"He must have been very powerful if he could cause a whole blizzard to stop," Past said as she looked at a snow flake suspended in the air. Holding out her hand to touch it. To her surprise it just floated away after she touched it. Shocked to find out even with her touch the ice crystals didn't melt.
Present just looked at the sky sadly. He could hear the wind mourning for the winter child. It was so sad his eyes started to water. He must have been a good friend. I will have to give her the news after we take his soul back to Death's domain.
While everyone was looking at the surroundings, Future just stood there, looking in the distance. He could sense something dangerous. It had the same dangerous presence he had sensed on the Sandman. What ever it is I don't feel any good intent from them. I must stay cautious just in case it gets any ideas.I'll keep it to myself, so there is no worry.
"Indeed, he was a powerful winter spirit," Grim confirmed after the three got a look around. "He was also chosen by the moon, which would double his magic in general. I would have liked to see how much power he would gain from a few believers, sadly that day will never come," Grim replied. The three looked at Grim in silence and with wide eyes. One thought on their minds, He was chosen by the moon?!
All around the snowy terrain was covered in a fog of frozen blizzard. But they all could sense the magic in the air pulsating into the earth. "So that's why the blizzard froze," Past whispered. Death closed his eyes as he took a deep breath in and out. His eyes opened and turned to a deeper part of the arctic.
Death took a few steps in the direction of what seemed like nothing in the fog. A few steps later a blue glacier, barely visible came into view. Past, Present, and future followed without a second thought in the direction.
A few feet later, around the corner, everyone could sense the tense slivers of magic in the atmosphere. Death continued forward to the ice.
Death looked down upon a sculpture of ice. It was shaped like a human. They all frowned at how he met his unfortunate end. The boys face was covered in sadness. The ice surrounding Jack was filled with sorrow and pain.
It was a horrible site for even the toughest of spirits even they would feel sorry for Jack's pain, for what ever that was, but no one can change the damage that's from the past.
"How long until midnight?" Death asked suddenly.
Future pulled back his sleeve and looked at his wrist watch. "Not long," He said with his eyes trained on the clock hands.
Death then kneeled down to the boys level. He looked so young even for a spirit. He smiled with sadness in his eyes. Looking around a little, Death began to get curious.
One thing he noticed was the spirits conduit was gone and around the boys chest was the most thickest ice, but it was cracked. I guess his ice took over from his emotions, and without his conduit the ice went straight to his heart. So that's why it was an accident and not a pacific death.
Grim took a long deep breath before looking back to Jack's face. "I hope you have a better life with us young one."
"It's time," the old man said as the clock was 100 seconds before midnight.
The three subordinates of death surrounded the Grim Reaper as he put his bone hand on Jack's head. The three kneeled down as they put their hands to the snow.
Death started to speak in the tongue of the dead and the living. Seconds later, magic came to life. The Grim Reaper then placed his hand on Jack's. The air was thick enough to cut through. As magic entered Jack's now visible soul body.
With a small yank, Jack's young soul separated from the body of where it once belonged. It looked like a normal soul, but it wasn't whole in their eyes. It was broken. The soul's face was blank, filled with no emotion. And souls normally talked and acted like their lives before their death, scared, happy, or mischievous. Either way it wasn't like that for Jack's. It was vacant, as if it were in a daze. Or like a disease that was slowly decaying the part that had once been full.
It was heart breaking for all four of them. Death firmly held onto the souls hand as he walked. The soul didn't walk with him or walk away it just let itself be dragged behind death. So back through the icy terrain they went.
As they travelled back, the snow began to fall slowly downward like it should. Approaching the portal Jack's soul form began to appear more life like. Right when he put his feet down putting Death to a stop the skeleton looked back at the soul.
Looking into the young blue eyes that finally had some light in them. Death smiled softly. Death could feel Jack's fear and nervousness.
Jack's eyes softened at the gesture. The boy smiled back slightly as his self began to shape and heal. This gave relief and reassurance that the boy could heal and recover even without memories.
The five then finally exited the icy arctic waters into the black and white portal. After they went through the vortex closed. Unknowingly to them except Future, someone was there watching from a far distance. But they didn't see who was holding Death's hand. Since only souls can be Seen by certain people or should I say spirits.
Author's Note
The reason they waited till 100 seconds before midnight is because that is the time of the death clock.
I will try and post more, but I am kinda in a crunch with school, work, sports, and est... I will try and finish this story soon.
Love ya guys.
Bye for now
