Chapter 27
Kagome's POV:
We kept with the crowd rushing outside, trying to stay hidden. The Kami sent out illusions to trap the group we were escaping with, "Kneel!" We begrudgingly did as told, though Shippo looked ready to attack. I grabbed his hand trying to calm him, it barely worked.
The Kami started ranting about human submissiveness and an old man right behind me stood, "Not to men like you!"
"There are no men like me!" The Kami chuckled.
The old man smiled bitterly, "There are always men like you."
The Kami spread his arms, "Look to your elder people. Let him be an example." I reacted before my mind caught up with my actions. I shot up and blocked the blast he sent at the old man. The Kami's eyes widened then narrowed as he looked me over. His face turned into a snarl before he got ready to blast again.
Before he could hit me, a body from out of nowhere landed right in front of me blocking the second blast and sending it back to him. The body turned around to show that it was Captain America, "Are you alright, miss?"
I blinked at him then gave him the signature Stark cocked eyebrow, "Don't you think you should keep your eyes on your opponent?" Now it was his turn to blink, then he grinned sheepishly and went to fight the Kami. I shook my head at that. Shippo chuckled at me and I huffed, "And he is supposed to be our hero!"
Shippo chuckled again, "He's young, give him time."
"I suppose." We watch as they fought. I had to hold in laughter when my father showed up. The Kami surrendered and I walked over to them. "So how was your day?" I asked my Dad.
He whipped around to me, "Kagome! Are you alright?" He started using his suit to scan me.
"I'm fine! Jeez, put that away! He never even got close to me!" I scoffed, folding my arms and turning my nose up.
"Do you know her, Stark?" I heard the Captain ask.
"Yeah." We both answered at the same time, neither giving anymore information then that.
The Captain nodded, "Okay. Miss next time please reframe from putting yourself into the line of fire."
"WHAT??" My Dad was pissed.
"What exactly was I supposed to do? Would you have preferred that I let him kill that old man?" I fumed.
Shippo put his arm around my shoulder, "She has hero syndrome that she got from her father."
"That is besides the point." My Dad snapped.
"Can we take this argument into the plane, please?" The Captain said.
"She's not going!" My Dad and Shippo said at that same time.
I rushed over to the plane, "Am too!" I sat in a seat and strapped myself in with a cheeky grin on my face.
