The Great Detective Pikachu. A mysterious Pikachu who claims to be a great detective. During a case, he had gotten amnesia, and his partner, Harry Goodman, had disappeared. For some odd reason, he can only be heard by those from other worlds and Tim Goodman, Harry's son. Together, they and the alliance cracked down on a case involving the chemical known as R, a chemical that made Pokemon go berserk, and a hostage situation involving James Flux kidnapping Kaede Akamatsu. Both cases were solved rather quickly. However, Harry is still missing and the two continue to search for him.
It had been awhile since the cases involving the Yo-kai had concluded, and the group sat in an audience looking up as the mayor spoke.
"And so, to promote an even stronger bond between the people and Pokémon of Ryme City, I hereby declare this day the start of Pokémon Friendship Week. To start things off, I would like to present this award to Tim Goodman and Pikachu, who saved…" the mayor said.
The Pikachu up there awoke with the start. "Harry!"
"Oh…uh…Pika indeed." the mayor said. "Guess that's the signal I should wrap this speech up then." he said as the audience chuckled.
"Wow… you couldn't have picked a worse time to doze off." Tim sighed. Tim had gotten a little older since the last time the Hero Alliance saw him. He was now 20, but he still had his iconic red hoodie on.
"Sorry, sorry." Detective Pikachu apologized.
"Can't believe we were all brought back together just to listen to a mayor giving a speech." Catra said.
"It's not just a speech Catra. It's been two years here in Ryme City since the R Incident. People living here have been doubting the city's policy of people and Pokemon living in harmony." Hope said.
"Well some of us weren't exactly here the first time around, so you need to forgive us for lacking in history." Tsubaki said.
"Yeah…and you guys are joking with that talking Pikachu bit. All I'm hearing is Pika Pika." Penny said.
"Ah right, she and the others are originally from this world." Ragna remembered.
"You see Penny, that Pikachu can only be understood by that boy next to him, Tim Goodman, and those from outside this world." Hope said.
"Still think you've lost your mind." Penny said.
Catra groaned. "At least Flamberge isn't here to sit through this borefest. She'd probably get impatient as always and lose her mind for real."
"Yeah, where is The Berge anyway?" Hapi asked.
"She said she was heading to a Private Duel Academy to learn to be better at Duel Monsters." Sachiko said.
"At least GM is happy that Flamberge has something else to curb her obsessions." David said.
"Yeah and gained a new one in the process. What am I worried about? She's never gonna be able to beat Shuffle." Lan said.
"And there was this girl she met who gave her the invite to her Academy who wants to beat you." Entrapta said.
"Girl? Oh…that crazy stalker who kept following me around all day that day." Lan said.
"She wants to beat you cause of how you beat Kaiba." Entrapta said.
"Okay, he was under mind control and serving a maniac. If anything, I should be thanked, not be sought out for revenge." Lan said.
"It's a pride thing. Don't take it more seriously than you should." David said.
"I'm sure Flamberge will be okay at this Duel Academy, she can take care of herself. Plus she promised she'd come running back if there's trouble. She wants to try and balance school with hero work like David does." Hope said.
"Yeah, but the main difference between me and her is… I'm not usually a total asshat about it." David said.
"Wait, what's that even supposed to-?" Hope started to ask.
"Uh, guys?" Glimmer asked. "Don't look now, but I think I see something incoming."
Above them, they saw a large bird flying down.
"Isn't that a Corviknight?" Arven said.
"Yeah, and he looks rather agitated. Move!" David said as the group ducked down.
Corviknight started cawing like crazy as it started flapping its wings to whip up a big gust.
"Sir, follow me!" the mayor's attendant directed, leading the mayor to safety as he dropped a notebook.
"Everyone! Get inside right away!" Tim called as the civilians fled the premises as Corviknight continued to run wild.
"Agh, what's with this guy?!" Catra asked as the heroes were buffeted by the winds.
"Hey, you're the one who wanted a little excitement!" Eddy pointed out.
"This isn't what I had in mind when I said that!" Catra said.
"Is this that R stuff you all mentioned?" Mark asked.
"No…this behavior is completely different from that." Shuichi said.
"It's alright! Just calm down!" Detective Pikachu tried to reason with Corviknight. The Raven Pokémon responded by knocking the talking Pokémon down and flying away, the detective's hat gripped in its talons.
"Pikachu, you okay?!" Mahiru asked.
"Agh! Lousy Corviknight!" Pikachu replied. "It just made off with my signature hat!"
"My dad gave you that hat…" Tim remembered.
"Yeah. We gotta get it back!" Detective Pikachu said..
"Right…let's start by…whoa….what's this?" Vector said as he picked up a book. "It's the mayor's…he must have dropped it when the people ran."
"There's a photo sticking out." Rebecca said.
They pulled out the photo to see the mayor with a woman and a young girl.
"Hey…that girl…she was the one who frowned during the whole thing." Eijiro said.
"That's Rachel. She's one of my classmates." Tim said. "She knows a lot about Pokémon."
"Hm. We'll have to remember to return this notebook once we conclude the current problem." Double D noted, before he caught sight of a man and an Audino standing over a knocked-out Pidove. "Oh dear…"
"Looks like that Pidove was hit when Corviknight attacked." Ash K said.
"If we could wake it up, we could figure out where Corviknight flew off to." Chopper said.
"Hmm….oh! I know what we need to do!" Arven said as he ran off. After a few minutes, he returned with a pink Pokémon.
"What is that?" Carmine asked.
