And here we go, into an arc that I've really been looking forward to covering for a very long time, featuring an event that I've been waiting to write about since the beginning of this story. One of my major goals, one of my biggest moments...
I present to you: Let There Be Carnage!
Carnage and its army of Symbiote zombies begin their assault, and the heroes are quickly overrun and overwhelmed by the horde of monsters. Spider-Man and Woman try to go up against Carnage, but Peter is attacked by Red Goblin and Demogoblin, and Spider-Woman is almost incinerated by the increasingly manic Dabi, who goes to attack Dabi once more.
Carnage's Symbiote army is mad and cackling, and they are all baying for blood, eager to bring death onto everyone.
The battle turns against the heroes, and they begin to lose many of their numbers. Mirko, despite her strength, is grievously wounded and forced to retreat, dragging a mauled All Might away with her. Endeavor is called back by Adriana after he is almost killed by Dabi, herself holding off the undead Sinister Six but is wounded and barely keeping up herself. She is forced to recognise that her allies couldn't keep up with her, and orders a retreat, pulling Spider-Man away from Demogoblin and Red Goblin and saving his life. The Spider-Gang cover their retreat, and the heroes run, taking the dying Paper Doll with them, leaving Carnage's Symbiotes to overrun downtown Tokyo, and begin to spread out across the city.
Soon enough, Adriana's S.I.L.K. forces, made up of the nationalised JSDF, arrive in Tokyo and set up a perimeter around the city, intent on making sure that no Symbiotes escape the city. At the same time, more heroes are pulled in to begin operations against Carnage's army. It's a Second War of the Symbiotes, and this time, Carnage has none of the weaknesses that they had exploited against Venom during the first. This time, they may not win. This time, evil, blatant, naked evil, may just prevail.
Adriana is having none of it. She orders all available forces to move into positions to block the Symbiotes and begin mass evacuations of civilians, and lays down her options onto Peter and the other present Spider-Gang members:
If they cannot stop Carnage here, then she will order Tokyo to be carpet-bombed.
Peter and the Spider-Gang are horrified by this, but Adriana makes her decision clear. Carnage is trying to take over the city, and he's murdering dozens of people and converting them into his minions. This isn't like the first War of the Symbiotes with Venom, it's a thousand times worse. This time, they can't afford to take any chance.
If they don't defeat Carnage soon, then to stop the infection, Tokyo must be cleansed.
Meanwhile, in the middle of Tokyo, where once stood the Emperor's Palace, now is a growing tower known as the Spire, a mass of red Symbiote gore made out of the bodies of the dead. Around it, Carnage is having a blast of a time, murdering as many people as it can and laughing all the way, adding even more bodies to the collective. Dabi, however, is growing impatient, wanting to take the fight to Endeavor and finally have his vengeance. Carnage is all too willing to let Dabi indulge in this, and sends the undead Sinister Six, including a twitching Red Goblin, with him to make this happen.
Kurogiri, who has taken umbrage with this madness and having had his loyalties to All for One and Shigaraki, finally decides that it's time for him to leave.
And Carnage, not wanting to take any chances, kills him and leaves his body behind to be infected by the red Symbiote, calling the undead Villain the Void.
And elsewhere, the Demogoblin begins to twitch, as if there is life inside of the creature trying to break out.
Meanwhile, the Spider-Gang, upon hearing of Adriana's conditions of victory, get to work, fighting to keep the undead red Symbiotes back alongside the pro heroes, but find that they are losing, and losing badly. Panda-Mania is critically injured despite her strength, and Gibbon and Hippo are almost killed. Meanwhile, Twice, Kirishima, and Tetsutetsu, are called forth from S.I.L.K.'s primary headquarters to assist in the efforts, but even they aren't strong enough to hold back the red tide.
Worse yet is when the champions of Carnage come to call. Dabi attacks Endeavor with fury and manic wrath, laughing at the thought of taking him down. Not only that, but the undead Sinister Six end up joining in on the fray, butchering several heroes and S.I.L.K. operatives and adding more to the crimson collective, proving themselves to still be a threat even when they were dead.
Whilst Endeavor is pinned down by Dabi and his new minions, Spider-Man is attacked by the Red Goblin, who has gone out of its way to try and kill him specifically, and flings all sorts of flaming Symbiote pumpkin-like bombs at him from a gory glider. At the same time, the Demogoblin begins to attack everyone, red Symbiote and hero alike, and is desperately searching for something, or someone; the dying Yu. All the while the mutated Symbiote corpse of Kurogiri, now known as the Void, kept bringing in new Symbiotes into the battle, worsening the chaos with every passing second.
But elsewhere, Venom finds the dying Yu and, in an act of desperate compassion, imprints a Symbiote onto her, and then leaves, allowing the purple Symbiote to smother her wounds and mix with her blood...
