Hey guys, Andrew78591, here with part one of the finale. Man, I didn't think I get to this point but we're near the end of this. But here we are, we reach the conclusion of this story. Granted, this will be a parter due to how longer this will be, but we'll get. Glad to see all of you have stuck with me up until now. So I hope I deliver with a satisfying ending here.
Before we start, let's go through some questions and suggestion first.
Questions
Didn't Syura use his teigu in canon to teleport lubbock into space or something? Can't they use that to teleport doomsday into space where he'll be on a path to fly right into the fucking sun?
Interesting idea but that will not work for many reasons. In the anime, where the dimension thing happened, where Lubbock was send in, it was never stated to be outer space. Just a dimension for Shambhala. If it was outer space, Lubbock and Syura would be gasping for air. Also, the teigu requires the user to place markers in different locations to allow teleportation. Like say you place a marker at a store. Now you can teleport there anytime you like. So sending Doomsday to sun is a no go, especially seeing as Syrua is dead and Doomsday can very well survive being dipped in the sun seeing as the monster has survived worse.
Suggestions
Naruto x akame ga kill zero. Naruto in akame ga zero with elith seven The main pairing naruto x akame
Absolutely not. I made it clear that, unless it's for a vs battle, I will not write a Naruto and Harry Potter fanfic. Though I do plan on writing a fic revolving around Akame Ga Kill Zero.
What about the Batman who laughs?
No, never really got into that character.
My Hero Academia and Young Justice crossover.
All Might is the member of the Justice League
Deku has become member of the Team.
This doesn't interest me so no.
You know I'm kinda interested in seeing a crossover between Akame Ga Kill and the SCP Foundation it would interesting to say the least with how powerful and advanced the SCP Foundation is and the dangerous monsters they contain. Imagine if some of them escaped into the Akame Ga Kill world like SCP-106, 076, 049, and est. Seeing the Groups of Interests like the Chaos Insurgency or the Church of the Broken god and children of the Scarlet King beginning to expand their power into the Akame Ga Kill world would be interesting too.
Okay, I need to address this as I've been getting a lot of these requests lately. So... I don't want to do an Akame Ga Kill and SCP Foundation fanfic. I really don't have any ideas for it, I have other Akame Ga Kill fanfics and ideas as is so I don't want to over do it with this series, and I can't see how this will work out.
However, I will be doing an SCP Foundation fanfic. I have another series in mind that I know I can make work. And even have plans on how it will be written and done. So look for to that as it will be in a unique format.
Anyway, with all that said and done, let's start part one of the finale of Empire's Doomsday.
Aaaaaaaannnnnnnd begin:
"Tatsumi," Chelsea spoke out clearly, getting the boy's attention as he slowly looked at her. "Remember when I said I had something to tell you? I might as well say it now."
"Out of all the events I've experienced in life, being around you was the absolute best thing for me," Chelsea said, looking at Tatsumi with a warm smile as tears fell out of her eyes. "It's no wonder... why I fell in love with you."
Hearing that brought Tatsumi into tears. To think Chelsea would confess her love to him. He felt really happy about it, overjoyed even. But it was replaced by sadness and regret as he knew that they wouldn't have a chance to show that love to each other. He and Chelsea were going to die.
With her confession told, Chelsea looked at Doomsday as the creature was now in front of her. As the Ultimate position its bone claws towards her heart, Chelsea simply closed her eyes, waiting for the inevitable. And in a quick session, Doomsday moves its bone blades at its target to deliver the killing blow.
But then, out of nowhere, a red beam appeared and struck directly as Doomsday. Sending the creature flying and crashing into a building, crumbling upon the monster.
Chelsea and Tatsumi opened their eyes in shock by this sudden event. They were questioning what just happened and who was responsible. Though they no longer had to ponder as the mysterious figure appeared in front of them.
(Superman Theme)
Standing between them was a tall muscular man that had black hair with a hair curl. His wardrobe was also very strange as he wore a blue suit with red boots, underwear, and a cape, along with a yellow belt. However, the most noticeable feature of him was a yellow and red diamond shaped symbol on his chest. Forming the large letter S. Tatsumi and Chelsea didn't know who this man was, but the look he had was very fierce yet tamed as he was glowing with the sun. He actually looked heroic.
But then, the debris was pushed away, revealing Doomsday as the creature roared with absolute rage. The monster looked at the stranger with familiarity before charging towards him for the kill. But the caped man flew at him, moving at speeds faster than a speeding bullet, appearing in front of the Ultimate. Then proceed to punch the monster in the stomach with enough force to send it flying into the sky in a matter of seconds. The stranger then flew into the sky to punch Doomsday once more, pushing the beast above the clouds. Despite the sudden attack, the Walking War Machine retaliated back unleashing a sea of fire at the caped man. But the man countered that by taking a deep breath and blowing a massive gust of wind that blew the fire away from him. Then the caped man attacked once more as his eyes glowed red and fired his heat vision. The beam hit Doomsday, launching it back a great distance before falling into unknown territory outside of the Capital.
Tatsumi and Chelsea looked with absolute utter shock. It was jarring for them to see Doomsday, a creature that they couldn't move without catching it off guard, let alone scratch it, was launched away from the city with ease by this stranger. A caped man that had powers of his own. Whether be from a teigu or not, this man was certainly powerful.
Their train of thought was interrupted as the caped man appeared to them, specifically Tatsumi. He looked at Tatsumi's wound, where his left arm used to be, as it was bleeding. Using his heat vision at a very low and controlled point, the stranger was able to close up the wound. The teen boy was silent, surprised to see this man help him stop the bleeding, even if it did stinged.
"You saved us... why?" he finally uttered, still in a state of shock.
The caped man looked at Tatsumi with a neutral face before giving him a reassuring smile. "Because it's my duty to protect those in need."
"Excuse me?" Chelsea spoke out, getting the caped man's attention. "Not to sound rude, but who are you?"
The stranger looked at Chelsea with a confident smirk before introducing himself. "I'm what you call a superhero. Call me… Superman."
Those words spark awe within the two assassins. They have been in a world filled with monsters and death for so long, that they have never met someone like him. A man that gleamed with honesty, safety, and hope. He truly looked and talked like someone they could trust. He was indeed a superhero.
"I managed to stop your friend's bleeding arm. But he'll need immediate medical attention. Is there a place where we can take him?" Superman asked.
"Oh right, Tatsumi needs help..." Chelsea said as she began to explain. "There's a Safe Zone we made for all the citizens to go to. For them to stay and hide from that monster until this whole thing blew over."
"That's good to hear. Do you know where it is?" he asked.
"I don't exactly know. All I know is that it's in the far east in a canyon. That's it."
Hearing that, Superman looked east as he used his enhanced eyesight and x-ray vision. It only took him a few seconds to find the canyon filled with people. "I found them. They're about a couple miles away from our location. Things seem okay over there."
"Wait what? How did you find them?" the lollipop girl questioned.
"They may be far away, but my enhanced vision is able to track them down," he answered as he pointed to his eyes.
"Now that I know where we need to go, let's get going." Without wasting any time, Superman picked up both Tatsumi and Chelsea before flying through the sky at high speeds towards the Safe Zone. All the while, the two assassins were screaming in fright and joy. They may have flown on top of a giant Air Manta before, but never in their lives did they believe that they would be flown by a man with a cape. In fact, Superman was flying much higher and faster than any Air Manta could ever achieve.
"Holy crap, we're really high up here! Even I couldn't fly this high with Incursio!" Tatsumi shouted in awe and fright.
Superman gave out a chuckle from hearing that. "Don't worry, this will be over soon."
(Music End)
Safe Zone
In the far east, thousands of miles away from the Capital, was the Safe Zone. Hidden within the massive canyon, with the cliffsides surrounding them, the remaining citizens from the Capital gathered together. In their tents or surrounding fireplaces, they were all waiting. Waiting for this nightmare to be over with and go back to their homes. For the meantime, they all did whatever to pass the time. Either eat, sleep, talk, or mourn for the loved ones they lost because of the monster. As they did their thing, the Revolutionary Army and Ex-Imperial Guards were doing their job, to protect the citizens. After the mayhem and end of the government, the remaining soldiers of the Empire agreed to join with the Revolutionary Army for one goal: to kill Doomsday.
So far, things seemed to be quiet and under control. In one of the tents, we see Twiggs as he was talking with other leaders of the Revolutionary Army. To plan their next move in case Najenda's plan backfired. Tyler and Dorothea were currently waiting outside, taking a breather from all the craziness they had to deal with today.
Tyler drank some water from a canister before talking. "Man, today has been an utter craziness."
"I know what you mean. This morning, I was just doing my own thing. Thinking of the next experiment I wanted to do or whatever," Dorothea joked as she was offered some water and accepted the canister. "Hours later, I end up helping my once enemies kill a monster that destroyed other worlds. Life is weird," she finished as she took a sip.
"I can agree to that. Seriously, if anyone told me that I would end up working together with a wanted criminal/alchemist and be assigned to look after her, I call them crazy," he joked, causing the alchemist to chuckle.
"So, what are you going to do?"
"What?" Tyler asked, confused by her question.
"I mean, if they succeed in killing Doomsday and ending it all, what are you going to do? While I'm going to be sent to jail, you'll be able to do what you want and live a life without war. I'm just curious on what you'll do when that happens?" she asked.
The Spectator teigu user was silent, surprised by her question. He was so focused on winning the war, which now changed to killing the monster, Tyler never thought about what to do after that. He chuckled to himself before giving his answer. "To be honest... I don't know. Maybe I'll either go to work with the new government the Revolutionary Army will set up. Or just go back to my home village, get a job there, and live my life peacefully."
"Sounds a little boring if you ask me," Dorothea commented.
"Hey, a peaceful life may sound boring but it has it's benefits," he argued.
"Well, considering I'm going to prison, I guess I'll have to get used to it," she replied.
"I'm sure you'll find something to do in your freetime," Tyler joked.
Dorothea replied with a smirk as she said, "I guess I will."
Suddenly, the two hear a scream. A scream of someone crying for help. As Tyler got up on his feet, he saw a few more soldiers running towards the scene. "Hey, what the hell's going on?!" he questioned one of the soldiers.
"Bandits! They somehow snuck in here and are causing trouble!"
"Bandits? Shit..." Tyler muttered to himself in frustration, clenching his fist. To think they would cause havoc at a time like this. He faced Dorothea and said, "You stay there. I'm going to deal with this." Like that, Tyler ran to where the soldiers went, ready to help out.
At the scene, about ten bandits had multiple hostages as they aimed their guns or weapons at them. A couple of them were making sure the soldiers didn't get close. Things weren't looking good as there were a few dead soldiers at the site. and the hostages were scared for their lives. Even worse was that there were children with them. The other soldiers that were trying their best to get things under control but the bandits weren't making things easy.
"For the love of god, don't do this!"
"Why not? This is what we want!"
Tyler ran into the scene as he talked to one of the soldiers. "What the hell's going on?"
"Bandits. We're assuming they snuck in here by blending with the survivors. They managed to take hold of about seven hostages, two of them being children," the soldier responded.
"Why the hell haven't we done anything to stop them?" Tyler questioned
"We've tried. But they have hidden archers around here. That's how they managed to kill a few of us."
"Shit..." Tyler said to himself in anger before activating his teigu. "I'll try to find them. Then we can take them out."
"Drop your weapons and stop this madness!" one of the soldiers shouted, still trying to dispel the situation.
"Why should we? We're just wanting to have the time of our lives," the bandit said, who seemed to be the leader.
"Why now?! We're dealing with a danger beast that's causing a massive genocide!"
"That's exactly why we're doing this," the bandit leader said casually before explaining. "We already know about the monster destroying the Capital and how Nightraid and you guys aren't able to kill it. Seeing as how we'll going to die by this thing, me and the boys were like, 'fuck it, let's just do what we wanted with no regrets!' Right boys?!"
The other bandits yelled in delight in response. The bandit leader decided to even grab one of the children from the hostages and pull out his sword. "In fact, why don't I start our fun?!" he shouted in excitement.
"Shit, he's gonna do it!"
"We need to stop them now!"
"But how?!"
Tyler was furious by what these bandits were planning to do and what they were going to do to an innocent child. Without thinking, the Spectator user summoned out his arm blades as he was about to kill them and end this needless bloodshed.
But then, something happened that made everyone stop whatever they were doing. They hear the sound of screaming, coming from the top of the cliffs that surrounded them. The screaming got closer and closer until the source appeared. Around the bandits, were their archers, beat up and suspended in the air by some kind of black rope.
"What the...?" the bandit leader questioned in disbelief. But before he could figure out what was going on, a couple of strange black balls rolled underneath the bandits. And like that, they all exploded at once. Creating a massive smokescreen around them. Everyone within the smoke began coughing as the bandits tried to get back on guard and kill who is causing this.
"What the hell is going on?!"
"Where did this come from?!"
"Who was able to take out our archers?!"
"Shut up!" the bandit leader shouted to his minions. "Keep your eyes peeled and find this fucker! Make him regret messing with us!" He looked around as he kept the child in his arms with a meat shield.
The bandits look through the smokescreen to find their culprit and kill them. When one bandit looked to his right, he didn't notice the two hands behind him before they grabbed him and put the bandit in a chokehold. The hands held on tight until the bandit stopped struggling and passed out before disappearing back into the smokescreen. Two bandits looked around to find their target but then the two hands grabbed both their heads and smashed them together, knocking them out.
Two more bandits heard this and went to investigate. When they found the other teammates knockout, they were about to alert the others. However, they were silenced when two projectiles were hit directly at their head, forcing them to the ground. Then quickly, the figure came and knocked them both out with a hard punch to their head. As the figure did that, one bandit spotted him and immediately alerted the others.
"Guys, I found our troublemaker!"
But once he said that, the figure shot a projectile from a strange looking gun that electrocuted him. As the bandit screamed in pain, the figure moved fast and did a solid punch to his cranium, knocking him out, before disappearing into the smokescreen. The remaining bandits ran to the scene but it was too late. They stood there in complete shock to find their other comrades taken out so easily.
"God damn, this bastard took out more than half of us," one bandit uttered in disbelief, starting to feel scared.
"And we're next. What the hell are we supposed to do?" the other bandit whimpered in fear.
"What I order you all to do," the leader gritted in anger, holding the child even tighter in his grip. "To kill this bastard who just got lucky in taking a couple of us out! Now stop being scared little children and find him!"
This managed to calm down his minions a bit, enough that they can properly wield their weapons. But there was still a hint of fear within them.
"Now continue to find the bastard and kill him. And if you find the hostages, kill them. If we're going down, we're taking a few with us."
With their orders, the bandits continued to navigate through the smokescreen. One bandit, with a gun, managed to find the hostages, much to their horror. The bandit grinned and chuckled in delight as he took aim, ready to fire. But he was stopped when a sharp object was thrown at his hand, forcing him to drop his gun. He grabbed his hand, wincing in pain, as he looked at what hit him. To his shock, it was a sharp piece of metal, shaped like a bat. As he tried to process this, the bandit was hit in the back of the head, falling to the ground unconscious.
