Episode 4 - Dodge Ball Brawl
Authors Notes
Chapter 4! One of my personal favorite episodes from this season with my own twist. Next week's chapter might be releasing a bit earlier, I will be out of town for that weekend so...no laptop to upload from :( On a brighter note, let's respond to the viewers!
Gucci Mane LaFlare : I'm glad you're liking the development of Mike and Zoey! I love this pairing and I want to make it feel as genuine as possible. Ella was the most logical choice to have alongside Lindsay, and I think it'll surprise you on how things turn out with her mixed in. Eva leaving was unfortunate, but it had to be done. You'll have to wait and see what lies in store for her.
Zeke the Prophet : Glad you're liking the series so far! I appreciate the feedback. Eva leaving is sad yeah, but it does make the most sense for sure. Ella and Lindsay will be an interesting alliance choice for Heather, I'm excited to show how it'll pan out. Dawn figuring out Mike has five(yes mal as well) personalities will help him and Zoey bond without forcing the issue. I wanted to also give Mike and Zoey more flavor than their canon selves, so more development is needed. Finally, Justin is very underused, and I wanted to actually give him lines in this version.
Shuffollower : Eva getting dumped early is definitely a shame, but you never know how things will turn out for her in this series. Courtney being on the winning team this time around does make things difficult for her character progressing, but she will get development in the near future. Tyler is a semi hard character to write because one; he's an idiot and clumsy at times, and two; he has his really smart, competent, and athletic moments. It's trying to find that balance to flesh out his personality which has been a bit difficult.
amit : Glad you liked the chapter! How long Geoff will survive is for you to find out :) Don't worry Duncan and Courtney(that's who I think you meant) will get their time together, who knows how it'll turn out though!
romeoaifesili : The challenges will stay canon, how they are won will change. Like you said it's still early, and stuff will start to diverge more later, but I still follow the basic episode flow. Ella was the perfect fit for Heather's alliance, so it's gonna work out well. Eva leaving was inevitable, and dodgeball was so fun to write. The leadership conflict is pretty interesting, only you have pointed that out. Good eye!
Thanks for leaving your thoughts, and now onto the episode!

"Last time on Total Drama Island," Chris begins as his voice can be heard over shots of the campers running in the woods. "Our campers went through some very intense conditioning before being awarded with a massive feast. Sugar and Jasmine are seen gorging out on food, and then shown holding their stomachs in pains afterwards. "But, it was all just preparation for the actual challenge. Staying up for as long as humanly possible." Chris laughs as more footage of the campers trying their best to stay awake is shown on screen. "After eighty hours, Jo took a dive on the can, and Dawn was given eternal glory as the winner of the awake-a-thon." Dawn was shown stretching as Chris held her hand up in victory. "And once again, the Killer Bass sent someone home. I dint blame them, she had issues." Chris voices over as Eva is shown throwing everyones belongings at Heather. The shot now flashes to the campfire pit, where Chris is standing. "Are the Screaming Gophers going to win three challenges in a row? Or will they crumble under the pressure? Find out right now on Total, Drama, Island!"

The episode fades into a shot of the main lodge, and zooming in we see both teams sitting at their respective tables. The Screaming Gophers sat on the left table, happily eating and talking amongst themselves. As the camera pans to the right, we see the Killer Bass team sitting at the other table. Unlike the Gophers, they all looked exhausted, grumpy, or still sleeping.
"Jo!" The camera zooms in as the host calls out to the baggy eyed jockette. Jo turns and gives the host a deep frown as Chris walks towards the Bass' table. "You look like crap girl."
"Oh shut it." Jo snips to the smiling Chris and puts her head back down on the table.
"Brick's darn alarm clock broke and went off all night. We barely got any beauty sleep." Sugar grumbled. "Wooooww," Chris laughed with his hand behind his head, "four nights with no sleep? How much are you hurting?"
"Wanna find out McLean?" Jo snarled at the host, causing everyone else to duck under the table in fright. "No, no it's cool. It's cool." Chris said, raising his hands up defensively. A door can be heard opening up, and everyone turns to see Brick standing in the doorway. The camera pans up to show a monocle and a mustache had been drawn on the cadet with permanent marker. A military tune is heard playing as Brick slowly walks over to his team thinking everyone was watching him in awe. A record scratch is heard, and the Gophers are shown actually laughing at the teen as he walks by.
Brick sits down at the end of the table, and his teammates burst out laughing. "Hey what's so funny? Is my fly down again?'' Brick asks with a questioning look. "Someone messed with your face dude." DJ told him while still chuckling. Brick frowned and picked up a spoon to see what had happened. The camera zooms in on the spoon and in the reflection Brick sees the drawings on his face. "Looking good!" Brick exclaims looking rather impressed with the mustache and monocle.
"Hey everybody, Dawn has arrived!" Chris says as the camera cuts back to the door and Dawn walks in with a smile on her face as her team cheers loudly for her.
"It's wonderful to see all of you well rested." Dawn tells her team as she sits down. "Aren't you tired at all?" Jasmine asks the seemingly wide awake girl. "Oh yes!" Dawn nods. "I'm quite used to staying up for days at a time, to listen to what mother Earth has to say." she finishes with a smile. "Alright then!" Jasmine replies.

