. How about you and I head up there sometime and catch you one?"

"Really? I'd love to!"

Ash and Lillie watched the two make up.

"Man, what a day. Explored ancient ruins, fought a giant Pokemon, and helped a family bond."

"Yep. All in a day's work for a Pokemon Master!"

"Who cares about that, I caught a Golurk! Did you see how big it was? That was awesome!"

Everyone had a good laugh as they left the ruins. One thing was for sure, it had been quite the exciting day.
