Hey guys, Andrew78591, here with the second part of the finale. I know I said the next chapter would be the last. But after seeing just how damn long this finale is going to be just writing it, I decided to split it into parts. But for sure, I will make sure to finish this story no matter what. Anyway, sorry for taking so long to make this. Now let's get to the comments and questions first.
Questions
A hint on what series the SCP Foundation is crossing over with please?
All I'll say is that it's a web show.
What inspired you to create this fanfic?
Very good question. When I starting out with fanfics, I always liked looking up ones were a villain or powerhouse of a character be sent into a new world. Expecting someone cool to be done with it. With the character showing their power to the weaker world, or showing how dangerous they can be. But I always get disappointed because the ones I kept finding, and are repetitive, are the fics were the villains are send to a new world, are usually depowered beyond believe, making them too weak to that they lose way too easily, and for some reason have them becomes good guys and fall in love(it's worse when it's with a villain that makes no sense for them to fall in love like Goku Black.)When I want to see a villain in a fic, I want them to be a villain. That's why I like them, that's why most people like them to begin. They're good at being villains. So forcing them to be good pretty much take away all the fun. So I decided to make my own fics where the villains stay as villains and let them have fun. And Doomsday was the perfect option, that and I like the monster. And after writing a couple chapters up until now, people seem to enjoy this and I'm glad for that. I hope that I'm able to compete this fic sooner than later to give you all a satisfying conclusion.
Superman and Batman couldn't be anymore late ! Batman criticisim is meaningless since they did EVERYTHING they CAN to ensure Doomsday die !
Doomsday living throw that bomb seems to contredit with how it was defeated in the comics before and makes all the past sacrifices and deaths in vain !
I like Dorothea redemption as she released that if she continues that path it is less of a matter of IF and more of When !
I feel the last chapter just comes out of nowhere and ending it at chapter 12 is the best wrap up for this story !
Okay, I'll address this real quick. I get why chapter 12 would have been a good way to end this. And I can see some ideas it. But the thing is, I planned for the Justice League to come for a good while now. So I intended for this to continue like this. And also, Doomsday would not die from the bomb. Like me rephrase that, the monster would die at first, but will eventually come back to life.It is been stated multiple times that Doomsday's powers that whenever it dies, it's adaptability allows it to come back to life, forever immune to whatever killed it in the first place. Hell, that ability is the reason Superman can't kill Doomsday with brute force anymore. No disrespect ok your part, I just wanted to clear that up.
Suggestions
Danganronpa 2 Freddie Krueger
Dragonronpa 3 Pennywise
I thought about it but I decided not to anymore. I mainly want to focus on my Danganronpa X Green Lantern fic and the other ones.
Anyway, Akame Ga Kill X One Piece? (Mihawk vs Night Raid)
Not interested so no.
Shadow of war elements in Akame ga Kill? Like using the nemesis system in the stories to make the experience unique.
Never heard of this game so no.
Also have you ever heard of Kingdom Hearts? Don't want you to do it, just curious if you heard about it. Kankuro versus Lubbock would be interesting to see.
I know what Kingdom Hearts is, but I don't want to get involved into it due to how overcomplicated it is. Maybe a vs battle but no full on fanfic.
I mean as a joke fic as KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE Crossover with Any franchise of your choosing
Been actually interested in doing something withthe Killer Clowns. Maybe a vs battle. That be fun.
from x men house that the mother mold arrives in bnha and starts the nightmare with the sentinels and nimrod or bastion is created
I have no idea who mother mold is so no.
Fanfiction Idea: "Shortly after Esdeath conquers the North and murders the mass population because of the evil deed she has committed and the innocent blood spilled in a particular isolated part of the North a seal is broken and out of it comes out the 10 Commandments from the Seven Deadly Sins who have arrived to annihilate and devour the souls of man and to torment Esdeath and give her a slow painfully agonizing death."
Interesting idea but I have never seen or read Seven Deadly Sins. So I'll say no to this.
Pretty dark idea that can maybe work. But I'm not interested.
Batman and Akame ga kill
After the revolution won she find herself in Gotham City and joins Batman
Not interested in this. So I'm gonna have to decline.
Do you play Honkai Impact the 3rd and Genshin Impact
I have not. I am thinking of using a Genshin Impact character for a vs battle but that's about it.
what if you made the same fanfic but replace doomsday with Ghost Rider how do you think that would be. I believe that would be great seeing all the scum suffer from the Ghost Rider's Hell fire, penance stare, soul devour and/or simply open the gates of hell and literally throw them in Hell know what I mean right.
Said it before and I'll say it again. I will do this idea. When, not sure. But I will get to it as soon as possible.
Okay, with all that out of the way, let's not waste anymore time and start this long awaited chapter of this fanfic.
Aaaaaaaannnnnnnd begin:
Great Valley
The Great Valley, a massive piece of land south east from the Empire. Home to several villages and many known dangerous beasts, people have used this land for fast travel and easier routes to transport their goods. Least that was before the area was reduced to a warzone. Armies of danger beasts from land and sea were fighting to the death between one another. Crushing or slicing each other to pieces, blasting each other with their range attacks, or forcing each other out of the sky to pummel to the ground. And although the battles were bloody, they were no more one-sided, as the danger beast tried to fight the members of the Justice League.
Three ape-like danger beasts ran up towards Wonder Woman to beat her to death. But the Amazon was able to evade their swings with ease as she sliced them to pieces with her sword. Another pack of danger beast charged at her, with a massive serpent danger beast following from behind. Wonder Woman ran to meet them head-on, cutting down each of the ape-like danger beasts in an incredible show of Amazonian strength and speed. While she may have finished them quickly though, it did allow the serpent to catch up to the second pack before she had intended to react. It immediately attempted to swallow her whole. With fast repositioning, the serpent's own momentum is used against itself. Its head and body were sliced in half as Diana held her sword in front of herself, making its face meet the edge of the blade.
"There's too many of them! No matter how many we kill, more take their place!" Wonder Woman shouted as she tossed the serpent's corpse off her and then blocked an attack from a bear danger beast with her shield.
Aquaman not too far away, spinning his trident at speeds that made his weapon look like a blur. Such speed tore apart numerous kinds of insect danger beast that tried to attack him. Without slowing for a moment, he notices that another animal pack of danger beast were heading for him at the corner of his vision. Using his built up momentum, Arthur swung the trident in and down to the floor right on the pack leader's head. The sudden impact releases an electrical sonic boom from the ancient Atlantean that electrocutes everything around him to death. Allowing a small moment for the King of the Sea to breathe.
"As if this has ever stopped us before. They are poultry compared to our might," Aquaman said as he stabbed his trident into a lizard danger beast's head that tried to sneak attack him.
An alien looking rhinoceros is seen charging through the battlefield, ramming and crushing any danger beast in its path. Though a group and wolf and lion looking danger beasts swarmed the rhinoceros, doggy piling it. However, the wolves and lions were pushed off as the rhino had shapeshifted into a giant blue starfish creature that swung down its arms on the creatures, killing them.
'The certain goal of this battle is not to defeat the horde of monsters. But to distract them, keep them away from the villagers while Flash brings them to the Safe Zone,' Martian Manhunter stated telepathy as shapeshifted from a starfish into a giant squid-like creature. Using its massive tentacles to crush the danger beast horde with ease. 'Green Lantern, Shazam, Hawkman, how is the situation between you three?'
Green Lantern was still on top of the green shield as he was firing anti aircraft guns and missiles at the flying danger beasts that tried to get in close. 'So far so good. Just shooting these things down. Kinda fun, like I'm playing an old video game of mine.'
Hawkman swung his mace down onto the crush bat danger beast's head, crushing it into a pulp. While Shazam fired off a wave of lightning, electrocuting the wave of danger beasts to death. While still on the cliffs, the soldiers were firing their guns and cannons at the monster, helping out as much as they could.
Hawkman swung his mace down, crushing a bat danger beast's head to a pulp. "That makes 34 William. Do I need to start throwing some your way?" Behind him is Shazam, providing cover fire to others as best he could, shooting bolts of electricity down and breaking up the larger groups of danger beast on the ground level.
"Stop keeping count, you already won! And I told you, it's just Billy-ah, gross!" A childish shout given by the magical hero, as one of the flying danger beasts tries to attack his face. Using the speed of Mercury, he reacts fast enough to dodge the creature. Allowing for Hawkman to swing his mace at it, and render it a bloody smear on Shazam's suit.
"Make that 35."
"Fire!" Twigs shouted and the cannons were shot, the cannonballs hitting a large danger beast, killing it.
'So far we're fine. These beasts are proving to be very little challenge to us. And these soldiers are very formidable allies. Though their numbers are concerning.' Hawkman telepathically replied back. 'Also, did Hawkgirl come here by any chance? I hate for her to get involved in this.'
'Don't worry man, she stayed behind to help the others,' Shazam reassured his ally. 'Just focus on fighting these monsters and protecting the soldier dudes.'
Martian Manhunter transformed into a massive troll-like monster and used the form to crush the monster underneath his foot and smack any flying danger beasts out of the air.
'We'll continue to do what we have here. By the way, how's Superman doing so far with Doomsday?' Shazam asked Martian Manhunter telepathically.
J'onn looked to see the battle between Superman and Doomsday and it was as expected of the fight. Clark and the Walking War Machine were still having their brawl, throwing punches and kicks at each other, pushing one other down, and slightly gaining the advantage in a few seconds before the other was able to even the odds again. No danger beast dared to come close to the fight as they knew their master would not allow it and they would likely die for getting in the way. This was their battle and no one was to intrude.
'It's going as expected,' J'onn replied as crush more danger beasts underneath his foot. 'What about Wally? Has he gotten everyone to the Safe Zone?'
'He said he would be done in less than a minute,' Wonder Woman replied. 'You think he can do it?'
'This is Wally we're talking about. He should be as simple as falling asleep,' Martian Manhunter said jokingly.
Random Village
In this particular village, things were not looking good. The villagers were previously trying to prepare for travel to a safer location, to wait out the massive war that was currently happening in their valley. As they were about ready to leave with the Revolutionary Army soldiers there to guide them, they were ambushed. The soldiers were killed off by a group of bandits. Like many others, the bandits saw this as a way to do whatever they want with no consequences. After all, morality would be damned with there being an army of danger beasts and their monstrous leader ready to wipe out all life and destroy the planet.
"Hahaha! Come on boys! Let's have some fun! Let's kill the men and ravage the women!" one of the bandits shouted.
"And what about the children?!" the bandit next to him asked.
"Kill them too!" the bandit replied as they all laughed like maniacs.
The bandits had managed to trap the entire village into the center. They looked at them like predators, ready to strike and devour them however they liked as the men pulled out their weapons. Though, before the bandits could do anything, the remaining men and male teen stepped out of the crowd with tools, farm equipment, and whatever they could use as their own weapons. The bandits began to laugh at this as if it was some kind of comedy skit.
"Really? Fucking really?! We have weapons that are made to actually be used to fight and kill people. And you all are going to use a pitchfork and a shovel to fight us? You all must be either stupid and suicidal to think that you even have a chance!" one of the bandits shouted.
One of the men stepped out, looking afraid yet determined to fight, with his ax in hand. "Maybe we are outmatched... but we won't go down without a fight. We will protect our families. Even if it means death."
The bandit simply laughed at him like he told a joke "Alright, your funeral. And don't worry about your wife. When I kill you, I'll take good care of her and keep her warm."
With a wave of a hand, the bandits yelled out savages as they ran towards the group, ready to kill the weak. The men stood their ground, prepared for whatever is to come. But before the bandits could come close to the people, something unexpected happened. All the bandits fell to the ground as if something tripped them. Even stranger was that the bandit's weapons had disappeared. Everyone was confused as to what was going on at this moment.
"Sorry for taking so long to join the party, everyone."
The crowd turned their heads to the direction of the voice. To their shock, they were greeted by the Flash. Standing there with a smile as there was a pile of weapons and other deadly equipment he confiscated from the bandits.
"Happy to see there's plenty of clowns here, though I think Bat's would have a problem with that," Flash said jokingly.
"Hey!" One of the bandits shouted as he got up from the ground. "Who the fuck are you?! We were just about to have our fun until you came in! And what the hell is up with that clothing? Are you a crazy dumbass or something?!"
"Hey language, there are kids here," Flash playfully scolded him. "Besides, this is my hero costume, keeps my identity a secret and makes me look cool. It's standard for any superhero."
"A hero? Are you a man child? Heroes don't exist here. There are only strong and weak. And the strong prey on the weak and can do whatever the hell they want. So I think it's important you learn first hand," the bandit said sadistically as his allies got up and surrounded the Flash, ready to beat him to death.
"Seven against one? Don't you think that's unfair?" Flash pointed out.
"Fair? There's no such thing as fair in our world. The strong don't need to be fair to get what they want. They just take it and don't let anything hold them back," the bandit shouted as all his allies shouted in agreement.
"Okay, and because I'm nice, I'll be sure to end this fast so it's not as humiliating," Flash said.
"End this? As in end us? You really are stu-"
The bandit was quickly silent as he received a sudden punch to the face. In fact, when the bandit was punched, the others were attacked as well. As if they were all attacked in less than a second. One hit was enough to take down all the bandits as they fell to the ground unconscious, with Wally not moving from his spot. The villagers were shocked by what they just saw. This man in red had just defeated these bandits without them even seeing him move. It was truly an extraordinary sight to behold.
One of the villagers walked up to the Flash. "A-Are they dead?" he asked.
Flash was a bit taken back by his question. "What? No. I just knocked them out. They should be snoozing for a few hours. They won't be a problem anymore," he explained. "But enough about that, let's get you guys to the Safe Zone."
"The Safe Zone?" The villager questioned. "How are you going to get us to the- Safe… Zone…"
The villagers blinked in shock as they not only found themselves no longer in their village, but in the Safe Zone. They didn't even blink and already they were at their destination. Even the bandits were with them, though tied up on a tree. With Flash leaning next to it, eating an apple.
"Pretty fast, huh?" Wally said as he finished eating the apple in less than a second.
"How did you do this? Who are you?" one of the villagers spoke out.
"Call me the Flash. And I got you guys here cause I'm the fastest man alive. Follow this path and you'll meet with the others here. I gotta go and get 10 more village worth of people here," Flash said as he immediately left, leaving only a trail of dust behind.
The villagers were still in shock by what Flash did and how fast he was. But seeing as they were now in the safety of the Safe Zone, they didn't overthink this. Soldiers from the Revolutionary Army would come and guide the villagers to the camp ground as well as take the bandits into custody and have them pay for their crimes after this mayhem is over.