"We're really falling behind the other team right now." Brick said, looking a little down. "I feel like I let my team down in the last challenge, and if I wanna be a military leader, failure is not an option anymore." he finishes with a serious look while pointing at the camera.

The camera zooms in on Heather, Lindsay, and Ella, who are all sitting close together. "Ok, let's go over the rules one more time." Heather says to the two girls. "Number one, I am the leader of this alliance, so I get to make the rules." she finishes while pointing back to herself. "Number two?" she holds up two fingers and both girls put a hand to their chin in thought. "Oh! Breaking the rules can mean we get kicked out of the alliance?" Ella says hopefully.
"Good!" Heather finishes with a smirk. "Rule number three, if I need to borrow something of yours, I can." she starts off, "But if you need something from me, I'll need something in return." Heather says with a grin. "Ummm, I'm not sure about that last one...it seems kind of rude." Lindsay tells the queen bee.
"That's ok girls, I can change it later if you want. But for now, unless you want to be kicked out, that's how it's gonna be. Got it?" Heather says while plastering a cheerful smile on her face. Both girls look at each other and frown before nodding. "Good. Wanna have some fun?" Heather questions the girls as they nod again.
"Hey cod heads!" Heather yells as the camera pans over to show the Killer Bass. "Way to kick out one of your strongest players. If you keep this up, you might as well just give up and leave this competition." she says with her hands on her hips.
"Don't insult my teammates like that!" Brick stands up abruptly and starts to walk towards Heather. Before he could reach her, Chris enters the lodge.
"Alright campers, listen up. Your next challenge begins in ten minutes." he says while facing them. "And be prepared to bring it." the host finishes while half-raising a fist.
The shot flashes to the beach where a wooden court had been set up. The court is surrounded by plexi-glass held up by wooden beams that plant themselves in the sand. A referee seat and two benches can be seen in the court, with the teams banners hung over each bench.
All the campers are shown standing inside the structure, with Jo entering last and falling onto the Bass' bench. "If you wanna win this challenge," Jo tells her onlooking teammates, "let me rest. If you wake me up while we're ahead, you're dead." she finishes while pointing a finger at them. A whistle is heard and all the campers go silent as Chef walks by in a referee's outfit carrying a whistle. He scowls at the teens as he walks past the line of campers to stand by the waiting host.
"Today's challenge" Chris says as he holds up a red rubber ball, "is the classic game of dodgeball. The first rule of dodgeball is.."
"Don't lose?" Dave pipes up from behind his teammates. Chris holds in some laughter before continuing. "As I was saying, if you get hit with the ball, you're out." Chris throws the ball and the shot shows Sugar getting hit in the gut and groaning. "Hey what's the big idea?" Sugar glares and throws the ball back at the host.
"If you catch the ball," he continues as he catches Sugar's ball, "the thrower is out and the catcher gets to bring in another team member out on the court."
"Uhh Chris," Justin says as he emerges from the bunch of teens, "there won't be a lot of...bruising will there?" he finishes with a worried look.

"I'm a smoking hot super model." the handsome boy says to the confessional. "I have exquisite abs, pecs, shoulders, chin, cheeks, eyes, feet, hand, hair, and a beautiful smile." he finishes while pointing to all his features and smiling. "I can't risk any injury to any part of my body."