"Aromatisse…a Pokémon known for its fragrance. Its scent should help Pidove recover." Arven said.
Aromatisse then approached the fallen Pidove as it unleashed its fragrances and the Pidove soon snapped back into consciousness.
"Alright! Now, where's that Corviknight?" Eddy asked.
As if on cue, the Corviknight in question flew on by.
"There he is!" Ed pointed out.
"After it!" Jexi said as the group quickly started chasing after Corviknight.
They continued chasing it for awhile until they noticed something.
"Wait!" Twilight said.
"Why did you stop us? We need to…" Ajna said.
"No look. It doesn't have the hat anymore." Twilight said.
"Then where could it be?" Kaito asked.
David and Shuichi were eyeing some toppled down apple crates.
"Maybe he dropped it somewhere here." Shuichi said.
"How can you tell?" Steven asked.
"The crate is turned over. Corviknight probably knocked it over when making its escape." Shuichi said.
"Oh yeah! And if Corviknight knocked it over, then Pikachu's hat must've been scrapped off its talon when it clipped on it." Tsumugi said.
"So what you're saying is, if that we look behind the crate, we'll find…" Eddy said, doing so as he spotted Pikachu's detective hat lying on the ground. "Jackpot! Now come here you…" he said, reaching for it as the hat moved away. "What the?" he said as the hat was moving on its own.
"Eddy please cease your tomfoolery." Double D said.
"Hey, it ain't my fault! Pikachu's hat is moving on its own!" Eddy said. "Must be some Pokémon under there."
"I…think I might have a good idea what." Kieran said. He pointed over to some of the apples nearby as they were moving. "That apple crate was carrying some Applin."
"You were able to notice that, Kieran? Nice work." Kaito said.
"Well apples are sort of a mainstay in Kitakami and Applin are very common there." Kieran said as the hat started moving up a tree.
"Now it's going up a tree? Ha…not smart." Catra said.
"Uh…that's not a tree." Twilight said as they all took a better look to see that said tree was an Alolan Exeggutor.
"An Exeggutor all the way from Alola." Mari said.
"I've never seen one before… it must've come from overseas." Tim said.
"Yeah, must be managing this fruit stand." Detective Pikachu said. "So, who wants to volunteer to climb this big guy?"
"Well, it's your hat. Shouldn't you do it?" Lei asked.
"Yeah…but….okay fine. Bunch of lazy…" Detective Pikachu said as he started climbing up the Exeggutor.
He climbed up the Exeggutor before finally reaching his hat. He pulled it off to show the Applin hiding underneath, the shock causing Applin to hit Detective Pikachu in the face as all three fell right to the ground.
"Oh…that had to hurt." Ruby said.
"Yeesh…that was a hassle." Detective Pikachu said as he put his hat on. "Now this is more like it."
"I gotta say, it does complete the look." Akane said.
"You bet it does. Harry even gave me this hat as a symbol of our partnership." Detective Pikachu said.
"The award ceremony will resume shortly. We ask that all participants please return to the venue at this time." an announcement rang out.
"They're starting the ceremony again? But what about Corviknight?" Kieran asked.
"I'll let it off the hook for now." Detective Pikachu said. "Besides, it's probably long gone by now."
"What could've caused it to go wild like that? It wasn't R. If it was affected by that drug, we would've seen the obvious symptom of its eyes glowing red." Hope said.
"More than that, it should have been going completely berserk. It seemed like it was more controlled this time." Twilight said.
"Sounds like something we need to get a look at." Adora said.
"Yeah, and hopefully this may give us another lead on what happened to Harry." Hope said as Tim and Pikachu went back to the ceremony. "I want to help Tim find his dad. So far, the only lead we had on Harry's disappearance was Mewtwo. His DNA was the key to making R before Roger was stopped. But ever since Roger was arrested, Mewtwo's have been MIA."
"Well, Mewtwo doesn't seem all that fond of humans if we're being honest." Dan said.
"Plus those two have been doing several cases since we split up. The Eevee Abduction case, the fossil stealing spree, standoff at Ryme Tower…" Sunset said.
"They made a whole movie based on the whole R case." Odd said.
"Wait a minute, I think I saw that one!" ZS remarked. "I think they took a few creative liberties with the source material, though."
"Yeah movies do their own thing. Like how Tim's mom and younger sister didn't appear in it at all." Titanica said.
"In any case, we can start looking into leads involving Corviknight tomorrow." Mark said. "For now, we should head back to the King, see if we can't find any additional information."
"Yeah…maybe the evening news will have something on it. Besides, I am starving." Jexi said.
They headed home that evening and gathered for dinner as they saw on the news about explosions involving Pokémon as well as a picture of Mewtwo being chased by Beedrill.
"Huh. How they managed to capture that picture, we'll never know." Emo remarked. "Still…this isn't good news."
"You think those Beedrill were ordered to chase Mewtwo down?" Adora wondered. "Given how valuable he is, I wouldn't be surprised."
"And he said that Harry was alive. Mewtwo is currently our only chance of solving this case involving Pikachu and Harry Goodman." Shuichi said.
"Then we'll keep an eye out for him." Mark said. "I'm more curious about those explosions. If it's not R causing these Pokémon to do it, then what is?"
"Too early to say. We'll have to dig around Ryme City to find out. There's just so many questions left unanswered." Hope said.
"Yeah, you've kept this on the backburner for years. It's time we did something about finding Harry." Glimmer said.
"Yeah….tomorrow. Tonight…we eat and enjoy the city." Pit said.
The group nodded and agreed with this.