And then, Venom finds Peter as he battles with the Red Goblin, and forcefully bonds to him, covering him in a new form and turning himself into a massive, muscular monster once more, that attacks Red Goblin before tossing it aside and heading into the city to confront Carnage.
Meanwhile, with the rest of the heroes, things are continuing to grow worse and worse as the red Symbiote zombies continue to march forward. Endeavor is almost overwhelmed by the frenzied Dabi, All Might is out of action, and Adriana is beginning to feel the strain of fighting the undead Sinister Six for so long, who themselves, being undead, show no signs of exhaustion.
But then, hope, and help, arrives in the form of the rest of the Spider-Gang, that being Black Cat, Ochako, Ben Reilly, Keemia, and Izuku, the newly-christened Agent Anti-Venom, alongside their friends in U.A., that being Momo the Iron Spider, Sero, and Todoroki, as well as Aizawa for his erasure quirk. Everyone that could fight was being scrounged up and put to work in combatting the red Symbiotes, and Izuku's new Symbiote demonstrates its effectiveness by latching onto several Symbiote zombies and destroying the Symbiotes covering them, proving that these new Symbiotes do indeed have a weakness. Soon enough, the Spider-Gang begins their battle against the red Symbiotes, alongside Sandman (who has a tearful reunion with his daughter, Keemia), and Tinkerer (whom Ochako is frosty to, but is still willing to work with after everything that went down with Overhaul and the Green Goblin).
However, Ochako quickly spots Venom overtaking Peter and taking off, and chases after him.
Soon, Venom ends up coming across the Spire in the centre of Tokyo, and then finds Carnage there, and attacks it. Carnage and Venom duel violently, each tearing out chunks of the other in their attempts to deal a killing blow. However, Carnage ends up gaining the upper hand against Venom through sheer might and manic willpower, and forces Venom to retreat, claiming victory over its nemesis and heading off for its gleeful slaughter once again.
Soon enough, Ochako catches up with Venom, and, immediately distrusting the villain that had orchestrated the first War of the Symbiotes, demands that the Symbiote release Peter. Venom, however, redirects the topic over to Carnage and how they were supposed to stop it. Ochako is surprised by this, having not expected Venom to care at all about the lives that were being lost to Carnage and its red Symbiotes, but then pressures Venom into revealing what it wants from Peter, what it wants in general.
At the moment? Venom wants to stop Carnage.
In the long term...? Venom doesn't know.
Ochako and Venom move through the streets, avoiding and fighting any Symbiotes that would get in their way. During their movements, they strike up a terse conversation, with Venom revealing his previous motivations from the War of the Symbiotes, and how he had been born from a heroic legacy, only to twist it into believing that the best way to protect everyone was to make them like him. But now, after everything that happened, all his travels, and everything he has learnt... now he isn't sure. Now he doesn't know how to do what he was made to do. Ochako asks if that meant fighting All for One, as the Symbiotes are the mutated final form of One for All, but Venom simply responds that it was to protect others.
And when Ochako asks how possessing people is protecting them, Venom, once again, doesn't answer. He can't, because he knows what the answer will be.
However, the two of them are suddenly attacked by the Red Goblin, who is beginning to gain the ability to speak, letting out spluttered gasps and sparse and short sentences, revealing that the undead creature is beginning to regain the memories of the person that had once been alive. The Red Goblin is all the worst aspects of Norman Osborn, all his madness and viciousness given physical form, without any of his previous restraint, or even his sanity.
Worse yet, Carnage joins in on the fray, and Ochako and Venom are barely able to hold off them off before they are forced to flee, meeting up with the rest of the Spider-Gang, all of whom are furious to see Venom kicking about and in possession of Peter's body. Izuku, in particular, is furious to see Venom, almost shifting into his full Anti-Venom form to attack the Symbiote that effectively ruined his life, but Ochako is forced to take command and play mediator, telling them all that they need to come up with a plan.
Luckily, Adriana has one, and it involves Izuku, or more specifically, it involves Anti-Venom.
Adriana explains to them that since Izuku's Anti-Venom can cure and destroy Symbiotes, they can start applying it to many of the Symbiote zombies and neutralising them for good. However, because it was Carnage creating all these red Symbiotes and was clearly different to Venom and every other Symbiote out there, then it was possible that Carnage may be directing them, and if possible, would sense what was happening and create a counter to it, or worse, slip away and start the process in another city all over again.
Before they cured the Symbiote zombies, they needed to take down Carnage, and take it down for good.
They needed to strike at Carnage's Spire, isolate it from its minions, and then go in for the kill.
If they couldn't succeed at that, then she would deliver on her earlier promise and have Tokyo carpet-bombed to end the threat.