"Don't worry Justin, there is a way you can protect all that model material from being hit." Chris says as he throws the ball to Duncan. "Duncan, try to hit me." the host says, throwing the delinquent a ball while picking up another ball. "If you're holding a ball, you can use it to deflect a ball." Chris lets his ball drop to the ground before continuing. "But, if the ball is knocked out of your hands, you're out." he finishes pointing dramatically at the teens.
"So what do I do when the ball comes at me again?" Lindsay asks as Duncan throws the ball at Chris. "You dodge!" he shouts as he deflects the ball with his own, smacking Lindsay in the face and dropping her to the ground. "You were supposed to dodge." Chris winces. The blonde groans and stands back up, with a welt on her forehead.
"You have one minute until game time. Gophers, you'll have to sit one person out each game." Chris finishes before the camera flashes to show the Gophers grouped together.
"Ok guys, we have to be careful." Heather says to her teammates. "The killer Bass are going to be really trying hard to catch up. So who wants to sit out with Dawn?" She finishes as the camera zooms out to show dawn sitting down for the first round. Lindsay raises her hand and goes to sit on the top of the bench while the others stand on the court or the bottom of the benches.
The camera cuts to show both teams on the hardwood. On the court for the Bass was Brick, Zoey, Mike, Amy, and Ezekiel. The Gophers had Geoff, B, Heather, Courtney, and Tyler out on the court to start the first match.
"Better hope you start winning fishes." Heather taunts the Bass, "otherwise you'll be down three players in a row."
"Oh you're going down!" Brick retaliates. "We're gonna…uhh...bring the pain, and then we're gonna...uhh...g-give it to you..by throwing rubber!" he awkwardly finishes. Mike and Amy facepalm at the lameness of the comeback.
"Both teams ready? Best of five games wins." Chris voices over as the camera switches between the two teams. "Now..let's dodge some ball!" the host finishes enthusiastically while swinging his arm forward. Chef, sitting in his referee chair, blows his whistle and the first game begins.
Both teams are shown to have grabbed some dodgeballs and are giving the other wary looks. Ezekiel was the first to throw, and he threw straight at Geoff's head. Geoff dodges to the left and narrows his eyes.
Ezekiel gulps and tries to run from Geoff, but the party boy's ball has already left his hands. Just as Ezekiel turns to look where the ball was, it hits him square in the stomach and he flies towards the wall.
Chef blows his whistle and two scores of five are shown next to each logo. The Bass logo drops to four after a ding is heard. The Gophers cheer their team on as Chef blows his whistle again, resuming the match. "Don't worry guys, if the Army taught me one thing," Brick says while smiling confidently, "is that if you take out the brains, the rest of the group falls!" Brick throws his ball straight for B, who holds up his ball to deflect it and gives Brick a confident smirk.
"Uh oh." Brick says as his eyes go wide. He can only scream and run as B throws the ball, and arcs it just right to where the cadet was headed. It hits him square in the back. Chef blows his whistle once again, signaling another ding. The Bass score drops to three.
While the Gophers had gathered up to give B a high five, Amy took the chance to throw her ball right at Geoff. It hit him right in the kiwis, and a single tear rolled down his face as he sank to the floor. Chef blows his whistle and points behind him with his thumb, and a ding can be heard as the Gophers number sinks to four. Amy smirks confidently and her teammates cheer as they finally get someone out. "Hey, that wasn't fair!" Courtney complains to Chef. "We weren't ready yet!" Chef just shrugs and blows his whistle again.
Amy throws again, this time aiming for Courtney. She realizes she doesn't have a dodgeball to defend herself and braces herself. A loud pop is heard, and startled, she opens her eyes. Tyler is seen holding a now deflated dodgeball, with a sheepish grin on his face.

"I don't really have much coordination." Tyler told the confessional with a smile. "But the tradeoff was extremely strong fingers!" he shows his fingers and flexes them with pride. "I once signed up for piano lessons, but during my first lesson, I broke the piano. It was sports for me after that!"

"Remind me to stay on Tyler's good side." Courtney shivers.

