Journal Entry #3
I decided to change it to "Entry" since I can't write a journal every day and there's a good chance I'll get lazy and not write at all. I also forgot to write last night, so I'm currently writing during the day while walking. I got really lazy earlier, so I couldn't write then. Right now, it's afternoon; we just finished lunch in the cafeteria. To summarize, the principal decided to let us head home. The bus journey back was pretty boring compared to going to Vermillion, even with the Professor being with us.
It's a bit hard trying to write while walking, but I'm not worried about anyone looking at me as I write. I am 100% careful on the roads. Also, my mom couldn't bring me home because she's somewhere else, and I can take a walk home. It's only like 20 minutes, so not that long. Now, time for me to write about some topics and things I learned, and to recap.
Today is April 12. School break happens sooner compared to other regions like Sinnoh. In Kanto, the breaks and the start of the league season begin on May 1, which is nice. I am impatient to become a trainer, though I have been reading books and online guides about being a trainer, the dos and don'ts.
Now, first topic: the internet, or pokenet. It looks primitive and seems to be from the 2000s to 2010s here, and very interestingly, the year here is 1998. Very cool indeed. For some reason, memes aren't a thing here. I haven't seen any images or content that resemble memes despite the pokenet existing. I may as well milk this and become the father of memes, and have this forever told in the history books.
Next, the calendar. It's pretty much the same, and Christmas exists. So is there a relation to this world and my old world? Honestly, I believe so, since the creation trio has access to the multiverse. There may be some connections.
Back to the previous topic from the previous entry: the technology. I'd say shit is advanced here; however, devices like phones and entertainment gadgets seem less advanced and primitive. They have touch screens, but it seems the research in technology is more prioritized for more important devices like Pokegear, Poké Balls (Master Ball?), and other things.
Next, the PC box. Honestly, I'm glad this thing does not exist (yet, maybe). I am not very keen on the idea of storing Pokémon as computer data in a storage system. I would rather put them in a ranch or pasture to breathe actual fresh air and not as computer data in a storage system.
For the Transfer system, once you reach the limit of 6, the 7th Pokémon you capture will be transported to a ranch or pasture. Well, if you own one or are sponsored, then your captures will be transported. For those not sponsored, the 7th Poké Ball shrinks and becomes locked, which I do not like, but at least it's better than the PC box. There's an option to release the Pokémon, and you can still get the Pokémon out by going into Pokémon Centers or rented pastures. Most lack the transfer system, but at least there's that.
Next, Rotom devices. Things like Rotom Pokédex, Rotom phones, etc., do not exist just yet, probably until the events of USUM or maybe after the events of the Kalos crisis. Damn you, Lysandre. Bit unfortunate, but I can still live with it.
Now, finally, life stuff and life experiences:
Last night was normal, ordinary sleep. No weird dreams or visions at all, unlike last time. I could swear time went fast when I slept last time. Maybe just me being high?
The Xatu told me about psychic/mental shields. Apparently, my memories are protected by a powerful psychic. From my own observation, the Xatu didn't pick up my thoughts of me living a secon—oop, almost bumped into someone—second life. So, there is some sort of thought filter? Whoever did this, god bless you or Arceus bless you. Anyway, that's enough writing; almost home now.
"Finally arrived home," I said to no one in particular.
The house is your regular single-family home with only a single floor, nothing fancy. The door is probably locked, but I know where the hidden key is. Right inside a big bush shaped like a Psyduck in our front yard, I took it, inserted the key, and got inside.
Everything seems to be in order, all clean and tidy. I wonder where Dad is right now; he hasn't been present for the past week, and I'm getting slightly concerned. Hopefully, it's just important work and nothing else.
Anyways, I went to my bedroom, got all of my stuff out of my bag, then finally changed clothes. Not going for pajamas yet; it's still afternoon, so I may as well take a walk downtown. I am absolutely bored right now.
Just as I was about to head out of my room, I heard a knock on my window.
"Uh, Pidgey? Which Pidgey is this?" I asked.
I opened the window and immediately met with mild winds, which caught me off guard. "Was that Gust?" I asked in surprise.
"Well, of course, and also I'm the number one best Pidgey, same one where we talked near your school before you went on a—uh, school trip, I think?" he said.
