Chapter 2: Electric Shock Rematch Part 2
"Bring it on, Surge! My Pokemon and I can take anything you throw at us!"
Dragonite howled in agreement, banging her claws together to try and intimidate the older man.
"We'll see about that. Go, Raichu!"
The lieutenant's ace stomped onto the ground, much larger and stronger than the last time Ash had faced it. Despite this, Ash was undeterred by its attempt at intimidation.
"Dragonite, are you still able to battle?"
The Dragon type nodded, tail wagging eagerly at the prospect of fighting such a strong opponent.
"Alright then, show him what you've got!"
"Dragonite vs Raichu, begin!"
"Hit Raichu with a Twister, Dragonite!"
"Light Screen, Raichu!"
Dragonite began spinning around in a circle, creating a small twister that started barreling towards Raichu at full speed. Luckily, Raichu was able to create several small psychic barriers just before it connected, softening the blow enough that it only pushed him back a few feet.
"Full power Thunderbolt, Raichu!"
"Dodge with Extreme Speed!"
"Don't let up! Keep going until it hits!"
Raichu immediately began firing thunderbolts off one after the other, Dragonite flipping over each and everyone expertly until one managed to hit her.
"Power through with Dragon Rush!"
"Keep it up until she gets close, then use Iron Tail!"
Despite the pain she was in, Dragonite surged through the electricity, ramming Raichu with such force that he went flying, but not without striking her with his tail. However, both the constant electricity and Raichu's Static ability left her paralyzed.
"Dragonite, shake it off!"
"Volt Tackle, Raichu!"
Despite her best efforts, Dragonite remained fully paralyzed, leaving her wide open to being rammed by Raichu, causing her great amounts of pain.
"Don't give up, Dragonite! Use Dragonbreath!"
"Thunder Punch, Raichu!"
Dragonite forced her mouth open and let loose a blast of energy within, managing to push Raichu back a bit. But Raichu was quick to recover, and powered through with his sparking fist before connecting with her jaw, stopping Dragonite's attack dead in its tracks. After a moment, the dragon type fell over, defeated.
"Dragonite is unable to battle, Raichu wins!"
Up in the stands, Ash's friends could only stare in shock.
"He took Dragonite out just like that?"
"She barely stood a chance!"
Visquez chuckled, and nodded in agreement.
"I told you, Surge had been training for this rematch for years. If your friend wants to have any chance of winning, then he needs to bring his A game."
Ash, however, remained unfettered as he returned Dragonite to her Pokeball.
"Good job, Dragonite. Get some rest."
He then turned towards his ever faithful companion.
"You ready, buddy?"
"Pika!"
"Then go get him!"
Pikachu leapt from his shoulder onto the battlefield, eyeing down his old foe.
"Pikachu vs Raichu, begin!"
"Volt Tackle!"
Both electric types charged towards each other at increasing speed, clashing in the middle before the force of impact forced them apart.
"Body Slam, Raichu!"
"Jump, then use Iron Tail!"
Raichu tried to jump on his pre-evolved form, but Pikachu was quicker, jumping just in time to avoid his falling body before striking his opponent on the back of the neck on their way down.
"Now use Electro Web!"
While Raichu lay on the ground trying to get back on his feet, a web of electricity fell on top of him, trapping him on the floor.
"Thundershock, Pikachu!"
"Cut the web with your tail, then use Thunderbolt!"
Raichu sliced the net open, firing his own bolt of lightning at Pikachu just as his younger form fired his own, both attacks striking their respective opponent. For a while, the two exchanged bolts of lightning, taking damage from each hit but still refusing to back down.
"What power! Neither side is conceding an inch!"
Ash's friends watched on in concern.
"Pikachu can't keep this up forever."
"Neither can Raichu, though. One of them will have to give up eventually."
"Yes, but the question is who?"
Kubfu remained silent in Lillie's arms, watching intensely as the battle raged on.
Ash, having come to the same realization that Lillie had, raised his hand up to reveal his Z-Ring.
"Alright buddy, time to end this!"
Despite how tired he was, Pikachu nodded, accepting Ash's hat as the electric energy from his Z-Ring flowed into him. Lt. Surge and his Raichu watched on in confusion.
"What's this kid think he's doing?"
"This is the power of Alola! 10,000,000 volt Thunderbolt!"
Once he was fully charged with Z-Power, Pikachu unleashed a tremendously sized bolt of thunder.
"Don't just stand there! Thunderbolt!"
Raichu nodded, and released his own version of the electric type attack, only for it to be absorbed by the much more powerful attack before it struck Raichu, creating a huge explosion that covered the arena in smoke. When the dust settled, Raichu was still standing, but only for a moment before collapsing.
"Raichu is unable to battle! Pikachu wins, which means Ash Ketchum is the winner!"
Excitedly, Ash ran up to Pikachu and gave him a big hug.
"Yes! We did it, buddy!"
"Pika!"
Despite losing once again, Lt. Surge couldn't help but grin, letting out a hearty chuckle as he returned his ace.
"You did good, Raichu. Get some rest, and we'll train even harder tomorrow."
After that, the two of them met in the middle and shook hands.
"Congrats, kid. Guess I've still got a lot to learn."
"Thanks, Lt. Surge. You gave me and my Pokemon a tough battle."
"As a result of today's battle, there has been a change in the World Coronation Series's rankings!"
Ash turned to the scoreboard which now showed the new rankings for the participants. After the battle, his rank had only risen to 94, which made him whistle.
"Man. I've still got a long way to go."
Pikachu nuzzled his cheek affectionately, making him grin.
"You're right, buddy. That just means more fun battles to be had!"
"Pika!"
Later that evening, after healing their Pokemon at the Pokemon Center, the trio was ready to head back to the lab, Lt. Surge and Visquez seeing them off.
"You'd better win the whole thing, you hear? You're not allowed to lose until I beat you."
Ash chuckled, but nodded.
"I'll be waiting."
"And Ash, I'm going to get stronger too. Once I reach the Ultra Class, I'll be coming for you!"
"Oh yeah? Bring it!"
Everyone had a good laugh before the trio left for home.
"So Kubfu, how did you enjoy the battle?"
Kubfu pumped his fists with excitement.
"Kubfu!"
"Great, because the moment we get back we're going to start training you!"
When Kubfu heard this, he leapt out of Lillie's arms and began sprinting towards the laboratory. Ash chuckled, and took off after him, their friends just sighing.
"Those two are perfect for each other."
"Tell me about it."
"Pika."
A/N: Hey guys, before I leave I wanted to get your opinion on something. Lately, I feel like I haven't been doing a lot with Lillie, and I want to change that. I don't want her to turn into one of those love interests who only serve to make their significant other look good, after all. I have some ideas on what to do with her, but I want to get your opinions. Do you want her to do contests, become a Pokemon Breeder, become a Pokemon Researcher, or something else entirely? I'll also be running a poll on my profile for this topic. I'd really appreciate the feedback. Thanks!