Another ding is heard and the Bass' score drops down to two members. The campers take a moment to recuperate after the insane show of strength by Tyler. Chef points to Lindsay to come into the game. She walks out to join the others, but as B dodges a throw from Zoey, Lindsay is pelted in the face.
"Sorry Lindsay!" Zoey says as she looks on, embarrassed. "It's ok. My face is still here!" Lindsay groans as she's helped up by B. Chef once again blows his whistle, and the Gophers number drops to two as another ding is heard.
The scene flashes to a zoomed out view of the court, logos flashing overhead. Only two members remain for both teams. Mike and Zoey for the Bass, and B and Heather for the Gophers. Chef starts the match, and Mike and Zoey both throw simultaneously. Heather manages to block one, but the second ball hits her square in the leg, and Chef calls her out.
B gives a nervous look to Mike and Zoey, who give him taunting and confident smirk. "We got this guys!" MIke calls to his team before returning his attention back to B. B puts a hand on his soul patch, and then gets an idea.
B grabs a ball, and puts his thumb out in front of him as if he were measuring something. He then tosses his ball in the general direction of Mike and Zoey. They easily dodge and wind up their arms, ready to tag the larger teen out. But just as they throw, a second ball from B comes, ricochets off the wall, and hits the other ball perfectly. The now deflected ball sails into Mike and bounces off him directly into Zoey, and Chef signals them out with wide eyes.
"That is one tough ball to dodge!" Chris exclaims while pointing his thumb towards the now defeated Bass team. B returns to his team with a big grin on his face, and the Gophers give him high fives for securing the win.
The shot flashes showing the Bass huddling up this time. "Ok guys, we can do this." Zoey says to her team. "We just need to take out B first and then we should be able to win this!" She cheers. The rest of the Bass nod in agreement, but Dave still has a hesitant look.
"I don't know if I should play. I'm not the most...athletic type." Dave tells the group. Amy rolls her eyes at the boy's statement, but then smiles as she grabs the germaphobe. "I think I have a plan for you." the evil twin grins widely while Dave has a look of fear on his face.
The camera pans back to the Gophers team standing by their bench. "Ok Justin, it's your turn to go out onto the court, for once." Heather says with a bit of force in her voice. "I'd love to," Justin says while giving Heather a twinkling smile, "but I can't risk damaging the beautiful face." he gives Heather a wink.

"Justin is a hunk," Jasmine confesses with a dreamy look in her eye, "but Heather is right. He's got to actually start contributing to the team." she finishes with a hardened look.