Realising that time is currently against them, the heroes, S.I.L.K., and their allies would surge forward into the overrun city, suffering casualties along the way but still rushing forward, regardless of the losses that they suffered along the way...
Until, battered and bloodied, they finally reached the Spire, where they found Carnage and its remaining minions, and begin their final attack, going up against the unhinged Symbiote and his goons.
Elsewhere, a series of bombers took off from their runways, bellies filled with bombs, and began their flight to Tokyo.
Back in Tokyo, the battle begins to turn back and forth between the heroes and the red Symbiotes. Todoroki teams up with Endeavor to take down Dabi, but the two are shocked when Dabi, in an act of spite, reveals his true identity as Touya Todoroki to them, and, upon realising that this is the last day of the League of Villains, releases his confessional video to the world earlier than in canon, utterly ruining Endeavor's reputation as his past deeds are revealed, right before Dabi decides to attack Endeavor outright, before the backlash of his own quirk catches up to him, and he burns up, dying right in front of the traumatised Endeavor and Todoroki's eyes.
Meanwhile, Aizawa ends up going up against the Void, and while his quirk isn't able to stop the Symbiote covering the corpse, like it had been unable to destroy Venom back in the First War of the Symbiotes, it does stop the corpse from using its former quirk, and that allows Aizawa the chance to take down the Symbiote and apply some of Izuku's Anti-Venom to it, destroying both the Symbiote and the corpse's quirk...
And that is when he sees Kurogiri's face, or more specifically, his old, dead friend's, Oboro Shirakumo's, face, deepening, and worsening, Aizawa's mental decline.
And elsewhere, the Demogoblin finally finds Yu, only to find the latter girl covered in a purple and silver Symbiote, which then merges a cache of metals and wires to its right arm as a massive weapon, and then attacks the Demogoblin, announcing itself as Miu's Scorn.
At the same time, Carnage continues to battle against the Spider-Gang, throwing them about and almost tearing them to pieces. Not even Venom, still possessing Izuku, is enough to stop Carnage, and is tackled to the side by the Red Goblin, who is eager to kill both Peter and Venom for his earlier demise.
However, that is when Ochako spots the distant S.I.L.K. bombers on the horizon, and realises that their time is almost up.
Ochako calls out to Venom, telling him that he can't beat both Carnage and the Red Goblin on his own. Not in his current state. They need Peter's strength as well as Venom's, and in their current position, neither will be able to do that.
And that is when Ochako offers herself up to Venom, telling him to take her as his host, as to give them a fighting chance.
Venom is amazed by this, as it is rare for people to offer themselves up to Venom as a willing Symbiote. The last person to do that was Nine, and he had wanted to subjugate Venom. The person before that was Izuku, and, well, they all knew how that went. Even when he was known as One for All, being passed down from person to person, it had been other people passing him along, not giving him a choice at all.
But Ochako... she was giving Venom a choice, and Venom, in response, and remembering everything that Nejire had told him before, offers Ochako a choice of her own in wanting to bond with him, permanently.
And Ochako, with a nod, accepts.
Venom severs his bond with Peter, leaving Spider-Man confused about what is going on before his memories during Venom's possession of him, and he watches as Venom snakes around Ochako and bonds with her...
And Ochako, for the first time, bonds with him.
This mutual connection between them, having never truly existed before with his other hosts, grants the two a level of synchronisation and power that neither had ever felt before, and through their mutual bond, they gain a new form, and grant themselves a new name:
They are She-Venom.
She-Venom goes on the attack, slamming itself against Carnage, against Toga, and delivering onto the red Symbiote a crushing blow. At the same time, Peter, Spider-Man, goes up against the Red Goblin, and is able to put him down, incapacitating the Symbiote and, much to his own sadness, watching as the red Symbiote was destroyed by a vial of Anti-Venom, and Norman Osborn passed away all over again.
At the same time, Izuku is able to tag the rest of the undead Sinister Six with Anti-Venom and cure them, allowing the Sinister Six to move on from life once more, all the while Scorn overpowers the Demogoblin and lands a fatal blow on it, allowing Miu's lingering consciousness to bubble up to the front and apologise to Yu, utterly horrified by how far she has gone and what she has done before she finally dies.
And meanwhile, She-Venom battles against Carnage, Ochako against Toga, and it all ends when She-Venom utterly thrashes Carnage, allowing Izuku the chance to apply his Anti-Venom to both Carnage and the Spire, destroying both Symbiotes and shattering the connection that they had with the red Symbiote zombie army, leaving them rudderless, without direction, and able to be easily picked off by the heroes, now armed with Izuku's Anti-Venom, and giving Adriana the chance to call off her bombers from destroying Tokyo just as they pass over the city.