As that happened, another bandit came in and saw the figure. Pulling out his axe, the bandit was about to deliver a killing blow. But the figure pulled out an object and pressed the button on it, which caused this blue gel underneath the oblivious bandit to explode. Knocking out the bandit as he was sent flying into the air then back down to the ground.
The two remaining circled around each other, starting to feel scared about all of this. Desperately trying to find their culprit and kill him. "Damn it, this isn't good. We lost everyone to this stranger. I don't think we can kill him."
"Shut the fuck up, you freaking out isn't going to help," the leader growled in annoyance, though he was just as scared. "This bastard is getting too overconfident with all this. I should just kill this kid to show him I ain't playing around."
"Boss, I don't think that's a good-" the bandit was interrupted as a strange rope with a claw grabbed him then was pulled into the fog, screaming in fright. The scream was then silenced.
"Shit," the bandit leader uttered in disbelief. At this point, the leader realized that he was all alone. The man gripped the child tighter as he had his sword closer to the kid's neck. "Okay asshole... if you value this kid's life... then you better show yourself!"
The bandit leader walked back a bit, turning at every direction at the slightest sound he heard. Every second he was in the smokescreen, the more afraid he was getting. The leader felt like a child surrounded in the pitch black of darkness with the boogeyman in it. Waiting for the moment to strike. His body and hands were shaking, he was sweating all over, he was breathing heavily, and his eyes showed fear.
"I m-mean it! I'll... I'll kill this kid!" he shouted in anger as he pointed his sword in the air and away from the child. A big mistake to make as a metal bat piece hit his hand, causing him pain while dropping his sword. This also gave the child the opportunity to break free from the bandit's hold and escape. The bandit leader tried to get his meat shield back but the kid had already disappeared within the smokescreen. At this point, the bandit had become even more frightened. With his sword gone, hostage gone, and his hand in pain, he was defenseless. He was now a helpless animal, waiting for his demise against this unknown predator. The bandit leader was now flat out terrified.
"WHERE ARE YOU?!" he screamed in anger and fright.
"Here."
The bandit leader fightenly turned to face the figure behind him. But he was met with a punch to his face, knocking him a good distance away and making him go unconscious.
At this point, the smokescreen began to clear up and everyone was able to see clearly once more. The Revolutionary Army soldiers looked in absolute shock. In just a couple of seconds, all the bandits were taken down and the hostages were freed. Many of them were questioning how this happened. Who was responsible? Their question would be answered when the figure walked out and appeared in front of them.
The figure was a tall, muscular man who wore a grey body suit, which looked more like armor. He had black glove with spikes on his arms, black combat boots, black underwear, a large cape, and a cowl, with two pointed ears, that covered his eyes and head. Making his pupils completely white. Along with a strange looking yellow belt, the most noticeable feature on him is the yellow oval on his chest with a black bat symbol on it.
The soldiers looked at the man with awe but were also wary of him as they kept their guard up. The man's expression grew fear within the soldiers as his face was very expressionless yet there was a hint of predatory authority. Seeing his face was like a knife being held toward them. So close you can feel it, yet so faint, like it isn't there. That at any wrong move, the knife would stab them. With less cutting and more ripping them apart. Jagged and uneven, yet shape as they come.
Few of the soldiers were thinking of attacking him because of that. But then, the stranger moved his cape to reveal the child that was held hostage by the bandit leader. He held onto the man, looking frightened yet safe. Seeing the boy, a woman, the mother, yelled out his name in relief as she ran to him, with the child doing the same. Once they were together, they hugged each other, crying to relief as they're glad to be together again. As the mother and son were having their moment, the stranger walked towards the soldiers, seeming like he wanted to speak to them.
"Who here is in charge?" he said in a cold, serious yet calm tone.
The soldiers were silent from hearing the stranger talk. For some reason, it felt jarring to see someone like him be able to talk, even more so in a calming tone. It wasn't until Tyler built up enough courage to answer the man's question. "Why should we? While you did help us with the bandits, you still seem suspicious. Hell, who are you?"
The figure paid his attention at Tyler as he looked at him directly and answered his question. "I'm someone who's here to help you with your problem. Your Doomsday problem."
Tyler's face changed into shock by what the man had just said. No one but a few people knew about the name of the monster that was Doomsday. He looked like he knew something about the creature. "What? How do you know that?" he uttered in shock.
"Because I've dealt with that thing before. Well, more like my colleague has dealt with it," the stranger responded.
"Colleague? What colleague?" Tyler questioned.
Then all of a sudden, something came out of the sky and landed in front of them, spooking everyone except the caped stranger. Appearing to them was none other than Superman as he was still carrying Tatsumi and Chelsea. Superman let go of Chelsea to let her stand on her own. But still held onto the injured Tatsumi, who was currently sleeping. As Tyler and the soldiers looked at the Man of Steel with awe, Superman looked at the situation of unconscious people laying on the ground.
"Batman, I see you've dealt with the problem here like usual," he said jokingly.
"Save your jokes for later, Superman. We have things to do. Did you deal with Doomsday?" the man known as Batman asked.
"I forced it into a remote area away from the city with no other people near it. Should buy us some time," Superman replied.
"Good, then we can begin," Batman said.
After the aftermath of the bandits, Tyler brought Superman and Batman to meet with Twiggs. Dorothea and Chelsea went with them while Tatsumi was taken to a medical tent to be treated by Dr. Banting. The group meet up in one of the tents as Twiggs describes the situation they're in.
"And that's what happened," Twiggs said, finishing his explanation. "Things aren't looking for us, right now."
"I'll say," Superman replied. "This is to be expected with Doomsday."
"But I don't get it. This doesn't make sense," Dorothea said, feeling confused by all this before turning to Chelsea. "Are you sure that your group used the grenade to kill Doomsday?"
"I'm absolutely positive. I saw my teammate use it and it blew up the monster's head and body. Yet it came back to live," Chelsea replied angrily. "Maybe your weapon wasn't strong enough to kill it."
"Hey, I triple-made sure that the grenade was strong enough to kill it! Using the best chemicals and making the damn thing! I just don't get it. No living being should be able to survive that. Even with regeneration like the biological teigu."
"That's because you assumed that Doomsday was like any other creature that can be killed," Batman interjected, getting the alchemist's attention. "The thing is nothing like that."
"I'm sorry but what do you mean by that?" Dorothea asked.
Batman looked at her with his sharp eyes as he began to explain. "You all already know that Doomsday is a creature that has the ability to adapt to almost anything to better survive any environment or to kill anyone it couldn't before. I don't blame you for assuming that killing the beast would bypass its ability and take it down."
"However, your assumption that it could be killed is what would've led to your downfall," the Dark Knight said bluntly as he continued. "Doomsday's biological format allows it to fully adapt to any death it was dealt with and make it forever insusceptible to it."
Dorothea's eyes widened as she had a look of horrific realization. Making her skin almost lose its color as she felt despair.
"What do you mean by that?" Tyler asked, not fully getting it.
"In layman's terms, if Doomsday dies, then it'll come back to life. Forever immune to whatever killed it in the first place," Superman explained.
Hearing that was enough to spread dread to everyone in the room. Whatever hope they have had was starting to diminish from this realization. All their plans, their attacks, and sacrifices against Doomsday were all for nothing. All they did was waste time and delay the inevitable.
"Jesus Christ, that thing is essentially immortal," Twiggs uttered in shock.
"I knew Bertron made the ultimate being... but I didn't think he created a creature with actual immortality," Dorothea said, her face becoming white by this sudden news.
"Akame, Leone, Lubbock, everyone else in Nightraid..." Chelsea uttered, gritting her teeth as darkness covered her eyes. "Were their deaths all for nothing?"
"Their deaths won't be for nothing. Because we're here to help you all stop Doomsday," Superman intervened.
"Oh really? Then can you kill the thing or even lock him up somewhere so it won't kill anymore people?" Chelsea questioned the Man of Steel, sounding upset.
"No, we can't," the Man of Steel answered, feeling guilty. "That's never worked for us in the past."
"Then what the hell can you two do?!" Chelsea yelled at Superman, looking at him with anger in her eyes, a few tears coming out. "If you couldn't kill that thing, then what hope can there be for us to win? My team died because we thought killing it would end this nightmare. But it was just false hope! What are supposed to do then? What are we supposed to do?"
Chelsea stood there as she tried to best her hold back tears of frustration. She was tired of all this. Tired of the constant failures and false hope. She lost so many of her allies that the assassin felt lost. Even worse was how Chelsea feared of the kind of death she would get from the monster known as Doomsday. Even worse, what it would do to Tatsumi. Those thoughts and the situation at hand had really messed her up.
"Look, I understand your frustrations right now and how what we're saying doesn't sound like help. But trust us when we say that we have a way to end all this," Superman told the lollipop girl, being as reassuring as possible.
Chelsea only looked back with a non convinced look on her. "And how exactly do you plan on ending this?"
"By getting rid of it, that's how," Batman spoke, getting Chelsea and everyone else's attention as he was looking through the map of the land. "While you all did your best to evacuate the surviving citizens from the city, your plans for dealing with Doomsday were doomed to fail."
The group, beside Superman, were taken back by what the Dark Knight had just told them. Especially Twiggs as he felt insulted as a general. "And why do you say that?" he questioned.
Batman looked at Twiggs, as well as everyone else in the room, with his usual stern look as he said, "Because your only objective with Doomsday is to just kill it. From all the plans and strategies I've seen here, killing Doomsday was your only attempt. Not once have any of you thought of any other alternative options to stop the monster. Options such as trapping it, retraining it to the point that it could no longer be a threat."
"Trap it? Are you insane?" Chelsea spoke out in shock. "If you haven't noticed, that thing was killing people from left to right. Including our allies. So trapping it, if it was even possible, wasn't in our minds during the time. Besides, we're in a war where it's kill or be killed."
"I know. I can see that. And while I don't blame you all for having this mindset, especially not knowing about Doomsday's full power of its adaptability. But the fact that none of you thought of another way to handle the situation that didn't involve killing, it was what caused so much death. And even worse, allow Doomsday to adapt even further and gain new powers. Making it more difficult to deal with," Batman told them, being as harsh as possible.
While they didn't like his attitude and phrasing, the group of the Revolutionary Army knew that Batman was right. They were just realizing that their constant assaults and attempts to kill Doomsday only made things worse for them and made the monster stronger than ever. The group felt that every action they did only increased their demise. They felt like there was no way to deal with Doomsday with the current state it's in. That is until Batman spoke once more.
"Although the situation has become more difficult to deal with, there is still a way to take care of Doomsday," the Dark Knight said, surprising the group.
"Seriously? How can we stop Doomsday? Well, more so, you two have something that can stop the monster?" Dorothea questioned the two heros.
"We do actually," Superman answered as he signaled Batman to show them their trump card against Doomsday. Complying, the Caped Crusader pulled out from his utility belt a strange looking device. It almost resembled a gun with its shape but the three metal bars around the body and three circular lights on the front said otherwise. Whatever it was, it was definitely an advanced piece of technology.
"What you're all seeing here is a device called the Quantum Teleporter. During our missions that involved dealing with a massive crisis, a league member of ours, Cyborg, created this device that allowed us to teleport through parallel worlds. In simpler terms, travel through dimensions," Batman explained as he showed off the device.
Chelsea, Twiggs, and Tyler were very much impressed by the teleporter. Though Dororthea had the most ecstatic look on her out of all of them. Her eyes were sparkling and mouth smiling as she looked at the device with so much intrigue and joy.
"Oh my god, one of you actually created something like this? That. Is. Remarkable!" Dorothea yelled with so much enthusiasm.
"If you think that's impressive? Cyborg and another colleague, Flash, tinkered with it further to allow us to even travel to any period of time," Superman commented, causing the alchemist to grasp in shock.
"Extraordinary..." Dorothea uttered by the information given to her. "This device is by far one of the best inventions ever created. Just being near its presence makes me so blessed. I can't believe you have something like this in your world."
"Well, where we're from, the concept of dimension travel becomes a common occurrence," Clark admitted casually.
"Are you for real?" Tyler said, taken back by what he had just heard.
"We have. But enough of that," Batman intervened as he had everyone pay their attention to the map of the outer area of the Capital, from outside of the walls. "After looking through and understanding this map, I've figured out what our plan will be to stop Doomsday.
"And your plan being?" Twiggs questioned.
Batman pointed at a particular spot on the map for everyone to focus on. The area in particular is a large, somewhat hilly, land with many mountains surrounding it. "We're going to force Doomsday into this area."
Twiggs was taken back by this as he asked, "The Great Valley? Why there? Other than a few villages, the valley is completely empty."
"Exactly. This is a perfect location to keep Doomsday trapped in to execute the plan," Batman told them as he further explained. "Once we lure Doomsday there and keep the creature occupied, I'll use the Quantum Teleporter to create a portal. Which we will then push the monster in."
"Push him through a portal? So just push the bastard somewhere else in this universe to be someone else's problem?" Chelsea spoke up, clearly not too thrilled with the idea.
"Who said anything about that?" the Caped Crusader asked, catching the lollipop girl off guard. "We're not just teleporting Doomsday to another dimension. We're sending it to a specific place that will end it for sure."
"End it? Have you forgotten about Doomsday's ridiculous adaptability? I doubt there is any place in existence that you can send it without the beast automatically acclimating to it," Dorothea pointed out.
"How about the end of time?"
Those very words for everyone's full attention as they now wonder what Batman is talking about. "The end of time? What do you mean by that?" Twiggs asked.
"Exactly what I said. As Superman said, the teleporter can teleport you to different periods of time. And like anything in existence, time will eventually end. A place where life can't possibly exist in. That is where we're sending Doomsday to," Batman answered.
Hearing the plan, Chelsea, Tyler, Dorothea, and Twiggs were very much impressed. To think that Batman could come up with such a simple, yet tactile plan like this quickly and explain it so well. From his authoritative voice and intellectual mind, they can tell that the Dark Knight is a force to be reckoned with.
"So by putting the monster into a place where it's adaptability is useless, it will be killed off with ease. That's ingenious," Dorothea complimented the hero.
"It really is. And the reason we're luring the monster into the Great Valley is to prevent it from causing destruction to the city and any other populated area," Twiggs added in.
"You're half right. The other reason is to make sure that Doomsday is in one location so we use the teleporter on it with no issue," Batman clarified. "We're going to get one shot at this so we need to have the monster trapped in this one spot for my plan to work."
"Okay, seems simple enough. But what are we going to do about the other villages?" Tyler asked as he went up to the map pointed at seven locations. "There are seven in total. And while the population is small with each, we're still going to have a lot of people getting involved in this cross fire. So what do we do about them?"
"Simple solution, we'll have your soldiers evacuated them. From the looks of things, two of the villages are close to this safe zone. So evacuating them here shouldn't be any trouble," Superman replied. "As for the other five, we can set up an area for them to stay in for safety and to keep them away from a potential brawl."
"That's a good point. There are some good places to hide the other villages for the time being. And we have other soldiers out there as is. It could take a while but we can do it," Twiggs said.