The camera cuts once again to show the teams. Lining up for the Bass were Dave, Mike, Sugar, Amy, and DJ, the Gophers sent out Dawn, Tyler, Jasmine, B, and very scared looking Justin.
"Alright, remember the plan everyone." Mike tells his team. "B is our first target this round." Amy looks at Dave who nervously gives her a smile back. "You sure this'll work?" Dave whispers to the mean twin. "Totally, I make my sister do this, and it always works." she finishes with a smirk."
Chef blows his whistle and the second game starts. The Bass immediately pick up their balls and aim right for B, who notices all eyes trained on him just a bit too late. B is assaulted with multiple dodgeballs, and his team watches in shock as he hits the ground, Chef signaling him out moments later. The Gophers score drops to four and the Bass cheer seeing their plan work.
"You're not out of the woods yet mates!" Jasmine says as she throws her dodgeball right at Sugar, who blocks the incoming fastball. "Oh no you don't missy!" Sugar snarls and throws her ball with surprising speed, hitting Jasmine square in the gut. The tall Australian grimaces in pain, but somehow manages to hold onto the ball. A ding is heard and the Bass score drops down as well. Sugar snaps her fingers and walks off the court, and Tyler is brought on.
The Gophers, now feeling more confident with things evened up, start a shooting match with the Bass. Dodgeballs fly back and forth, and the Gophers start to gain an edge when Mike gets bashed in the head with a dodgeball thrown by Tyler. "Wow, I actually hit someone!" The jock pumps his fist excitedly.
"What do you mean finally?" a skeptical Jasmine asks the boy. Tylers only reply was a sheepish shrug and a laugh. The Bass look at each other with nervous looks, but Amy looks at Dave and he sighs. "I hate this plan."
The camera cuts to the center of the court where Dave moves towards,, and a groovy beat begins as Dave starts to freestyle dance in front of the Gophers. He swerves his head from left to right, and starts to do a multitude of moves from the Charleston, to the Disco groove, and he even pulls out the moonwalk.
Everyone stares at the boy in complete and utter disbelief, seeing the boy dance in the middle of the game. "What's going on?" Justin asks with a bewildered look on his face. "There's gotta be a reason for this-this dancing!" Tyler says not being able to look away.
"Perfect." Amy smiles while grabbing two dodgeballs ready to throw.
"Wait, you knew this was gonna happen?" DJ asks, looking very confused as well. "Well duh," Amy says rudely, "I do this all the time with my sister Samey. She acts as a distraction, and as she gets pelted with balls, the rest of us all have free balls to throw back." she grins widely.
"That's cold girl. Real cold." the brickhouse says picking up a ball. As Dave continues to dance, Dawn is the first one to actually speak up. "Friends! This is simply a distraction, we need to target DJ and-" she is interrupted when a beautiful hand reaches over and pulls the girl away.
"I'll stop him, don't worry guys!" Justin yells, finally managing to get out of his stupor. With a large frown on his face, he grabs nearly every ball and throws them all right at Dave. One by one, the balls hit Dave who gets hit in the face, gut, and nuts consecutively. Dave groans as he falls over and the score drops to two.
The camera cuts to Chris who grimaces after watching Dave get hit. "Owwwww , that one's worth an instant replay." he says as the camera goes back to Dave's bombardment. A rewind sound can be heard as Chris directs the replay. "Forward, ok rewind, forward, rewind," the host rambles on as he starts to laugh at the pained look Dave is giving as he's hit in the gut. "And pause!" Chris says as the replay stops. "That's gonna leave a mark." he finishes.
The gophers cheer but don't notice DJ and Amy already throwing their balls their way, and Jasmine and Dawn notice too late as they are both hit by incoming dodgeballs. The Gophers bench gasped as their advantage had completely disappeared. Chef blows his whistle and a ding is heard as their score drops to two.
Justin gets a fearful look on his face and he runs behind Tyler. "No, not the face!" he says cowering behind the jock. "Anywhere but the face!" DJ launches another strike, and Tyler moves to deflect it. He blocks the throw but gets hit backwards, right into Justin. They both fall over and Amy throws two balls at once, hitting both of them, and Chef blows his whistle, ending the game. The Bass cheer as Amy and DJ come back to their team, knowing they're back in the game.
"It's one all in this heated game of dodgeball." Chris says as the camera pans to the middle of the court where he stands. "Will the Gophers retake the lead? And will Dave do more cheesy dance moves? Find out when we come back." the host finishes and points to the camera.

The camera fades back in, showing both teams huddled up once more. "Ok, I have no idea what that scrawny kid did, but it somehow worked." Jasmine said to her team as the camera cuts to the Gophers huddle.
"Yeah, no thanks to pretty boy over here." Heather glared at the boy in question, who looked surprised. "What? I hate bad dancers, it gives me wrinkles." he said, leaning back.

"It gives him wrinkles?!" Heather throws her hands up in frustration. "What a lame excuse for just not thinking clearly."