I sighed. "Okay, cool, you're that Pidgey, and I think I need to give you a na—" I got cut off.
"Pfft, your naming sense is horrible. Last time you suggested 'Airchopper,' you didn't even know its meaning, and you just found it cool, but it's trash to me," he proceeded to giggle after saying that, then continued, "You even suggested naming my sister 'Birb.' That's plain bad; she even rejected it," he finished.
"Okay, fine, just give me time to find a good name that you will find cool," I said.
"Doubt it."
"Whatever. Anyways, I'm going to take a walk downtown and observe to see cool things, I guess. And no, I'm not doing anything weird," I said to Pidgey.
My good friend Pidgey looked at me for a moment. "I find humans weird, but you're the weirdest one we've met so far."
Pfft, wait till he sees Ash's shenanigans in the future, I thought. "Fair, after all, I understand Pokémon for some unknown reason," I chuckled. "Anyways, I'mma head out."
"Hey, can I join?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure, feel free to. Are you gonna fly and follow me?" I asked.
"No, I'm going to sit on top of your head," he chirped.
"Um, okay then, but first let me get some money my mom and dad left for me in case I want to buy some things."
As I headed outside, he landed on my head, which, to be honest, is cute. Tiny little birb sitting on my head, joining the town walk with me.
Pallet is actually bigger here compared to what was shown in the anime and Pokémon Origins. Despite that, there's barely any vehicles passing by, not even motorcycles. Most of the time, I see a vehicle passing by the police force, mostly Officer Jennys and their trusted Growlithe partners. And it's honestly weird how they all look almost the same, yet everyone didn't question it. May as well get used to the norm here.
As I entered downtown, people and Pokémon are now more numerous. Everyone is busy, from bakeries, to services, and many more. I decided to buy some bread and ice cream for myself and, of course, some simple bird food for Pidgey. I decided to sit on a bench, relax, and observe my surroundings.
I can't really talk much with Pidgey; it makes me look like a silly kid in public, and I have to keep this ability of mine a secret in case any super secret evil organization comes at me. Pidgey does understand and knows that I can't talk with Pokémon much in public and accepts my reasons. It is normal for people to talk with Pokémon, but with me seeming like I actually understand them, it would cause some issues, that's for sure.
As I continued eating bread after finishing my cookies and cream ice cream, I looked around to find anything that could pique my interest or maybe see if there's anyone I know walking around here.
"Wait, is that you, Genera?" I heard a familiar voice.
I turned around, and it was Gary. What's he doing here?
"Gary? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with your grandpa helping?" I gave him a curious look.
"Yeah, I am. Got a small errand to do by getting a parcel from the post office here and delivering it to Gramps," he answered, which he then noticed my Pidgey. "Oh, is this your Pidgey?" he asked.
"Well, more of a poke-friend. Too young to own a Pokémon, and I don't even have a Trainer ID," I answered.
"Huh, cool. You're similar to Ash with all his attempts at befriending Pokémon. Sometimes he fails and gets attacked by a Pokémon, pfft, it's funny," he laughed. "Anyways, gotta go now. Smell ya later," he finished.
"Huh, must be important then," I murmured.
As he walked away to finish his errand, I continued eating and minding my own business.
Suddenly, someone tapped on my shoulder, startling me a bit. I turned around to see an old bald man. Wait, this is the same man in the bakery where I bought some of my bread.
"Hey, young man, sorry if I'm disturbing you and your little friend there, but could you please help me replace a broken lightbulb?" he politely asked, then chuckled. "I'm too old to even climb up a ladder, and don't worry, I'll hold it for your safety," he politely said.
"Um, okay, sure," I accepted.
The bench I sat at was in front of this old man's bakery, so Pidgey can just stay there and watch me help. As we went inside, I could see a light bulb flickering. Yep, seems broken to me.
"Here, have these gloves for safety. They are oversized for you, but sadly I don't have any spares in the same size," he said.
"Uh, it's fine, I guess. Better safe than sorry," I replied.
"Alright, alright, good luck, young man," the old man chuckled.
As I climbed up, I turned it off and then carefully replaced the broken light bulb with a new one. The oversized gloves were in the way, but I still pulled it off and successfully fixed this bakery's light issue.