"Then we're in an agreement?" Batman spoke out, waiting for everyone's answer to this plan. And like that, the four of the Revolutionary Army nodded in confirmation.
"Of course. Seeing as how our situation is right now, this is our only real option to take," Tyler commented. "I just hope this works."
"Don't worry, it will," Superman answered in an optimistic and hopeful tone.
Exiting the tent, Superman floated up into the air. "I'll keep Doomsday preoccupied for as long as I can. Batman, you do what needs to be done." With that, Superman flies into the sky as he heads towards the Ultimate.
"Alright then, let's get to work," Twiggs said, before turning to Chelsea. "Expect you Chelsea, you go and rest yourself. You've been through enough already and you need rest."
"What? But I can still do something for the Revolutionary Army," Chelsea argued.
"No you can't. Besides, we already have Superman and Batman to help us now. And you haven't forgotten, you aren't specialized for combat," Twiggs pointed out.
Chelsea tried to argue back, but went silent. Because she knew that Twiggs was right. From the very beginning, when Doomsday showed up, she was practically worthless against it whenever Nightraid fought the beast. Even worse is that she lost her teigu, Gaia, during their last confrontation with the monster. She didn't know what happened to her teigu, but she assumed that it was destroyed, buried in a pile of rocks now.
"Chelsea, I understand that you want to help. But you need to know your limits," Twiggs told her in an understanding tone. "If you want to do something important, go see Tatsumi. I'm sure he'll need some support after what he went through."
Hearing that, Chelsea sighed as she said, "Yeah, I guess I'll do that." With that, the lollipop girl left the group as she made her way towards the medical tent.
"Okay, with that out of the way, Batman. Since we're using the Great Valley as a rendezvous point, I need to know how long it will for your machine to fully charge?" Twiggs asked.
"The teleporter will take about an hour to fully charge it at its max," Batman answered as he began preparing the device.
"An hour?! Don't you think that's too long for us to wait? Considering the monster isn't going to give us that much time," Dorothea pointed out.
"I know but this is the only option we have. During our last fight with Doomsday in our world, it destroyed most of our stronger power units. The one I'm using for this device is the strongest we could find though it's not much honestly," the caped crusader explained as he began the charge up sequence for the teleporter. "Unless we have something else that could provide much more energy, this is all we got."
"In that case, what about the teigus?" Twiggs suggested, getting Batman's attention. "Teigus?" he said, signifying an explanation for what that is.
"Oh right, this world is still foreign to you," Twiggs remembered before explaining himself. "Teigu are powerful weapons in our world that we use for combat purposes. Such as Tyler with his teigu, Spectator." Twiggs pointed at the Spectator teigu at his ally's head for the superhero to see.
"How can a teigu be able to help us?" Batman asked.
"Well, there are a couple types of teigu that are able to generate energy on their own. Maybe one of our teigu could be used as a stronger energy source for your device," Twiggs better explained.
"That would sound beneficial, however, I don't believe you have what I need. That is unless you have a teigu that can transcend reality in some way," Batman clarified.
"Damn, we don't have a teigu like that in our inventory," Twiggs said. "But I feel like there is a teigu like that. I just can't remember the na-"
"Shambhala..."
Everyone paid their attention to Dorothea as she looked like she had remembered something.
"What?" Tyler asked.
"Shambhala is our answer," Dorothea replied as she turned to Batman. "Batman, Shambhala is a teigu that allows its user to teleport anywhere they wish by using spatial manipulation. With the only requirement to place markers at their desired target or location. While it requires a user, it can generate on it's own. Can you use that to help us?"
Batman began to hypothesize the possibility in his head for a couple seconds before giving his thesis. "With the right equipment, which I may have, it can work. This Shambhala may actually be something we'll need."
"Of course, I am an intelligent person after all," the alchemist boasted in her ego.
"Sounds like a plan," Tyler agreed before turning his attention to Dorothea. "So, where's the teigu?"
"Oh simple, it's..." Dorothea answered proudly but then stopped talking. Her expression changed into shock and dumbfoundedness, her face turning pale as she remembered one fatal issue in their plan.
"It's back at the Capital," she uttered.
"Pardon?" Twiggs questioned.
Dorothea slammed her hands onto her face as she groaned in frustration. "I left Shambhala back in the Capital at the Wild Hunt headquarters. I was so focused on making a grenade that I forgot about it."
"Really?! We are in a live or death situation and you left behind the one thing we needed to survive?! What the fuck?!" Twiggs shouted in anger at the alchemist.
"Give me a fucking break! I didn't think we would be in a situation like this and Shambhala isn't exactly compatible with me!" Dorothea argued.
"Enough!"
Twiggs and Dorothea were silent as they turned to Batman, looking at them with his famous stare. "Now is not the time to be arguing. Right now, we need to head to the Capital and get to this teigu."
"Are you serious? Even with horses, it'll take us half an hour just to get to the city!" Twiggs pointed out.
"Who said I was going to use horses to get there?" Batman said, making them confused by what he meant.
The three followed the caped crusader as they made their way out of the cliffs of the safe zone. Now at a barren area, with the Capital miles away in the distance. As one of the three were about to ask why they were there, Batman pressed a few buttons on his wrist device. Once he did that, something unexpected happened.
Coming from the distance, they heard a very unsettling sound. It almost sounded like a roar from an unknown danger beast, strangely mixed with something metallic. There were other noises they heard but it was too alienated for them to make out. A bright light shone, growing closer as the sound grew in intensity, until it finally appeared. Turning from the corner of one of the cliff sides and stopping in front of them was truly a sight to behold. While they were no strangers to carriages, this was unlike any carriage they had ever seen. It was completely black, with a sleek design and was covered in some kind of armor. The strange contraption was now making a new sound that was similar to an intense growl that no animal alive can make.
As the group looked at the strange contraption with awe and fright, Batman walked up to it as the strange carriage began to move, opening up to reveal a backseat covered with tech that they had never seen before.
"Uh... Batman?" Dorothea asked, managing to speak out from her shocked state as she pointed at the contraption. "What is that?"
"This is what we'll be using to get to our destination faster," Batman simply replied as he pressed a few buttons. On cue, the back of the contraption opened to reveal two seats with bars on them. "Tyler and Dorothea, you two will be coming with me to the Capital and find this teigu. So get in, now."
Immediately, Tyler picked up Dorothea along with her wheelchair as he made his way to the back of the carriage. "Well, you heard him," Tyler said as he placed Dorothea on her seat.
"Twiggs!" Batman shouted, getting the general's attention. "I want to start messaging your other troops in the villages of the Great Valley. Have them begin evacuating everyone there and make sure they're hidden and safe so they don't get caught in the crossfire. I don't want anyone in the valley when we began our plan."
"I'll do what I can," Twiggs responded as he ran back to the safe zone.
"Okay Batman, me and Dorothea are good to go," Tyler shouted as he and the alchemist were seated up well. Hearing that, Batman closed the doors of the contraption as it began to roar once more.
"My god, this is one of the most incredible pieces of tech I've ever seen. It's like a carriage but without horses to pull it. I can tell as this contraption definitely runs on a different source of power," Dorothea said as she geeked out by the tech this contraption had.
"Wow, you are really into this, aren't you," Tyler uttered, taken back by the alchemist's gushing.
"Can you blame me?! This is the first time I'm seeing technology at this level!" she said with so much enthusiasm, before turning her attention to Batman. "What is this amazing piece of work?!"
"It's a vehicle that's known as a car, which runs on its own source of power called an engine. Though my vehicle is more advanced than that. I call it the Batmobile," Batman simply explained.
"The Batmobile? What kind of name is that?" Tyler questioned by the dumb name for a vehicle like this.
"We're done talking. What you two need to do is prepare yourselves," the caped crusader said, putting his hands on the wheel. "Things are going to be bumpy."
With that, Batman stepped onto the gas petal and the Batmobile began to move at incredible speeds, kicking up dirt in the process. The vehicle was moving at incredible speeds with the afterburner blasting at full power. All the while Dorothea and Tyler were screaming for dear life, holding onto the bars for support. The Dark Knight made a small smirk by their screaming as he continued to drive the Batmobile towards the Capital.
Random Forest
Reaching his location after a few minutes of flying, Superman landed into a large and lush forest. The sun begins to set as it starts to become dusk. Once there, the Man of Steel stood there as he waited for the monstrosity to appear. The entire area fell into silence with only the sound of nature being made in the background. The superhero stood there quietly, not moving a single inch. Waiting for his foe to come. As he waited, the ground trembled as he heard the sound of trees being destroyed and cleared away. Along with all kinds of animals and danger beasts running past Superman. As they were trying to escape with their lives. Clark knew well that his deadliest foe was getting close. After a couple more seconds, slashing the tree down in front of Superman's view, emerged Doomsday.
The Walking War Machine let out a large and terrifying roar before it noticed Superman in front of it. The beast looked at the Man of Steel with strong hatred. Despite not having an actual brain, the monster remembered this superhero all too well. The same lifeform that has always gotten in its way of killing any living being it saw. The same being Doomsday fought against many times. The same superhero that had somehow successfully killed it in the past. It was these very reasons that the Ultimate absolutely despised Superman and would want nothing more but to kill him.
"Looks like we meet again, Doomsday," Superman said coldly as the beast stared at him with its blood red eyes, letting out a threatening growl. "And I've seen the amount of destruction you've caused. The many lives you stole."
"I won't allow you to bring anymore harm to this dimension." Superman got into his fighting stance, giving Doomsday a fierce look from his eyes. "It's time that I stop your path of carnage, once and for all."
Doomsday responded with a loud roar as the beast charged at Superman. The Man of Steel did the same as he flew at the Ultimate. When the two opponents closed in, the Kryptonian and monster threw out a punch, colliding with each other and creating a massive shockwave that pushed away every tree around them. Destroying the ecosystem of the forest with their radius. From that simple attack, Superman and Doomsday would be fighting to the death.
Safe Zone, Medical Tent
Back at the Safe Zone, inside a green tent with a medical sign on it, Chelsea was sitting on a chair as she was looking at a still sleeping Tatsumi. Dr Banting had done his work and healed up all of Tatsumi's wounds. Now all the teen needed was to rest. While Banting was dealing with his other patients, Chelsea took it as her responsibility to look after Tatsumi.
"Oh Tatsumi, we've been through a lot haven't we?" the lollipop girl said as she held the boy's hand.
"This afternoon, everyone in Nightraid were doing there own thing. Akame and Susanoo cooking, you and Bulat training, Leone and Lubbock doing their own thing back at the Capital, Sheele reading, and Najenda doing her job as leader." Chelsea remembered all of her allies and how relaxed they were. Just doing their own thing with a smile.
"I even remember getting into an argument with Mine about her flat chest. It was funny seeing her being so upset about that," she said, as tears began to show in her eyes. "Me and Mine never really got along, but she was always fun to be around and pick on. Like my very own sister in a way. Pretty much everyone of us in Nightraid were one big happy family."
Like that, Chelsea began to cry. Letting out of the sadness and grief she had held within herself. Finally allowing her to let all of it out. "I can't believe that they're gone... Why were we the only ones to survive through all this when they were killed by that beast?"
'Why does this always happen to me?' she thought to herself as she weeped. Chelsea always lost people she started to care for. She began to remember her previous team and others she had worked with. How much she loves being around them. How much she saw them as family. But everytime, the one moment she had to leave for a mission, her group, her allies, would be killed by the Empire. It was always one of her lowest points in her life.
Whenever Chelsea got close to new people, a new team, they would later on be killed. With her being the only survivor. She felt like the universe was fucking with her. Like it wants her to never have a long term relationship with others, to make her suffer. And now, all of Nightraid, her newest and closest family she's had, are all dead within a day. All because of the monster known as Doomsday. They all fought against the beast with all their might. But, like the rest, they were slaughtered. While they all fought for their lives, Chelsea barely did anything to contribute. Why was she allowed to live when her friends deserved it more than her. They at least fought for something they valued and cared for. Unlike herself.
"Hell, why am I still alive? My life isn't worth a damn. Everyone else had more of a reason to live. A goal of their own to fight for. I'm just an assassin with nothing to live for." She continued to cry, letting her tears fall from her cheeks. Then suddenly, Tatsumi's hand began to grip onto Chelsea's.
"Chelsea..."
Getting her attention, Chelsea turned to see Tatsumi as he had awakened from his slumber. Looking at her with a small smile. The same one that brought so much calm and joy to the lollipop girl.
"Tatsumi, are you alright?" she asked, surprised yet overjoyed.
Tatsumi groaned in pain as he positioned himself in a sitting position. "Aside from the pain, I'll be alright. Besides, that doesn't right now." He looks at Chelsea with a serious yet concerning look. "I feel like you need some convincing that your life matters."
"So you heard?" Chelsea said as she turned away from Tatsumi, feeling ashamed.
"Hard for me not to. But it was harder to listen to. Hearing you talk to yourself like that. Saying how your life meant nothing," he said, feeling saddened.
"Well... it's true, isn't it?" Chelsea felt herself crying again as tears fell out her eyes. "I didn't do anything to help stop Doomsday, yet everyone else, including you, did their damn hardest to do so. So why am I alive when they deserved it more?"
"Chelsea, look at me," Tatsumi said, getting the girl to look at him as he had a serious look. "We're alive right now okay? Everyone who isn't gave us this chance, this gift to stay alive. They didn't die for a government or for some tribe but to give everyone else a chance to live."
"Does that matter though? They were so powerful and they had so much to live for. Lubbock for Najenda, Akame for her sister, Wave for Kurome and even you were fighting for your friends." She began to feel that same darkness creep back into her mind. "What do I have to live for?"
Tatsumi paused for a moment and then gave his answer. "I don't know. I don't have the answers and it's something no one can answer but you."
"But I don't know where to start, I feel lost. How am I going to find my reason to live like this?" Chelsea argued, feeling more confused than she was before.
"I get it. I felt that way before too," Tatsumi admitted, getting Chelsea's attention before he continued. "When I lost my Sayo and Ieyasu, I felt lost too. I felt like I didn't have much to live for. Even when I still had my village, I felt alone."
"So what changed?" the lollipop girl asked.
"It's when I was taken in by Nightraid," he answered. "You guys started to become my new family. My new friends that I knew I can rely on, no matter what. So losing almost everyone was still painful to go through. I almost felt like I was going to lose my will to continue on."
"What do you mean almost? What else do you have that gives you purpose?" Chelsea asked once more.
Tatsumi looked at her before he answered. "It was you."
Chelsea was very much taken back by this. She shouldn't have as Tatsumi always valued everyone is Nightraid. But she didn't think he would value her to this degree.
"Chelsea, we're all that's left of our group. And you're special to me. Even more so since you made that confession. So you're more important to me than ever. And since you're alive, I have more than enough reason to continue on living," Tatsumi explained to her. "Even if I don't see myself as someone worthy enough to be yours, if you want to be with me, then I should at least put in the effort to love and support you."
"Tatsumi, what are you saying?" Chelsea said in shock then spoke in a reassuring tone. "You've more than proven yourself good enough. And you don't need to be anything else to look better. I love you for who you are, so don't look down on yourself like that."