"Whatever." Heather rolled her eyes at Justin's excuse. "We need an actual strategy people, I don't see Ms. CIT helping with that."
Courtney gasped at Heather's accusation. "Hey, I'm doing all I can to help you guys!" she says putting her arms out in pleading. "It's not my fault you all can't lead a team." She huffs.
"Are we gonna have a problem here?" Jasmine glowered at the A-type girl, as she backed up nervously. "Because I, for one, would love to win this game, and I think I might know someone who can do that." she smiles and points at Duncan.
"What, you want me to help you guys?" the delinquent laughs. "Why should I?" Jasmine grabs his shirt and lifts him up. "Because I asked you to." she says with a frown. She drops the boy and he brushes his shirt off as he gets up. "Alright fine, I don't need the amazonian breathing down my neck." he grumbles. "Ok, here's a strategy I learned in juvie. It's called, rush the new guy." he says slamming one fist into the other.
The camera flashes once more and the same teams are shown to be on the court, Duncan in place of B. Logos flashing overhead, Chef blows his whistle and game three begins. The Bass quickly pick up the dodgeballs, and throw them at the Gophers. Duncan and the rest dodge easily, and grab the extra balls. Amy looks at Dave and he goes to start dancing again. However, before he can make it to the middle of the floor, Duncan points at the teen, and they fire simultaneously. A wide-eyed Dave tries to get out of the way, but is hit by several dodge balls once more, and the Gophers cheer.
Now down their distraction, Amy snarls and throws the ball she picked up. Jasmine easily avoids it, and collects it. Jasmine and Duncan share a smile as they both throw right at DJ, who gets taken out as well. The Bass on the bench watch in awe as one by one, their team is taken out by this new strategy. Amy, being the only one left, huffs in frustration. "This is ridiculous. I always have to do everything myself! You guys are useless!"
With an angry look on her face, she gets ready to throw, but all she can do is hold her dodgeball in front of her as another round of dodgeballs are thrown at her. Amy is taken out by Duncan's seemingly invincible strategy, and Chef ends the game, so the Gophers cheer loudly as Duncan gives a soft smile to his team, and they gather around him in celebration.
The shot flashes to Mike sitting on the Bass bench, deep in thought. "Guys, we're not gonna win this unless we can counter that strategy of theirs. Anyone have any more ideas?" He looks around at his team.
Brick looks nervous but pipes up. "I think we should wake up Jo. She's tough and ruthless, but that's what we need." The rest of the team gasps after hearing the cadets idea. "Are you crazy? She'll eat us alive." DJ says rather frightened.
"Brick's right. We don't have much of a choice." Zoey says. "If we lose this next game it's all over!"
"Ok, wake her up then." Amy says finally joining the conversation. "And we should make Brick do it." she says pointing at the teen. "W-what?" he asks, bewildered. "Why do I have to do it?"
"Because you're the only one who could survive waking up Jo." she snarls and shoves the boy toward the sleeping jockette. A sweating Brick slowly goes to tap Jo, as the camera zooms in on his nervous face. As soon as Brick's finger pokes Jo in the shoulder, her hand wraps around his finger as she slowly sits up.
"You better have a good reason for waking me up unibrow." she growls and tightens her grip around Brick's finger. A crunching sound is heard, and he yelps in pain. "We're one game away from losing, and we need your help to counter Duncan's strategy."
"Well why didn't you say so! Do I have to help all of you losers with this simple game?" Jo says and throws her hands up in the air. "Ok, Let me see what kind of strategy we're dealing with first."
The shot flashes and both teams are out on the court. Chef starts the fourth game, and the Bass throw their balls towards the opposing team. They easily dodge, and once again all target DJ. The Bass score drops to four and Jo calls a timeout.
"Ok I think I understand what's going on. I've dealt with this a ton before. The counter strategy is called, air raid." She says while huddling in closer to tell her teammates the plan.
Chef blows his whistle and the game resumes. The Bass continue to miss and Gophers stockpile more balls. They target Zoey next, but instead of hitting the indie chick, Mike and Ezekiel rush in front of her, and deflect the incoming projectiles with their own dodgeballs.
"Fire!" Jo says, standing up in her seat and cupping her hands around her mouth. Mike and Ezekiel launch their balls high into the air, and not with a ton of force. Jasmine and Ella move to dodge the high arcing balls, but are shocked when two more balls rapidly appear from out of nowhere, heading straight for them.
Both are hit right in the face, and Chef calls them out. The Gophers score drops to three and the Bass cheer as Jo gives them a smirk from the bench. "What just happened?" Duncan asks, shocked his strategy was picked apart so quickly. "Serves you right, Dud-can!" Jo yells towards the delinquent.
DJ and Mike launch two more balls into the air, but B and Lindsay are more wary of the now incoming secondary balls. They dodge the balls, but fail to remember the high arcing balls, as both get hit right after dodging the other balls.
The Bass had just whittled down the Gophers to make it five against one. Heather, giving her team a nervous look, throws her ball at Ezekiel, but Zoey steps in the way and blocks it, and retaliates. The ball comes flying at Heather with surprising force, and slams into her face, knocking her down. The gophers score drops to zero, and Chef signals the end of the game. The Gophers are stunned. Their one game lead was gone, and it was the final game.
The camera flashes to the Bass standing in a huddle."Let's do that same thang again!" Sugar exclaimed excitedly. "Alright, who's all going in?" Jo asks her team in their huddle.
"I think you should go in for Ezekiel." Sugar says to the jockette. "Hey, why me?" the prairie boy asks, pointing at himself. "Because I wanna win somethin, and having you sit is the best choice!" Sugar yells, her eyes narrowing.