As I finished, I went back down and gave the gloves back to the old man.
"Thank you very much for helping me, young man," he said gratefully.
"You're welcome. Glad to help!" I replied.
"Ah, the loud voices of the youth. Here, have this free bread with some cheese inside and a portion of cash," he rewarded me, which caught me off guard.
"Wha—really?" I couldn't believe it; he's too kind.
He chuckled. "Oh yes, I mean it. Here, have these, young man. Clearly, you love my bread, since you bought like 15 of them and ate most of them already."
My mouth gaped wide in shock. I then composed myself. "Thank you so much! You're too generous!"
"No problem, young man. After all, good deeds should be rewarded, and this cash will help you out next time you come back buying food from other shops or maybe any toys."
As we went outside, I bowed to the old man, and he laughed, saying there's no need to be formal.
As I got back to the bench, Pidgey had finished eating all the seeds for flying types. Took him long enough.
"Hey, Genera, somebody tried to take away your remaining bread, but I scared him away!" Pidgey chirped loudly.
"Um, thanks a lot. Anyways, I got some bread and money for myself; the old man rewarded me for helping," I replied.
"Whoa, that's nice of him."
"Yep, I'm having a great time!" Anyways, enough talking.
As I finished eating the last remaining bread from before, I noticed the sun was beginning to set, so it was getting late. Looks like it's time to go home.
"Well, Pidgey, it's getting late now; I have to go home," I said.
"Oh, that sucks. Thanks for the great food, by the way!"
I chuckled and petted him. "You're welcome, Pidgey. Glad you liked it."
Then we parted ways. I arrived home without incident, entered my home, and turned on the lights. I know how to cook and wash the dishes myself. I'm still alone, though. Before I went to cook, I went to my computer to contact Mom since my shitty phone's camera is broken.
Mom couldn't answer the call but texted me back that she's very busy right now and can't come home, same with Dad. More busy than usual, but still wishing me good luck home alone. It's a bit worrying that there's no Pokémon to protect the house from intruders, but I don't think anything bad will happen, hopefully.
Came back to the kitchen to make a simple small salad for myself. I already ate so much bread that my stomach is almost full, that's for sure. The bread the old man gave me is on the kitchen counter along with the fruits and vegetables.
I went back to my bedroom and turned on my computer. I decided to check random forums out of boredom since there's nothing else for me to do here in the house.
Pokémon Trainers Hangout
No kiddies allowed, age 10 and above only
WARNING!
No underage allowed! This forum only accepts 10 years of age and above!
Yes, I am old enough.
No, I am not old enough and return to forum lists.
Eh, ignore their rules. Their verification system is garbage. Just a press of a button telling if you're underage or not, got in without problems. As long as no one suspects or any slip-ups, then I'm all good. I'm not gonna chat anyways.
Green4all: Haven't been to Hoenn before, only Sinnoh. Shit's cold there.
ContestedBeautyMons: It's hot here. There are deserts, and also there are contests here too! Try 'em out.
Green4all: Hm, I'm a battler and only did the gym run in Sinnoh.
ContestedBeautyMons: Shame. Your Pokémon needs some flashiness. Trust me, you will love it.
Green4all: Maybe one day when I visit Hoenn.
Justin888: Contests are trash, completely boring.
Green4all: Whoa, chill there, buddy. I may not be a Pokémon Coordinator, but have some respect.
ContestedBeautyMons: No, they aren't!!!!
Justin888: They are fucking shit. Obviously, battles are better in every way possible. Only kiddies like 'em.
IloveLance2: @Justin888 Verbal warning, please be respectful in this forum. No such toxicity allowed.
Justin888: I'm merely speaking the truth here. Coordinators are obvious babies. Nobody likes contests. They are shit, PERIOD.
@IloveLance2 banned @Justin888 Reason: Toxicity not allowed and ignored the warning
Wow, that Justin guy was going crazy about the contests. Lol, he deserved the ban, though.
ContestedBeautyMons: Thanks for banning that jerk.
DarkTypeDrake: That guy really hates contests, lol.
Green4all: Not a Coordinator, but damn, he went too far, huh?
JohnGalvanized: Tried out the contests in Sinnoh a year ago. It was fun. I only got 3 ribbons, but it was fun trying nonetheless.
