Cara was watching the "Young and Beautiful" with dull eyes. She usually loved this show, but at the moment didn't know what was going on. Her cousin walked in the room and shut off the TV.

"That's it, no more television." Summer scolded. "Cara, why don't you want to come home? Lila invited you back with her."

"I can't." Cara couldn't. She was too frightened. Lila was in the clear, but she called Cara and told her that the DA and the feds were keeping her in hiding. Lila wasn't believed to be a target, but was in hiding herself. Only a select few knew where Lila was, her parents and Bruce. They made it look like both were staying at the Patmans, but the two women were just undercover lookalikes. Summer was a cop, she agreed to keep Cara at her place.

"You are welcome to stay, Aunt Jackie (Cara's mom) is glad you are okay. So am I. When I heard about that car crash, I was worried." Summer saw the footage from Bruce's camera. That truck was stolen, it was found washed up on the beach. The driver was smart, he was wearing a balaclava and dark glasses, how he managed to see, Summer had no idea.

"Thanks Summer." Cara was so glad her cousin was a cop. She watched as Summer got up to do her shift. "When will you be back?" Her cousin worked in the El Carro Tactical Unit at the ECPD in El Carro. She said she wanted to transfer back to the criminal department, there was talks that the Police Chief was retiring in a year.

"Midnight. Don't worry. Everyone in this building is in law enforcement, or in law. Nobody will be stupid to try anything." Summer tells a nervous Cara. She was twelve years older, but always considered Cara a younger sister. "I'll turn on the alarm, and I'll text you when I'm coming home." Summer gave Cara a Pay as You Go flip phone.

"Thanks Cuz." Once Summer left, she went to use the computer. Cara had a brand new email. Her and Lila created new ones since that night.

"What now?" Both Cara and Lila were standing on a bridge. They had no phones, it was too dangerous to keep them. As for Lila's Miata, they were leaving it here. Making their would be murderer wonder where they went. This bridge wasn't used often, but was the road to major highways, especially to Southern California and to Nevada. They were going to walk to a gas station, there was a payphone. Cara was smart, she carried cash, she was too spooked to leave a digital trail. Both hoped they won't be robbed, the area was shady.

It took them ten minutes to get to a gas station, there they called Cara's cousin. El Carro and Sweet Valley County borders were there. Summer was on patrol that night and picked them up after twenty minutes.

Once Cara explained what was going on, Summer called the SVPD, there they called the DA at his home. Both women weren't allowed to leave, it was too dangerous for them to be out of the open, instead they spent the night at the police station. Since the crime happened at Sweet Valley, the detectives allowed the DA to interview them in El Carro the next morning.

Lila was horrified to find out what happened to Bruce. That Porsche was him.

"Is Bruce alright?" Her fiancé.

"He's fine, just a mild concussion. He has to stay overnight under observation."

"Why Bruce? He has nothing to do with me." Cara felt so guilty.

"We don't know. We're still investing. However, we have the footage from the crash." Robert Mulder showed them the video.

The video showed Bruce driving, it was pretty uneventful. It showed Bruce turning on his car and driving off. His phone kept ringing, with Bruce ignoring it. Finally after the eighth ring, Bruce looked down to answer his phone. That's when the Miata appeared. Bruce picked up the phone just as Lila's car appeared in view. Then they heard Bruce swearing, just as the Miata swerved out of the way. Lila teared up hearing the crash. The tape ended right there.

"God." Cara felt awful. But when she heard Lila hyperventilating, she wrapped her arms around her. "Breathe Lila breathe." She was worried Lila will lose the baby. "Bruce is a stubborn man. I know him. He won't give up that easily, especially with his bride and cousin that need him." Bruce changed since high school. He was fiercely overprotective of his family. She held Lila till she calmed down. "Your baby needs you. Your parents." Thankfully Lila calmed down, but the DA insisted they both go to the hospital to get checked out.

Thank god Lila was okay, she had no scratches or bruises. But the doctor who examined her insisted she get a much needed rest. No stress, especially since Lila's pregnancy was considered high risk. The DA wasn't happy that Lila couldn't testify, even if she could, Cara refused to have Lila as a character witness. Same with Bruce. He was an innocent man. Cara was willing to let Karl walk, if it meant her friends were safe. As for herself, she was allowed to stay in El Carro, with her and Lila's lookalikes staying at the Patman Manor.

'How's things?' Cara typed to Lila. Both had super generic emails.

'Fine. It's lovely in LA.' Lila was staying at the Ritz-Carlton in the executive suite, her parents were coming to join her. Bruce wanted to follow her, but he couldn't leave his cousin. Since they had to make appearances, George was going to act like he was going on his work trips. Luckily, he had tons of business contacts in Los Angeles. No one will question his wife following him. 'How's things?'

'Can't complain.' Cara realized she was lost. She was totally on her own. No career, no Marco, no home, and other than Summer, no family. She refused to put her parents and brother in danger. She told Lila she was signing off. She needed a drink. Good thing she knew where Summer kept her liquor.