"The same can be said with you," Tatsumi retorted playfully before talking in a more serious yet sincere manner. "Don't look down on yourself. And there's no need to be sad because this time, you won't be alone. I promise I'll be with you. And I will help you find a new reason to live for."
Hearing those words touched Chelsea's heart as she began to sob more and hug Tatsumi, with the teen hugging back. Never has she felt this happy or ever cried this much. Those encouraging words were what she needed to hear after all the hardship she endured. After losing so many of her loved ones, Chelsea was so grateful that Tatsumi was still by his side. She was happy that the boy she loves so ever much felt the same for her.
"Thank you... Tatsumi," Chelsea uttered, her voice trembling from her sobbing.
Tatsumi smiled, holding her tighter against his body. "Anytime."
Great Valley, Random Village
In a village, near the Great Valley, everyone was being escorted from their homes by the Revolutionary Army. They had gotten a message from Twiggs, via messenger hawk, to get everyone out of the Great Valley. So far, things were looking good as they managed to get most of the villagers out as they led them to the Safe Zone.
As the last of people were being escorted, we see a mother as she had her nine year old daughter with her, who had a doll in her arm. "Mommy, what's going on? Is something bad going to happen?" the little girl asked.
"Something bad is happening but don't worry sweetie. The Revolutionary Army will take care of the problem. We're just being moved somewhere else for our safety," the mother reassured her daughter. "It'll be all over soon."
"Okay mommy," the girl said as she hugged her doll tightly, making their way to the carriages being looked after by three Revolutionary Army soldiers.
"Okay, this seems like the last of them," one of them said.
"Yup, let's get these people to the Safe Zone and-" the other soldier stopped talking as he spotted something. "Hey, what the hell is that in the sky?"
The first soldier looked up to where the second soldier was looking. In the sky, he noticed something small. He noticed that it was two things that seemed like they were fighting. Even worse, they were heading their way towards them.
"Oh shit," the first soldier uttered before shouting at the remaining, saying, "Everyone, run back! Clear this area now! Now! Now! Now!"
Doing what he said, the villagers and soldiers moved out of the way in time as the thing crash landed near them, kicking up dirt. One figure crashed into a hill nearby while the other crashed into a house, collapsing it to the ground.
Everyone looked on in shock by the sudden appearance of whatever it was that appeared to them. Wondering whether or not it was alive. If alive, were they friend or foe. However, their train of thoughts stopped when they heard screaming. They all see a woman, screaming in pain, as a massive rock had crushed her leg, trapping her. All the while, the man was trying his best to move the rock.
"Hold on, Lisa! I'll get you out!" he said, trying his best to move the massive rock. Though, there was no sign of it moving an inch. "Somebody help me!"
The two soldiers came in to help the man push the rock off the woman. But even with tree men, the rock wouldn't budge. "Fucking hell, thing rock has to weigh more than a ton. I don't think we'll be able to move this thing," one of the soldiers said.
"We can't give up! I'm not leaving my wife here!" the man shouted.
The men kept doing their best to move the massive rock to save the woman. But no matter how much they tried, the rock wouldn't budge in the slightest. Just when hope seems lost, something unexpected happens. The rock began to move. The men thought that they managed to have enough strength to push the rock. But that wasn't the case. The rock was being lifted into the air instead of being pushed. Everyone was wondering what was going on. Their answer was Superman as the superhero lifted the rock with ease and threw it aside.
As the people looked at the superhero at awe, wondering who he was, the Man of Steel picked up the woman and gave her to her husband. "She'll be fine, but will need immediate medical attention," Superman told the man.
"Who are you?" the man asked.
"I'm just someone here to help. But right now, all of you need to get out of here," Superman said, in a serious tone.
"What do you mean?" one of the Revolutionary Army soldiers asked.
Before Superman could tell them, a laser beam came from his left and struck the hero, launching him through a bunch of houses. The group were taken back by this, wondering who was responsible.
"BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The roar got the villager's attention as they looked to their right. Their eyes widened as they all felt dread and fear as they saw Doomsday, who was currently walking towards them with its claws out.
"Everyone to the carriage, now!" one soldier shouted.
The people did what he said as they ran for their lives from the beast. But Doomsday was quick as it was towards its prey, ready to tear them apart. However, the Ultimate was stopped when Superman came back and flew towards the monster, ramming it away from the villagers.
Ramming Doomsday through multiple houses and hills, Superman slammed the beast to the ground, where he proceeded to punch the monster multiple times. However, Doomsday was quick to retaliate as it grabbed the Man of Steel and slammed him to the ground on its right. Then the Walking War Machine threw the hero to the left towards a hill. As the beast got up, it proceeded to unleash a massive wave of fire to where Superman was at, scorching the earth and burning anything into ash. But, to the monster's shock, Superman came out of the sea of flames and suckerpunch Doomsday in the face. The superhero began to punch the monster's upper area and face, pushing it back. But when the Man of Steel landed another punch on the beast, Doomsday used its electric powers to shock the hero with a million volts of electricity. Superman could only scream in agony as Doomsday grabbed him by the head and slammed him to the ground, creating large tremors around them. The Man of Steel tried to get up and quickly recover from the pain, but the Walking War Machine wouldn't allow him as it began to stomp on Superman with its electrified foot. The Ultimate kept stomping away as the earth around started to shake. Almost similar to an earthquake.
Back at the carriage, the soldiers and villagers were still on the move to their destination. Until they were stopped by the earthquake, shaking the ground and stopping them in their tracks. "Holy shit, what the hell is going on?!" one of the soldiers shouted as he tried to regain control of the panicking horses.
The earthquake continued as it shook the carriage in a violent manner. Its shaking was so intense that the ground began to break apart and caused five passengers to be forced off the carriage. "Shit, this isn't good," another soldier groaned as he and his partner ran to the fallen passengers.
Back to the fight, Doomsday delivered one final stomp before the creature picked up Superman and tossed him to a mountain, many miles away, destroying it in the process. With the hero gone, the Ultimate looked around the area for the carriage. The monster eventually found it, many kilometers away, as the cart was at a dead stop with two soldiers helping five people back into the carriage. Seeing its prey completely defenseless, Doomsday jumped up into the air, towards them.
As the two soldiers managed to get two people inside the carriage, one of them spotted the beast falling towards their location. They all scream in fright by this as they could do nothing to stop this. As Doomsday was close to crushing the people into a bloody paste, Superman flies in, just in time to tackle the monster away from them.
Crash landing elsewhere, the Walking War Machine was about to get up from its crater. But the Man of Steel wouldn't allow that as he grabbed onto the symbol on his chest. Then he threw a cellophane S at the monster as it grew in size and easily wrapped itself around the beast. Before Doomsday could even struggle to break free, Clark immediately shot his heat vision into the ground beneath the Ultimate. With that, it caused an underground lava cave to erupt as lava spewed all over Doomsday. As the molten rock covered the beast, Superman used his super breath to cool the lava, trapping the monster inside an obsidian prison. But the superhero wasn't as he continued his super breath to cover the obsidian prison with ice. Doomsday let out a maddening roar as it tried to break free from its imprisonment. Meanwhile, Clark floated in the air, looking at the monster, as he took a quick breather. While also making sure that the Ultimate doesn't break free for the others to escape.
Doomsday continued to use all its strength to break free from its prison. So much so that the land around the beast was cracking up by its force. Many pieces of land popped off as large cracks and fissures appeared. As this happened, the soldiers were helping the mother and her daughter inside the carriage. But then, the ground suddenly ruptured, causing the soldiers, mother, and daughter to fall back. Falling to the ground, the young child accidentally lost her grip of her doll, resulting in the toy to fall further away. Seeing this, the little girl quickly got up and ran towards her inanimate friend. Her mother saw this and immediately got up to chase after her child.
Back to Doomsday, the monster continued to try to break free, creating cracks on the ice and obsidian, and showing tears on the cellophane wrapping. But Superman was quick to use his ice breath to prolong the struggle, freezing up and fixing the cracks. Even freezing the obsidian on the beast's arms to stop them from breaking the prison. Irritated by this, the Ultimate let out of roar before unleashing a massive fire breath at the Man of Steel. Though Clark was quick enough to evade the attack. Though before he could do anything, his hearing caught something.
"Lillie, come back!"
Turning to the direction of the sound, Superman's eyes widened as he saw a little girl and mother in the open. What made this worse was the fact that the two were in the direction of the fire attack. The mother managed to grab her daughter and was about to run back to the carriage. But she felt an intense amount of heat on her. Looking to her side, the woman saw a torrent of flames heading towards her and her daughter. Seeing her situation, the mother simply hugged her child and looked away from the fire and prepared to meet their fate. Feeling the heat get more intense, the mother began to tear up. She didn't want her daughter to die like this. But if there was one positive to this, is that they get to die in each other's arms.
The flames hit its target and covered the mother and daughter in a wild, burning inferno. The other villagers and soldiers looked in horror by the site of two people being burned alive. As the wave of fire disappeared, the group expected to see two charcoal up skeletons. But to their surprise, at their center attention, they see Superman, using his entire body and cape as a shield to protect the mother and daughter, both who looked at the man with shock in their eyes.
Once everything was fine, Superman looked at the two and said, "Are you two alright?"
Despite the shock, the mother nodded at his question as she held her child tightly. Thanking their god that they were still alive.
"Good, then you two need to get back to the carriage with the others and leave immediately," Superman said before looking at the girl. "As for you little lady, I want you to stay by your mother's side no matter what." He then gave her a reassuring smile as the hero handed the child her toy doll. "Everything's going to be okay."
The little girl takes the doll back as she hugs it, having a look of relief to have it back. With that, the mother and daughter began to walk back to the carriage, but then the girl stopped for a moment. Before anyone could wonder why she stopped moving, the girl ran back to Superman as she hugged him. While the Man of Steel was taken back this, he simply smiled as he hugged her back. The hug lasted for a couple seconds before the little girl ran back to her mother as the both made their way back to the carriage.
With that done, Doomsday breaks out from it's prison as it lets out a terrifying roar, getting Superman's attention. Seeing this, the superhero laid his attention back to the monster and flew at it. Grabbing a large piece of obsidian, the Ultimate chucked it at the Man of Steel. Fortunately, Clark caught the obsidian with some effort and threw it back at the monster. Shattering into a thousand pieces, the obsidian, while not damaging the beast, did dazed Doomsday. This allowed Superman to fly past the creature, pulling its hair, and dragging it to a different location. Pulling and throwing the monstrosity to a nearby mountain, causing it to explode from the incredible impact.
The Man of Steel flew towards the mountain to confront the monster. But when he got there, Clark was surprised to see that Doomsday was nowhere to be seen. Nothing but rock, snow, and other debris around. Because of this, Superman looks around with his x-ray vision to find the Ultimate. Yet he was finding nothing so far. Not even the slightest bit of movement was made. As Clark was about to think of something else to find Doomsday, his super hearing picked up something. It sounded like intense winds coming his way. Even feeling the air behind him becoming cold. Connecting the dots, Superman quickly flew to the side. Nearly avoiding the nitrogen breath's range. Clark looked behind him to see Doomsday, viciously looking at him as it charged up and forced another nitrogen breath at him. The superhero began to evade the beast's attack, which was freezing the area around them. Turning whatever was hit into ice at an atomic level. Dodging another nitrogen breath attack, Superman fired off his heat vision directly at Doomsday's face, blinding the monster.
Taking advantage of this, Superman flew towards Doomsday, tackling the monster through multiple mountains. Clark repeatedly punched the Ultimate, pushing it further into the earth below. However, the beast slammed its fists together onto the hero's head. As the Man of Steel was stunned by the painful concussion, the Walking War Machine kicked the hero away from it. Blasting him out of the mountains and into the thermosphere. Doomsday followed suit as it jumped out of the rubble of the mountains and launched itself towards Superman. Clark didn't have time to react as the monster managed to grab a hold of him and began to beat him down with its electrical fist. Even forming it's bone claws to resemble bass knuckles. The Ultimate kept this up as the two began to fall back down, creating an intense heat around them.
Despite the grueling pain and his body feeling numb from the electricity, Superman managed to push through the pain to use his heat vision. But Doomsday saw this and quickly grabbed onto Clark's face, blocking his eyesight. This unfortunately caused the heat vision to fire into the beast's hand, creating a massive build up of plasma with the combination of the electricity surrounding the monster's hand. Because of this, it created a gigantic explosion that lit up the sky around them for a couple seconds. Becoming a clear blue before turning back into dark purple. The explosion launched both Superman and Doomsday into different directions. The Man of Steel was thrown into the nearby ocean while the Ultimate was thrown to an isolated forest, creating a massive crater in the process.
Getting up and climbing out the crater, Doomsday walked through the forest until it stopped. The Walking War Machine decided to stand there and wait for Superman to come. It knew the hero would come sooner or later. It was in his nature to come and stop the monster like itself. Even if the superhero knew that he would just be killed like the rest. As Doomsday continued to wait, it heard an intense growl.
Turning to its side, the monster was met with some kind of wolf like danger beast. The wolf was looking at it with murderous eyes as it was challenging the Ultimate to a showdown. But before any of the two creatures could do anything, the wolf danger beast let out of howl. A loud, echoing howl into the area. While the Walking War Machine was curious about what had happened, out from the forest came multiple other danger beasts of various species that surrounded the Ultimate. Though the way they looked was a bit odd as the other danger beasts looked like they were in some kind of hypnotized state. Especially as they all had a dull look in their eyes. The wolf danger beast looked at the situation with satisfaction in its eyes. Most danger beasts would stand no chance against an army like this. The wolf licked its lips as it seemed like it would be good tonight. Or so it thought.
While the wolf danger beast saw this as a free meal, Doomsday saw the army as weak animals, ready for the slaughter. Seeing this, Doomsday formed a small grin as it was ready for a bloodbath.
Eastern Area of the Capital, Wild Hunt Headquarters
In the empty, demolished streets of the once great Empire, the Batmobile drove through at incredible speeds. At less than fourteen minutes, the vehicle made it all the way to the headquarters. Going at an immediate stop, the Batmobile was now in front of the building. The top door of the vehicle opened as Batman hopped off. He then pressed a few buttons on his arm to allow the back of the car to open to let Tyler and Dorothea out. Tyler was the first to get off as the vehicle and ran towards a nearby building and vomited.
Dorothea was still on her seat as she needed assistance due to her broken leg. Bad for her as she was on the verge to puke. Fortunately, Batman came to the rescue as he gave the alchemist a doggy bag, which she immediately grabbed and let it all out.
"Take deep breaths and try not to move your head too much," Batman instructed Dorothea, who nodded back, as he helped her off the seat into her wheelchair.
Back with Tyler, he seemed to be somewhat fine as he was done puking out whatever he ate earlier. Though the Spectator user felt a little dizzy and he was somewhat wobbly. He wasn't completely sure if he could walk. Though Batman came in to help as he pulled out a packet from his utility belt, ripped it open, and held it under Tyler's nose so he could smell it. The moment Tyler smelled the open packet, he jumped back in disgust as he didn't expect that.