Safe Zone, Medical Tent
Inside the medical tent, every doctor and nurse were treating every patient there. Wrapping up wounds, giving them medicines, and doing what they can to save lives. With the amount of villagers being brought in by the Flash, more injured were checked in and treated. There were so many injured being brought to them that extra beds had to be brought in. To say that this whole place was a confusing mess was an exaggeration. Even with this chaotic mess, the medical team did their best to get everyone treated.
Even Chelsea was helping out as she was currently assisting another nurse to carry an injured person onto one of the newly set up beds. "Okay, lay her here, gently now," the nurse instructed Chelsea as the two were able to lay the injured woman on the bed.
"Is she going to be okay?" Chelsea asked in concern.
"She has a few broken bones, but she'll pull through," the nurse answered. "Thank you for your help."
"No problem," Chelsea said as she decided to look around.
Chelsea saw just how many people were in this tent and realized just how lucky they were. Before, the Revolutionary Army was a mess. Not only were most of their army dead thanks to either Esdeath or Doomsday, but most of their resources were being used up to fight a monster they had no chance of winning. The army was in a state that they couldn't win this war, much less save anyone. The whole situation seemed hopeless. That was her and Tatsumi's situation during their last encounter with Doomsday. Chelsea and Tatsumi thought at that moment, they would die. That they would be joining their allies in Nightraid in the afterlife. That Doomsday would win.
That is until the Justice League came. These heroes not only proved themselves to be powerful enough that they can hold their own against the Ultimate being, but they are able to use their gifts, their powers, to save others. The lollipop girl certainly felt that when she first met Superman and the way he talked to her and Tatsumi. Telling them that everything is going to be alright because he was there to protect them. For the first time throughout this entire day, Chelsea felt hope. Hope that things will get better, not just for her and Tatsumi, but for the rest of these people in the Safe Zone.
'Superman, Batman, everyone, please save us from this monster. You're our only hope,' Chelsea said in prayer.
"Chelsea, we need your help!"
The lollipop girl looked behind to see Dr Banting, treating one of his patients. "We need your help with getting more supplies in here. Help the nurses get more from the back."
"You can count on me," Chelsea replied as she followed one of the nurses to aid her.
Back to the battlefield, we focus back on Superman as he is pushed back to a cliffside, creating a massive dent on it. Despite the daze he was in, Clark managed to shake the feeling off to regain focus. Just in time too as he saw Doomsday running at him. He moved out of the way to let Doomsday punch the cliff, collapsing it into rubble that fell into the monster. Superman took this chance to take a breather, trying to plan a new approach on how to stall his enemy. Though he barely got five seconds of a break before the Ultimate came out of the rock rubble with ease and brought both his arms onto Superman. Clark felt his body nearly crumble from the amount of power the monster brought onto him, his muscles screaming in pain. But Clark pushed through as he shoved Doomsday off him and delivered multiple punches onto the beast's face. The beast was quick to elbow the Man of Steel away from it and grab him by the head before proceeding to slam the hero to the ground then throw him through to a horde of insect danger beasts.
Superman found himself surrounded by multiple praying mantis danger beasts that were trying to tear him apart with their claws and their barbed teeth. He was thankful they were unsuccessful as they only broke their claws and limbs as a result. With a flex of his muscles, he is easily able to throw off his would-be attackers. Though because of this, Superman was left wide open as Doomsday appeared in front of the Man of Steel, it's bone claws out and covered in a purple substance. Superman tried to block the attack or just move out the way, but it was too late.
Shink!
Clark let out a shout, yelling at the amount of pain he was feeling as the bone claws stabbed right into his thigh. And it didn't help that the pain was increased by a hundred fold with the purple substance into his body. It felt like his leg was now on fire. A substance as hot as lava and burns like acid was now entering his veins and it increased the pain a thousand times more. Breaking the bone claws off to make sure it stayed stuck in the thigh, Doomsday proceeded to charge it's fists with electricity and clobbered Superman. Clark tried to fight back, block the attacks, but he couldn't. Not only because his body was reaching his limit from the amount of pain it took, but he felt his body weaken, no doubt by the purple substance that was traveling through his system. He was left defenseless, forced to take the electric punches from the Ultimate.
Doomsday kept clobbering on Superman, shaking the very land as a result. The ground beneath them cracking up from the assault, even creating a category 10 earthquake. The earthquake was destructive as the very land of the Great Valley was breaking apart. The ground split apart into massive chunks of rock, large fissures opened up and many unfortunate danger beasts fell into. Many mountains and canyons broke apart into pieces. The entire continent itself was being shook by the punches Doomsday was unleashing against the Man of Steel.
Other members of the Justice League felt the shaking of the earth and immediately took counter measures. Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman flying into the air to avoid the earthquake. The King of Atlantis even commanded his aquatic danger beasts who could fly to get out of there and save as many of their brethren from falling into the abyss below.
The canyon the Revolutionary Army and Empire soldiers were on started to give out and crumble apart. Just as Twiggs and the soldiers were going to fall to their death, Shazam and Hawkman caught them and placed them on a green platform that Green Lantern created for them. Speaking of the Emerald Knight, Hal was currently using more of his ring to create a massive bubble around the Safe Zone to make sure that it didn't get affected by the earthquake. The citizens within the Safe Zone were shocked by this, becoming fearful of what was currently happening out there and believing that it was the monster that was doing this. Even Chelsea was becoming afraid by the sudden events that were occurring just now. Yet she still held onto hope, believing that Superman would save them from the Walking War Machine.
With Batman, he, Dorothea, and Tyler were taken back by the sudden shaking of the earth, feeling the ground below them give out. "Shit! We're going to fall!" Dorothea shouted as the three, the Quantum Teleporter and the Batmobile began to fall down the crevice below them.
"No we're not!" Batman countered as he called out to an ally through telepathy. 'Hal! We need help now!' With that, a green platform appeared underneath them, saving the three. the device, and the vehicle from falling to their doom.
"Holy shit, that was close. And what the hell is causing this?" Dorothea said in shock as she was calming down from her death experience.
"Doomsday," was all Batman said as he looked back at the battlefield. Seeing just how much destruction was happening from the monster's attacks alone.
'Damn it, Clark. You better be okay,' Bruce said, hoping that his best friend wouldn't meet his end.
With Flash, Wally felt just how destructive the earthquake was to the valley and feared how many people would be killed by it. So the Scarlet Speedster put in more energy and ran faster. Allowing him to save the ten remaining villages of the Great Valley from falling from their death and taking them to the Safe Zone in less than an attosecond.
Back at the center of the earthquake, Doomsday was still continuing to punch Superman deeper and deeper into the ground, already making a 50 meter hole. After delivering another electric punch, Doomsday stops for a brief moment to look at the state of his enemy. Superman did not look well. His face was completely mangled up, bloodied and bruised from the assault. The upper part of his costume had been torn up, revealing parts of his chest and right arm. Even worse was the purple poison was beginning to spread. Staring the thigh where the bone piece was stabbed in, already reaching up to the arm, turning the limb into a dark purple. Clark could barely talk as he was in so much agony and pain, let alone fight back. Seeing this, Doomsday lifted up it's fist, covering it with electricity, and brought it down to finish off the Krytonian.
However, to Clark's luck, Martian Manhunter came in and grabbed Superman, turning them both intangible, letting Doomsday's attack faze through them. The monster was shocked by this, though quickly became furious as J'onn fazed him and Clark below the ground, escaping. Doomsday began pounding on the crater in frustration as it's prey and enemy got away, roaring out from its hole as it was absolutely furious.
As the Ultimate was having a tantrum, Martian Manhunter flew an injured Superman to the Safe Zone. Taking him to the medical tent to seek help. As he walked inside, Chelsea was the one to encounter the Martian and injured hero.
"Oh my god… what happened to him?" Chelsea asked in concern.
"Doomsday has injured him into this awful state. And I need to examine him to see what is happening to him," J'onn told them.
"I'm on it. We need another bed here, now!" Chelsea shouted to one of the nurses.
After some running and searching, one nurse set up a bed for Superman, Martian Manhunter gently laying his friend on it. Dr Banting came in to examine Superman, trying to see why his injuries were though he looked like he was struggling.
"Doctor, what's the matter? What's wrong with him?" a nurse asked him.
"I'm trying to feel his body and figure out his injuries. But I can't feel his bones, any tears, anything. It's like I'm touching a living statue. I can't examine him," Dr Banting replied.
"In that case, I can be of assistance," J'onn said, offering his assistance.
Before anyone could say anything, J'onn placed his hand on the doctor's head, connecting his mind with the Martian's, allowing him to see what J'onn saw and feel what the Martian felt. With that, Martian Manhunter uses his Martian vision to see through Superman's anatomy, his bones, organs, blood vessels, everything.
"My god… what is this?" Banting asked in awe.
"I am using my telepathy to allow you to see what I see," J'onn answered.
"Telepathy? Is that the power of your teigu?" the nurse wondered.
"Believe it or not, these guys don't use teigus. Their powers are a hundred percent their own," Chelsea said, remembering her encounter with seeing Superman use his powers.
"She's right. What he's doing is… incredible. It's nothing like I've ever seen. Even teigus pale in comparison," Dr Banting added in, still awestruck by the telepathy.
"While I appreciate your admiration of my telepathy, we have an issue to deal with," Martian Manhunter reminded the doctor.
"Right, yes. Let's begin," Dr Banting said as he focused on the task at hand.
J'onn used his x-ray and natural strength to examine Superman for any injuries while delivering all this information towards Banting. The doctor processed all the information he was getting and the issue his patient had
"This isn't good," the doctor exclaimed in worry. "His skull is fractured as well as some broken ribs and a broken arm. And he's losing consciousness, no doubt because of the bone blade still stabbed into his thigh. Doesn't help that this strange substance is spreading through his body and making him weaker."
J'onn used his microscopic vision to examine the purple substance. From what he was seeing, the substance looks purplish black, water like yet acidic. But what got J'onn's attention was that there were these strange symbols inside the substance. The Martian recognized them to be red symbols, looking almost similar to Japanese Kanji, but they were too messy to be translated. Looking at the substance more, he saw it attacking Superman's cells. And while it was a slow process and the cells were doing their best to fight back, the black substance eventually won over and killed the cell, moving on to the next one.
"This isn't good. Superman had been affected by powerful poison that's eating away his cells," J'onn told them.
Banting looked shocked by the news. "Poison? That does explain why his skin is purple and why his body temperature is lowering. Is there a way we can cure this?"
"I don't know. Normally Superman's immune system is strong enough to fight back against even the deadliest poisons and diseases. However, this poison is different from any other I've seen. I assume this was created by Doomsday as the source is coming from his bone claw stabbed into his thigh," Martian Manhunter explained, examining the bone claw still stabbed inside Clark's thigh, figuring out how to remove it.
"This poison has to be something else to affect him this badly," Banting commented.
"Indeed. Though what has caught my interest is that this poison has these strange red symbols within the poison. It's similar to another language I've seen in my world but I cannot translate it," J'onn added.
That statement caught Chelsea's attention as she intervened. "Symbols? Red symbols that move through the body like it was water?"
J'onn looked at Chelsea with shock, surprised that she was accurate in her description. "Yes, it is. How do you know this?"
"Because I've seen this poison before, but I didn't think I would see it be used like this. Nor did I expect to see it again," Chelsea said in sorrow before explaining herself. "Before you guys came, when we were trying to kill Doomsday, we had someone with us that we thought could kill the monster. Her name was Akame, an assassin of Nightraid and my friend. She died trying to fight that thing."
"I am sorry for your loss," J'onn expressed, his telepathy feeling how sorrow and guilt this girl was experiencing.
"It's fine. I'm used to this," Chelsea felt herself tear up before getting her emotions in check. It was no time to cry. "Anyway, the way my friend tried to kill Doomsday was by using a teigu sword called the Murasame. What it did was that it was coated in a poison and anyone cut by the weapon would be inflicted by it and die in a matter of seconds, infecting the heart. We thought it would be enough to kill the monster, but… it overcame the poison and killed Akame. I didn't hear how she died though."
"Doomsday killed her by using the poison against her."
The group turned to see Tatsumi, who had just woken up, just sitting up from his bed to face them. "I don't know how, but when Doomsday killed her, he used his bone claws on Akame, only they were covered in poison. At least that was what Leone said when she told me how Akame died."
"Oh yeah, she did mention that. I must have forgotten that when we were dealing with Doomsday,' Chelsea admitted.
"Is there a cure to this?" J'onn asked.
"I'm sorry. The thing with Murasame is that it has no cure," Tatsumi answered.
"If that's the case, then Clark is in even more trouble than I thought," J'onn said in concern. "Due to his intriguing abilities, Doomsday has had this ability to replicate powers or create new ones that allow it to be able to kill its target. Such as how it made itself able to breathe fire to fight me. It's even worse here as Doomsday has seemed to improve on the poison and make it a thousand times more deadly than before, becoming acidic. So unless we find a way to cure him, Superman will slowly die."
The group felt dread from the Martian's words, fully understanding how dire the situation was. They wanted to say something, think of an idea that could help save Superman. But they couldn't think of anything. There was nothing that could cure the poison of Murasame, much less an improved version from the Ultimate being. However, they had to think of something or else their only hope would die.
'J'onn! J'onn, are you there?!'
Martian Manhunter recognized the voice and immediately talked back to it. 'Batman, is that you? What's going on?'
'We're in trouble. Doomsday's is climbing out from its hole and is making its way to the Safe Zone! And Superman is nowhere to be found! Where is he?!' Batman shouted in distress.
J'onn had a sorrowful look as he said, 'I have terrible news. Doomsday has infected Clark with a deadly poison that is slowly eating away his body and immune system. And this poison has no cure. We don't know what to do.'
On the other side, Batman looked annoyed by the sudden issue they're given as they already have enough problems to deal with. However, Bruce stayed calm and began to think to himself, thinking up ways to cure Superman. "Dorothea, how much longer until the Quantum Teleporter is fully charged?"
Dorothea looked into the monitor on the machine before saying, "About 12 minutes and 24 seconds."
Batman then used J'onn's telepathy to contact the other members of the league. 'Justice League, this is Batman. Superman is down and is slowly dying from a poison. We don't have much time so I need to know who's available to help him.'
'I could try and cure Clark with my water magic. But I'm not as efficient in it as Mera and I'm busy holding out the danger beast horde as best I can,' Aquaman responded.
