Chapter 21
Kagome's POV:
I led my father to the dining room table and sat at the head, offering him the seat to my right which he promptly took. "I only had enough time to make a simple shrimp fried rice."
"That's fine. It's what I normally order when I eat oriental anyway." He said.
I smiled, happy to have made something he liked, "I'm glad."
He smiled back at me, "So, what had you so busy today?"
"Oh just Shippo, he had me out and about with him. He was helping me furnish this place. We just finished building it nearly three hours ago." I told him proudly.
He looked around the house then whistled, "This is nice, but it didn't look like it had more then one or two bedrooms in it."
"It only has the one bedroom, but I made sure it was modified so that I could add on to it as needed." I said.
He looked around again then looked at me, "So, how exactly did you meet the Taisho cousins?"
I chuckled at that. With their drastically different looks they couldn't pass as brothers, so they decided on cousins. "I met them through Sesshomaru's little brother."
His eyebrows shot to his hair line, "Sesshomaru has a little brother?"
"Had." I corrected, "He died nearly a year and a half ago." In reality Inuyasha had died nearly three hundred years ago, but I couldn't tell him that. Not yet at least, not until I knew I could trust him with my everything. Sesshomaru told me that Inuyasha had died a honorable death, protecting his pack. I was heartbroken but I mourned him and moved on, just like I had preached to him.
My father winced, "I'm sorry, were you close?"
I nodded, "We dated for a bit but I had just ended up being a rebound from his girlfriend that had died. We ended up becoming best friends though. Shippo and Inuyasha were very close so we became close too. When Inuyasha started becoming a really bad jerk I found myself tired of all of his childishness. Sesshomaru and I became friends after that then started to think of each other as siblings. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha had never gotten along. Inuyasha had been the child their father had had with his mistress, so Sesshomaru didn't acknowledge him as family. They eventually reconciled with each other before he died. I had reconciled with him by then as well."
He finished the last of his plate as I was finishing my explanation. He sat there for a second thinking as I ate my food. "Wow. That's a lot to go through. Are you okay?"
"I have grieved, mourned and moved on from him." I smiled. I finished off my food and moved all of the dishes to the kitchen sink, my father grabbing some to help. I waved him over to the side door in the kitchen that led to the garage.
When we walked in, his eyes went straight to my baby and he whistled appreciatively, "Nice car!" I couldn't keep the grin off my face.
We then went straight to my little pet project for Souta, "My little brother was playing a video game and absolutely fell head over heels in love with the idea of having his very own hover board. I told Shippo about it and he said that he would sponsor the project if I made him one too."
My father chuckled at that, "What kind of thrusters are you using?"
"All the good ones are too strong." I whined. It was a wrap after that. We went straight into project mode and weren't heard from for the rest of the night.