"Ugh, what the hell did you do that for?!" Tyler complained.
"This is a chemical compound that emits a small yet strong horrific smell," Batman told the teigu user in a neutral look. "Are you feeling alright?"
When the Dark Knight asked him that, Tyler examined himself and was surprised to see that he felt better now. At least enough that he can walk normally again. "Yeah, I guess I am. Thanks."
"Good, then let's get going," Batman said as he followed Dorothea to the headquarters, Tyler soon doing the same.
Entering the headquarters, the three went through the building, passing by the main area that was pretty much a bar. Walking through the hallway, Dorothea led her two companions into her lab. Filled with all kinds of chemicals, many creatures inside tubes, and other pieces of tech, the alchemist's man had a lot of resources to work with.
"Wow, you sure have a lot of stuff here," Tyler commented as he looked at the abominations being produced inside in one of the tubes.
"Well I am an alchemist for the Empire. So I have a lot of resources for my work. Though I have more resources back at the Palace," Dorothea replied as she looked through her stuff. "But seeing as Doomsday burned it down to the ground, this is our second best option. You two can look around the place. But we have to make sure we find Shambhala."
Like that, the three looked through the laboratory for the teigu. Through their search, Batman found a few documents that caught his interest. Reading them through, he was met with some intriguing yet disturbing information of the experiments done here. The many chimeras and deadly chemicals created for war purposes. All written in great detail by the alchemist Dorothea. He would confront the alchemist about this as he walked towards her.
"You seemed to have done a lot of experiments in this lab of yours," Batman said, in a disapproving tone.
Dorothea paused for a moment before sighing. "So... you read my work, huh?"
"I have," the Dark Knight replied regrettably. "I had a suspicion with you when you mentioned how you created that grenade to kill Doomsday. And it seemed that you created other projects. Projects that are used to create weapons, gases, and abominations to nature for this city's government. And it seemed to enjoy every second of it from the way you wrote these documents."
Dorothea gave out of huff before going back to her search for Shambhala. "I did. I enjoyed every second of my work. Because the better my creations became, the more likely I would achieve my goal."
"Your goal?" Batman asked. The alchemist remained silent for a bit before she answered the hero's question.
"Ever since I started my career as an alchemist, I've done a lot of experiments and research. I was considered one of these brightest minds in the history of alchemy," she boosted to herself, remembering all the praise she received in her line of work. "Some even said that I could possibly achieve the ultimate goal that other famous alchemists have and are still trying to achieve; the gift of immortality."
That got Batman's full attention as he was reminded of someone else he had fought in the past. Remembering Ra's Al Ghul using the Lazarus Pit to have his own version of immortality. And if it was anything like the Lazarus Pit, there were consequences and risks in her plans.
"I took that up as a challenge. I truly thought that I could achieve that feat. And I was willing to gain immortality no matter what... Even if it meant sacrificing my humanity," Dorothea said, remembering how determined she was to accomplish the impossible.
"Like how you captured and killed all those people like cattle?" Tyler pointed out, displeased by her past crimes as he was still looking for Shambhala.
Batman looked back at Dorothea for an explanation. "What does he mean by that?"
The alchemist was looking a bit uncomfortable, sighing once more. But she got herself to respond. "Basically, when I began my first couple years of searching for immortality, I found something that I believe could lead me to my goal. I discovered that by stealing the life energy from people, I was able to increase my lifespan by a good number of years."
Dorothea examined her body and skin, seeing how youthful they were. Even though she knew very well that it was all fake. "I look like I'm in my twenties, even though I'm actually a hundred and seventy-six."
The room was silent as Dorothea allowed Batman and Tyler to fully absorb what they were told. She couldn't blame them since the alchemist just admitted her biggest sin she has ever committed. After fully processing everything, the Caped Crusader spoke up.
"Now I understand why many of the soldiers looked at you with complete distrust. You're a war criminal responsible for murder and inhuman experimentation. And the fact that you've been doing this for so long means that you have to kill around five hundred people just to keep yourself alive," the Dark Knight said.
"You hit the nail on the coffin in that," Tyler added in. "Hell, I still question whether or not I should have killed you. After all, you deserve it for all the deaths you've caused for your sick goals."
"And I'm assuming you or one of your higher ups would kill me after this is all over," Dorothea asked.
"Most likely. Considering the likelihood that you would continue on your experiments against nature when we get rid of Doomsday," Tyler answered.
When the alchemist got her answer, Dorothea began to chuckle to herself, shocking Batman and Tyler. The Spectator user expected that she was laughing at them, smugly believing that she would escape before the Revolutionary Army would have the chance to do so. However, the Dark Knight knew perfectly well the tone of her laughter. It wasn't the sound of smugness, it was a hollow laugh. Like she was chuckling at the irony or absurdity of the situation.
"And what's so funny?" Tyler growled, starting to get irritated towards the alchemist.
Dorothea calmed herself before she answered, "What's funny is that you think I'm going to continue my experiments after all this."
"What do you mean by that?" Tyler questioned.
"Simple," Dorothea said before she answered his question. "When this is all over, I'm going to stop doing my work as an alchemist."
Both the men were surprised to hear her say something like that. Tyler more so as the answer he got was a bombshell for him. Especially seeing how much work and crimes the alchemist had committed just to complete her goal. And to just give up now felt wrong for her to do.
"A-Are you serious?" Tyler asked, having a hard time believing this.
"I'm serious," Dorothea replied before she gave her explanation. "Like, how could someone like me, who's devoted her entire life, give up in her alchemy all together?"
The alchemist let that question sink in before answering it. "For my answer, it has to be seeing how Doomsday was created."
"You mean the memory I gathered from the beast? About Bertron?" Tyler asked.
Dorothea nodded as she said, "Pretty much. I never realized it at first. But after thinking it through, me and Berton are pretty similar to each other. Both of us tried to play God, do a scientific impossibility for our own selfish goals. Only difference is that he managed to accomplish his goal first."
"However, Bertron wasn't prepared for when the day would come when he would create the ultimate being. Even after all that time, that idiot didn't think of any backup plans, any contingencies, nothing. That so-called scientist was a lunatic fool that didn't know what the hell he was doing in the first place," Dororthea growled out, frustrated by Bertron's plans and how much of a failure they were. How unprepared he was if when the worst had occurred.
Dorothea chuckled to herself as she realized a meaning behind a joke as she said, "I hate him for being so incompetent. Yet, he's almost exactly like me."
Tyler was surprised to hear the alchemist admit something while Batman remained neutral about it, wanting to know more. "What do you mean by that?" Tyler asked.
"Well, like him, all I've ever focused on throughout my life is wanting immortality. That was my one main goal to achieve above all else," Dorothea explained, exaggerating her words along with her body movement, before she slumped back to her chair into reality. "But then I realized, I never once thought about what I do after I achieved it. What my plans would be, what I do with my immortality, nothing."
"Even worse was the fact that I never thought about the consequences of it if I ever achieved or failed my goal. For all I know, I could have created something that could be like Doomsday. A creation that would start the end of the world. Or the entire universe, the possibilities are endless when it comes to science," the alchemist expressed, frowning at the idea that one of her experiments would go wrong. Especially on such a level like Doomsday. "And while I enjoyed working on my experiments and whatnot, I don't want to end up like Bertron. I don't want my life's work with me creating something that was out of my control. Something that would end all life instead of bringing benefits. I may be a psychotic alchemist, but I don't want to end all of life."
"So you decided to end your experiments now, so you don't regret it later on?" Batman deduced.
"Precisely," Dorothea replied as she looked through the drawers of a desk. "Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to try to ask for forgiveness or beg for mercy. After all, I've done so many crimes and atrocities. It would be insane of me to believe that they would just forgive and forget." She even laughed to herself at the absurdity of the possibility that it would happen for her.
"As long as we're able to stop Doomsday for good, I'm fine with whatever punishment I get. Hell, I'll be fine with I get the death penalty. It's better than getting killed by Doomsday," Dorothea commented jokingly before turning back to Tyler. "You hear that, I might be killed after this. I hope you'll be happy about it."
Those words left Tyler in a state of conflict. He was certainly glad that Dorothea was going to quit doing her experiments. She would no longer be a threat to the Revolutionary Army when they set up their new government for the Empire. Yet he felt conflicted when he realized that the alchemist might get executed after all. Tyler should have been glad that Dorothea would be killed after everything she's done. But at the same time, he felt sad if she died. He didn't know why he felt like this. Deciding not wanting to deal with this feeling, Tyler pushed it back into the back of his consciousness. He'll face this issue after Doomsday was dealt with.
"Anyway, since I'm finished explaining myself, can we get back to looking for Shambhala?" Dorothea questioned, which got Batman and Tyler to get back to their search. Though it didn't take long for them as Batman set aside a few papers and found the teigu, Shambhala.
"Is this it?" Batman asked as he showed Tyler and Dorothea the artifact.
"Yes, that's exactly what we're looking for," the alchemist shouted in relief. "Now, can you use this for your Quantum Teleporter?"
The Caped Crusader examined the teigu from its design and feeling the energy it had within. It almost felt like he was holding a Mother Box. Though this artifact was leagues below that in terms of technology and power it was using. Once he was with his examination, Batman gave them his thoughts.
"If I have the right tech and equipment, I can certainly use this for a better power source. I do have some needed parts in the Batmobile, but I'll need more for this to work."
Dorothea chuckled at his response as she spread her arms out to show the Dark knight her lab. "In that case, I believe I have something here that should suffice," she proudly said.
Batman looked around the lab as he saw some tech and chemicals that could be useful. Though he would have looked through them to truly know. "Then show me what you have," Batman demanded.
Once the three were done looking through the laboratory, Batman, Dorothea, and Tyler all left the headquarters. Batman and Tyler loaded all the supplies into the Batmobile while Dorthea watched.
"Okay, that's the last of it," Tyler said as he loaded in the last piece of tech into the vehicle.
"Good, then we can begin the next phase of the plan," Batman said.
"Hey, before we go, are you positive that you have everything you need for your plan?" Dorothea asked the vigilante.
"I'm certain," he replied with no sign of hesitation or second thinking.
Dorothea smiled as she pulled out a bottle of alcohol and a rag from her dress. "Great to hear," she said in relief as he combined the two items together, turning it into a molotov. Grabbing a match from her pocket, the alchemist lit up the match, used it to set the cloth on fire, then finally chucked the molotov at Wild Hunt's Headquarters. As the bottle shattered, the fire ignited the alcohol and created a massive fire. It quickly spread throughout the building as it was now engulfed within the flames.
"The hell? Why did you do that?!" Tyler shouted, shocked by what the alchemist did.
"I told you before, didn't I?" Dorothea responded, smiling at the headquarters being burned by the intense fire. Slowly reducing it into ash. "I'm done with my alchemy and experiments. And to make sure I'm not tempted into going back, I'm destroying all my work, my research, everything."
"You're really serious about this," Tyler commented, still taken back.
"Well of course, I said that I'm done and I meant it. Now that Doomsday destroyed my lab back at the Palace and with my lab here turning into ash, I'm now able to truly move on," Dorothea said happily, even laughing at the entire thing. It even looked like she was about to cry. "Look at me, I'm burning all my life's work, thinking that this will somehow fix everything I've done. I'm pretty sure anyone with basic logic, including me, will see this as just plain stupid."
"Funny, because I find what you did admirable."
Dorothea and Tyler turned to face Batman, surprised to hear at what he just said. "Dorothea, what you did in the past is unforgiven and can never be forgotten. I've met my fair share of criminals that were like you. That only cared for themselves and would do horrific things to achieve their goals."
"And you're bringing that up because?" Dorothea asked, feeling annoyed at the vigilante for something like that.
"Because you're different from them," Batman answered, shocking the alchemist completely. "It's easy for criminals to continue doing what they do. Continue to commit crimes and murder. But unlike them, you're actually making the effort to change your ways. Even making sure that you don't return to your odd habits. That takes a lot of determination and will to do that. It's true that what you did in the past cannot be forgotten or forgiven. But the fact that you're going through with this shows that you're willing to change for the better. And that truly is admirable."
Dorothea looked shocked, completely speechless by what Batman had said to her. While she barely knew anything about the Dark Knight, the alchemist had an idea that he was someone that wasn't easy to impress or get a compliment from. In fact, she questioned if he did that at all. But hearing Batman compliment her for trying to become someone better felt good. Like her efforts actually meant something. Compared to any other compliments she had in the past, Dorothea felt that this one was very much genuine, proud of her certain choices. She didn't know how to comprehend all this, how to really feel about it.
As she was trying to understand her feelings, Tyler placed his hand on her shoulder for comfort. Dorothea looked up to him as he began to give his two cents on the situation. "Okay, I'm not good with stuff like this, but I feel like Batman is right. It takes a lot of willpower to do something like this. Hell, it's rare to see anyone within this corruption to have a change of heart like you did. I don't completely trust you or really buy that you have changed. But if Batman's willing to give you a second, I feel like it's only fair that I do the same. Just don't make me regret it."
Dorothea was once again stunned by what Tyler had just said to her. The alchemist didn't think that seeing this guy, who wanted to kill her at any opportunity, gave her a second chance. It almost felt like a dream in a way. Almost too good to be true. Dorothea couldn't help herself but to look down, her hair concealing her eyes.
"Hey, are you okay?" Tyler asked, wondering what was going up with her.
Dorothea wiped her eyes as she was tearing up a little before recomposing herself. "I'm fine. Right now, we need to head back. We have a mission to complete." Like that, the alchemist tolled herself to the Batmobile, leaving a shocked Tyler behind.
"She's right. We'll deal with this later," Batman agreed as he made his way to his vehicle.
Tyler stood there for a couple seconds, still a little taken back by what he saw. Seeing Dorothea cry like that. He never thought he would ever see her do something like that so freely. However, he shook that thought out. The three of them still had a job to do and he needed to stay focused. So Tyler walked towards the Batmobile and helped out move everything into the vehicle.
Back with Superman, he was currently in the depths of the sea, laying on the floor.
Twelve thousand feet below the ocean waters. He laid there for a good minute now before he regained consciousness. Seeing where he was, Clark immediately flew out of the deep water and into the open skies in a microsecond. Spooking a nearby crew on their ship, seeing a large pillar of water before it descended back into the sea. Superman floated in the air, filling his lungs with air before refocusing on his task. He used his super hearing to pinpoint where Doomsday was. Once he found it, the Man of Steel flew to the monster's current location in less than a second, landing in the forest.
As expected, Superman was now face to face with Doomsday once more. And even more expected, the Ultimate had killed while Clark was gone. There were dead bodies of danger beasts around the monster. Blood painted the wildlife and on itself. And in Doomsday's hand was a wolf danger beast as it's head was crushed into a pulp. Seeing that the Man of Steel is here, the Walking War Machine throws the wolf corpse, readying itself for something.
Superman raised his fists up as he was expecting Doomsday to fight. But instead, the Ultimate stood there as it opened its mouth. And like that, the monster let out a massive roar into the area. Not only was it loud, but there was an echoing effect within it. The roar spread out for meters on end, even reaching out the borderline of the Great Valley. Despite this, Superman was confused by this sudden action. The roar was loud but it was barely hurting him. In fact, it was obvious that the roar wasn't meant to be an attack.