The camera cuts to the Gophers who look very nervous. "What do we do about what just happened Duncan?" Ella asked, looking around at the rest of her teammates. "Maybe we should target the blockers." Courtney says with a confident smile. "Then they'll be down enough people so they can't use that strategy!"
"Not a bad plan!" Jasmine says, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Let's go kick some butt!" she shouts.
The camera cuts to Chris standing between both teams. "Gophers, Bass, let's send this sample to the lab, and see what you're made of!" the host finishes and pumps his hand up. Chef raises his hand, and brings it back down while blowing his whistle, and the fifth and final game commences.
Just like before, Mike and DJ launch their balls high into the air. This time however, after moving out of the way of the high flying balls, they also make sure to dodge the ones that Sugar and Zoey threw from behind them. After regrouping, Duncan, Jasmine throw towards Mike. Zoey steps in front to block, but a third ball thrown from Tyler hits her in the leg.
Their score drops to four but Jo gets a determined look on her face. "Come on guys, get your head in the game!" Jo throws a ball straight at Heather who wasn't expecting a regular throw, and gets hit. Chef calls her out and the scores are even once more. The teams go back and forth, trading outs and catches, until there are only two people left for the Bass, and four for the Gophers.
Jo and Mike look at each other with determination and throw their balls straight at B who had just come in. They hit their mark, and B frowns before walking back off to the bench.
Duncan, Jasmine and Justin are left for the Gophers, who have large grins on their faces. They know that if they can get Jo out, their chances of winning skyrocket. They fire their dodgeballs at the jockette, who is able to block two and dodge the last throw.
"Nice try losers, but I'm here to win this challenge. Eat this!" Jo releases an absolute cannon of a throw, and Jasmine gasps seeing the speeding ball close in on her. The ball hits Jasmine and she slides so far, she hits the plexiglass wall before sliding to the ground. "Yes! Direct hit!" Jo cheers, but then gasps as Jasmine stands up, holding the ball in her hands. "I've had to wrangle large rams in the outback, I'm used to getting hit that hard in the gut." she smirks.
The bass look on in defeat as Mike stands alone against the three Gophers, his odds not looking good. "It's all up to you toothless!" Jo calls from the bench. "You have to dodge like an acrobat!"
"Uh-oh." Mike says as he gasps and leans over to catch his breath. When he stands back up, lipstick is seen on his lips, and his eyelashes were a lot longer than normal. "Did someone say acrobatics? Behold, Svetlana is here to show you how it is done!" he finishes and pirouettes on his toes. "What the- what's wrong with him?" Jo asks. "Hey, watch out!" she yells at the teen.
"Watch out for what?" Svetlana says, and turns around to see three dodgeballs coming straight at her. Instead of panicking, she effortlessly flips and contorts her body, avoiding every ball thrown, and lands in a dramatic pose. The Gophers bench looks at the new form of Mike, mouths gaping. "Whoa." Heather comments.
"Alright Mike!" Zoey cheers. "Now catch one next time so Jo can come back in!" Svetlana nods in understanding and taunts the Bass team, telling them to bring it. Duncan narrows his eyes and throws his ball at Svetlana. The "olympian" easily dodges by doing the splits, and then catches the rapidly approaching ball thrown by Jasmine.
"Yes! I'm back in!" Jo says as she rushes to the court. "Alright princess," Jo says as she approaches Svetlana, "you dodge and catch, and I'll do all the throwing." She gives her a cocky smile to which she returns. Again, Duncan and Justin throw at Svetlana and Jo, but she flips over, easily avoiding the ball, and Jo blocks the incoming projectile. Jo rears back and throws another heatball, and hits Duncan square in the face. Chef blows his whistle, and the Gophers are down to Justin. Suddenly Mike gasps again and gives Jo a very confused look. "Hey weren't you just out?" he asks the jockette.
"You got me back in. Don't you remember?" Jo skeptically asks the boy. "Right! Right...how could I forget." Mike frowns and looks down.
"Mike, pay attention!" Zoey calls from the stands. Mike looks back at Justin who is holding two dodgeballs and has taken a defensive stance. "D-don't do anything rash! You wouldn't want to hurt this beautiful face now would you!" he asks, hopeful they'd fall for his beauty and forfeit.
Jo smirks before tossing her ball up and down in her hand. "You're right, I wouldn't wanna hurt that face of yours." Justin breathes a sigh of relief. "But that gut is looking pretty open right now!" Jo grins widely and winds up her throw and prepares to win the game.
Justin looks on in absolute fear, knowing what happened to Jasmine just recently.
He drops to his knees, drops the balls, and buries his face in his hands. "I surrender!" he cries. "Please just not the face, or gut, or anywhere!"
His teammates gasp, and all give him a glare. "Dude, come on! Don't give them the game!" Duncan yells to the model. Chris sighs and frowns. "Wow, that's just sad. Jo, please knock him out for me." the host says to the jockette. Jo grins widely and throws her ball, right at Justins face. "Ahhhhhhhhh!" Justin screams as the rubber ball makes contact with his face, knocking a single tooth out, and leaving the beautiful boy with a black eye.
"Now that's more like it!" Chris says with a grin. "The Killer Bass win!" he cheers as Chef ends the game, and the Bass team cheers loudly. They pick up Mike and Jo, and carry them away as heroes. "Nice throw Jo!" Brick says as they exit the court.
The camera zooms out to show Chris walking towards the Gophers bench. "Gophers, what happened?" the host asks the now somber looking group. "Someone was too busy caring how he looks more than his own team." Heather snarls as a depressed and ashamed Justin rejoins his team. "Who cares, I have nothing! Nothing without my beauty!" Justin shakes his fist in the air before sitting down. "You're so done for." Courtney says as his teammates pass by one by one on their way out.