Soon enough, the rest of the Spider-Gang, now including Peter and Koichi, gather around Ochako, who has now fully bonded herself with Venom to become She-Venom, the two of them now working in unison with each other. Izuku is shocked to see Ochako just as in charge of the bond as Venom usually is, and the two of them end up shaking hands with each other.
During this time, Peter meets up with Koichi and Yu, the latter of whom has a new Symbiote of her own known as Scorn, which has healed her wounds and saved her from death. The three of them get to talking, and it is here that Koichi finally reveals that he doesn't blame Peter for Kazuho's death and apologises to him for his previously frosty behaviour, and Yu advises Peter to let go of his guilt over what happened to Kazuho, as it wasn't his fault, before heading off to hand herself over to the police once again.
But then, behind them, Toga wakes up, and, upon realising what has happened, discovers that she still has a shard of Carnage still inside of her, surges up, spots Ochako, She-Venom, and goes for the attack-
Only for Adriana to intercept her and punch her through the chest, killing both Toga and Carnage.
Spider-Man, upon seeing this, is horrified by the sight, and demands to know why Adriana would do something like that. Adriana simply comments that considering Toga's crimes and what she has done as Carnage, that she was probably going to get the capital punishment anyway. Peter angrily retorts that that isn't their choice to make.
Adriana simply waves her hand around, to all the people that have died during this Second War of the Symbiotes, and asks if he'll say that to the dead, if he'll line up all the corpses across the city and tell them that his morals outweigh their lives.
Peter cannot answer.
Adriana simply tells him to head back to base and get rested, and says the same to the rest of the Spider-Gang. Today has been a long day for them all. Black Cat, still wanted for her previous connection to the League of Villains, takes the opportunity to flee, and Ochako, She-Venom, follows after her, recognising that Venom will not be welcome amongst the heroes, and goes off to fight crime and save lives on their own.
In the aftermath of the battle, Tokyo has been left a shattered mess from which it will forever be scarred. Hundreds have lost their lives, and thousands have been injured and/or left homeless from the conflict. Endeavor has been disgraced by Dabi's revelations and steps down from his position as the number two hero, allowing himself to be arrested, and All Might suddenly feels the pressure of more responsibility in keeping hero society functioning on his shoulders as people begin to deify him, seeing as one of the few true heroes within a breaking system...
And this all plays into Adriana's hands as she confers with Doctor Otto Octavius in S.I.L.K.'s R&D centre in the old U.A. campus grounds, where it is reveals that she is glad more and more faith and belief is being put onto All Might. If her plans succeed, it will do so much more damage to hero society than she'd dare dream. Otto then asks her why she even allowed Toga and Carnage to carry out the Second War of the Symbiotes, revealing that Adriana had manipulated events to get Toga to find the red Symbiote and bond with it, allowing her to carry out her massacre.
Adriana simply responds that they needed to know how to spread the Symbiotes through a vector without the resulting Symbiotes being as independent as they had been during Venom's uprising. Now, through both Carnage's example, they had a vector and knowledge on how to spread it.
And, thanks to their samples of Anti-Venom that they'd taken from Izuku during his vegetative state, they had the means to spread it.
Now, all they need to do is find Shigaraki and put him down like the sick dog that he is, and then Adriana will be able to put her plans into effect...
Elsewhere, Doctor Garaki is furious as to Toga's waste of the League's resources, including their last remaining Nomu and minions, but is forced to concede as he pushes his efforts onto implanting All for One into Shigaraki...
And, now that he has a domesticated sample of the red Symbiote, he has the means to attach One for All to him as well.
As such, the good doctor implants the red Symbiote sample into Shigaraki, and then fuses him with All for One. Shigaraki screams as his mind is overridden by All for One, who is enraged at his first death and how his plans have all fallen apart, and swears revenge on Adriana for doing him in, bonding with the sample of One for All and growing more and more powerful than before as he takes on a new, monstrous form...
All the while the last remnants of Carnage linger at the back of All for One's mind, biding its time and awaiting the chance to take control once again.
From around the start of this story, when I was figuring out what to do with the Symbiotes, I knew that I wanted Ochako to be this story's She-Venom. Don't ask me how I came to this conclusion, I just knew. However, when it comes to her design, I've envisioned her to be based more off Gwenom rather than the classic She-Venom look, as I find it to just be a lot more visually interesting than the original She-Venom design.
There's a lot more that I want to say here, but it's the middle of the night, and I want to go to bed. All you need to know is that we're in series four's endgame now. Everything should be ramping up now.
But anyway, please review and comment. I haven't received one in so long that I've no idea if anyone even likes what I'm writing anymore. Plus, reviews help to give me ideas and remind me of the things I need to do.
