Chapter 22

Kagome's POV:

My father and I didn't end up going to sleep that night. We were still working when Pepper showed up around noon the next day, "I should have known this was why you didn't come back last night." Both of our heads popped up at her voice. She smiled at us and showed us the bags of food she had gotten for us. I jumped up and bounced over to her chanting 'food, food, food' the whole way. Dad chuckled following me and gave Pepper a 'thank you' for the food. I took one of the bags and led them inside to the kitchen. After washing up a bit in the sink, I got out plates and helped serve the food along with Pepper. We sat done at the table with me at the head, Dad to my right again and Pepper to his right.

"This is delicious Pepper, thank you." I spoke to her in English.

Pepper looked at her in surprise, "Your English is flawless, but why do you have a British accent?"

"Because Sesshomaru taught me English and he has one." I answered simply.

Dad looked pissed, "That asshole knows English!"

I chuckled, "He knows 16 languages."

"Then why does he insist on speaking Japanese?" Dad asked.

I shrugged, "Honestly, it's probably just because it annoys the hell out of you." Dad twitched and grumbled to himself.

We talked for a few hours before me and Dad got the itch to go back out to the garage. Pepper had just shook her head and called herself a car.

We went right back to it and weren't interrupted again until the sun had finished setting. This time it was by none other than Souta himself, "Oh My Kami! Tony Stark is in your garage!"

Our heads popped up again and I rolled my eyes, "What do you want Souta?"

He was completely star struck and my father was eating it all up like a greedy child, "What's up kid?"

Souta was practically bouncing in his spot, "You're Iron Man!"

My Dad chuckled at him, "Yep, how about when your sister and I finish up with this project, I'll show you my suit."

Souta was now officially bouncing and I could practically hear him squealing inside his head, "Oh My Kami! So cool!" I smiled at his excitement. "But what are you doing here? How do you know my sister?"

I visibly winced, which didn't go unnoticed by my father. I had been so caught up in finding and meeting my father, I had completely forgotten that Souta didn't even know we had separate fathers. I had always made sure he was at school, soccer practice or out with friends whenever I tried to talk with our mother about it. "Umm, Souta sweetie, there's a few things that you don't know about me." Souta's face became completely contoured with confusion. "I know you know all about my past where Inuyasha is concerned but what I'm talking about predates all that." Souta just nodded waiting for me to continue. I tried to think of the right way to put it but just decided to be blunt, "We have different fathers and Tony here is my real father." My Dad snorted and covered his face, trying not to laugh at my bluntness. Souta's face was completely blank and very pale. "Umm Souta?" He took off out the door.

I sighed and cradled my face in my hands. Dad came to sit by me and bumped me in my shoulder with his own, "So he never knew?"

"No we never told him and I always made sure he was out of the house when I tried to talk to Mom about you." I mumbled through my hands.

"Tried?" He asked.

I huffed lifting my head, "Yea. My mother and I don't exactly get along anymore. When I first tried to talk to her about you, she tried to play it off as me asking about her late husband. I, of course, didn't believe any of her b.s. and she refused to talk about it after that. I tried to bring it up a few more times, but when I went to her that last time, we both kinda lost our tempers." I chuckled then, "She started ranted and raving about how I was to much like you."

I could tell my Dad was trying not to laugh but when we made eye contact we both lost it. When we finally caught our breath, I laid my head on his shoulder and took his hand, "I love you, Daddy."

"I love you, too, sweetheart." He kissed my forehead, "Forever and always."