'Same here, Batman. I could try but I'm no doctor and I need to conserve power in my ring,' Green Lantern added.
'Flash is still making sure all civilians are safe and out of danger's way in the valley. I could make myself available but I don't know what I can do to help,' Wonder Woman said.
'Me and Hawkman are available. I can try to help out with my magic, but I'm not too efficient on healing magic and doubt I'll have enough time to do it,' Shazam informed.
Hearing all that, Batman went into deep thought and began to mumble to himself, thinking up of how to solve their situation and what was available to them. His eyes were closed and his body became as stiff as a statue, thinking up of a way to get them out from this mess and save Superman.
Tyler noticed just how still Batman had gotten and how he was talking to himself. He wanted to walk up to the hero and see what's wrong with him, but was stopped by Dorthea.
"Don't. He's in deep thought right now. Don't ruin his focus, he seems to be dependent on this,' the alchemist said.
"That's a thing people do?" Tyler questioned.
"Of course. I do it all the time whenever I'm trying to invent something new. So let him do his thing," Dorothea said as she went back to checking on the teleporter.
After what felt like an hour of planning within his head, Batman opened his eyes as he finally came up with a plan. 'J'onn, can you hear me? I know what to do to save Superman.'
'Really? What do we do?' Martian Manhunter asked.
'Clark's body is able to fight off the poison to an extent to keep him from immediately dying. But his cells aren't strong enough to do so. So they need to make them stronger, give them a super charge,' Batman explained.
'A supercharge? How do we accomplish that?' J'onn wondered.
'The same place that Clark gets all his powers from. The one that made him become Superman. The sun,' Batman said he looked up into the sky.
'That can work. We can use this to not only save Superman but re-energize him to be able to fight again,' J'onn exclaimed in relief. 'We just need to get one of us to fly Superman into the sun.'
Just then, the ground behind them shook violently, with a loud roar accompanying it. Batman took out his binoculars and looked at where the sound came from. Climbing out from its hole, Doomsday stood on solid ground as it roared into the sky. 'Then make it quick. Cause Doomsday is active.'
Back with the Martian, J'onn got in contact with the other members of the league. 'Justice League, I have urgent news. Doomsday has become active again. We need someone to keep it busy while someone else flies Superman into the sun to heal him, immediately.'
Wonder Woman sliced a cyclop danger beast in half before responding. 'I'll go face the creature. Aquaman, Green Lantern, and the soldiers can handle the Danger Beasts.'
'Then I shall accompany you. Doomsday is too dangerous to face alone,' J'onn said.
'I can't really handle going into outer space and I'm helping out the soldiers so someone else has to take help Clark,' Hawkman replied as he fought alongside the small army and Twiggs. Bashing the head of a harpy danger breast into nothing but blood and feathers.
'In that case, I guess I'm the only one qualified for the job,' Shazam said as he killed a group of flying danger beasts with his lightning. 'I'll head to your location now, J'onn.'
'Then hurry, before it's too late,' J'onn said as he waited for Shazam before facing his group
"So? Did you come up with something?' Chelsea asked.
"We have. You do not have to worry anymore. We will cure Superman and protect you all," Martian Manhunter reassured them.
"What? But how? The poison has no cure," Banting questioned.
"Maybe not but there is a way to power up Superman so that his body can fight off the poison and assure his survival. Superman's power comes from the sun. His body can absorb and metabolize solar energy into his cells, giving him his incredible powers," Martian Manhunter explained.
"So… he's like a plant in a sense. Like how plants need sunlight to keep themselves alive." the nurse wondered, everyone looking confused from her words.
"In layman's terms, yes," J'onn answered bluntly.
"Okay, I was not expecting that," Chelsea uttered, getting weird ideas of Superman being a plant for some reason. But she shook her head of those thoughts as she got back to the subject at hand. "Anyway, if what you're saying is true, then how are we going to give him solar energy? Pretty hard to do with it being nighttime out there and the sun not rising for a couple hours."
"Simple, we're going to fly him into the sun," Martian Manhunter said.
From those very words alone, everyone looked at Martian Manhunter with complete and utter shock. Believing that what he had just said was borderline crazy and nonsensical.
"...what?" Chelsea uttered out.
"If we are to supercharge his cells, then we must put him inside the sun directly," J'onn answered as he began to walk towards the exit of the tent.
"I'm sorry, but how the fuck are you guys gonna get him to the sun?" Tatsumi questioned.
"I've already contacted one of our members of the league to fly him there. He'll come soon enough. But I must go, Wonder Woman will need my help if she is going to face off against Doomsday," the martian explained.
"You're gonna just go to the sun itself?! Just like that!" Tatsumi shouted, still trying to comprehend this.
"You'd be surprised how many times we've done this with Superman," J'onn told them with a smile.
"No offense, but your world sounds crazy and nonsensical," Dr Banting said bluntly.
"It is, but you'll get used to it," J'onn said jokingly before he exited the tent and flew off, to join with Wonder Woman to fight Doomsday.
Back on the battlefield, the danger beasts controlled by Doomsday still had their battle against Aquaman's own danger beasts army, neither side backing down. Though things were difficult for both sides to fight as the entire battlefield had changed. It was because of Doomsday causing an earthquake, the Great Valley had been torn apart. Massive cracks were nearly everywhere that lead into the black darkness below. Some parts of the area were big and even enough for the beasts to stand in and fight. Though some parts of land were not even as many were higher levels than others, like they were cliffs themselves. As the monsters tore each other apart, the Walking War Machine that was Doomsday was currently running through the battlefield, in search of another target to kill. Tearing apart any danger beast, an ally or not, to find new prey to turn into ripped up flesh. Though it eventually got its sights into Aquaman, who was using his water magic to slice in half three elephant danger breasts. Seeing him, the monster decided that he would be the next to die.
However, Doomsday was stopped as a lasso wrapped around his neck, pulling it back and forcing it to drop to the ground. The beast looked up to see who had dared to challenge. Looking down on the creature was none other than Wonder Woman, who had her Lasso of Truth wrapped around Doomsday's neck.
"I call you out, monster. Your fight is with me!" Diana shouted as she used her lasso to lift Doomsday into the air, twirling him around to gain momentum. Eventually, she throws the monster towards a nearby forest, launching it at hypersonic speeds, crashing into and killing any danger beast in Doomsday's way.
Flying into the forest, Doomsday quickly shoved its arms and legs into the ground below to stop itself, splintering multiple trees that were in its way. The beast was finally able to stop itself, climbing out from it's hole, looking more angry than ever. Though the Ultimate didn't have much time to process things as Wonder Woman was already charging at him and delivered a good strike into its face with her shield, forcing it back and dazing the beast. This allowed Diana an opening to get in a good couple of punches onto Doomsday. Though the monster was able to catch one of her fists, headbutting Wonder Woman before throwing her away from it, making her hit a nearby tree.
Despite the pain in her making her dazed, Diana was able to fight through the pain and got herself back, pulling out her sword. "You may have bested me before, creature! But by Hera, you will die today!" Wonder Woman shouted as she pointed her sword at the Walking War Machine.
Doomsday only gave her a small smirk before letting out a roar as it grew out massive bone claws. The two opponents ran up towards each other and their bladed weapons clashed with each other, creating a massive shockwave that blew away every tree and rock debris. The two started to swing their bladed weapons at each other, blocking each attack while trying to get on some hits. Doomsday was using pure brute force, throwing out strong and fast swings with its claws. Diana, on the other hand, was focusing on blocking and evasive maneuvers, using her shield to defend herself while trying to find an opening.
Although predictable in fighting style, Doomsday's pure power was becoming too much for Wonder Woman. She was pushed back from the sheer force behind each blow. Diana was able to find an opening as she parried slash, carving her sword against the monster's leg, forcing it onto its knees.
Using this chance, Wonder Woman ran behind and climbed up Doom's back. Jumping into the air and performing an elbow drop onto the creature, creating a massive crater around them.
Wonder Woman proceeded to lay in a haymaker of punches and shield bashes onto Doomsday. But the monster simply pushed Diana off its back, launching her into the air. Wonder Woman was able to land safely, but was left open as Doomsday came in close and grabbed her by the head before proceeding to slam her face to the ground then threw the Amazon into the air. Wonder Woman flew through the air at speeds faster than sound uncontrolling, crashing through three massive rock pillars until she crash landed on top of a rock pillar.
As the dust cleared, we see Wonder Woman, laying in a crater in pain, trying to climb out from her hole. But her eyes caught something that made her face morph in shock. She saw Doomsday in the air, rocketing towards her at high speeds. Acting quickly, Diana raised up her shield, using it to take the full force of Doomsday's full body punch. When they collided, they created a massive shockwave that pushed away all debris and unforniate danger beasts like that of an atomic nuke. Hal even felt himself having to use more of his ring's energy to protect the Safe Zone from the blast radius.
Once the smoke cleared, we see Doomsday standing above a groaning Wonder Woman, her shield being completely destroyed into nothing but scrap metal. The monster looked down at the Amazon, its red eyes glaring at her as he popped out its bone claws covered in poison. Positioning them to stab Diana right into her chest. However, before it could do it, Doomsday was stopped by green tendrils wrapping around its arm and body, restraining the beast. The tendrils then lifted the monster into the air and threw it away, making the creature crash into a nearby cliff.
Wonder Woman was getting her bearings back in check as she was trying to get back up. Though she saw a green hand in front of her, she looked up to see Martian Manhunter who was offering her his assistance.
"Do you require help?" J'onn asked with a warm smile.
Diana let out a smile as she accepted the Martian's hand as he helped her back on her feet. "It's good to see a friendly face to help me in my time of need."
"So, how's Clark? Have you found a way to help him?" she asked.
"We have. We can save him from the poison, however, it will take time before Clark can come back to us," J'onn explained. "So for the time being, we're on our own."
"Well ain't that just great," Diana uttered.
Just then, a rock pillar exploded into pieces of debris and dust with something jumping out from it. Landing in front of the Amazon and the Martian landed in front was none other than Doomsday. It didn't look pleased in the slightest as the creature stared down at the two heroes with hatred in it's eyes.
"Looks like Doomsday wants to go for another round," Wonder Woman connected as she got into a stance.
"It would seem so," Martian Manhunter agreed as he shapeshifted into a snake-like creature.
As both sides stared each other down, Doomsday let out a great roar before it charged at the heroes, Diana and J'onn doing the same. Both sides clashing together, ready to have yet another intense fight.
Back in the medical tent of the Safe Zone, we see Shazam landing right in front of the tent before entering. He walked through the many frantic doctors and nurses as he tried to look for his sick pal. Luckily, someone came in to help him.
"Hey!"
Billy turned to his left to see a familiar face. "Oh hey, I remember you. You're that girl I played that prank on. Though I don't think I got your name," he said as he was face to face with Chelsea.
"Glad you still remember me. And the name is Chelsea," she replied. "Anyway, your green friend told me that someone was coming to get Superman. That would be you, right?'
Shazam nodded to her in response. "That's me. Now where's Superman?"
Chelsea said nothing as she led Shazam through the tent, passing through people and beds until they reached Superman, who was being attended by a nurse. And Clark wasn't looking well as his condition was getting worse. The purple substance was starting to reach his head as the left side of his neck and cheek were turning dark purple. And Clark's was having a hard time breathing. Even worse was that he was staring to see blood spill out from his mouth. Clark looked like he was trying to fight off the poison the best he could, but anyone could tell that the Man of Steel was losing and was closer at death's door.
Shazam looked at Superman with distraught, horrified to see a hero he looks up to in such an awful state. Billy walked up to Clark, standing beside him to give him comfort.
"Oh jeez, Clark… I'm so sorry. We're gonna fix you up soon buddy. I promise," Billy told Superman, who responded with a smile. Though he could barely make one as he was in too much pain to really form any other expression.
As Shazam was giving Superman comfort, Chelsea came from behind and placed her hand on his shoulder. "Look, I know it's hard to see your friend like this, believe me, I understand. But we need you to stay focused. Superman needs help being taken to the sun to be cured. And you're the only one that can do it."
Shazam took in her words as he took a deep breath before his face turned into one of determination. "You're right. He needs me," he said as the hero slowly and carefully carried Clark into his arms. "You can count on me."
With that, Shazam flew out of the medical tent before flying into the sky, flying higher to enter outer space. Many occupants looked in the direction where Shazam flew off, wishing that everything would be okay. That the Man of Steel would return to save them.
"You think they'll be able to cure Superman in time? That he'll come back to save us from Doomsday?" Tatsumi wondered as Chelsea sat next to him, both holding each other's hand.
"I don't know honestly. All we can do is hope," Chelsea said, praying that everything turns out alright.
Back with Batman and his group, they were currently fighting off a few danger beasts that had managed to reach them. Though the Dark Knight, his Batmobile, and Tyler were able to deal with them without too much trouble. Dorothea was near the Quantum Teleporter, making sure everything was good and checking how much time they needed before the machine was at full charge.
"10 minutes and 16 seconds. Come on, why can't you go faster?" Dorothea muttered in frustration.
Tyler got finished slicing the head off a cassowary danger beast before his eyes caught something in the sky. He looked up and saw Shazam flying up high into the sky, carrying Superman with him.
"What the? What's he doing with Superman?" Tyler questioned Batman.
Batman had just finished stabbing a bear danger beast's neck with a batarang before looking up in the sky to see Shazam. "Good, that means everything is going as planned."
"What do you mean?" Tyler asked.
"Shazam is taking Superman to a place where he can be healed from the poison and be back to full strength," Batman answered as he threw a batarang at a platypus danger beast, which exploded and killed the monster.
"Sounds great. So where exactly is he taking Superman?" Dorothea wondered.
"He's going to put Superman in the core of the sun," Batman answered.
Both Tyler and Dorothea looked at the Dark Knight as if he grew a second head.
Space
Flying out from the Earth's atmosphere, Shazam carried Superman as he flew through space, passing Venus and Mercury. In a matter of seconds, the magical hero had made it to the sun. Billy looked back to Clark and saw that he was getting worse, with his wound decaying more and purple lines appearing on his face. Making haste, the magical hero flew into the star, passing through the zones of the sun, until he reached the very core. Once there, Shazam placed Superman in a position where he would stay put and rest. He even used his lightning magic to incinerate the bone claw in Clark's thigh, removing the source of the poison. Once he did, Shazam noticed that the energy from the sun was healing Superman as the poison stopped and the hole on his thigh was beginning to close. While the process was quick, it would take a little while longer before Clark would be fully healed.