ContestedBeautyMons: See? They're good!
Green4all: Yeah, yeah, I will try them out in the future. Maybe I'll do a gym run and a contest run too.
JohnGalvanized: Tf? Only people like Wallace are insane enough to pull that off, lol. Gym run is hard enough, and combining it with a contest run, your brain will blow up for real.
ContestedBeautyMons: Ikrrr, just try out contests only.
JaketheTrainer: Tried both, and no shit, it was insanely hard. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough badges to enter the Ever Grande Conference, but I did get all ribbons to participate in the Grand Festival. I lost, but it was fine. At least I got to participate.
Green4all: You know what? Screw it, I'm going for both. Sounds like a fun challenge.
JohnGalvanized: You are insane for thinking it will be a "fun" challenge.
JaketheTrainer: Just let him try, lol. Good luck, fam, when you do it in Hoenn.
DarkTypeDrake: Back, was feeding my team. What did I miss?
I laid back on my plastic chair, feeling amused by the messages, especially the ones from Justin ranting about contests being shit.
I sighed. "Man, I'm bored. I don't want to sleep; it's Saturday tomorrow anyway," I told no one in particular.
Suddenly, I heard a ping notification from my computer. It was from one of my friends, Jeffrey. I checked the PM from him.
Future_Shocker: Yo, isn't it your birthday tomorrow? I am 100% sure you forgot about your birthday since you put all your efforts into studying.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I completely forgot. How the hell did I forget my own damn birthday? Heck, it's happening tomorrow!
GeneranPallet: Oh, for Ho-Oh's sake, I actually forgot. I'm thanking you a lot for reminding me. I can't believe I completely forgot about my birthday.
Future_Shocker: Honestly, you should start paying attention to yourself. You're focusing so hard on school to the point you're blind to yourself.
Damn it, Jeffrey's right. I must have been overthinking so much about my future.
I sighed. "I'll take your words, man. I got to fix myself."
GeneranPallet: Yeah, you're right. I'll take your words for it. Thanks for calling me out.
Future_Shocker* No problem, Genera. You need to start taking care of yourself. Anyways, I have to sleep early. We'll be gone at 2 a.m. because we are having a massive reunion in Johto. Have fun while I'm gone, bro.
GeneranPallet: Well, have fun on your visit! :D
I laid back in my plastic chair once more, thinking about myself. I have been given a second chance, accidental or not, and I'm supposed to make the best out of it, to be the bes—no, screw that overused phrase. Well, maybe it is true; I have to be the very best at something.
Yet, I didn't, and Jeffrey called me out on it and suggested I should prioritize more on myself. I am an idiot. I need to rethink my life choic—wait, I'm overthinking again. Okay, taking a deep breath, maybe doing simple things and making decisions is all I really need.
I took a long sigh. "I have a feeling something bad happened, so I will have crazy character development type of shit," I said.
Moments later, I heard a faint sound of a police siren, and from the sounds of it, it was getting louder and closer to my home. I looked outside the window, which leads to the front yard. I could see the police coming in with two police cars.
Just a minute later, they arrived in front of the house, and I heard a knock from the police.
"Genera? The police would like to talk with you," I heard an Officer Jenny say outside.
I immediately went to the door, fearing I had committed a crime. As I opened the door, I saw the police officers, including Officer Jenny, with frowning and grim faces.
"Uh, sirs? Did I do something wrong?" I fearfully asked.
Officer Jenny sighed. "Genera, we are sorry to tell you… your parents were murdered."
I was in shock. How, why, and who killed them? Why fucking them?!
"Wh- who did it?!" I demanded, in shock from the police announcing the death of my parents.
"Team Rocket," Officer Jenny answered hastily.
"Why..." I began to cry. Just why my goddamn mom and dad?
"We don't know as of yet. We are currently investigating the crime scene," she sadly replied.
Hours later...
Jeffrey's POV:
Ah, good morning, Johto. Feels nice to be back here in Johto. "Hey, Dad! What will Big Bro Joe bring this time?"
Jeffrey's dad chuckled. "More presents and SHOCKING minigames, of course! He's an Electric-type specialist, so obviously, he's going to do that again."