'What's Doomsday planning? Doing something like that,' Superman thought to himself. But he barely had any time to think about it as Doomsday charged at him like an enraged bull.
Seeing this, Superman defended himself as Doomsday punched him. Despite the force, the Man of Steel pushed back the beast before he lay a flurry of punches at the beast. But the Ultimate fought back as it grabbed Clark's arm and slammed him to the ground like a ragdoll. Doing it two more times before the beast threw the hero at a cliffside, breaking the sound barrier.
Crashing into the cliffside, causing it to crumble as multiple rocks fell, Superman managed to recover himself from the pain. Just in time as he saw a torrent of fire heading towards his location. Clark flew into the air to avoid the attack as it engulfed the crumpling cliffside. As the Man of Steel was in the air, he saw Doomsday jumping towards him. Superman was quick to react as he not only avoided the claws that were aiming at his head, but grabbed onto Doomsday's wrist. With that, the hero threw Doomsday back down to earth. But the monster retaliated quickly as it shot it's retractable bone claws at Superman. The claws hit their mark as they stabbed into Clark's arm. Landing on the ground perfectly, the Walking War Machine began to pull the Man of Steel to it as it pulled on the bone like rope like a fisherman reeling in his prize fish.
However, like a fish, Superman fought back as he held onto the retractable bone claws with his other arm. Then immediately began to spin himself like a top, creating a massive red and blue tornado in seconds. A tornado so intense that it tore about the landscape around them. Extinguishing the flames, picking up large debris and going inside it, and blowing away anything else. Doomsday tried to hold on, anchoring itself to prevent being pulled into the tornado. But it was all in vain as the Ultimate was pulled inside the whirling winds. Once inside, the monster was bombarded by multiple debris hitting at dangerous speeds. This kept up until the retractable bone claws broke. Now free, Superman used this opportunity to fly towards the monster and tackle it, sending it flying out of the tornado and into another area.
Once the tornado disappeared, Superman looked at the area Doomsday was in. He saw the monster stand up from the crater it was in. Despite the damage it was dealt with, the Ultimate looked fine. Only showing discomfort as if it had a few sore spots on it. The monster looked up to the hero as it stared at him with hatred. The kind that grew over the many years after each encounter it had with the Man of Steel. How he always stopped it and denied it's right to kill. The beast continued to look at the superhero for a good fifteen seconds before it finally decided to act. It's eye glowed as the creature was ready to use its heat vision. Seeing this, Clark was ready to intercept Doomsday with his own heat vision.
But then something unexpected happened.
As Superman was charging up his attack, a swarm of large flying, bird-like danger beasts flew at him. Surrounding and biting at the Man of Steel. While the attacks did nothing to Clark, it was annoying him as he tried to get these bat danger beasts off him. This unfortunately led him wide open as Doomsday fired its heat vision, hitting Superman directly and killing any of the bats that got hit as well. The attack blasted the Man of Steel, sending him crashing back to the ground below.
Groaning in pain, Superman slowly got himself back onto his knees. Hissing as the burning wound on his shoulder. 'W-What just happened? Where did those bats come from?' Clark thought to himself, wondering why those creatures suddenly attacked him.
As he got back on his feet, Superman was greeted with an unsettling sight. Up in the sky was a smarmy of flying danger beasts. All of various shapes, sizes, and species. Many were large insects, birds, bats, manta, griffins, wyvern, and dragons. Some as small as a lion to many as big as a warship.
"Where did they come from?" Superman uttered by the sight.
As he said that, Doomsday let out an echoing roar into the air. The flying danger beasts reacted to the roar in an odd way, as if it was a command of some kind. With that, the danger beasts flew down at Superman with their teeth and claws out while the rest blasted away with their own ranged attacks at the hero. Acting quickly, the Man of Steel flew off to avoid the range attacks while evading and killing the danger beasts that charged at him. He was doing good so far until Doomsday blasted him again with its heat vision. Yelling in pain, Clark was left wide open as a wyvern slashed at him then a dragon shot the hero with its fire breath.
As Superman was falling to the ground below, he was trying to process all this. 'How did this happen? Why did these creatures appear out of nowhere? What called them here?' Then, the realization hit him as he recalled something from the past.
Superman remembered how Doomsday let out an echoing roar in that forest. Then how the monster did it again and the danger beasts reacted to it, attacking him afterwards. 'That roar… Is that what's causing this? Is Doomsday controlling them?' he thought to himself.
As he regained his composure and stopped himself from falling, Superman saw that even more flying danger beasts surround him. Many of them charged at him along with Doomsday as it was jumping towards the Man of Steel. 'This isn't good. If I don't think of something quick, I'm doomed,' Clark thought to himself in horror as Doomsday and it's army drew closer to him.
Great Valley, Open Area
In the Great Valley, we focus on a small, flat open area as it was near the edge of a cliff. Having a great view of the entire valley and Empire in the far distance. It all seemed quiet until the roaring engines were heard. On cue, the Batmobile drove into the area and came into an immediate stop. Once parked, Batman was quick to get out as he pressed some button on his arm to let Dorothea and Tyler out.
Once those two were out, they all began to take out all the tech and equipment out of the Batmobile. "Alright, I'm going to begin to set everything up. Dorothea, you mix up the chemicals into this compound you see here," Batman said as he showed the alchemist the compound on the screen on his wrist.
"Got it. I'll start immediately," Dorothea responded as she grabbed the bottles of chemicals, mixing and measuring them with extreme care.
"Tyler, I'll need your help to set everything up. Make sure you follow my instructions," the Dark Knight explained to the Spectator teigu user.
"Sure thing," Tyler replied..
"Good, now bring me that large metal box near you," Bruce told him and Tyler did just that. Taking out the Quantum Teleporter and Shambhala, Batman got to work to combine them together.
'Hang on there, Clark. We're nearly done with our part of the plan,' Batman thought to himself as he brought his tools and got to work.
Safe Zone
Back at the canyon, Twiggs was taking control as he commanded all his soldiers of the Revolutionary Army to take positions and ready their remaining weapons. The Imperial Army did the same as they provided their own weapons for this battle.
"Are the cannons set up?!" Twiggs asked one of the soldiers.
"We're all good here. We got ammo and they're ready to go!"
"Good then!"
Twiggs walked through the area to check out everything else. The soldiers seemed to be battle ready. Their melee weapon in good condition and the guns were locked and loaded. "Alright, everything seems to be good. This might not be much but it's better than nothing," the general uttered to himself.
As he continued to survey the area, Twiggs accidently bumped into someone. He regained his senses to see who it was and to his delight, it was Chelsea as she was carrying a pouch.
"Chelsea, I apologize about that. Are you alright?" Twiggs asked.
"Oh, General Twiggs. Don't worry I'm fine," Chelsea replied heartily.
"Good to hear. What brings you out here? I thought you were looking after Tatsumi," the general asked in a playful manner.
Chelsea giggled a little before she answered. "I was just getting some water for Tatsumi. He woke up earlier and he seems to be fine. Although he's sleeping again, I thought I would get him some water just in case."
"That's good to hear. Glad that he's doing well," Twiggs complimented. "And I'm glad he has someone like you taking care of him."
"Thanks, but I'm doing what anyone else would for someone they care for. I just wish that all of this is over with," Chelsea expressed.
"I agree with that," Twiggs sighed. "It's been a crazy day. I knew one day the corrupted government would be destroyed. But didn't think the responsible would be a monster of all things."
Chelsea chuckled. "Yeah, I don't think anyone could predict this. All the suffering and death was stopped thanks to Doomsday. And what does it bring to us, even more suffering and death," she joked.
While Twiggs did laugh as her joke, he placed his hand on her shoulder, comforting her. "Chelsea, I know things have been tough. And how hard it's been for you and Tatsumi. Like any of us, you lost people you loved."
Chelsea let her emotions out as she had a sadden smile, one hand clenching into fist while the other clenched onto the water pouch. "I… I'm so tired of this... I hate it… I just want all of this end."
"I know. I want this to end as well. But in order to do that, we need to take action. That's why we have to continue on and fight. For not only to survive, but to avenge those that died against that thing," Twiggs expressed, showing determination to rid their world of that monster.
Chelsea took a deep breath before he replied back. "I know. As long as we're alive, we can still do what needs to be done. And while I can't do anything, I'll do what needs to be done here."
"Exactly," Twiggs agreed.
"So I'll be checking around to see what I can do. After I recheck on Tatsumi," Chelsea said cheerfully. "Also, if you ever need to help out with Doomsday, make sure you get a good shot at it. Just to annoy it.
Twiggs chuckled at her request. "If I ever get the chance, I'll be sure to do that."
As the general finished his sentence, something unexpected happened. The sound of something moving was heard, breaking the sound barrier with ease. It got louder and louder until…
BAM!
The sound spooked everyone in the Safe Zone. Suprise by this, Twiggs shouted, "What the hell was that?!"
He faced one of his nearby soldiers. "I need to know what's happening right now!"
The soldier did as he commanded and ran to find out the cause of the sound.
"What do you think happened?" Chelsea asked.
"I don't know but I doubt it's anything good," the general replied, preparing for the worst. In a matter of seconds, the soldier returned to deliver a report.
"Sir, our scouts found a crater in the valley a good kilometers near us. And a few of them confirmed that Superman is in there."
"Superman? It seems that Doomsday really is giving him a challenge," Twiggs commented.
"But that's not even the worse part! They even confirmed that multiple flying danger beasts are heading our way!" the soldier informed.
Both Chelsea and Twiggs looked at the soldier with their face of horror. The lollipop girl face began to pale, scared by what she heard. The general looked frightened, hoping that this was some kind of sick joke.
"Are you positive about that?" Twiggs uttered.
"Sir, we are very positive. They even confirmed that there are hundreds. Maybe even thousands of them heading our way. All ranging from D class to Ultra class danger beasts."
Twiggs gritted his teeth, feeling frustration from hearing this. "God damn it. Why is this happening now," he muttered in anger before he looked back to his soldier. "I want everyone in positions! I want everyone to be ready for what we're about to face!"
"Sir yes sir!"
With that, the soldier ran off to join the others. Every one of them picked up their weapons, put on their armor, and got into position for the fight of their lives.
"I'm going on ahead of my team, you make sure everyone here is somewhere safe and away from the sight of the danger beasts," Twiggs ordered Chelsea as he ran off.
"I will. And be careful out there!" Chelsea shouted as she ran off.
Twiggs ran to his position as he grabbed a sword and rifle. 'I don't why these danger beasts are here, but it doesn't matter at this point. What matters now is to fight them off. Protect the innocent no matter what.'
Back with Batman, Dorothea, and Tyler, things were going smoothly on their part. The machine they were creating was nearly done and Dorothea was close to finishing her compound chemical. But as they were working…
BAM!
The sound and a sudden object crashing near them in the valley spooked them. Dorothea nearly dropped the bottle of chemicals in her hands, but managed to grip them before that could happen. Calming themselves, the three of them looked at the site, dust rising into the air as there was crater within.
"What the hell just happened?" Tyler spoke up, still in shock.
Wondering as well, Batman pulled out binoculars from his utility belt. He placed them over his eyes to see what had occurred. As the dust began to clear up, the Dark Knight was shocked to see that it was Superman within the crater. Slowly getting up as he was clearly in pain.
"It's Superman…" Batman said.
"Superman? Why did he crash like that?" Dorothea wondered, still remaining her focus on the chemical mixing.
"That's what I want to know," the Caped Crusader said as he looked around, trying to find Doomsday. He kept looking until he spotted something that made his eyes widen.
"Dorothea, how's your progress with the compound?" he asked.
"Nearly done, just need like around a minute more, why?" the alchemist replied, still at perfect focus.
"Because we're going to it as soon as it's ready," Batman said as he got back to working on the machine. "We got company."
"Doomsday's coming, isn't it?" Tyler asked, beginning to sweat in fear.
"Of course," Bruce replied. "And the thing is bringing company."
Inside the crater, Superman was slowly getting himself back up. Pushing through the pain as he began to fly up into the air. Breathing heavily, the Man of Steel looked forward to seeing an irritating yet fearful sight. The swarm of flying danger beasts flew towards him with a murderous aura around them. And down below, he saw Doomsday as it was running at beyond mach speeds, it's sights on him.
"Come on, Clark. You can do this. You need to keep stalling until Batman has done his part," Superman uttered to himself, hyping himself up. Encouraging himself, the Man of Steel managed to push past his pain and flew at the flying danger beast army.
Flying at astonishing speeds, Superman unleashed his heat vision onto the swarm. Burning and slicing apart the danger beasts with ease. Though many have dodged the attack and flew up close to the Man of Steel. But he saw this coming. The hero switched to his super breath and froze many of them inside the ice. Letting them fall to the ground below and shatter. Though as he was preoccupied with the flying danger beasts, Doomsday took this opportunity to fire its bone projectiles at the superhero as they were coated with electricity.
Clark saw this and immediately flew around to avoid the bone projectiles. Even using some nearby danger beasts at cover, allowing them to be hit instead. But because of this, the other flying danger beasts unleashed their own long ranged attacks at him. Superman was forced to take evasive maneuvers. Nearly getting hit by Doomsday's attack or cornered by the danger beasts attacks. He was unable to counter strike as he was being bombarded in every direction.
He tried his best to fight back, even managing to punch away a couple small danger beasts, but it was inevitable. Superman was struck by a laser blast by one of the flying danger beasts. While it didn't hurt him, the attack detracted the hero long enough for Doomsday to fire its heat vision behind Clark's back. He screamed in pain as he felt his back heat up and burn. With no time, the other flying danger beasts surrounded the Man of Steel, slashing and biting at him with no mercy. As that happened, the Ultimate used it's fire breath and unleashed it upon its enemy.
The flames hit its target and Superman along the flying danger beasts were within the burning inferno. Clark groaned at the amount of agony he was enduring. Burning then any known flame in the universe, the Man of Steel felt himself slowly losing more of his stamina. Though this situation did bring a benefit for the hero. While he was able to endure the flame, the danger beasts were not the expedition. They were easily incinerated with ease with even their ashes burning up as well. Leaving nothing behind of their existence. With them gone, Superman was able to push himself and fly out of the flames.
While he was glad that he was out from the fire, Superman felt exhausted. His throat was dry and his body was heating up. He was even having a hard time thinking as well. Because of this, Clark slowed down, leaving himself wide open for more flying danger beasts to swarm him from behind.
However, luck was on Superman's side as cannonballs flew through the air, hitting the danger beast swarm. Cannonballs exploding, launching pieces of metal everywhere, shredding the danger beast with ease. This knocked back to his senses, taken back by the sudden event that happened. Before he could think about what had occurred, someone called out to him.
"Superman!"
Using his super hearing, the Man of Steel looked to a cliffside, near the Safe Zone, and was met with a surprise. On the top were the Revolutionary and Imperial Army, all together with their cannons and other weaponry. And in front of them was General Twiggs, looking at the hero with a smile.