"Okay Sups, you just rest here and let the sun do its thing. Just focus on healing yourself up and come back when you're ready. See ya later," Billy told Clark as he flew off out of the sun, flying back to Earth.
Great Valley
Back on Earth in the valley, the war still raged as Aquaman, Hawkman, Green Lantern, Flash, and their army continued to fight off the rampant danger beast army. They were all doing fine as the danger beasts did not post too much of an obstacle for them to deal with. The real challenge in this was making sure Doomsday didn't get anywhere near the Safe Zone and towards the people.
Speaking of, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter were still trying their best to hold back Doomsday as they continued to fight it. Diana had tied up the monster's arms with her Lasso of Truth, retraining it while J'onn was delivering multiple punches onto Doomsday with his four arms. Though the Ultimate was able to headbutt the Martian before kicking him away. Then the creature jumped back, tackling the Amazon towards a tree with its back. The crushing pressure and spikes stabbing her was enough to get Wonder Woman to loosen her grip on the lasso, allowing Doomsday to break free. The Walking War Machine was about to crush Diana with its bare hands until J'onn came back, tackling the beast away as he took the form of an alien rhino, pushing it through multiple rock debris. Doomsday was bothered by this as it grabbed the rhino, lifting it into the air before suplexing it back to the ground, creating a massive crater around them.
Doomsday was about to lay a barrage of punches onto the Martian Manhunter, but J'onn was quick enough to enter into his intangibility to avoid the assault, phasing through the ground. The monster's face morphed into that of anger and frustration as let out a roar on where the Martian used to be. This left it wide open for Wonder Woman to come in and sucker punch the beast, pushing it back.
Doomsday shook its head before focusing on Wonder Woman. Feeled hatred, the Ultimate ran up towards her to stab her with its bone claws. But then, Martian Manhunter appeared, coming out from his intangibly, and sucker punched Doomsday away from the Amazon. The monster focused its attention onto the Martian but he quickly went back into his intangible form, making the beast's attack faze through, allowing Diana to attack again. Using her sword to slice across the monster's face, mainly its eyes, blinding it.
As Doomsday was in the process of regenerating its eyes, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter came in and laid down a haymaker of punches and sword slashes onto the monster. This led to a pattern that Diana and J'onn took turns on attacking Doomsday. J'onn would attack Doomsday and when the creature tried to fight back, the Martian would go intangible, letting the attack faze through him. Then Diana would use this opportunity to get in an attack onto the monster. When Doomsday tried to retaliate against Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter would reappear and attack the monster from behind. The two heroes would repeat this pattern over and over to buy more time and keep Doomsday in check.
Back with the Quantum Teleporter, Batman and Tyler continued to fight off the danger beasts that tried to destroy it. Batman jumping and avoiding every swing and slash from the danger beasts that tried to get him, placing mini bombs on them. Once he backflipped to a safe distance, Bruce detonated thre bombs and the creatures exploded, dying in a firely inferno.
"Dorothea, how many longer?!" Batman shouted before activating his shock gloves and punched away a tiger danger beast with an electrical punch to the side of it's head.
Dorothea shot an electric blast at a fly danger beast before checking the screen. "9 minutes and 45 seconds! Why can't this damn thing go faster?!" she yelled.
"Because life's a bitch! That's why!" Tyler replied as he sliced a caiman danger beast in half with his blades. "We just have to keep stalling!"
As he said that, Tyler was tackled down to the ground by an otter danger beast. The giant long weasel like creature snarled it's teeth at Tyler before attempting to crush his head with its teeth. The Spectator teigu user was quick enough to stop the attack by making the otter bite one of his arms blades instead. Now Tyler was trying to get the giant otter off him while making sure this creature doesn't get the killing blow.
"Oh shit, that's a Giant Dire Otter," Dorothea uttered one shock. "If one is here, then that means-"
Dorothea was interrupted as she heard the sounds of squeaky noises from her side. She looked to the left and was greeted by an unpleasant sight. Staring down at the alchemist were seven other Giant Dire Otters, all them standing on some rocks. The creatures were looking at Dorothea with bloodlust in their eyes, making their squeaky barks, almost resembling that of children laughing or making dumb noises.
"Oh shit," she uttered before the otter danger beasts jumped towards the alchemist.
Dorothea immediately pulled up her electric gun and fired at Giant Dire Otters, managing to kill two of them. The Batmoble was able to get the rest of the offers to scatter. But one of them had managed to reach Dorothea and tackle her, causing the both of them to stumble down the steep part of a cliff, landing on one of the edges of the cliff.
"Dorothea!" Tyler shouted as the otter was getting closer to his face, making cracks into his arm blade. Having enough, Tyler felt adrenaline coursing through his body which allowed him to push the otter back enough for him to free his other arm and immediately started stabbing the otter danger beast in the neck. Around the third stab, the otter finally went limp as it's life faded away. Tyler shoved the dead danger beast off him before running off to save Dorothea, but his path was blocked as two more Giant Dire Otters appeared. Before the creatures could attack, Batman came in and threw two batarangs onto the otters, stabbing them on their backs. The batarangs exploded soon after, killing the otter danger beast with ease.
Batman and Tyler stand back to back as more Giant Dire Otters walk around the two fighters. "Batman, Dorothea's in trouble with a danger beast. We gotta save her," Tyler said as he replaced his cracked arm blade with a new one.
"We will. But first, we gotta deal with them," Batman said as he stared down at one of the otters in front of him.
With no more words to exchange, Batman and Tyler ran up at the otter danger beasts, ready for another fight.
Back with Dorothea, she was currently trying to crawl back to her wheelchair, get herself back up. Unfortunately, the Giant Dire Otter from before had quickly regained its composure from the fall and immediately ran up and got on top of Dorothea, attempting to bite her head into a pulp. However, Dorothea was fast enough to save herself by grabbing on the jaws of the danger beast, preventing it from reaching her and keeping its mouth open. The alchemist felt her hand in pain due to the otter's teeth sinking into the flesh of her palms and fingers, causing them to bleed.
"You damn otter," Dorothea utted, using every ounce of her strength to fight off the otter, avoiding the beast's claws from slashing her. "You think just because my legs are broken, means that I'm helpless?"
Using her enhanced strength, Dorothea gripped onto the otter's jaws and proceeded to make the beast open its mouth wider and wider. The Giant Dire Otter tried to fight back but the alchemist's strength was becoming too much for it. Dorothea fought through the pain of the otter's teeth tearing into her hands and kept pushing. Opening the monster's jaws so wide that the flesh on its cheek and the tendons that connected the skull and tendons began ripping apart. One by one, the strings of the flesh were tearing up in half. The otter could only bark in pain as it tried to either escape from it's situation or kill Dorothea to get her to stop. However, Dorothea did not stop as she kept pushing the two parts of the jaw apart. Once the tearing reached the throat, being able to see the tongue and uvula, Dorothea made her attempt. Letting go of the upper jaw, she aimed right at the roof of the otter's mouth and punched right through it. Piercing through the flesh and bone, grabbing onto the brian before crushing it into a bloody pulp.
The Giant River Otter started to twitch controllably before going limp, falling on Dorothea as it laid there dead. The alchemist then proceeded to lift the dead otter and threw it off her. "Fucking otter," she uttered in annoyance.
Back with Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter, the two heroes continued to fight Doomsday as they continued their strategy of switching between a distraction and being the attacker. J'onn was currently in his intangible state as Doomsday still tried to attack him. Only for Diana to attack from behind with her sword, causing the beast to stagger to the ground. Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter jumped on top of the Ultimate and began to lay a flurry of punches onto the monsters. Uses all their strength to make sure Doomsday stayed down. The area around them was being torn apart by the pure power the two heroes were displaying.
Doomsday felt itself become angier as it tried to get back up but was pushed back down by the punches of the Amazon and the Martian. The rage within the beast was growing bigger as electricity was building up within its body. Eventually, sparks of electricity were coming out from its body as the monster's eyes turned bright orange.
Wonder Woman's senses alerted her of an upcoming danger as she felt intense heat coming from the skin of Doomsday. Acting quickly, Diana grabbed Martian Manhunter and threw him away from the beast. J'onn didn't have any time to say anything as Diana got in front of him, using her body, crossing her arms into an X form, to protect the Martian.
With one massive roar, Doomsday let out all the electricity out from its body, unleashing a massive shockwave filled with orange lighting. Martian Manhunter was fortunate to be shielded by the attack due to Wonder Woman shielding him. However, Diana let out a scream as she was assaulted by orange lightning coursing through her body. Feeling her flesh and veins being burned by the sun itself. The area around them didn't do better as everything caught in the blast was either blown away from the shockwave or incinerated any unfortunate soul into nothingness. The sound of the blast could be heard all throughout, sounding similar to that of a volcanic eruption.
Eventually, the attack faded and went away as fast as it appeared. The smoke cleared to reveal the earth was scorched, the trees were burned into complete blackness, and any danger beast caught in the blast was reduced to nothing. The only thing to remain was their shadow engraved into the ground. The only ones to be seen alive, surviving the blast, were Martian Manhunter and Wonder Woman. Though while J'onn was fine, Diana was in worse condition. Her body was covered in burn marks and she looked absolutely exhausted. The Amazon lets out a couple breaths before fainting and collapsing to the ground.
"Diana!" J'onn shouted as he caught Diana in time, carrying her within his arms. Checking her to see if she was still alive. To his relief, there was still a pulse. While he was glad his dear friend was fine, J'onn felt some guilt, believing that he was at fault for not being prepared for this.
The Martian didn't have much time to process all this before Doomsday appeared in front of J'onn, about to crush him with its arms. However, Martian Manhunter was quick enough to turn and the unconscious Wonder Woman intangible, letting the attack faze through them. J'onn then fazed through the ground, escaping from the Walking War Machine and making it more enraged as it couldn't stop them. The monster let out a roar of anger as its prey got away.
Back in the battlefield, Wally was helping out Hawkman and the remaining soldiers to take out the many danger beasts that were trying to get towards the Safe Zone. While he was protecting the place with his green shield and constructs, Hal had to preserve his ring's power as much as he could. So added help from his allies was very much needed.
Wally ran up to a group of wolf danger beasts, consisting of 20 of them, and punched them all in the neck at speeds that they couldn't comprehend, killing them all in an instant. "Man, I feel like a kid again. Killing monsters like in those RPG games I had on my DS," Wally commented.
Before he could continue his fight, Flash was greeted by Martian Manhunter, who fazed out from the ground with an unconscious Wonder Woman in his arms. "Wally, I finally found you," J'onn said in relief as he turned off his intangibility.
"J'onn? What are you doing here? And what happened to Diana?" Flash asked.
"She was taken out by Doomsday. But do not worry, she is still alive," J'onn explained. "I need you to take her to the Safe Zone and get her help."
"Okay, you can count on me," Flash said as took Wonder Woman from Martian Manhunter's arms and into his. "Good luck." With that, Flash ran off to the Safe Zone, leaving behind his dust.
"I will," J'onn uttered before flying back to Doomsday at high speeds, ready to fight the monster once more.
Doomsday was still punching the ground in a tantrum, still trying to dig the Martian out and kill him. But the creature was interrupted by the same Martian flying at it at the speed of light, tackling it with a force. Pushing the monsters through multiple rock pillars and cliffs before throwing Doomsday into the dark massive fissure below. Then Martian Manhunter used his alien powers to transform into a dragon and flew down into the fissure, slamming his body onto Doomsday to crush him. Doomsday was able to resist the attack before grabbing the dragon by the neck and tried to stab the alien with it's bone claws. However, J'onn was quick to fire his laser vision onto the monster's face, blinding it enough for the Martian to escape.
Martian Manhunter would then shapeshift into a massive alien insect, flying in the air as he shot a thread of web fluid onto Doomsday's, wrapping it up in its web, trapping the monster. J'onn would then transform into an alien rhino and tackle Doomsday with full force. Though the Ultimate, through its struggle, was able to break free, and slammed its arms onto J'onn, creating a crater around them. Doomsday tried to unleash its fire breath to kill the down Martian. But J'onn was quick to turn intangible and escape the fire blast in time and fazed through the wall of the cliff. The Walking War Machine stopped its attack to see what had become of the alien, but was taken back when the creature didn't see a charcoal body. In its state of obliviousness, a giant hand came out of the cliff and grabbed Doomsday into its palm, crushing it before throwing the creature into the air. The creature was sent flying into the air at mach speeds, stopping as it reached above the clouds. The Ultimate floated in the air for a moment before something appeared right behind it.
Towering over the monster and the clouds himself, Martian Manhunter had transformed himself into a giant. Letting out an enraged roar as he held two mountain sized boulders, which the Martian used to smash them on Doomsday, crushing the beast with full force. But he didn't stop there as J'onn J'onzz used his telekinesis to keep the rocks on the Ultimate, imprisoning it within a rock sphere, then forced the sphere to crash into the ground before proceeding to stomp on it with full force.
The destructive power Martian Manhunter displayed on Doomsday could be seen from everyone, even feeling the very ground and air shake from the feat. Dorthea, who was laying on the side of the rock, was marveled by the very power the Martian showed. Wrapping her cut up hands with pieces of her dress she ripped off to stop the bleeding.
"Holy shit, was that telekinesis?" she uttered in amazement. "I knew these guys were powerful, but the things they can do are beyond crazy. Something even Teigus couldn't do."
Dorthea couldn't help but think back to her life's work as an alchemist, well once life work before she burned it all. All her life, she used the art of alchemy to not only make herself stronger but to find a way to achieve immortality, to continue to improve the lives of humanity. Though, thinking back, she was mostly doing this for herself and only herself. Dorothea really was a selfish person to think that she could achieve these accomplishments and only use them for her own self interests and sacrifice others to accomplish them. Even worked with the worst of the worst to get what she wanted, treating life so carelessly.
In her head, Dororthea felt that she would have continued her path with alchemy and continued to do her inhuman experiments for immortality or worse. Which is why she's thankful that Tyler came when he did. He had every right to nosy listen to her pleas, to kill her on the spot. Yet he did listen to what she had to say and help her with her plan to stop Doomsday. Granted, she knew it was because he was desperate for any way for this madness to end. Eitherway, she was just glad that he came. Especially when he used his teigu, Spectator, to show her the memories of Doomsday, how he was created by the scientist named Bertron. When the alchemist saw how this man created Doomsday in the hopes to create a creature that could adapt and survive anything that came it's way, Dorothea saw some traits of herself in him. How Bertron was determined to achieve his goal no matter what, even if it meant doing inhumane acts such as killing an infant over and over until it evolved into the perfect being for years. After seeing how his experiment went and the end result of it all, in some weird way, it opened her eyes to reality.