We arrived at the Golden Hotel in Goldenrod City. I could see my distant cousins chatting near a pool. I turned in another direction and saw Big Bro Joe showing off his Jolteon and, of course, doing poses.
"Jeffrey, why don't you talk with your cousins or anyone here?" Jeffrey's mom said.
"Nah, I'm a bit tired of standing and walking for the past hour straight. Can I at least sit in a fancy chair?" I replied.
"Oh sure, I guess we can do all the talking later. Seems like you are exhausted. Here, have this apple juice," Jeffrey's mom said.
"Thanks, Mom."
As I sat on a fancy chair, it was comfortable. After all, this is one of the most famous and luxurious hotels Johto can offer. Only the rich can afford such luxury services this hotel offers!
I looked at a TV out of boredom. Some random news in Kanto, all full of boring events.
What felt like 3 minutes later, just me listening to the news. After an ad break finished, the TV reporters suddenly had serious expressions. Did something bad happen back in Kanto?
"Breaking news: Famous Silph Co. researchers, the well-known Jensons, murdered by Team Rocket on a road highway in Viridian Forest!"
"WHAT?" In shock, my parents nearby heard my reaction and immediately came in to see what was wrong.
"Jeffrey, what's wrong?" They both asked in unison.
"Genera's parents got murdered by Team Rocket!" I said out loud.
I could see the shocked faces of my parents. They too were shocked at this news. A moment later, we went silent to listen to the news.
"According to the Viridian Police Department, there was evidence of Team Rocket grunts. There are four Team Rocket caps lying a few feet from the damaged car. Our reporter will give us sights at the crime scene to give us further information."
"Mister Jack here reporting. From the ongoing investigation, there are burnt documents," the reporter took a picture from a police officer and showed it on camera, "which on top barely reads 'Top Secret.' Unfortunately, the rest are gone, and only the first and its top remains."
The reporter continued, "The experts believe Team Rocket is after a top-secret project that Silph Co. is secretly developing without us knowing. Tomorrow, Silph Co. and its top members will be interviewed and protected by both the police and the League."
The news anchor asked, "How are the bodies of Mister Jenson and Miss Jenson?"
"Their bodies were retrieved later this morning. According to the reports, the bodies had multiple burns and bite wounds from Pokémon attacks," the reporter answered.
"Did the Jensons have any Pokémon to defend themselves?"
"Unfortunately, no. They didn't have any from the reports and looks of it. If they did, there would be remains of their Pokémon."
I decided to stop listening. Mom and Dad were still listening to the news. On your own birthday, Genera?
I sighed. "Wish you a swift recovery, bro. Holy Mew, that's just tragic and unlucky."
Genera's POV:
"MOTHER!" I woke up and screamed.
As I calmed down, I thought, That dream again… I looked around, realizing I was in my bedroom, and tried to recall what happened last night.
I remembered crying so hard I fell asleep. They must have carried me and placed me down in my bedroom. Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming from outside the door.
The door opened to reveal Officer Jenny. "Genera, are you okay? I heard you scream."
"Officer Jenny?"
Officer Jenny smiled and tried to comfort me. "I was ordered to accompany you for the time being. I heard you scream, so what was that about? Are you okay?" she asked.
I composed myself. "Yea—I'm fine… I guess it was just a bad dream…" I stuttered, tears still visible in my eyes.
"I see. Look, I know you miss your parents dearly already. You can grieve, but please don't hurt yourself, okay?" she comforted me.
"O-Okay…"
"Good. Anything I should know here?" she asked.
"I-It's my birthday today…" I said.
"Oh? Happy Birthday then!" she said in a cheery manner, probably to try to cheer me up after the shit news. "And no worries, I'm gonna call everybody to give you surprises. I'm sure it will make your day," she finished.
It definitely worked in making me happy. "Thank you so much!"
"I will be heading off to tell people. I will make sure to make it a lifetime memory for you," she said happily.
As she left, leaving me alone in the house, I thought, is someone gonna jump in and kidnap me? Ugh, enough of that Tauros shit. The dreams, it happened again… felt like falling underwater and calling someone…
I cleared up my leftover tears with a towel. I guess it's just best for me to stop questioning things at this point, I thought. I wish this was all a big horrible dream, but it's not.
