Make Up Work Club Gymnasium
"My name is Morizuki Suzumi of the Arius Infiltration Unit, the true traitor of Trinity."
Koharu jerked back in disbelief. "Wait…you're with Arius!? This entire time, you were a part of Arius?"
Ignoring the JTF member's outcry, Suzumi turned back towards her victims. As she walked through the crowds of fallen Sisters, she frowned as she noticed one of the nuns staggering on the ground, trying to pull herself up. She noticed the nun's large frame and size and recalled her name. "Hinata, was it? Sensei's namesake?"
Hinata looked up to the infiltrator. Suzumi gave her a puzzled look. "I've already gunned down your sisters. Why do you try to get up?"
"Because…I have a namesake to live up to." The girl grunted, her arms trembling.
"I see. That's quite honorable of you." The infiltrator smiled as she bent down on one knee to her level. "That's why I'll give you an honorable farewell, fitting of your status."
Sensei winced as he heard a single thump of Suzumi's rifle go off. "Sorry Hinata." he muttered under his breath.
Suzumi stood up from the fallen nun and gestured to a pair of Crew members. "We're clear here. Get the prisoner."
As the two agents left the gymnasium, the white haired traitor turned back towards the Make Up Work Club. "So, there you have it. I'm the spy you've been looking for this entire time. The one who pulled the strings, who called the shots, and prepared this entire event. How does that make you feel?"
"Y-you'll never get away with this!" Koharu shot back. "The JTF will arrest you for this! And Hasumi will never let you get away with this!"
"Funny thing about that is," The white haired traitor smirked, "I already have. Your little Tea Party member Mika made sure of that."
She gestured to the Arius students standing near Mika. "Bring them forward. We're on the clock and time is ticking."
The students in question nodded, running over and began dragging the Make Up Work club forward. Koharu growled as she tried to resist their holds. Hanako merely allowed the students to take her, her face deep in concentration. Azusa allowed the students to grab her until she noticed Hifumi's uncomfortable expression towards her captors. "Don't touch her!"
She broke free of her captor's grasp and took two steps towards her friend when a pair of shots struck her in the back, sending her to the ground.
"Azusa!" Hifumi cried in horror.
Suzumi lowered her rifle. "Really Azusa? Of all people I thought you would understand that your attempt would be in vain."
She stared at the collapsed student and groaned. "Come on, I know you're faking. The Instructor beat you harder than that. Get up."
Slowly, the former student got on knees, a pained look on her face.. "Just…be gentle with Hifumi."
The white haired traitor nodded, "Fair enough." She turned back to Hifumi. "Sorry about that. Would you mind joining your friends over there? No one will touch you."
The highly freaked out student nodded frantically. "Can I just…check on Azusa?"
"Go ahead." She turned to the rest of the Crew. "Release them, they can move on their own."
The girls nodded and backed away from the teacher and the Make Up Work club. Koharu stared at Suzumi in disbelief as she brushed her arms. Hanako frowned. "You're awfully nice for someone who just backstabbed us."
"I don't see a reason to be cruel if I can avoid it." Suzumi shrugged. "If you don't resist, then I don't have an issue not forcing you."
"Yet you still gunned down the entire Sisterhood."
The traitor shrugged, "Guess I wasn't feeling it then. Look, get moving and shut up or else I'll actually get physical again!"
Hanako bit down the urge to make a comment as she joined the rest of the club. Hifumi helped Azusa onto her feet and helped her limp over to the center. Meanwhile Sensei merely watched Suzumi with a small frown on his face.
Mika simply stared at the white haired girl in disbelief. "Wait…why didn't you tell me? I thought Azusa was the only Arius student here…"
Suzumi smiled haughtily. "I'm rather surprised you never figured it out, Mika. After all, didn't you ever wonder how you managed to run into Saori in the first place? Who orchestrated your meeting, who led you to find us just when you refused to take part in the Eden Treaty? I'll be honest Mika. This is not your game. It never has been. It's been mine. This entire plot goes even further than you could even begin to imagine."
She patted Mika on the shoulder. "So why don't you be a good little pawn and wait your turn to be moved. After all, you're about to become the new Tea Party host after all."
The leader turned back towards her squadmates when she heard an unexpected voice.
"Suzumi…are we the baddies?"
Suzumi froze as a chill ran down her spine. As one, the entire crew turned to see a familiar bushy haired girl staring at the scene in disbelief.
"Suzumi…are we the baddies?" Uzawa Reisa asked in utter disbelief.
The white haired girl turned to her fellow members, "I thought we told her to stay behind."
"She was asleep when we left." Another protested.
"I even made sure to sing her favorite lullaby." Added a third before she froze, "Wait…"
She turned to Suzumi. "Did you finish the coffee jug before we left?"
The white haired girl shook her head. "No…"
The others shook their heads as well. Suzumi turned back to their comrade and winced. "Reisa…sweetie…did you finish the coffee jug?"
