Chapter 111: Save the Future!
The large group made their way to the top of Mount Coronet, fending off wild Pokemon along the way. Goh had wanted to catch a few of the regional variants, including a steel type Goomy, but Ash deterred him.
"We don't want to screw up the timeline more than we already have," he reminded him, to which he reluctantly agreed. At last, they reached the summit, where they found a large temple erected on the summit.
"Alright, here goes nothing."
"Be on your guard. We have no idea what awaits us in there."
Cautiously, the group entered the temple. Statues of the Noble Pokemon lined the walls giving the building an eerie feel. At last, they reached the end of the temple, where they found a large, dark blue Pokemon waiting, its red eyes glaring down at them.
"Dialga," Ash whispered, making Adaman and Irida curious.
"What's a Dialga?"
"He has power over time itself. In other words, your Lord Sinnoh."
Adaman looked over at Irida and smirked.
"Well, I guess we now know who's right! How does it feel to find out you've been worshiping a false god all along?"
Irida, for her part, said nothing, but she did glare at him. Dialga roared, furious at seeing the intruders.
"Dialga, listen, please! The time stream is in danger, you need to fix it!"
But Dialga refused to listen, instead blasting them with a Hyper Beam, the group barely managing to dodge in time.
"Alright, so much for the diplomatic approach."
"Do it now!"
Ash nodded, and with Adaman and Irida's help threw the red chain at Dialga. The chain wrapped around its body before snapping into place, trapping Dialga where it stood. The time god howled, but no matter how much it strained there was nothing it could do.
"Alright, now listen! You need to put a stop to this before something goes horribly wrong!"
"Heracross, use Megahorn!"
Suddenly, a Heracross leapt into the fray, darting past our heroes and ramming his horn right into Dialga.
"What the-"
Suddenly, Kamado burst into the room, decked out in armor.
"I should've known you lot would be here. You've caused enough destruction, now leave!"
"We're not the cause of this, we're here to put a stop to it!"
"Pah! As if, now be good boys and girls and let the adult finish this. Heracross, use Superpower to break that chain!"
"No!"
But it was too late. With one swift chop, Heracross broke through the chain, destroying all of their hard work in one fell swoop.
"Now Lord Sinnoh, come with me and we will crush these fools!"
But instead of being grateful for the rescue, Dialga was even more enraged, and let out a roar so loud it blasted Heracross back. Then, to Kamado's horror, Heracross glowed, before reverting back into an egg.
"Wh-What just happened?"
"Roar of Time, Dialga's signature move," Ash answered. "A move so powerful it cuts through time itself, and as you can see its effects are quite devastating."
Kamado knelt down, cradling the egg as tears fell from his eyes.
"Heracross…my oldest friend, I'm so sorry…"
He then looked up at the others, face filled with remorse.
"I'm so sorry…please, do whatever you can to stop it! No one else should have to suffer for my foolishness."
"We'll try…"
To make matters worse, Palkia burst into the room, the two immediately going at it once more. Ash could see the powerful attacks they were both charging, and knew what was coming.
"Everyone, run for cover!"
The group ran as fast as they could, getting to safety just in time for the building to explode behind them. For a moment it looked like the two legendaries had destroyed one another, only to appear in mid-air right above everyone and continue fighting.
"Another Lord Sinnoh?"
"That's Palkia, and he controls Space. Those two have been going at it for millenia."
Adaman and Irida looked at each other, equal looks of astonishment on their faces.
"We were both right?"
"In a way, I suppose so."
"Hey guys, now isn't the time for an existential crisis! We have to find a way to stop them, and fast!"
"Right. Vaporeon, use Water Pulse!"
"Glaceon, use Ice Beam!"
"Powder Snow, Snowy!"
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
"Pyro Ball, Cinderace!"
"Copycat, Eevee!"
"Leafeon, Solar Beam!"
"Hydro Pump, Marshstomp!"
"Braviary, use Psybeam!"
"Mamoswine, use Ice Beam!"
The attacks connected with their targets, making them temporarily stop fighting to howl in pain. However, this only made things worse, as the Pokemon devolved into their base forms. Except for…
"Snowy, no!"
"Eevee!"
Chloe and Lillie could only stare in horror as their Pokemon turned back into their eggs. Lillie could only sob uncontrollably as she clutched the egg to her chest.
"Snowy, please come back! PLEASE!"
"Lillie…"
"Guys, it's coming again!"
Thinking quickly, everyone covered their Pokemon, not wanting any more harm to come to them. Luckily, this did the trick, but at the cost of all of them becoming younger.