"Looks like you need some help! Lucky for you, we got your back!" he shouted.
Superman smiled back at the general, happy to get some much needed backup. Though he didn't get any time to thank them as more flying danger beasts appeared. However, the soldiers were prepared for them as they had their cannons already reloaded.
"Fire!!!" Twiggs yelled.
At his command, the soldiers fired the cannons and blasted away even more danger beasts out of the sky. Using this opportunity, Superman flew to a nearby lake to douse himself in cold water, as well as get a drink. Once he was refreshed and cooled down, the Man of Steel flew back in a matter of five seconds. He then got back into action and fired his heat vision to take down more flying danger beasts. Once he did that, Superman paid his attention to Doomsday, who was looking at him with anger in its eyes. With the remaining soldiers dealing with the other Danger Beasts, Clark could now focus his attention onto the monster and the bigger danger beasts. So the hero flew towards as the Ultimate jumped at him. Eye locked at each other as they both delivered a punch, fists colliding with one another, creating a massive shockwave as a result.
Back with Batman, he and Tyler were able to finally finish the machine. The machine being the Quantum Teleporter on a tripod as it was connected to a strange looking generator. A generator that had Shambhala inside.
"We're done. Now all we need is the compound chemical," Batman said as he turned to Dorothea. "Is it ready?"
The alchemist smiled as she presented a large bottle of a purple chemical. "Ready for use."
Taking the compound out from her hands, Batman injected the chemical into the machine. Injecting it inside a tube like compartment. With that done, the Dark Knight grabbed another set of cables and inserted them into the machine.
"So Batman, care to explain what this is?" Dorothea asked, trying her best to hold back her excitement.
"This is pretty much an engine. Though of a different type compared to the one in my Batmobile. This is the strongest one I can build with the equipment available. This will provide more energy to the Quantum Teleporter so that it can open to our desired destination," Batman explained.
"I see, I see," the alchemist said, looking as calm as possible. With her drooling mouth betraying her act.
"Um… yeah…" Tyler uttered, weirded out by Dorothea's mood. "Do you know how long it'll take until your teleporter to activate and whatnot?"
"By my calculations, it'll take around fifteen minutes for it to fully charge and be ready for activation," Batman answered as he opened a compartment in the Batmobile, revealing the engine. "Now it needs another power source to get it started."
"And how do we do that?" Tyler asked.
Batman answered his question as he started up the Batmobile by remote control, the engine coming to life. Surging electricity into the machine. With power within it, the engine activated and began to charge up the Quantum Teleporter.
"Ooooo…" Dorothea uttered, eyes sparkling and her excitement skyrocketing, acting like a child. "Such a simple way to start a machine yet efficient nonetheless. Future technology is truly amazing."
"It truly is. But what do we do now?" Tyler asked.
"For now, we wait. And prepare ourselves in case something unexpected happens," Batman replied as he looked at the screen on his wrist.
"What are you doing?" Dorothea asked, curious about the piece of tech on his wrist.
"Checking if I have a signal now," the Dark Knight answered as he pressed a couple buttons.
"Signals? What do you mean by that?" the alchemist asked.
"The machine we build not only acts as an energy source for the Quantum Teleporter, it also emits electromagnetic signals called radio waves. This is used to create a more efficient way of communication. With my own tech and power source, the signals should be strong enough for me to contact my allies in my dimension," the Caped Crusader answered.
"A new and more efficient form of communication? I'm learning so much right now," Dorothea said as she was in her own world, eyes sparkling as she was feeling so much excitement. "I could try and replicate this. Be the first to create this new kind of communication in our world. The amount of praise I would get from that."
As Dororthea was squealing to herself, Batman continued to change the frequency of his device. He kept on charging the settings to find what he was looking for. Until Bruce found it. Linking to it, the Dark Knight made a call to the station. After a couple of seconds, the call was connected and the screen showed someone. An old man with a small pointed mustache, was bald on top of his head with the side of it having grey hair, and wore a butler uniform.
"Batman? Is that you?" he asked in shock.
"It's me, Alfred. I'm in the dimension where Doomsday is," Batman replied.
"Ah, very good, master. I'm glad you made it there unharmed," Alfred said in relief.
As Batman and Alfred had their greetings, the butler was met with Tyler and Dorothea, who were looking at him with shock and awe. "It seems that you have made some new friends, master," Alfred exclaimed.
"They're the habitats of this dimension, providing help for our plan," Batman explained.
"And how is your plan going so far?" Alfred asked.
"A few complications. But nothing too major. The Quantum Teleporter is currently being charged up for the final phase," Bruce told his butler.
"Holy shit, he wasn't kidding when he said that this is a more efficient way of communication," Tyler commented, flabbergasted by what he was witnessing with his own eyes.
"My god, this is like a holy grail of technology. And to think it can get better from this," Dorothea said with so much enthusiasm in her voice. "I'm so fucking happy that I'm here to witness this."
"Is she alright?" Alfred asked with concern.
"Don't mind her, she's just having a field day from seeing this kind of technology. She's into stuff like this," Tyler explained. "Though I don't blame her for acting this way. I'm just as amazed by what your world has made compared to ours. We have to use scouts and hawks for far away communication."
"I see. Well, I'm sure your society will eventually advance your technology at that level soon enough," Alfred expressed before turning back to Batman. "Now Sir, what can I do for you?"
"I need to know the progress of Project Juggernaut," Batman told him.
"Ah yes. Thanks to Cyborg, the project is near completion. But it will take about nine to ten minutes to be finished and be ready for transport," Alfred explained.
"Good. When it's done, send the project to my location immediately," Batman instructed.
"As you wish," Alfred said as Batman ended the call.
"While I want to ask you more about how that worked, I want to really know about this Project Juggernaut," Dorothea questioned.
"It's something I build if I ever have to face extreme level threats like Doomsday. I won't say what it is. After all, you seem very invested with my technology. So I think I'll keep it a secret," Batman explained, ending it with a smirk on his face.
While Dorothea was shocked to see the Dark Knight smirk, she began to pout at him. She didn't like him keeping a secret like this under her wraps. But if there was one thing she learned with her years as an alchemist, it was patience. So she crossed her arms and begrudgingly said, "Fine, I'll wait."
Back with Superman, things were looking good so far. The Man of Steel was dealing with larger Danger Beasts and Doomsday. While the soldiers took care of the rest of the danger beast army. The hero slicing danger beast up with his heat vision or freezing them with his super breath. As well as keeping the Walking War Machine occupied on him and only him. With the soldiers, they continued to rain the sky with sparks and metal. Killing any danger beast in their sights. Those that got close were dealt with by other soldiers with their melee weapons and guns.
As this was going on, a cart filled with people from another village were passing by from the bottom of the cliffside. Knowing this, Twiggs orders a group of soldiers to protect them as they try to get to the Safe Zone.
As Superman freezes a danger beast to ice and shatters it, he quickly evades a punch from Doomsday before delivering his own. Punching the beast back, Clark tackled the monster as he pushed it through debris and other danger beasts in their way. Before the Ultimate could retaliate, spinner like a top and threw the creature into a mountain, destroying it. But he wasn't done, Superman flew to another nearby mountain. Digging underground until he was sure he was underneath the summit, the Man of Steel got a good grip and then lifted the mountain from the ground and into the sky. Once in a high enough altitude, Clark proceeded to move the mountain down towards his target. Doomsday popped out from rocky debris as it roared in anger. The monster was about to make its move to attack the hero. But was met with a massive mountain, mere inches close to its face.
As the mountain was slammed upon the Doomsday, the result created a massive shockwave of dirt. Pushing away debris and anything else with its radius. The shockwaves even managed to reach the soldiers and they were forced to brace themselves. They were lucky the disaster happened a great kilometers away from them as the shockwave they endured was only as powerful as a strong gust of wind. Even the flying danger beasts were forced to the ground by the shockwave.
What felt like a minute, actually being a couple seconds, the shockwave came to end. The soldiers stood up and looked at the sight. It was completely devastated and the landscape was cracked. Large pieces of rock were littered everywhere. And the wildlife was destroyed, crushed into green paste. While this was a devastating sight, the soldiers were more in shock by the crazy strength Superman displayed in front of them. He did something that not even Esdeath or Budo could do in their lives. It was truly a spectacle of a feat.
"My God… now that's something you only see once in a lifetime," Twiggs commented quietly. "They don't call him Superman for nothing."
Back with the other three, Batman, Dorothea, and Tyler witnessed the feat of strength Superman displayed. While Batman was neutral, Dorothea and Tyler were flabbergasted by the entire thing. Their mouths were opened and their eyes widened.
"Holy shit… that was insane…" Tyler uttered.
"I know… I never knew he was that strong…" Dorothea replied before she turned to Batman. "Why aren't you surprised by this?"
The Caped Crusader looked at her and simply said, "I've seen crazier."
Back at the sight, Superman flew out from the massive dust cloud and into the air. He looked down to examine the situation and nodded to himself. "That should keep Doomsday out for a while."
With that, the Man of Steel flew back to the others to aid them with the other danger beasts. When he was close to the battlefield, Superman's super hearing picked up something. He stopped to fully embrace the sound and figure out what it was. It sounded like rambling of some kind. He traced the sound to be coming from the ground. More precisely, coming from underground. It was like a large noise was being made, big enough to shake the earth. It could even swear that he heard echoing as well.
Before he could do anything, Superman was taken back by a sudden arm appearing out from the ground. Then multiple arms came out. Digging into the surface Clark was met with multiple danger beasts coming out from the ground, having a look signified that they were underground creatures. All varying from moles, reptiles, spiders, worms, rats, and other creatures. There was even a giant, rainbow scaled snake, larger than the great wall of china, that came out as it let out a hissing roar. Bearing its fangs and venom out for all to see.
If that wasn't insane enough, Superman spotted a familiar sight in the body of the giant snake. Doomsday held on the danger beast's body as it continued to let out its echoing roar into the area around them. As the monster continued to do this, Clark looked around the area and saw that more danger beasts were appearing from the land. From jungles, to forests, and from caves came even more danger beasts. Many of them resemble lions, tigers, bears, wolves, apes, chimeras, human-like creatures, and dinosaur-like monsters.
They all let out a roar of fury as they all ran through the Great Valley, heading towards the Safe Zone.
"Oh no…" Superman uttered in horror as he quickly flew back to the Safe Zone.
Back at the Safe Zone, Twiggs and his soldiers were startled by the sudden echoing roar that was being made. Many of them wondered what was happening and who was making that noise. Their curiosity stopped as one of them saw something.
"General! Multiple danger beasts are heading our way!"
"What?!" Twiggs shouted as he pulled out binoculars and looked at where the soldier pointed at. He felt his heart drop for a moment from what he was seeing. A danger beast was heading their way, running nonstop to get to their location. Bloodlust in their eyes and movement.
"Dear god… there's like a thousand of them now. Maybe even tens of thousands of danger beasts of different species…" one soldier uttered.
"General, what do we do?" another soldier asked Twiggs.
Twiggs remained silent as he was still in shock by all this. All he could manage to say was, "We pray…"
Back with Batman, Dorothea, and Tyler, they were also confused by the sudden echoing roar. Their questions would be answered as multiple danger beasts dug up from the ground or cliffside near them. Many of them spotted the three and let out their own roar to alert the others. Like that, the danger beasts moved towards their prey.
"Fucking hell, there's so many of them. Why are they here?" Tyler wondered in fright.
"Worry about that later. Right now, focus on fighting!" Batman shouted as he pulled out his electric charge gun and threw it to Dorothea. "I set it at full charge. Aim for their vital spots to kill."
"Okay, simple enough," Dorothea uttered as she readied herself as Tyler let his arm blades out.
Batman then quickly pressed a button and yelled, "Batmobile, battle mode! Lethal force is allowed!"
On command, the Batmoble transformed and turned into a battle tank, letting out its cannon and machine gun. With that, Batman slammed his fists together to activate his shock gloves.
"Remember, defend the Quantum Teleporter, the engine, and the Batmobile at all cost!" Batman shouted.
"Yes sir!"
"You got it!"
Batman cracked his knives and neck before saying, "Then engage."
Inside the Safe Zone, the civilians were currently hiding in their tents as they waited for their madness to end. Though it looked like it wasn't going to end soon as the roars and cries of the danger beast army. Many of them could barely calm themselves as they feared for what would happen to them. When it will take them to break through their defenses and maul them to death.
With Chelsea, she went back to Tatsumi, still sleeping, after helping hide everyone else. She was currently holding onto his hand, rubbing it. Trying to calm herself as best as possible. Yet like the others, she was starting to become afraid of the outcome that will happen to them. Especially to her and Tatsumi. She couldn't bring herself to think about what would happen to him if the danger beasts, especially Doomsday, would do to him. Chelsea wanted to do something to stop this madness, but she knew it was beyond her power to do so.
So the lollipop girl looked up at the roof of the tent as she uttered to herself and said, "Please Superman, you have to save us. You're our only hope."
Back with the soldiers, things weren't looking good. The soldier army became overwhelmed with the amount of danger beasts they were running towards them. No matter how many they shot down with their cannons and guns, the numbers didn't lower. By the time they killed about twenty danger beasts, thirty more would come and replace them. It was becoming overwhelming for the soldiers to deal with.
"We need more cannonballs here!"
"We don't have anymore!"
"Shit, I need to reload!"
Like his men, Twiggs was feeling overpowered. Even with his skills as a warrior, he felt that he was barely doing anything to change the tides. He could even see that his soldiers around him were in the same situation. Even when he felt that all hope was lost, his body forced itself to continue fighting. He was very much glad about that. After all, if he does here, then he'll die like a general he was.
As expected, the danger beasts were getting the upper hand as they managed to kill a few soldiers. The flying danger beasts were even able to get onto the cannons and destroy them. Tearing them apart along with any soldier that tried to stop them.
"Shit! They destroyed our cannons!"
"Damn it, we're fucked!"
"What are we going to do?!"
"What we were trained for!" Twiggs shouted as he picked up another sword. "We continue to fight till the very end! If we die, we die protecting our home!"
Despite the despair that filled within their souls, the soldiers let out their own battle cry. Equipping their own weapons in their hands they were ready to fight for their lives. So with that, they all charged at the danger beasts that were approaching them, with Twiggs leading the charge.
Back with Superman, he was flying back to the Safe Zone to help them. Though it was difficult for him to get there as multiple flying danger beasts continue to attack him. Forcing him to attack them before he could progress. He would eventually make it back to the Safe Zone and saw that the soldiers were being overwhelmed. Seeing this, Clark flew there at his top speeds to aid them. However, he was stopped as Doomsday appeared above him, kicking the hero with both its feet and forcing him to the ground.
The Man of Steel crashed into the ground as he groaned in pain. He tried to get back, however, the Walking War Machine came crashing down on Clark, crushing him. Superman barely had any time to scream in agony as Doomsday laid a haymaker of punches onto him. The Ultimate didn't let up, making each punch was harder than the last, as it was very much enjoying this. However, Clark had enough as he used all his focus and power to blast the monster, in the face, with an even more powerful heat vision. Screaming with all his might, the Man of Steel's attack was successful as it managed to blast Doomsday off him, crashing somewhere else away from him.