Dorothea came to the realization that if she did achieve her goal of immortality, what then? What was she going to do with it? What was her next chapter once she was immortal? Like Bertrin, she didn't know the answer to that. The alchemist was so focused on completing her goal to live forever that she never thought of what else to do in the future. It was that lack of insight that caused the creation of Doomsday and the death of Bretron. Dorothea came to the realization that if she continued down this path, she would end up like Bretron and do more harm to the world and more. She may have been moraless in what she did, but the alchemist was not an idiot. She may have killed others to achieve her goals, but she wasn't someone that wanted the entire world to end for it: some risks were too big. I guess it was at that moment that she realized that if she continued down this path Dorothea would later on create something far beyond her control and cause nothing but chaos. Hence why she decided to burn all her life's work, to prevent herself from ever committing the same mistake Bertron made.
So far, Dorothea felt good about herself as she felt free. No longer obsessed with completing one single goal. She could do something else worthwhile in her life. Granted, Dorthea knew very well that she was going to be put in prison after all of this is over with and many people will likely want her dead for her past crimes. Couldn't say she blamed them as she was a bitch in the past. However, she felt some hope that things would get better since Tyler and Batman saw that maybe she could change for the better. The fact that those two seem to see that the alchemist was making the effort to change was enough for her. In a sense, Dorothea was glad to have people to be by her side and give her a chance to become better.
"Huh, so this is what it's like to have actual friends. It's nice," Dorothea said, feeling a sense of gratitude.
On cue, a black rope with a hook at the end dropped beside her. Dorothea was taken aback by this sudden appearance of this as she looked up to see where it came from. To her delight, at the top of the cliff was Batman and Tyler. They looked tired and scratched up but were perfectly fine.
"Hey Dorothea, are you doing alright?" Tyler shouted with a smirk.
Dorothea couldn't help but smile back. "Other than bloody bite marks on my hands, I'm doing fine. I should be asking you two how you did with the otters."
"The otters caused us some issues, but… we managed," Batman said as he and Tyler turned around to see the multiple dead bodies of the Giant Dire Otters. "Now hurry up and secure yourself, we'll pull you up."
"Will do," Dorothea replied as she grabbed the black rope.
Back with the giant Martian Manhunter, he was repeatedly punching Doomsday into the ground. The land around them is giving way, crumbling into dust. Letting out a roar far more mighty than any danger beast could achieve. At this point, J'onn was just forcing himself to continuously punch Doomsday into one spot. To buy time until Superman can come back. No matter how tired he felt, he had to keep going.
As he let down his right fist for another punch, J'onn felt his fist stop to a halt. He was taken back as the Martian tried to pull his arm back, but couldn't. It felt like something was holding it in place, refusing to let go. Then it hit him, J'onn's eyes widened when he realized what was causing all this. Underneath the Martian's fist, Doomsday was gripping onto the green skin of the alien. Sinking its bone claws into the flesh to make sure his foe couldn't break free. J'onn was shocked by this as he should have seen this coming, he should have felt the stinging pain of the bone claws stabbing into his flesh. Though, seeing as how exhausted he was after attacking the beast to no end, his body would have been numb to feel pain. With the Martian trapped and within his grasp, Doomsday could now retaliate.
Holding the Martian in place with one arm, Doomsday used its free arm to start digging into the alien's flesh, making an opening. This time, Martian Manhunter felt the pain as he let out an agonized yell into the sky. J'onn tried to pull his arm back, to free it from the monster's grasp and end the pain. After a few more tugs, the Martian was able to free his arm from the monster's grip. He held his arm as he looked down to confront the Ultimate being once more. But, to his shock, Doomsday was gone. He quickly looked around to find the monster but there was no trace of it. As he wondered where the beast was, J'onn felt his arm go into agony as he felt a moving pain in his limb. He examined his arm to see what was the cause of the excruciating pain. To his horror, he found a massive bloody hole on his hand, right on his knuckle area. Looking at it carely, J'onn could see that the wound had a unique pattern on the walls, almost similar to that of a tunnel. Through instinct, the Martian felt his limb around and found a small long opening within. A ripped up bloody flesh tunnel that was made in a matter of seconds.
'It can't be… does that mean… he's inside my body… or somewhere else?' Martian Manhunter thought to himself, feeling a dread of fear within.
"Doom."
The sudden deep voice sent a shiver down his spine as Martian Manhunter looked to his right to see what it was. To his shock realization, on his shoulder was Doomsday; digging itself out from the bloody hole it made and staring back at Martian with its red glowing eyes. Wasting no time, the Walking War Machine jumped onto J'onn's neck and sank its claws and teeth into it. Martian Manhunter let out a gasp, choking in pain as the monster was gripping onto his windpipe. Doomsday held onto the Martian's neck as tightly as possible, strangling his foe, before proceeding to stab it repeatedly with its bone claws. Blood squirted out as the giant Martian was trying his hardest to get this thing off of his neck.
Through instinct, Martian Manhunter activated his intangible powers, letting Doomsday faze through his neck and let it fall to the ground below. As the beast roared as it crash landed, J'onn shrunk back to his original size, turning off his intangibility, as he fell onto his knees. He let out many coughs and gasps as he let his healing factor heal his arm and neck wounds until he was able to breathe properly.
"...I… am… gonna eat… so many oreos when I get home…" J'onn said to himself in a panic, trying to calm down the best he can after a near death experience.
Just as he was feeling calmer, a loud roar echoed from the sky. Martian Manhunter looked up, and to his dismay, he saw Doomsday, jumping into the air and free falling down into the Martian to crush him to death. However, J'onn was prepared and immediately went intangible, letting the monster daze through him and hitting the ground instead. The Ultimate didn't give up though as it charged back at the Martian and tried to attack it again with its fists and claws. Even when its attack kept phasing through his opponent, Doomsday didn't give up.
'How is it that a creature this simple minded and one noted in its motive can be this dangerous? All it thinks about is hunting anything with a pulse and killing whatever is in its view, making it predictable.' Martian Manhunter thought to himself as Doomsday still tried and failed to harm him. 'Yet, it's that same mind set that makes it such a threat. There's no reasoning with it or controlling it. All Doomsday is… is a monster filled with rage and murderous intent.' After many failed attempts of trying to attack the intangible Martian, Doomsday let out a roar of frustration onto the alien, as if cursing at it.
Just as Doomsday was about to continue, the creature saw something that caught its eye. Staring at the cliffside nearby, about a hundred miles away, he saw people there. More specifically, the monster was looking at Batman and Tyler, who were currently using a rope to pull Dorothea back up to them. Behind the two men was a massive machine that was emitting a large amount of power to it. This immediately caught the monster's attention as the Walking War Machine decided to switch targets and go after them instead.
Martian Manhunter realized this as he saw Doomsday walk away from him and move towards Batman and the others. "No!!" J'onn shouted as he deactivated his intangibility to stop the monster. But the Ultimate was quick to catch the Martian, grabbing him by the head, before throwing him away somewhere else. Once he was gone, Doomsday slowly opened its mouth as embers and smoke were pouring from it. The creature then unleashed a massive wave of its fire breath at its prey, a tidal wave of flames that burned any unfortunate that were caught in its path.
Back on the cliffside, Batman and Tyler had just pulled Dorothea back to safety as they placed her back on her wheelchair. But before any of them could say anything, the three noticed a red and orange glowing light coming at them. When they turned to the source, their eyes widened in shock and horror as they saw a gigantic wave of flames heading towards them. Out of pure instinct, Batman held Tyler and Dorothea close to him, shielding them in his cape in a desperate attempt to protect them. Even if he knew that it was inevitable that those flames would kill them. As they waited for their demise to happen, the three heard something behind them, the sound of screaming. Batman looked behind him to see what that was and was alarmed.
In front of Batman, Tyler, and Dorothea was Martian Manhunter, who was in his giant form and blocking the wave of fire with his body. Though because he did this, J'onn was in an ungodly amount of pain. His screaming was constantly changing from high to low pitched. His shapeshifting was out of control as his body was constantly shifting into something else. And his skin was beginning to turn from green to charcoal black. Even if it was his decision to do this to save his allies and make sure the Quantum Teleporter was safe, Martian Manhunter, at that moment, wished for any merciful god to make this excruciating pain stop.
"J'onn!!!" Batman shouted in terror.
'Batman! Somebody! Help me!' John shouted in agony with his telepathy.
Back with Doomsday, it continued to unleash its fire attack onto the giant Martian, hoping to kill it this time. However, the creature's attack was stopped when Hawkman appeared from above and smashed his Nth metal mace onto the monster's head, forcing its mouth shut. Once the flames came to an end, Martian Manhunter let himself collapse as he morphed back to his original size and fell down. Batman was quick to save his friend as he jumped up and caught the Martian in his arms. As he landed back on the ground, Batman laid Martian Manhunter gently down.
"J'onn, can you hear me? J'onn!" Batman called out, trying to do what he could to save his friend.
Tyler and Dorothea stood from behind as they watched the Dark Knight do a procedure to revive Martian Manhunter. Pulling out bottles of medicine from his utility belt, inserting them into a mechanical syringe and injecting them into J'onn one at a time. Once that was done, Bruce began to compress the Martian's chest, making sure his heart was pumping. This sent for about half a minute, Batman doing the compressions nonstop.
"Come on, J'onn. Fight through this," Batman uttered.
Just when things seemed hopeless, Martian Manhunter began to cough uncontrollably before breathing properly. Batman backed away to give J'onn some room to calm himself. Bruce looked relieved that his alien friend was going to be alright. With Tyler and Dorothea looking happy that the Martian is going to be fine.
"…B-Batman? Is that you?" Martian Manhunter uttered, raising his head up.
"It's me, J'onn. I managed to soothe the pain and inject the medicine your species needs for fire injuries like this," Batman explained as he checked on his wrist screen, checking on the Martian's vitals and heart rate. "You will need medical attention, but for now, you'll be fine."
J'onn let out a smile as he laid his head back down. "As always… you're prepared… for this sort of thing. Thank you."
"We should be the ones thanking you," Tyler spoke up. "We would have been burned into a crisp if it wasn't for you."
"As much as I'm grateful for saving us, wasn't that reckless of you to do? I mean logically, I understand why you did it. But to throw yourself to beat death, wasn't that reckless? Weren't you afraid to die?" Dorothea asked, feeling conflicted at what she witnessed. To possibly die that horrifically.
Martian Manhunter took Dorothea's question into account, taking deep breaths, before answering. "While it is true that burning to death would be an awful way to die, I never considered the fear of how I would die. I was more concerned about fear of you three dying and the destruction of the Quantum Teleporter, our only hope of stopping Doomsday. As long as you all were safe and alive, then I could die with no regrets."
Dorothea was taken back by his response, not prepared for that kind of answer. To think that there was someone as noble as kind as him. I'm a better term, Dorothea didn't think that there could be an actual hero, that was selfless and wanting to do good in the world. Considering how dark and corrupted her world was, she forgot that the word hero even existed.
"Hmm, on a logically sense, it was pretty dumb so you to put yourself in harm's way. Yet, it's also admirable and heroic at the same time. I doubt most people in this world would ever do that," Dororthea said with admiration.
"Maybe. But that is how a few are. Those who are so willing to save others and make sure that they can smile again will always do the right thing. They move without thinking, their bodies move on their own. Even when things are hopeless, they'll do what needs to be done because it's better to die fighting than to live and give up. At least, that's what I believe," Martian Manhunter expressed.
"Hehe, yeah… I guess you're right there. Feels like a jab at me in a sense. I mean, I'm not a good person. I know that I'm one of the worst people in this world," Dorothea admitted as she began to express her emotional sentiments about herself. " I've done things that any sane person would deem horrific, so more evil. And I enjoyed doing all of it for my own selfish goal. Yet, despite all that, I decided to just give up all that in a sense that I finally saw that all I was doing was wrong and pointless. That I needed to change my ways or I'll just end up destroying myself. Doesn't that sound like a joke? After all the atrocities I've done, I decided that today I'm going to change my ways. I doubt any rational person will ever give me a second chance. And as an intelligent person, I wouldn't blame them for wanting to kill me. Because I don't deserve forgiveness." Once she was done saying all that, Dororthea had some tears appearing from her eyes. Wearing a sad smile as well.
Tyler looked in bewilderment by how Dorothea was tearing up again and doubting herself. No matter how many times he sees it, Tyler could never not be surprised to see the alchemist cry like this, to feel remorse.. After his many years in the Revolutionary Army, he didn't think anyone in the Empire could actually feel guilt or shed a tear for the wrong doings they did. He always saw them as monsters in skin that needed to be purged. So seeing Dorothea, one of the worst of the worst, actually feel these kinds of emotions was surprising to say the least. In a sense, he started to feel remorse for her, wanting to change but feeling she can't. That's something Tyler never thought he would ever feel for a person in the Empire in his entire life. Batman stayed in his usual stoic look that he's always displayed in his line of work as the Dark Knight. Though he was hopeful for Dorothea to change for the better and was showing progress, he knew better that this sort of thing took time and, most importantly, only the alchemist could make these changes for herself. Similar to a metamorphosis in a sense. The two stood on the sideline as they waited for what the Martian would say.
"You are right. I have read through your mind and felt your emotions. You have done terrible things that would be seen as crimes against humanity. And you were indeed a selfish person. The things you have done are things that cannot be overlooked or be forgiven," Martian Manhunter admitted.
"Yeah, I figured," Dorothea replied.
"However, I do not think you are beyond redemption," J'onn said, catching Dorothea off guard, as he continued to talk. "While I saw your past self to be greedy, selfish, and remorseless, your present self tells a different story. I can see that you truly see that a life of seeking immortality was wrong and destructive. And while you were consumed with fear and questioning your morality, you choose to change your ways for the better. You helped the Revolutionary Army to try and defeat Doomsday, you abandoned your horrific plans after seeing the mistakes Bertron made, and even grew to appreciate life after meeting with and talking with Tyler. You are actively trying to become someone better."
"The way I see it, you've become someone that truly does feel remorse, guilt, and wants to be better. In your heart… you're starting to show kindness. You were indeed an awful person. But I would one too if I didn't give you the benefit of the doubt. To ignore these warm feelings would be wrong. While you don't want to believe it, I see that you deserve a second chance," Martian Manhunter said warmfully, holding onto Dorothea's hand to reassure her.