Reisa glanced around nervously. "You looked like you were going to stay up late, so I drank it all. I wanted to help you!"
She then looked back at the fallen Sisterhood, slowly coming around. "But…why are you doing this?"
Suzumi's expression softened as she knelt down. "Reisa, sweetie, you weren't supposed to be here. This isn't a Vigilante Crew activity. It's an Arius Infiltration unit activity. But I promise you, once we finish this one mission, then we can go back to being the Vigilante Crew. Alright?"
Reisa glanced back at Sensei and the Make Up Work Club. "B-but…why didn't you tell me? Why did you not tell me that you were from Arius? That isn't what friends do. And you're all my friends."
"Because…" The Arius spy sighed, "Because…I was kinda scared to tell you. You…you were so excited to fight for justice and help people…but we were kinda scared to tell you about our justice."
"Your justice?" Reisa frowned.
"My justice for Arius." Suzumi looked around the beautiful gymnasium, now torn up and riddled with holes and burn marks. "The justice that we Arius students were denied, to grow up in a world where we didn't have to fight for scraps, to learn with barely functioning textbooks and cds, to constantly fight hunger. The justice that thinks it's unfair that a decision hundreds of years ago ruined life for all of us. That's my justice. That's Arius's justice."
The younger vigilante nodded, "But if that was your justice, then I would have definitely wanted to help! You could have told me, then we could have fought for your justice together!"
"I know sweetie." Suzumi smiled as she gave Reisa a side hug. "And I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I should have told you. But as you pointed out, it's a bit late for that now. So for now, I need you to step aside and let me finish my mission. Once I finish my mission, then I'll tell you all about my justice and how we can bring it about together. Sound good?"
Reisa nodded slowly. "Ok…if you say so…"
"That's the spirit." The spy patted her on the back. "I'm sorry to bother you Sensei, but could you look after Reisa right now?
The bearded teacher nodded, "Of course. Come on Reisa. We can watch Suzumi from over here."
Reisa ran over to the older man. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?"
"I'm very fine." Sensei replied, "Your friends were actually quite gentle."
Noticing the rest of the Make Up Work club kneeling on the floor, Reisa winced. "I'm sorry…about Suzumi."
"That's not your fault, Reisa." The father replied, "They're just following their own justice, just as you do yours."
Suzumi was about to speak when the gymnasium doors opened and a pair of vigilantes dragged in a girl with a bag over her head.
The teacher noticed her expression harden as she turned to the prisoner. "Ahh, just in time."
"Sorry Suzumi," One of the vigilantes replied, "She was a bit uncooperative."
The other vigilante, who had a weird bruise across her face, muttered. "Who knew chairs were that dangerous?"
Mika frowned. "Wait, is that?"
Putting back on her haughty expression, Suzumi chuckled. "That's right."
Walking over to the prisoner, the traitor pulled off the bag, revealing the girl's ash blonde hair and surprised expression. "Say hello to your childhood friend and Tea Party host, Nagisa!"
With a completely bewildered expression on her face, Nagisa stared at the scene before her. "Mika, what's going on?"
The pink haired girl winced. "Ahh…Nagisa, you see…"
"You see," Suzumi interrupted, "Mika here decided that she hated your guts so much that she'd rather dispose of you and take over as the Tea Party Head. Just like she did with Seia!"
A look of shock passed over Nagisa's face before it was replaced with disbelief. "Mika…what?...is this true?"
Completely frazzled, Mika took a step back. "Well…I mean…you know…it's like…"
"I…" Nagisa muttered, "I figured there was a traitor somewhere in the Pater faction…but…Mika…why?"
"I mean…I didn't mean to…actually…kill Seia…but it kinda happened that way…I guess…and…" Caught completely off balance, Mika tried to put together words in a complete sentence, but found it impossible.
"Let me put it simply Nagisa." Suzumi chuckled, "Your friend Mika here hates Gehenna so much that she would rather kill both you and Seia instead of making friends with Gehenna students."
That's when Nagisa frowned. "Wait, but-"
"-And that's why she colluded with Arius!" The traitor interrupted, "Isn't it utterly brilliant? The combined force of Trinity and Arius coming side by side to stamp out those stupid Gehenna people! And the only thing standing in her way is killing you!"
Mika stood back. "Wait, I never said I was going to kill-"
"-and there you have it!" Suzumi finished. "Now then, by now, all of you should be in complete shock and horror at my ultimate plan!"
She looked around at the Make Up Work club, the now recovering Sisterhood being escorted by the Arius students and Vigilante Crew, and…Sensei. She frowned as she walked over to the teacher.
"Aren't you upset? Angry that I gunned everyone down? Furious that I betrayed you and your friends?"
Desperately the white haired traitor searched the purple eyes of the teacher, looking for any signs of anger, fury, frustration, or resentment. Instead, all she found was…sadness?
