Chapter 320 The Shadow Of Salazar Slytherin

What was revealed about the mystery of a thousand years ago was just the tip of the iceberg, but things were becoming increasingly complicated.

Through these ancient murals, Evan finally discovered what he was up against.

However, he realized that the doubts in his mind were not diminishing. In fact, he had even more questions.

In any case, Salazar Slytherin's final act was too suspicious. Evan tried to recall his life story, but found that in all known historical facts, only his involvement in establishing Hogwarts was detailed.

There were barely any records of Slytherin's experiences as a teenager and after leaving Hogwarts, which, like the darkness before him, was a complete mystery.

Evan gazed at Slytherin's Locket with a faint green light in his hand. Besides being a Horcrux of Voldemort, it also concealed even more astonishing secrets.

In the darkness, Malfoy let out a painful groan, interrupting Evan's thoughts. As he turned his head, he saw Malfoy lying on the floor in agony, his pale face covered in tiny beads of sweat, as if his terrible nightmares had reached their peak.

Evan knew he had to act quickly. With the help of Slytherin's Locket, he could continue to resist the monster, but Malfoy could hardly bear it.

If this continued, his soul would be devoured by the nightmare while he slept.

Evan lifted his head and gazed at the monster looming above.

It waved its tentacles, with huge eyes fixed on him and the Locket in his hand.

Its eyes were cold and devoid of emotion, like those of a dead person.

According to the message left on the rock wall, the monster's enormous and ugly body and its constantly flailing purple tentacles were nonexistent shadows.

Above him, only those gigantic red eyes were real.

Since entering the stone chamber, Evan had never looked at them.

Whenever he tried, he quickly averted his gaze.

The disproportionately large eyeballs and thin pupils above exerted a chilling oppression, as if they could awaken hidden fears deep in the heart.

Evan knew he could not falter. He had to force himself to look into its eyes, even with the protection of the green mist in front of him.

The "Horcrux" remained in a trance.

"Salazar Slytherin..." The whisper came intermittently.

A limitless resentment towards Slytherin could be perceived in its tone.

Even if a thousand years had passed, this resentment had not diminished at all.

"Lost sheep, you are futilely struggling, resisting your fate firmly, as if you could truly change it all, but you do not know that you are already going astray..."

"Quiet, you have spouted enough nonsense, and my fate will be in my hands," Evan responded calmly. "I will not lean on others, let alone believe in a monster like you who only has eyes left."

He quickly moved his wand, and a red light shot up swiftly.

"No!" The horrific monster emitted a piercing scream that reached the soul.

Evan held his breath and stepped back. The wand in his hand did not stop, spells were rapidly recited, and curses were directed at the monster's eyes.

Bang, bang, bang!

Under Evan's attack, its body rapidly disintegrated.

The shadow became blurry, and the rough, shattered body finally disappeared. Above Evan's head, only two enormous white eyes remained exposed, and a mass of decaying flesh mixed with red blood vessels and muscle fibers were firmly attached to the ceiling.

In the disproportionately large eyeballs, the red that Evan always saw occupied only a small part, less than a tenth of the whole eye.

"Descendant of Slytherin, you will have to pay for what you have done!" She stared intensely at Evan, and the voice from nowhere not faded, but grew louder. "Since you do not want to obediently surrender your soul, I will devour it by force!"

Her voice barely faded, and the entire space began to tremble.

The ground shook; cracks appeared in the rock walls. The murals on them shattered and peeled off, and a loud roar emerged from the depths of the earth.

The thin pupils tore, and the huge eyeballs split in half.

Evan stepped back and gazed at the monster in disbelief.

As one of the fiercest monsters, it had a terrible impulse. Two massive cracks formed in the midst of the eyeballs, covered with long sharp fangs. Inside them was mucus, beyond which lay endless darkness.

Evan could barely fathom what the monster was transforming into.

This was just the power of the eyes. If its body were present, Evan knew he wouldn't even have a chance to counterattack. Such a powerful and malevolent monster had been defeated by Salazar Slytherin in his youth a thousand years ago when he was at the peak of his power...

The two eyes swung and fell from the ceiling wall.

They floated in the air, opening huge bloody cracks, and flew towards Evan.

Evan quickly retreated, uncertain of what kind of magic to use to confront them. The existence of this monster itself was beyond his understanding and all common sense.

He waved his wand and cast a few spells, but they did not work.

The ferocious monster was getting closer to him. Just when Evan thought it was all about to end, all his magic suddenly overflowed and filled the Pendant in his hand.

The Slytherin Pendant floated slowly, and the emeralds embedded in it shone brightly. Even the strange inscriptions around it gleamed in dark gold.

That seemed to be a sign. A white halo was gradually emerging over the rock wall.

The closed stone door suddenly opened, and the statue of Slytherin in the outer hallway also glowed brightly.

The white platytones floating in the cave rapidly descended, like a school of fish migrating in the deep blue sea. They spun down swiftly and surrounded Salazar's statue.

Clusters of silver, green, and golden light gathered at Evan's location, merging with the green mist around the Pendant.

They finally fused gradually into a shape, and a humanoid virtual figure appeared in front of Evan.

It was a handsome 15-year-old youth, dressed in a medieval wizard robe, with hair as black as jade and a pure white wand in his hand.

"Salazar Slytherin..."

As Evan recognized him, the monster in front of him also whispered.

It did not continue attacking Evan but turned around to resentfully gaze at Salazar's shadow.