"I don't know what happened with the string bean back there, but all I know is that if I say something about acrobatics, that Svetlana appears." Jo confesses with a smirk. "I'm gonna use that to my advantage soon."

The camera flashes to a zoomed out view of the island at night, and the campfire pit can be seen glowing orange in the distance. The camera zooms in on the fire before cutting to a shot of Chris holding a plate of marshmallows. "Campers, you've already placed your votes and made your decision." The camera pans over the teens as Chris continues. "One of you will be going home. And you can't come back...ever."
"When you hear me call out your name, come get a marshmallow." Chris says motioning towards the platter. "Heather, Duncan, and Jasmine, you're all safe." all three teens cheer and go grab their marshmallow before sitting back down. "Tyler." Tyler gives Geoff a high five before coming to grab his marshmallow. "Courtney and Geoff." Geoff pumps his fist as he goes up to get his treat. "B. Dawn." They both walk up and go grab their marshmallows. "Ella, come up." Ella wipes sweat off her brow, gives Lindsay a hopeful look, and walks up towards the host. Chris watches as Ella walks past him, and turns back towards the last two campers. "The final marshmallow goes to…" the camera pans back and forth between a nervous Lindsay, and a bruised and beat up Justin. Dramatic music starts to rise in the background, and crescendos. "Lindsay." Justin sits up quickly, shocked. "Fine, I see how it is. This show just got 110% less attractive! I hope you all know that!" the model yells back to his team as he starts to walk down the dock of shame, and hides his bruised eye and missing tooth from the camera.

"Alright, so that wasn't the most dramatic campfire ceremony ever." Chris says, as the camera zooms in on the host. "But I still get paid. Bonus!" the host says while pointing at the camera. "Who will survive? Who will not? And will the Killer Bass actually win another challenge? Find out next week on Total, Drama, Island!"

I found this chapter easy, yet hard to write at the same time. Because dodgeball is a very repetitive game, it can be hard to want to describe the same thing over and over. On the other hand, it's easy to imagine and picture, so I hope this chapter wasn't too repetitive.
So, Justin is gone. It felt right, seeing as he's always worried about his appearance and dodgeball is something that would definitely ruin his standard of beauty. Him leaving is the best choice, and I hope why he was voted off was convincing enough for you guys.
Amy bullying Dave into being basically a sacrifice seems fitting, and honestly I love the idea of Dave having some killer dance moves. How their relationship dynamic changes will be interesting to write.
Mike having Svetlana appear also felt fitting, because Svetlana would have the perfect chance to show off her incredible flexibility, and now Jo knows how to trigger her appearance. It's gonna be fun to write how she'll use that knowledge.
Also last thing, the air raid is basically throwing a decoy ball in the air, and having others throw other balls at the distracted person. This makes them choose, and a lot of times people take too long to decide from personal experience. I hope that makes a bit more sense.
I hope you guys liked this chapter. Tell me your thoughts, criticisms, what you liked, and predictions. Until next time,