Those words struck a chord within Dorothea. Making her feel something that she hasn't felt since she was a small child, before becoming an alchemist and going down the path of immortality. Inside her body, her soul, she felt the gentle warmth of comfort, kindness. It was enough to make the alchemist's eyes water up more, a stream of tears coming down from her cheeks. Like that, Dorothea began to shake up and began to cry, trying to wipe her tears away to no avail. "...I'm sorry… I'm sorry…" she uttered, her voice hiccuping.
Tyler walked up to Dorothea as he gave her a hug from behind, giving her some comfort. She gladly accepted it as she held his arms, embracing them. At that point, Tyler did feel like he had gone for doing this. Hugging and comforting a once enemy, being friendly and helpful to her. He guesses that after losing his close friends today and spending time with Dorothea, he came to see her as a friend. Another odd thing he noticed was that Dorothea in this instance, looked like a small little girl, crying as she knew she did something wrong and wanted to make things right. And in that sense, he felt it was only fair he gave her a chance to do so.
"I know… I know…" Tyler softly replied as he continued to comfort the crying Dorothea.
Back to the fight, Hawkman was currently giving his all as he was fighting Doomsday. Wailing at the beast with both his Nth mace and ax with all his might. Letting out his own animalistic growls to show his dominance. Despite being bombarded by relentless attacks, Doomsday was able to find an opening and caught the ax in his hand before crushing it into scrap metal. The monster pulled Hawkman close to it and attempted to crush his head with its teeth. But Carter was quick and placed both hands on each side of the creature's teeth, preventing it from closing its mouth from crushing his head.
Hawkman struggled with every ounce of his strength to keep Doomsday's jaws from closing and crushing his head. Though the Ultimate seemed to have had enough from deep in its throat was a bright red and orange, embers and soot coming out. It was about to unleash another fire breath onto his prey. But Carter was prepared for this as used all his power to push Doomsday back a couple feet. Giving him enough time to take out and equip his strongest weapon, the Claw of Horus.
"You want to eat, monster?" Hawkman uttered as he aimed his claw at Doomsday, powering it up with the magnetic force of this planet's gravitational pull. "Then eat this!"
Just as Doomsday was about to unleash a fire attack, Hawkman shoved his Claw of Horus into the monster's throat. Using the gravitational force of the weapon to push the flames back inside the beast's mouth and into its body, even forcing the monster deep into the ground. With the amount of gravity inside the claw, the weapon was able to create a massive hole into the Earth's ground, pushing Doomsday deep within, passing through the crust layer and straight towards the lower mantle layer. The ground of the Great Valley shook from the tremendous force admitted from the Claw of Horus. The people in the Safe Zone are shocked by yet another earthquake happening with them, questioning how many of these they will have to deal with before this fight is over. Though the earthquake eventually came to an end as everything was still once more.
Hawkman was flying in the air as he looked down at the massive hole he made with his weapon. A gigantic hole so deep that all he saw was nothing but darkness. He was taking some deep breaths as he wondered how long Doomsday was going to stay down there after taking that attack. Though remembering what this creature has done in the past, Carter was cautious about this as he prepared himself in case the monster appeared again.
As expected, Doomsday made its appearance, jumping out of the hole at faster than light speeds, appearing in front of Carter Hall to try and stab him with its bone claws. Hawkman was prepared as he raised the Claw of Horus in front of him and blocked the attack. And although the attack did not hit its target, the force behind it did send Hawkman flying back, moving at speeds that broke the sound barrier. Acting quickly, when he got close to the ground, Carter smashed his mace and legs into the ground. Using them as anchors to stop himself. Using all his strength, Hawkman was able to stop the tremendous force pushing him back and stopping at a halt.
Hawkman fell to the ground as he took deep breaths, feeling sweat within his helmet as he soothed his legs. "Clark wasn't kidding about that thing… it really is a dangerous foe to fight," Carter muttered to himself before forming a smile. "I might enjoy myself here."
Just then, Doomsday appeared as it was running towards the hero, its bone claws still out. Taking quick action, Hawkman pulled out an Nth metal sword, using both his mace and sword to the bone claws. A shockwave was created as the ground around them became a crater. Carter was using all his strength and will to hold his own against the monster.
Forcing his body to push more, Carter let out a yell as he pushed Doomsday off him. Then he proceeded to smash his mace mace against the beast's face, staggering it back. Gaming an opening, Hawkman replied back his fist and punched Doomsday in the face with his Claw of Horus, sending it flying through the battlefield, crashing into a rock pillar. Hawkman flapped his wings and took flight, flying towards Doomsday to continue their fight.
The monster was picking itself back up on its legs, shaking its head from the impact it took by the hero. Though this left it distracted as Hawkman came from above and slammed his mace into the beast's head, forcing it back to the ground. Then Carter proceeded to go all wild and swing down his mace and sword onto the monster, not letting the creature have a single moment to do anything. However, Doomsday had enough as it pushed itself back, growing bone spikes out as well in an instant, forcing Hawkman to fly off to avoid getting stabbed. The Walking War Machine didn't stop at that as it grew more bone spikes from its arms and fired a swarm of sharp bone projectiles at Carter. The Thanagarian took immediate action as he flew and weaved around the air, avoiding the bone projectiles as best he could. Seeing as none were hitting, Doomsday stopped its attack and switched to using its ice breath, moving its head around to allow its nitrogen blue beam to try and hit its target. Hawkman tried his hardest to evade the blue ice breath, but was eventually hit. The attack hit the top part of his wing and froze all the flesh into solid ice. The weight of the ice and pain in his wing made Carter lose control of his flying and began to fly to the ground.
Carter felt himself panic at the predicament he was in, feeling himself falling closer to the ground and the ice slowly spreading throughout his wing, slowly turning it into ice. However, with quick thinking, Hawkman thought of a way to take advantage of this situation. Wrapping his wings around him, tucking them in, and reeling back his mace and sword, Hawkman let himself fall at a faster rate. Dive bombing down towards Doomsday, passing through the air with ease and moving like a missile. The creature saw this and quickly took action as it unleashed a fire breath at Hawkman. Using his buildup speed, the Thanagarian was also able to evade the fiery attack, making sharp turns with ease. As the monster continued to try and incinerate the hero, Hawkman had already appeared right on top of the monster. Using all his strength, build up speed, and the weight of the ice, Hawkman brought down his sword and mace onto the top of the beast's skull. The kinetic force behind the attack caused the ground around them to give way and become a crater, creating a massive dust cloud around them.
The dust cloud remained there, being very quiet as the only sounds to be made was the dirt crumbling and the wind blowing. As it seemed that the battle was over, there was movement in the dust cloud, something changing the dust's path in different ways with their speed. And then, two figures popped out of the dust cloud, those two being Hawkman and Doomsday as they stared down at each other with rage and determination. Though Carter looked different as one of his wings were gone, leaving only a bloody stump on his back shoulder. Though he seemed to have ignored the injury as the Thanagarian to rapidly swung his Nth metal weapons at the creature while blocking the monster's bone claws. Though Doomsday found an opening as it kicked Hawkman in the chest, sending him flying back before firing an ice breath attack.
Carter stomped his feet to the ground to stop his momentum, picking up a large chuck of rock and using it to shield him from the ice breath. As the rock was turning into pure solid ice, Hawkman's Nth armor did its thing and healed most of his minor wounds as well as regrow a new wing. With that, Hawkman flew up into the air and went towards Doomsday. The Walking War Machine ceased its attack as it ran at Carter as well to try and punch him. However, the Thanagarian was prepared as he grabbed and threw a net at the monster, ensnaring its head and arms together. This distraction allowed Hawkman to slam his mace on the monster's face, sending it flying into the air. Then he flew up above the creature and slammed it back to the ground with his Claw of Horus.
Hawkman flew down as he did a stomp on Doomsday's back as he started to wail on the monster again with his weapons like a wild animal. The monster struggled to get free from the net ensnaring it, which proved difficult due to the metal rope being made of Nth metal. But that didn't stop the creature as it began to use its fire breath on the net and its arms, effectively setting itself on fire. Carter was taken back by this as he immediately flew off from the Ultimate so as to not get set on fire. The fire seemed to have done the trick as the flames and Doomsday's pure strength allowed it to rip apart the net and set itself free. As it did, Doomsday brought its hands together and performed a fire double arm swing at Hawkman, hitting him in the head. Carter was sent flying back, the sound of a crack being made and blood gushing out, as the hero crashed into the ground, creating a dust cloud around him.
Doomsday stood there, staring at where Hawkman was as he waited for him to get up and fight again. Though nothing seemed to happen as it seemed like the fight was over. Just as the Ultimate was about to walk away, it heard a sound, the sound of the dirt shifting from movement. The beast looked back to the source and saw Hawkman, who was staring back at the monster with anger yet tired looking eyes. He was covered with cuts and dirt as his helmet had a large crack on it, making it hard for him to see. Fixing this issue, Carter grabbed his helmet by the crack and tore it off him, revealing his face, his messy black hair and raging blue eyes in full view.
Carter Hall took some deep breaths before saying, "…is that all? I've been hit harder by silver age villains…"
Doomsday only responded with a mighty roar as it charged its arms with electricity. The electricity merging with the flames still covering the monster, making it into being of lighting and fire. Aiming its bone claws at Hawkman.
"By all means," Hawkman uttered as he picked up his mace and sword, aiming them at the monster. "BRING IT ON!!!"
Doomsday let out a roar as well as it swung its fire electric bone claw at Hawkman, who blocked it with his sword. In that instant, Hawkman roared as well as he and the monsters began to swing their weapons at each other, blocking and attacking at the same time. The two were screaming non stop as they swung their attacks at each other; their roars sounding like that of deadly apex predators. Sparks, fire, and electricity flying around them. The ground cracking up and obstacles and danger beasts were sliced, curved, shocked, or smashed to death when getting too close to the two. Hawkman and Doomsday only focused on each other, letting out all their strength and power, roaring so loud that their throats could tear apart at any moment, and attacking each other relentlessly. No matter what injuries they got, the two kept going until one of them fell.
The fight continued at the Thanagarian and the Ultimate moved their fight throughout the battlefield. Destroying and killing anything that got on their way. The two focused only on each other as they continued their assaults. Watching from a cliff side above, Twiggs and the remaining soldiers of the Revolutionary Army and Empire were in awe of what they were seeing. Especially Hawkman as he was fighting that monster head on. The fight they were seeing resembled that of two wild animals fighting each other to the death. A bloody, brutal, yet intriguing battle
"Holy shit. Look at them go," a soldier spoke out.
"Yeah, I knew this Hawkman guy was powerful, but this is insane," another commented. "Just when you think you've seen everything, these guys just keep on surprising us."
"No kidding. We may actually win this war. We can finally stop all this madness," a third soldier stated, his comrades agreeing with him.
"I wouldn't be absolutely sure on that," Twiggs countered, getting bathe soldiers' attention. "It's true that we all now have a chance at winning because of these heroes appearing in our time of need. But that doesn't mean that this will automatically give us the win."
Twiggs looked back to the fight to see Hawkman attacking Doomsday with his weapons relentlessly. While it seemed like he was gaining the edge, a closer look could show that Carter was getting tired. His movements were beginning to get sloppy and he was taking deeper breaths. It was clear as day that Hawkman was not doing so well.
"Look at Hawkman, it's clear that he won't last much longer. He's going to need help sooner or later," Twiggs pointed out, the soldiers being quick to notice it too.
"Damn, you're right. So what do we do then?" one soldier asked.
Twiggs went into deep thought as to think of a plan to help Hawkman. Feeling up his goatee beard for some kind of plan they could use here.
Back with Hawkman, he continued to swing his Nth metal weapons at Doomsday. Even if his attacks weren't doing much, Carter couldn't stop as he needed to buy time for the Quantum Teleporter to be fully charged and ready and for Superman's return. He had to force himself to keep going, even if his body was screaming for him to stop.
Though things turned for the worse as when Hawkman swung his sword at Doomsday, the creature was able to catch the blade. Ripping the weapon out of the hero's hand and crushing it into pieces. While taken back, Carter kept focus as he gripped his mace with both hands and swung at the monster like crazy. After the third swing hit its head, Doomsday was able to catch the mace with its hand, pulling it back to get Hawkman closer to it. Carter responded by trying to punch the creature with the Claw of Horus with all his might. However, the Ultimate caught the attack with its other hand. Carter was flabbergasted as not only did the creature catch his fist, but it was able to withstand the gravitational force of the Claw of Horus. The ground behind Doomsday tore apart and crumpled from the claw, yet the creature was barely fazed.
With the hero in its grasp, Doomsday proceeds to slam Hawkman repeatedly over and over on the ground, making craters as a result. Carter tried to break free, but couldn't; the monster's grip was too strong and he was forced to endure the assault. After the fifth slam, Doomsday lifts Hawkman into the air before delivering a punch onto his chest. The hero coughed out blood as he felt his ribs break and organs bruised. Like that, Hawkman was launched through the air by the punch, breaking the sound barrier in the process. Crashing full force towards a rock pillar, the rock breaking into pieces as they fell on the Thanagarian.
Doomsday stood there, examining the situation, before letting out a roar, declaring its victory. Though it was far from over as the creature could tell that Hawkman was still alive. So it walked up towards the crash site to check on the hero and its assumption was correct. Carter was indeed alive, though barely. He was laying on the ground motionless, his body covered in rocks. He was breathing heavily as blood was coming out from his mouth. He was close to going unconscious. Seeing the state the Thanagarian was in, Doomsday decided to end their fight as it popped out its bone claws and aimed them at the hero.
"FIRE!!!"
Doomsday had no time to react as it was bombarded by gun fire and cannon balls, pushing it back. Ok the other side, the soldiers were giving it their all as they were firing everything they had on the beast.
"Keep firing! Get it's attention on us!" Twiggs shouted as he fired his own gun at the monster.
The constant barrage of long range attacks got Doomsday as it roared in irritation. Deciding to focus its attention on the group of soldiers now. Letting out a roar, Doomsday charged at them with its bone claws out.
"Okay, that's our cue to run!" Twiggs shouted with a hint of panic in his voice as he and his soldiers ran off, the monster on their tail.
Once the creature was far enough away, two soldiers came out from hiding and ran towards Hawkman. Carefully picking the Thanagarian up and carrying him over his shoulders. One of them examining the hero of his condition and such.
"Jesus man, Doomsday really wrecked him badly," one soldier commented. "It's a miracle that he's still alive."
"No kidding. Now let's take him back to the Safe Zone to get treated," the second soldier said as they walked their way towards the Safe Zone.