"Ok, I know I've been feeling my age lately, but this isn't the solution I had in mind!" Professor Laventon said.
"Guys, this is no good, we need to regroup and think of a new plan!"
"Right!"
Everyone took off running, except Lillie. All she could do is hopelessly clutch her starter's egg, tears falling down her face.
"Snowy…Why? Why does this keep happening to me? First Ash disappears, then he doesn't remember me, now you? Please, someone, ANYONE, Stop this!"
Suddenly, as if the universe heard her plea for help, A gold and white figure descended from the sky, everyone gasping in awe at its beauty. Even Dialga and Palkia stopped their fighting as their creator approached them, furiously grunting and gesturing to their wake of destruction.
"ARCEUS!"
"DIALGA!"
"PALKIA!"
Arceus snorted, his body glowing bright red. Realizing they were in big trouble, Dialga and Palkia disappeared, the time-space rift closing behind them. Once the two were gone, Arceus turned to the group of humans, who were still too stunned to speak. With a nod, he glowed, restoring everyone and their Pokemon to their proper age and stage of evolution, including Eevee and Snowy.
"Eevee, are you ok?"
"Vee!"
Lillie clutched her started close to her, crying tears of joy as she held onto her.
"Snowy! Oh thank god you're okay, I…I don't know what I would do if I lost you!"
Snowy smiled, and licked Lillie's face. Once her tears had dried, Lillie turned to the god Pokemon.
"Arceus…thank you…"
Arceus nodded, before disappearing.
After a good night's rest at Jubilife Village, Kamado having rescinded Dawn's banishment, the heroes from the future were ready to return home. Adaman, Irida, Kamado, Laventon, and Rei were there to see them off.
"Thanks so much for all of your help," said Irida. "Are you sure you want to leave your Pokemon here, Ash?"
"They don't belong in the future," Ash said. "I had to beg Arceus to let the others keep the Pokemon Laventon gave them. Besides, they could do more to protect Hisui than I could!"
"Not that they need to do much," Adaman observed. "With our clans now at peace, and the rift closed, I doubt there'll be much conflict."
"But if there is," Kamado interjected, "Our combined efforts will be more than enough to stop it!"
"I can't believe my Pokedex will have come so far in the future," Laventon mused. "Now I want to do even more research!"
"And you can count of me to help you do it!" Rei affirmed with a nod. With that, Ash, Dawn, Brock, Chloe, Goh, Lillie, and Zoey all entered the time portal home, knowing they would never forget about their adventure.
Later that night, in the safety of the future, Lillie sat outside gazing up at the stars. Dawn had a very heartwarming reunion with her mother, even more so when she told her about her new relationship, and insisted everyone stay the night. But despite how late it was, Lillie still couldn't sleep, the events at Mount Coronet playing over and over in her mind.
"Lillie? Is everything okay?"
Lillie jumped, surprised to see Ash coming over.
"No…"
"What's wrong?"
"I can't help but think about what happened back there with Dialga and Palkia…How Snowy got regressed to an egg and I could do nothing but watch. She never should've been in a position where that could've happened. I should've used Hakamo-o, but I didn't! I'm a horrible trainer!"
"Don't ever say that!"
"But…"
"Lillie, I get it, and I don't even want to imagine how much pain you felt. You took care of Snowy since she was an egg, of course you don't want to see her hurt. But Snowy knew the risk, and went in anyway. Why? Because she trusts you, and you trust her."
Lillie sighed, and let a few tears fall from her face.
"I know, it's just…I wish I could've done more."
Ash smiled, and wiped the tears from her face.
"You did plenty. You never gave up on getting me to remember, even when I was against you. And it was your plea that got Arceus to come down and stop it. I know it doesn't seem like it, but you were amazing, just like you always were. And I know Snowy feels the same way."
"Pika Pika!"
Lillie smiled, and dried her tears.
"Thanks, Ash. I'm glad I have you in my life."
"Me too, Lillie."
A/N: And, done! I hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it, because it was a blast! I know there's a lot of stuff I skipped over, like Volo and the Nobles, and sure I could've focused more on the Hisuian variants, but for me to do those justice I would need to make an entire story focused on Hisui and its story. And I will someday, but for now I hope this will do.
Don't expect me to do another big rush of chapters, though. The only reason I was able to get these chapters out so fast was because of my familiarity with the game, and most of them being heavily focused on dialogue. From now on, it'll probably be more like one chapter per week at best, maybe two if I get in the zone. I'll see you next time!