Superman got himself to get up onto his feet, but the amount of power he put on his heat vision hurt his eyes. They were stinging like crazy, like he needed to scratch them. It was because of this that left him wide open for a gorilla danger beast to tackle him. Holding the hero down, more danger beasts came in and dogpile Clark as they went all out on him.
Back with Batman, things weren't looking good. Bruce was constantly throwing his explosives and using long range options. Due to the now overwhelming amount of danger beasts, it was no longer safe to fight them up close. But it was only a matter of time before his weaponry would run out.
Tyler was only doing slightly better as his teigu was helping him predict the danger beasts and who to attack first. But the more that came, the more useless Spectator was becoming. He was even starting to back away as the horde of danger beasts were advancing further towards them.
Dorothea was doing all she could with the weapon she was provided. But for every danger beast she killed, more would take their place. Even the Batmobile was barely helping anymore as groups of them just kept on coming. Eventually, Batman and Tyler were pushed back with Dorothea and they were now surrounded.
"Well shit! Looks like this may be the end!" Tyler shouted as he sliced up three danger beasts that tried jumping him.
"Seems so!" Dorothea shouted back as she another round. "Listen, if we don't make it out of this, I just want to say that it was an honor to fight and work with you guys! All of this was actually fun to do!"
"Yeah, I can agree to that!" Tyler replied. "You were a pain in the ass to deal with. But you're alright!"
"Thanks!" Dorothea responded with a smile.
Hearing that, Batman began to laugh to himself at the situation of it all. "Hm, I am always in this kind of position. Where there's no way out, no plan I can come up to change the odds, where I'm guaranteed that I will die. Yet I manage to escape death more times than I can count. Let's see if this is where I meet my end."
With that said, a swarm of danger beasts jumped into the air and went down toward the there. However, Batman, Dorothea, and Tyler stood their ground, ready for whatever would happen to them. They let out their own battle cry as they unleashed their own attack as the danger beasts dogpile them.
As Superman flexed his muscles, pushing the danger beasts off him with his shockwave, Clark was horrified by what he is currently seeing. A swarm of danger beasts were currently jumping Batman and his teammates, ready to tear them apart.
"NO!!!" he shouted as the hero quickly took flight to save his friend. But Doomsday put a stop to this as it grabbed Clark's cape and threw him in the opposite direction. When Superman tried to fight back, more danger beasts swarmed him like flies. The Man of Steel barely had time to get these creatures off him as the Ultimate got up close to him. Delivering an electric punch to his cranium, the monster launched the superhero a good distance back, crashing into the ground, dazing him for a good while.
With Superman down, Doomsday let out a roar and commanded a giant bipedal, reptilian, danger beast to attack. Both of them began to charge up their respected attack. Then the reptilian danger beast fired off it's laser beam at the carriage. At the same time, Doomsday unleashes its fire breath at the Safe Zone. The people could do nothing as they were burned alive by the ocean of fire or incinerated by the laser beam.
Once they hit their mark, Doomsday and the reptilian danger beast let out a roar, signaling their accomplishments.
After that, there was only silence.
Back with Superman, he was laying on the rough ground. Confused on why it was silent all of a sudden. Even more so afraid of the answer. He slowly picked his head up to see what had occurred. And what he saw nearly broke his soul.
The Safe Zone was engulfed by a massive fire and there was no one to be seen. The soldiers, the citizens, Batman and his comrades, no one. All he saw were danger beasts, all howling in victory or eating the remains of one of the dead soldiers they obtained. At that moment, the Man of Steel knew that he had failed.
Superman laid his head back on the ground as he absorbed everything that just happened at this moment. The carriage that was heading to the Safe Zone was destroyed by a laser beam from a large danger beast, Batman, Dorothea, and Tyler were slaughtered by a horde of other danger beasts, Twiggs and his soldiers that tried to help him were killed by some flying danger beasts, and Doomsday had just unleashed a wildfire that burned everyone within the Safe Zone. At that moment, Clark Kent knew that he had failed his duty to protect those people from Doomsday. Overwhelmed by the Ultimate's mind-controlled danger beast army. He felt so much despair growing inside him as his negative emotions consumed him as he stared at the dirt. Hoping that the people he failed to protect would forgive him.
"BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Superman looked back up as he was met with an unholy site. He saw Doomsday, looking at him with its red, angry eyes, as a large army of danger beasts were behind it. They all looked at the Man of Steel with hunger as many wanted a taste of his flesh. Though they would have to wait as their leader, Doomsday would want to be the first to have it's fun with Superman. And kill him in the most brutal and gruesome way possible.
At that moment, Superman was starting to become afraid. He knew that there was no winning this fight. Sure, he could kill the danger beast army with ease. But it wouldn't be a battle with them. It would be him against Doomsday while the danger beasts provide backup. It would only be a matter of time before the Walking War Machine would deliver the killing blow. Which after, the monster would continue on its massacre on this planet as its danger beast army would eat his remains. Clark knew very well that he was going to die here and that there was no hope of coming out of this alive.
Yet still, Clark forced himself to get up to his feet, raising his fists up to fight back against the many rushing towards him. For most common people, this would be seen as ridiculous and suicidal, as pointless to continue, in a fight that no one had a chance at winning. Yet, despite all that, this man was willing to fight back. Doomsday, danger beast army, it didn't matter. He will fight.
It was why he put on the cape.
It was his duty, his reason, his life.
To protect the innocent. To make sure that no harm would come to them and they can live a life without fear. A life of peace and happiness.
Even if he failed to protect these people and his close friend here, the Man of Steel could at least try to do the same for the rest of the population on this planet.
He would rather die, fighting for his beliefs for truth and justice then lay on the ground, in defeat.
He knew it wouldn't be what Bruce would do. What any of his friends would do.
Doomsday let out a small grin, seeing Superman deciding to keep on fighting this one-sided. Though it was sad to see, the Ultimate could at least have some fun and destroy him physically and mentally. With an echoing roar, the Walking War Machine had its danger beast army ready to swarm Superman at its command. The monster grew out its bone claws so it can tear the Man of Steel into bloody pieces.
As Superman stood there, waiting for the battle to begin, he began to look back to his past. How he had to fight Doomsday when he first encountered the monster. How it nearly killed him, putting him into a coma, but managed to survive. It was almost like that in a way. Only this time, Clark knew that the Ultimate now has a chance to kill him.
"I knew this day would come. And even with the many failures in the past, I'm proud of who I've become," Superman said to himself, with a saddened smile. "Even if I'm alone, I'll fight with everything I have."
"You are wrong, Clark."
(Alan Silvestri - Portals (From "Avengers: Endgame"/Audio Only))
Surprised by the sudden voice and a pat on his shoulder, Superman turned to his left to see a familiar sight. Beside him was an old friend. A green-skinned man with red eyes that wore a unique outfit. A blue cape, boots, and underwear. Along with a red cross on his chest along with three gold medals on his shoulders and on his red belt. He looked at Superman with a welcoming smile.
"J'onn?" Clark uttered in shock, surprised and happy to see an old friend beside him.
"You are not alone. Because we are here to help," J'onn J'onzz, aka Martian Manhunter, told him.
"We?"
On cue, J'onn pointed at the sight of where the carriage used to be. Superman was shocked to see that, as the smoke cleared, the carriage and people were alive. And in front of them was another familiar figure. A tall woman with black hair, wearing a golden tiara on her forehead. She wore a red and gold top, blue shorts with white stars on them, silver bracelets, and red and white boots. She also had a sword and shield in her hands along with a golden lasso on her right hip. Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman, had arrived one time to protect these people from the laser blast. Using her shield to block the attack. Wonder Woman looked at Superman with a smile, happy to see that he was okay. Clark smiled back as well.
Back with Batman, he seemed to be just as surprised as Dorothea and Tyler. One moment, they were being swarmed by multiple danger beasts. And then suddenly, they were all launched away from them and killed.
"What the hell?" Dorothea uttered in shock.
"Hey Batman, am I late?"
The Dark Knight, along with Tyler and Dorothea, looked to their right to see someone else. A man with a red mask that covered his entire head except for his mouth and chin. He also wore a red full bodysuit with a few lighting patterns on it. Along with yellow boots, a white circle with a yellow lightning bolt logo on his chest, and two yellow tiny wings on his head. He was sitting on a dead danger beast, waving at Batman with a cheerful smile.
"On the contrary, Flash, you're right on time," Batman said jokingly, letting out a smirk.
Wally West chuckled at the Caped Crusader's joke as he said, "Good to know."
At the Safe Zone, it was still covered by the large, intense flames. Burning everything and everyone within it. Or so it seemed. The flames were cleared up by a mysterious green light and revealed a giant green energy shield that surrounded the Safe Zone. Everyone there and Chelsea, as they were coming out from hiding, looked in shock by the sudden appearance of this green shield that protected them from being burned alive. As they wondered how this happened, everyone spotted someone as they descended from the sky.
That someone was a man with brown hair with a green mask to cover his eyes, making his pupils and iris completely white. He wore a green and black bodysuit with white gloves, green boots, and a white circle and lantern shape logo on his chest. Green Lantern, also known as Hal Jordan, descended onto the shield as he continued to emit the green construct with his green ring.
On top of the cliffs, Twiggs and his soldiers walked into view, all of them completely fine. And beside them was another figure as he threw a dead danger beast off his shoulders. A man with a golden, hawk theme helmet on his head. Completely shirtless, he wore some armor around the arms and shoulders, brown gloves, and a cross-shaped harness with a red gem in the middle, bearing a black bird symbol on it. He also had green pants with a golden belt and yellow and red boots. Though the most intriguing part about him was the metal mace in his hand, as electricity flowed through it, and the giant, feathered wings. Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, looked at the army of danger beasts as he was ready for a fight.
Back to the Safe Zone, everyone, including Chelsea, was still shocked by the sudden appearance of these costumed figures. As she tried to comprehend the sudden appearances of these costumed figures, Chelsea spotted a boy walking out from the crowd. A young teen boy with black hair as he wore a red long shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers.
"Kid, what are you doing?!" Chelsea called out to him.
The kid turned back to Chelsea with a confident smile on his face as he said, "I'm going to join in and fight."
Looking at him like he was a maniac, Chelsea ran towards him in an attempt to stop the teen from doing something stupid. "Kid, are you craz-"
"SHAZAM!!!"
With that shout, a lightning bolt came from the sky and struck the teen boy, emitting a bright light around him. Waiting for the light to go away, Chelsea opened her eyes from the blinding flash and was met with something unexpected. In front of her stood a tall, muscular man. Looking like an older version of the teen boy from before. His outfit had changed as well as he was wearing a red outfit with a lightning bolt symbol on his chest. He also had a golden belt, bracelets, and boots on him. Along with a white cape. He looked down at the surprise Chelsea as he gave her an amused smirk, jokingly pointing at her.
"Admit it, I got you, didn't I?" Billy Batson, well-known as Shazam, said to her with his joking tone.
Before Chelsea could say anything, the earth shook as something came out from one of the mountains nearby. Erupting like a volcano, gallons of water was shot out and flowed down to the ground below. Essentially creating a large river and a massive lake in a matter of seconds. Then something came out from the waters which were actually multiple aquatic danger beasts. Ranging from mollusks, fish looking creatures, and crustaceans of various sizes. And leading them all was another costumed figure.
A man with long blonde hair and a mustache and beard combo. He wore an aquatic suit that consisted of an orange shirt, green pants, green gloves, and a yellow belt with a unique triangular buckle on it. But the biggest standout with him is his left hand is completely made of water and his right hand held a golden trident. The King of Atlantis, Arthur Curry, better known as Aquaman, stood tall and proud, ready to command his danger beast army for battle.
Superman looked around in shock and happiness at this sight. In the moment of his darkest moment, his allies had come to the rescue. To help him and even the odds. Doomsday, despite not showing it, was very much taken back by the sudden appearance of the other heroes it had encountered and battled in the past. All by Superman's side to defeat it. Despite that, the Ultimate wasn't intimidated by this. In fact, the monster was determined to make sure it would kill all the heroes it had failed to do in the past.
While Superman was still awe-struck by all this, Martian Manhunter brought him back into reality and said, "What are your orders?"
Remembering the situation he was in, the Man of Steel began to communicate with the members of the Justice League. With the help of J'onn as he was able to talk to them all through the martian's telepathy.
"Hawkman and Shazam, I want you two to provide air cover; Lantern, continue to protect the Safe Zone; Flash, find and bring back any civilians out here to the Safe Zone," Superman commanded with authority. "And the rest…"
He looked at the army with a newfound determination and drive before he said, "Engage."
With that, Aquaman let out a war cry, signaling his army to charge. The aquatic danger beasts let out their own roars as they ran towards the other danger beast army. Superman, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter followed suit as they flew alongside their army.
"Looks like that's my cue," Flash said as he ran fast at incredible speeds in an instant.
Seeing his enemies charging in, Doomsday let out a massive roar, prompting its army to rush in its own assault. Both armies ran towards each other, letting out their roars, as they were ready to tear them apart. The two armies ran with all they had as they were getting closer and closer. Until they were only a couple feet close.
Superman and Doomsday were the first to collide as they were engaged in close-quarters combat. Then the rest of the aquatic danger beasts collided with the land danger beasts as they began to fight. Punching, slashing, and blasting at each other. Aquaman slashes away at his opponents with his water coated trident before stabbing a danger beast and electrocuting it. Wonder Woman pummeled the danger beasts with her shield while slicing them to pieces with her sword. Martian Manhunter used his shapeshifting to transform into giant aliens of different species to deal with the more gigantic danger beasts as J'onn, transformed as a dragon-like serpent, bites off the head of a gigantic danger beast.
With Flash, he was casually running past any danger beast that tried to kill him while also taunting them at the same time. "Too slow; almost had me there; better luck next time!" he shouted, enjoying this. Once he had his fill, Wally ran around in a circle to create a red tornado that picked up and blew all the danger beasts around him into the air.
As the danger beasts were thrown into the sky, they were all killed by Hawkman as he smashed them all with his Nth metal mace. Multiple flying danger beasts tried to swarm Carter, but they were stopped as Shazam shot out multiple lightning bolts, striking and killing the monsters with ease. Billy continued to summon a storm of lightning to kill the flying danger beasts as Hawkman and Twigg's squad assisted in the assault, shooting them with their guns.
Other danger beasts tried to get to the Safe Zone and kill everyone there. But the green shield prevented them as they were easily dealt with by Green Lantern's miniguns and missiles. Hal then created fighter jet constructs to take care of any more danger beasts around his area. "Let's light them up!" Hal shouted in excitement, mowing down his opponents with ease.
As the war raged on, Superman and Doomsday are a few meters apart glaring at each other with hatred. Readying themselves for their brawl. Once ready, the hero and monster charged at each other at the same time, colliding their fists together. Creating a massive shockwave that pushed away anything in its way. Showing that the final battle has only just begun.