Back with the soldiers, they were currently running through a crevice, Doomsday still on their trail. The group hid behind some rocks as the monster fired its bone spikes at them. Most of them survived with only two unfortunate souls being killed.
"Shit, a part of me is starting to regret doing this plan," Twiggs uttered as he reloaded his gun with a new clip. "Oh well, there's no turning back."
Twiggs leaned out from his hiding spot as he shot at Doomsday's face with his rifle, same with some of his other soldiers. But the bullets bounced off the beast's face, only serving to annoy the creature more than anything. The Walking War Machine continued to fire off its range attacks: its bone projectiles, fire breath, and ice breath. And the soldiers kept on evading the attacks by either dodging, jumping to higher ground, or taking cover. This went on for a while as Doomsday grew more and more irritated. Eventually having enough, the Ultimate brought its hands apart before slamming them together, creating a thunder clap that sent off the soldiers back. Many of them hitting the wall of the crevice with a painful force, and a few dying from the impact.
Twiggs was one of the few to survive in the least injuries, though he could feel some of his ribs broken and his back badly bruised. As he was shaking his daze off from the attack, the general was greeted by the sight of Doomsday as it was slowly walking towards them, malice spewing out from its body. Its bones claws popping out with the intent to kill the remaining soldiers with them. Despite the hopelessness of the situation, Twiggs and the surviving soldiers responded to this by pulling out their guns, taking aim or pulling out their melee weapons, readying themselves.
Twiggs looked through his pockets and pulled out a new cartridge. "Damn… last one…" he uttered before he loaded it up into his rifle. "But it'll have to do…"
"Is this really it? We're finally going to be killed… by this beast?" one soldier pointed out.
"It seems so… but seeing as we're the last ones standing… I guess we can take some pride in surviving against the monster for this long…" another soldier commented.
"Either way… we die doing what we wanted… we die as soldiers… sacrificing ourselves to protect the weak. That has to count as something…" Twiggs added.
"Yeah… I guess so…" the first soldier replied.
After that exchange, Doomsday was closing in one them, letting out growls. Its stomps shake the ground around them. It's red eyes staring at the remaining soldiers with every intent to kill them in the worst ways possible.
"Well… it was a pleasure fighting with you all. Now let's make our final stand," Twiggs said as he placed his finger on the trigger of his gun.
The remaining soldiers nodded in agreement as they all prepared for their last battle. Doomsday is now only a few feet away. Looking like it was ready to pounce at them like a wild animal. The creature even looks like it was going to do just that. But then, something unexpected happened.
As Doomsday was ready to lunge at the soldiers, it felt something hit it in the back of the head. The creature immediately stopped in its tracks as it looked behind it to see what it was; finding a broken Nth metal sword. Curious, the monster looked further behind it and was greeted by someone it knew. Standing there was Hawkman, still tired and bloodied, looking at Doomsday with determination. A defiance to not let himself go unconscious as he was focused on fighting the monster head on. Though he wasn't in the best condition as he was using his Nth mace as support so that he wouldn't fall.
"Where the hell… you think you're going?" Carter uttered, still very much tired, taking deep breaths. "I didn't hear no bell."
The remaining soldiers, especially Twiggs, were shocked to see Hawkman here. Twiggs thought the two soldiers he assigned would have gotten the hero as far away from here and headed towards the Safe Zone. Yet here he was, still wanting to fight the creature with what little strength he had left.
"Hawkman? The hell are you doing here? What happened to those two men I sent to save you?" Twiggs questioned.
"…they're fine… knock them out and hide them behind a rock… but fine…" Hawkman replied, wiping some blood off his face.
"But why? We did all this to help you. We were trying to save you for what you did for us. So why waste it?!" Twiggs questioned in anger.
Hawkman took a few more deep breaths before he answered. "Listen here… while I appreciate the help, I didn't ask for it." He lifts up his mace as he gets into a fighting stance. "I'm a Thanagarian. An alien race that is all about war and combat. We live for the fight and die after one. And while it would pain me to die and leave my Shiera behind on her own, if I am to die on the battlefield, then I would be fine with it. I am a warrior. And I will die like one."
The soldiers were silent as they let those words sink in. Not expecting to hear Hawkman say all that. The first one to respond was Twiggs as he began to laugh hysterically, as if he heard a hilarious joke.
"God almighty, you are either the craziest guy ever or the most brave warrior out there!' Twiggs laughed before regaining his composure and picking up his rifle. "I can't help but like that from you. Even at death's door, you still fight like a warrior." Many of the soldiers agreed with Twiggs as they let out their own compliments.
Hawkman let out a chuckle before replying, "At least someone respects my ideals and my methods. So… are we going to fight this thing or what?"
Twiggs clocked up his gun as his fellow soldiers prepared their own weapons. "I'm down for it."
Hawkman, Twiggs, and the remaining soldiers got their weapons ready as they surrounded Doomsday, prepared for their possible ends in battle. The Ultimate let out a smile as to see its weak group of prey come close to it as to fight it. Even if its intelligence was low, the Walking War Machine felt gratitude as its prey was offering themselves up to be killed by it. And who is it to deny them their death wish. Doomsday opened its mouth as embers and soot were coming out from its mouth, about to use its fire breath. The others prepared for the worst, ready to fight with everything they have or die trying. The beast was just about ready to unleash its flames onto its foe and end this, until…
"SHAZAM!!!"
Out from the sky, a white lightning bolt came out from the sky and struck Doomsday. The creature roared in pain as electricity flowed through its body. Electricity was so powerful that it was bypassing its electrical resistance. As it was stunned by the lightning bolt, a red and white blur came out and tackled Doomsday, sending it towards a mountain, crashing into it and letting the behemoth of the summit crumple onto it.
The soldiers and Twiggs looked in shock by the sudden attack that just happened. Though they didn't get much time to see what it was as it moved so fast that their eyes couldn't see it. Hawkman was the only one that was calm as he knew who caused this and saw the person in question.
"Coming in late there aren't we, Billy?" Hawkman said.
"Hey, better late than never. And dude, don't expose my secret identity like that!" Shazam shouted, revealing himself to the group.
"You literally transformed from your kid self to your adult form in front of a crowd of people for shits and giggles. You have no one to blame but yourself," Carter pointed out.
"Okay, maybe you're right, but still," Shazam retorted.
Hawkman let out a little chuckle before he felt his body finally give in and was able to fall, only for Twiggs to catch him.
"Woah there. Easy there. You gotta feel like shit after all that," Twiggs said as he kept Hawkman steady. "Though I have to ask, was it really a smart idea to fight Doomsday in the state you were in?"
"Maybe not… but it was a lot smarter than what you all did. It was stupid and reckless for you all to decide to fight Doomsday like that," Hawkman answered.
"Like you're one to talk, Mr. Suicide," Twiggs argued, with the other soldiers agreeing with him.
"No, what I did was brave… what you all did is stupid…" Hawkman countered. "Now excuse me, the world is spinning…" Like that, Hawkman passed out, finally letting his body rest.
"Looks like the excitement finally got to him," Shazam said, relieved that the Thanagarian has finally calmed down.
"You said it. He's a crazy son of a bitch but I can't help but respect his warrior spirit. Not a lot of people are willing to keep fighting after seeing the brutality of a monster. Especially with that monster being Doomsday," Twiggs complimented.
"You do make a good point there," Billy agreed before he used his telepathic mind to reach towards J'onn. Giving him a quick message before turning back to Twiggs and his soldiers. "Okay, I gave my Martian friend a quick telepathic message to send Flash here. He'll take you all back to the Safe Zone. Just hang tight and rest. You guys deserve it."
"But what about you?" Twiggs asked.
"Oh, I'm going to fight that big ugly monster. You guys had your fun against Doomsday, now it's my turn to get in some action against that thing. Make him dirt and whatnot," Shazam said excitedly before flying off to face Doomsday.
"Huh, for an adult, he still acts like a kid," Twiggs bluntly pointed out before looking back on Hawkman. He was still tired with the only movement from him was his stomach raising up then down. The general couldn't help but chuckle, reminding himself that this was the same hero that went ballistic against Doomsday. And even when he was at death's door, Hawkman still continued to defy the beast to buy them more time, to save the innocent. He may be a reckless warrior, but he was truly a hero.
"Rest well, my friend. You deserve it. When this is over, I'll get you a mug of our best beer. On me," Twiggs uttered to Carter as he and his group waited for Flash to pick them up.
Going back to the Red and White Wonder, Shazam flew through the sky, killing a few flying danger beasts in the way, before reaching the rock wreckage that used to be a mountain. He floated in the air as he waited for Doomsday to come out. Looking around the area for any sign for where the creature is and when it could pop out.
"Come on, Big Gray and Ugly, I know you're around here. Come on out," Shazam uttered, waiting for the beast to come out.
After a couple more seconds of waiting, something jumped out of the rubble with a force and appeared in front of Shazam. That be a roaring Doomsday as it was attempting to stab the hero with its poisoned bone claws. The Captain knew what this creature was trying to do to him and he was prepared for it. Billy used his Speed of Mercury to evade the claws from reaching him and then appeared behind the Ultimate before punching the creature back down to the ground below.
"Dang, that monster knows how to catch you by surprise," Shazam uttered, his heart still beating from the surprise attack. "If I'm going to stall Mr. Boney, I need to keep its attention on me, but make sure it doesn't try to attack me too much."
Using the Wisdom of Solomon, Shazam devised a plan that could help him in this situation and how to handle Doomsday. With a plan thought out quickly, Billy flew down to face Doomsday. The creature was currently digging itself out from its crater, shaking dirt off it. Once out, the Ultimate looked around and saw the Safe Zone and even saw people there as they watched the battle unfold. Seeing its next prey, Doomsday ran off towards them for a slaughter. However, the creature was stopped as Shazam appeared and tackled Doomsday to the side, pushing it away from the Safe Zone.
"No way, Ugly. Your focus is on me and only me," Shazam as he used the Power of Zeus to blast a deadly electrical blast at Doomsday, paralyzing in place. Billy then used his Strength of Hercules to deliver a haymaker on the monster.
Doomsday felt its body burn from the powerful white lightning through its body, roaring in pain as a result. Though, through pure strength and stubbornness, the Walking War Machine broke free from its electrical prison. The creature then tried to fight Shazam as it swung its claws around at him. Though using his wisdom, Billy was able to evade and counter the attacks with ease before delivering a sucker punch to the creature's face, pushing it back.
"Come on, is that the best you got? My best friend can fight better than you and he needs a crutch to move!" Shazam boasted before immediately feeling regret. "Wait, would it be messed up to say that to Freddy?"
Doomsday responded with a roar filled with rage as it charged at the hero with bloodlust. Shazam quickly regained his composure as he evaded a punch from the beast. Then he blasted the creature with an electrical attack, stunning it. before flying off. Once the stun effect wore off, Doomsday let out a roar before giving chase.
The entire fight, Shazam attacked Doomsday from long range with his lightning powers. And if the monster got too close, he evades its attack and then punches the beast away from him. Billy made sure that the Ultimate kept its attention mainly on him and him alone. Even having him lure Doomsday further away from the Safe Zone. The Walking War Machine tried its absolute hardest to try and get a hit on the hero. Running up close or using its long range attacks itself. But Shazam simply flew out of the way or stunned it with his lighting magic. His speed was becoming an annoyance, especially with the child hero taunting him in the process.
"Hey, the 90's called! They want you back!" Billy shouted as he dodged a fire breath by flying.
The hero flew behind Doomsday as he grabbed his cape and waved it in front of the monster, like one does to a bull in a bullfight. "Toro! Toro! Try to hit the white cape!" Shazam taunted. As expected, Doomsday charged at him like an angry bull and tried to tackle Billy. But he was able to jump out of the way, letting the monster pass through his cape and hit a nearly rock pillar instead.
Doomsday stopped itself as the beast looked back to see Shazam, doing the floss dance. "Aww, what's wrong… can't hit me?" Billy said in a mocking tone.
This irritated Doomsday as the monsters jumped into the air to try and crush Shazam with its big arms. But Billy simply uses his speed and flight to move out of the way. The Ultimate let out a growl as it looked up to see the child hero, still mocking it with his childish jokes.
"You know it's funny that you're so bad and scary, yet you can't even fly! What, couldn't evolve wings!?"
Doomsday simply responded by shooting its heat vision at Shazam. But he was able to dodge the attack with little issue. Waving around in the air as the laser beams only slices through rock debris and trees. With an opening, Shazam went in and hit Doomsday with a ball of white lightning, shocking the monster once more and forcing it to the ground. The creature felt its rage grow higher and higher having to deal with this awful humiliation by the child hero. Only wanting to get a hold on him to kill him for good.
As it was trying to overcome the stun of the electricity and get itself up, Doomsday's ears caught something. With its ear pressed down to the ground, the beast could hear something 100 miles below the earth's ground. Something moving and flowing like water in a way. The monster recognized this flow and knew how it could use it to its advantage.
Doomsday's eyes glowed red as the beast shot his heat vision into the ground, letting it slice through the earth to reach its target. As the monster did this, Shazam looked at the sight with bewilderment.
"Okay what? I know you don't have a literal brain, but this is pretty stupid, even for you," Shazam commented in confusion.
Doomsday paid the hero no attention as it continued to laser blast through the earth's crust as full power. After about a couple seconds, the ground began to shake. To the point that it looked like an earthquake was happening. The ground even began to break apart, large cracks spreading throughout. Shazam even felt the air get warmer and saw steam come out of the cracks.
"Uh, this doesn't look good," Shazam uttered.
As he said that, Billy heard a rumbling sound getting louder and louder, as if something was about to come out of the ground. And like that, the entire area around them exploded, a pillar of hot magma and steam coming out from the ground, at full view for others to see. Doomsday having set off a hidden volcano in the very Earth with its heat vision. It was almost like a nuclear bomb being set off. Drops of lava and fire covered boulders rained down from the sky, burning and destroying anything in their way. The two sides of the danger beast armies either get burned to death by the lava or crushed by one of the molten rocks.
Aquaman was one of the many that was within its range. Though he was prepared for it as he summoned a large barrier of water with his left hand. Summon water from the ground, from his aquatic danger beast army, to even the air itself to form the barrier. Once it was formed, the barrier took on the full force of the molten rocks and lava with ease. Protecting himself and his army from harm.
"Such an unexpected event. Who could have caused this?" Arthur uttered to himself.
Back with Shazam, he was currently being blasted by the intense heat and fiery force of the volcanic eruption. This kind of blast would have been enough to kill anyone in an instant, but for Billy, he was able to endure it with no issue. The blast itself just shocked him at best.
"What is this? What is that monster trying to do by causing this?" Bill uttered as he tried to look for Doomsday. But couldn't due to the lava and heat blurring his view.
As he continued to look, Shazam failed to notice the black shadow coming at him from behind. The figure wasted no time and grabbed onto Billy by the legs, pulling the hero down to the ground. The two ended up cracking onto the ground, the lace still spewing out from the cracks and the heat making everything around them intensely hot. As Shazam tried to get up, the figure held him down by stomping on his legs and retraining his arms with its own. Once at a closer view, Billy was greeted by the monster that is Doomsday, looking at him with its hateful red eyes.
Shazam began to panic as he tried to break free from Doomsday's grasp. But the monster held on to him tight, gripping hard on the hero. No matter how much he tried, Billy couldn't break free. Even his Strength of Hercules wasn't enough to help as Doomsday was too strong.
With fear and panic filling up his mind, Billy did his best to calm down and use the Wisdom of Solomon to figure out how to get out of this mess. Focusing his strength on fighting against Doomsday to prevent this creature from breaking his bones. Shazam focuses his mind on coming up with a plan on how to deal with this situation.
'Come on, Solomon's wisdom, give me an idea I can use here. Or else I'm dead,' Billy said to himself.
After what felt like a long time in Billy's head, his wisdom finally came up with an idea he could use to get Doomsday off him. 'Okay, I can use that,' Shazam thought.
Wasting no time, Shazam got to work as he held onto Doomsday's arms and began to pull both of them into a large crevice near them. Once they entered, Shazam flew both of them deeper into the lava, breaking through any rock that passed them. The hero kept flying fewer and fewer down through the very earth until they reached the molten core of the volcano. Once there, Billy used his Power of Zeus to unleash a massive amount of electricity onto Doomsday. Damaging and burning the beast with the extreme heat of the molten core and the divine electricity of a god. Billy was relentless as he did not hold back, making sure this monster would feel pain, making sure it was unable to move so that he could break free. Which seemed to work as Doomsday was again stunned by the white lightning like before. Shazam felt Doomsday's grip begin to loosen, seeing his opportunity to escape from the monster. As he was about to break free, something unexpected happened.
Out of nowhere, Doomsday's grip tightened up once more. Holding onto Shazam's arms with more pressure added in. Billy was shocked by this sudden turn of events, questioning why this is happening, how any of this could happen. The monster shouldn't be able to move at all due to his white lightning shocking him. As Shazam was startled by all this, he was greeted by Doomsday, who was looking at him as it was slowly pushing through the electricity with ease. It finally hit Billy in the head on what was happening; Doomsday was slowly starting to adapt through the lighting of Zeus. Getting more used to it, becoming less painful than before. The creature made sure to demonstrate it as Doomsday gripped harder on Shazam's arm before bending it, breaking his arm, the broken bone showing.
Shazam screamed in agony, bubbles coming out from his mouth, from the pain he was feeling as the lava around him only made the wound burn more. Just then, Doomsday fired its heat vision onto Billy's head, aiming directly at his face as it tried to break the other arm.
However, despite the ungodly amount of pain he was enduring and the red laser blasting at him, Billy kept his will strong. His Wisdom of Solomon gave him an idea of what to do, a last resort that can help him escape his potential death. Using both the combination of the Stamina of Atlas, the Courage of Achilles, and the Strength of Hercules, Shazam was able to push through the heat vision with all his might. Once he gained his bearings, Billy head butted Doomsday, forcing the creature to stop its attack and dazing it. Enough time for Shazam to do the one thing he needed to do. Taking a deep breath and harassing every ounce of the Power of Zeus, Billy shouted a single word. His very scream rippled through the lava of the molten core.
"SHAZAM!!!"
With that single word screamed out, a huge white bolt of lightning came out from the sky, descending down through the very earth as faster than light speeds, passing through the lava flow before reaching the molten core. Shazam was quick enough to position him and the monster for Doomsday to be hit by the lighting bolt instead. The lighting shocked the monster to the point that its eyeballs burst into balloons. Not only that, but the power of the lightning bolt caused a massive energy to build up within the core. Causing the hidden volcano to explode.
The explosion creates a massive boom throughout the area, deafening anyone within its range. A ginormous pillar of lava and lightning shot out from the ground and into the sky, passing through the Exosphere. Multiple massive boulders launched like meteors into space. The lightning crackled throughout the sky and space. The very pillar could be seen by others thousands of miles away from them. Questioning what or who could cause something of this magnitude.
Back at the Safe Zone, the residents there looked at awe and uncertainty by the giant pillar of magma and lightning ascending far beyond the sky. Coming out of the medical tent, Chelsea appeared outside to check what caused the rumbling and loud noise that echoed through the air. She looked in shock and awe by the giant pillar. Trying to comprehend the very thing her eyes were seeing. Feeling so unreal; as something like this should not be able to be possible.
"My god… are the heroes really that powerful to do this?" Chelsea uttered, bewildered still by the power the heroes from another world possess.
Elsewhere with Batman, the Dark Knight along with Martian Manhunter, Dorothea, and Tyler looked in shock by the sudden lava pillar appearing out of nowhere, lightning striking at random. Tyler and Dorothea were especially flabbergasted by the very sight. They have seen many things that would be deemed extraordinary or nonsensical to achieve. Beings like Esdeath and Budo, or even the teigus were things that, while wild and out there, could be seen as something that could happen in their world or achieved due to how powerful the two people in question were. But this… this pillar of lava and lightning was deemed flat out impossible to be done. Not even the Esdeath, who was seen as the strongest of the Empire, could ever hope to dream of accomplishing a feat this grand. Yet here it is, at full display for the two to see. A feat achieved by a combination of one of the heroes and the monster known as Doomsday.
"Never in my life… would I expect to see this… this is insane…" Dorothea uttered in shock and awe.
"No kidding… it's like the gods themselves have ascended to our world… showing us mortals their divine power," Tyler replied as he felt his body shiver by the seer grandness of this feat. "Though with Doomsday, you could say he's a primordial monster that they're trying to defeat to save us. Just saying all that is weird enough as is."
"Believe me when I say that you'll get used to it after a while. I know me and my team have," J'onn said, his body wrapped up in bandages and ointments, sitting on the front seat of the Batmobile.
"He's right. After about the 50th time of seeing this, it becomes part of the norm," Batman said as he noticed the pillar was about to lose its structure, letting the lava and rocks fall back down upon them. "Though that pillar could cause unneeded damage if left alone like that. J'onn, send a telepathic message to Green Lantern to deal with this."
"Already on it," Martian Manhunter said as he contacted Hal with his telepathic mind.
Green Lantern got the message from the Martian and got to work. Killing a massive horde of danger beasts with a single green slash, Hal created a massive half cut tube construct, using it to catch the pillar of lava. Even making another green shield around the Great Valley to let the meteors break on impact. Once caught, Green Lantern guided the lava towards an empty barren wasteland. Creating a giant hole with a drill construct for the lava to go into. Once that was done, Hal took a breather as he examined his work.
"Ha… ha… I'm really being worked to the bone here," Hal uttered, feeling tired before turning to his power ring. "Ring, how much charge do I have?"
"Power level is at 41%"
"41? Damn… really wish I had a chance to charge this thing before coming here," Hal groaned.
Just then, more flying danger beasts appeared, heading towards Green Lantern to kill him. Hal cracked his neck and took a deep breath.
"God damn, there's no end to these guys. But whatever…" Hal said as he formed more gun constructs and took aim at the monsters ahead. "I have a job to do. And they are fun as hell to shoot at!"
Like that, Green Lantern fired his gun constructs, killing multiple flying danger beasts with ease.
Elsewhere in the Great Valley, at a scorched land, steaming out from it, with charcoal black wood all around, we find the hero, Shazam. He was currently laying on the burning ground in his adult form. His breathing heavy as he held onto his broken arm. His head was still stinging from the laser blast it took. Billy was in an awful state. And the worst part of it, he was trying to keep himself awake so as to not go unconscious or else he'll revert back to his true kid form. To not lose his invulnerability and be burned alive by the still hot ground.
"Gotta… stay awake… don't… fall asleep…" Billy uttered to himself, fighting back that urge to just black out. As he continued to lay on the scorching barren land, Shazam heard a familiar voice in his head.
'Shazam. Are you there? Can you hear me?'
Shazam let out a few coughs before replying with a smile. "Loud and clear, MM. Glad to hear… a familiar voice."
'And I am glad that you are still alive, my friend. What is your condition? And what of Doomsday?'
"Honestly, not too well. My left arm is broken, got a couple broken ribs, and I'm trying my best not to go unconscious here… so yeah, I had better days," Shazam replied. "As for Doomsday, I don't know. I guess the explosion… launched us to different locations."
'In that case, I will contact one of our leaguers nearby to get you. Get you to the Safe Zone to recover.'
"I would really appreciate that…" Shazam uttered.
As he said that, Shazam heard something. The sound of the ground rumbling with debris and dirt falling to the ground. In his curiosity, Billy looked to his left to see what the noise was. His eyes widened in horror by what he was seeing.
Climbing out from the black dirt and burning rock was Doomsday. The creature stands on its four limbs as it let its regeneration heal itself. It's hollow sockets quickly filling up with its red eyes. Once it was back to its prime, the Walking War Machine looked around to see where it was. Stopping when its eyes spotted the tried Shazam. The monster began to growl in anger as it got out from its hole and slowly stomped towards Shazam.
"Ah, J'onn? You mind getting someone to get me now? Doomsday's walking toward me. And he does not look happy," Billy uttered, starting to panic.
His fears would grow bigger as Doomsday charged up its fists and claws with its electricity. But his electricity wasn't his usual yellow. Instead, it was a white color, its power skyrocketing from what it used to be. Even having a god-like power presence to it.
"Oh fuck… it replicated Zeus's lightning. This isn't good…" Shazam uttered in terror. He wanted to move, to try and fight back. But he couldn't. He was already trying his best to keep himself in his adult form and had a broken arm, so had no strength left to defend himself.
Doomsday knew this as it started to grin, knowing that it finally had a chance to kill a hero. And it wasn't going to waste this opportunity. Standing above Shazam, the monster let out a roar as it brought down its electric claws to kill the hero. Billy closed his eyes, waiting for his death to happen, hoping that it was a quick one.
But after seconds of waiting, nothing happened. Curious, Shazam opened his eyes to see what was happening. He was surprised to see the electric claws of Doomsday, mere inches close to his face. Only to be stopped by what seemed to be a golden trident. Even Doomsday was shocked by this sudden turn of events.
Taking advantage of the shock, the trident flicked Doomsday's arm away from Shazam, pushing the monster back. The creature was then hit by a beam of water, blasting it away far into the distance.
Shazam was shocked, surprised that someone was able to save him from the near death of the monster. Wondering who his savior is, Billy looked up to see the figure in question. He was greeted by a friendly, familiar person.
"It seems that I had arrived at just the right time," the figure said cheerfully, revealing himself to be Aquaman. "It is good to see that you are still among the living, Shazam."
"Hehe, good to see you too, dude," Shazam replied. "Almost thought I was going to die back there… but you came at the right time."
"And I am indeed grateful for that. Though you seem to be in a critical state, my friend. You will need immediate medical help," Aquaman stated before using his marine telepathy to contact one of his aquatic allies.
Within a few seconds, a flying fish danger beast came out from the sky and appeared in front of Aquaman. The King of Atlantis petted the fish's head as he guided the danger beast close to Shazam before Arthur picked him up and laid him on the animal. Making sure that Shazam was fully secured on the flying fish.
"Rest well, my friend. You have earned it," Aquaman told Billy quietly, the boy hero smiling back before finally blacking out.
With that, Aquaman commanded the flying fish danger beast to fly off and head to the Safe Zone. Once they were a good distance away, Arthur turned around, walking in the direction where Doomsday was blasted at.
"For someone that is still a child, your heart is that of a brave man and strong hero. Sleep soundly, Shazam. For it is my turn to show this creature the power of a king," Aquaman uttered, cracking his neck and knuckles to prepare himself for the fight ahead.
Back with Doomsday, the creature was currently picking itself up from the ground, shaking off the water off its body. The monsters let out a growl as it felt its anger increase ten fold. Once again, it was stopped, it was pushed away before it could kill one of the members of the Justice League. Once more it was denied its chance to kill. And it was getting irritating for the beast.
As it was completely dry, Doomsday heard footsteps, as someone was approaching the creature. The Ultimate turned around to be greeted by the warrior of the sea, Aquaman. The hero staring down at the monster with a stern and readied look on him.
"So we meet once more, monster of the stars. You once more try to kill another planet for your never ending lust for blood. Once more, you destroy the lives of everyone here and you feel no remorse for it. Though I shouldn't expect that from a brainless creature like you," Arthur said boldly.
Doomsday said nothing as it simply looked with Aquaman with hatred eyes, growling at him.
"I have braved the deepest depths of the ocean floor many times, monster. I held my ground against the most inhumane creatures imaginable. The kinds that only appear in the darkest areas in the seven seas. Do you think I will run from you, while standing out in the sun?! Surrounded by the scorching lands we stand on?!" Aquaman said as he stabbed the end part of his trident to the ground, forming cracks underneath.
"BWAAAAAAAAA!!!"
Arthur wasn't even fazed by the sudden roar of Doomsday. Only looking unamused by the monster's response. "Heh. What use is there in boulsterness with an opponent that has nothing of wit to offer back."
Aquaman picked up his trident, twirling it around before pouring the weapon at Doomsday. "Nevertheless, I will do what needs to be done. I will be sure to keep you company."
Doomsday responded back with another roar, setting out its bone claws before charging at Aquaman. The King of Atlantis responded back he let out a yell of his own and charged with his trident. The two weapons collided, creating a massive shockwave that blew back whatever debris there was. As their weapons grinder against each other, sparks being made, Aquaman and Doomsday stared each other down with fierce determination. The battle between the Atlantean and the Ultimate had begun.
Aaaaaaaaannnnnnnd that's a wrap. Hope you guys are enjoying the League Members having their moments in this as they fight Doomsday. The other hand of the league will be fighting in the second half of this massive war so stay tuned for that.

The war against Doomsday and its danger beast army had finally begun. The Justice League arrives to fight back the monster horde while also saving everyone as best as possible. Though casualties have been seen as five heroes down for the count, with the Man of Steel currently healing in the heart of the sun. Can the remainder of the Justice League handle this war on their own until Superman comes back? Can Aquaman hold his own against Doomsday to buy time?