The teacher smiled softly. "Suzumi, you're just doing your job. You're following your own path of justice, the one put forward to you by Arius. And I would never want to prevent one of my students from living out their dreams." He glanced at the carnage around him, "Sure, this is not how I would hope you would have achieved this justice, but I don't hold it against you."
He looked into the girl's red eyes. "Instead, I feel a bit of sadness and regret. Regret…that I didn't save you girls before."
The girl's hardened expression cracked, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Fifteen years ago, I had to make a tough decision between protecting those I loved and doing the right thing. In light of my loved ones, I chose to abandon the mission to find the Arius district and instead try to save the expedition forces. In the end, I lost both the missions and my loved ones. But I realize that if I had decided to see the mission to the end, then perhaps, maybe, just maybe…we would have found you. We could have found Arius, restored communication between your school and the General Student Council. Arius could have received the support and assistance it needed, maybe even possibly reuniting with Trinity. Then you girls could have grown up in an environment where you didn't need to suffer the way you did. You wouldn't need to cause a coup in Trinity to bring about your justice, because it had already been realized for you." A tear fell down the teacher's cheek, "And for that…I'm sorry."
Completely taken aback, Suzumi stared at the teacher in complete shock and disbelief. After a moment, her expression hardened, "Well…as you said. It's too late for that now."
She turned to her second in command, "Come on, let's get the device."
With that, she stormed out of the gymnasium, leaving the Arius students, Make Up Work Club, and the Sisterhood alone.
Sensei smiled softly. "So…that's what's going on."
"Sensei?" Reisa reached over and dabbed the teacher's cheek with her handkerchief. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine Reisa." The teacher replied, "I'm just…I just…I feel a bit better about our chances."
"Sensei…" The youngest vigilante muttered, "I was thinking about what you said. How we have to make choices between those we love and doing the right thing."
"Oh?"
Reisa nodded, reaching into her bag. "I think…I think I get it. And I have to make that choice."
"Very well then," The teacher gave her a kind look. "Just so you know, I'll support you all the way."
Careful to not alert the guards, Reisa pulled a smartphone out of her bag.
Bam!
Her fist struck the wall beside her as she panted.
Suzumi's companion frowned. "Are you okay Suzumi?"
"I'm fine Urara." Suzumi responded, "It's just…this is taking a lot more out of me than I expected."
"Funny how that works," Urara replied, "You gun down the entire Sisterhood, but talking to Sensei is way harder and more stressful."
"Don't get me started. Come on, Sensei's office is this way."
As they walked, Urara gave her leader a concerned look. "Look, Suzumi, if you can't handle it, just let us know. We can pick up the slack."
"I can handle it!" Suzumi shot back. "I just…"
Urara put her hand on her friend's back. "Suzumi, we aren't doubting your ability. You were always the best actor of all of us and the Instructor personally trained you for that. But you can't shoulder everything yourself. Allow the rest of us to help you." She smirked, "I may not be the best asshole, but I'll certainly try my best."
The vigilante leader smiled, "Thanks Urara. I'll keep that in mind. Here we are."
Opening the door to the teacher's office, the girls ran over to the small vault in the corner of the room. "You got the code?"
"Asahi got it for us. 06052010"
Inputting the PIN, Suzumi opened the door to reveal the Anti Halo Bomb. Carefully removing it, she put it on the table. "How does it look?"
Furrowing her brow, Urara examined the bomb, carefully tracing the wires. "Looks kinda odd, but it's definitely a powerful bomb. Are you sure this is it?"
Suzumi shrugged, "I don't know. The Anti Halo Bombs arrived in Arius after we infiltrated Trinity. I've never seen them, only heard about them."
"Hmm…" The Vigilante demolitions expert began to tap buttons on the detonator. "Well, for a big device, it's got a pretty complex detonator. Huh…"
"Huh what?" Suzumi frowned.
"Do you know the arming password?"
"There's an arming password?!"
Urara held up the detonator. "Right here. It's asking for a four digit pin to arm the detonator."
"Well that complicates things." The vigilante leader muttered. "Can you get around it?"
"Not easily." the demolition vigilante responded, tapping at the device. "Looks like that this thing has multiple fail safes built in to prevent accidental detonation."
Maestro turned to the readers. "I'm an artist and an inventor! Not a monster! Of course I put fail safes on my devices! You think I want to blow myself up while making one of these?"
"Azusa probably knows." Urara pointed out.
"And you think she's going to tell us?" Suzumi groaned.
"We could…convince her…"
"And how well do you think that's going to work out?" The leader ranted, "She's got the same training we do. She'd rather die than give up the code that easily. And…"
"And because you're actually a really nice person, you don't want to torture a fellow Arius student." Urara finished. "Sometimes I wonder whether the Instructor chose the right person to lead us."
"I hate you Urara."
"I love you too Suzumi."
"So…what now?"
The vigilante pondered as she examined the cables. "I could just replace the detonator. The bomb's not armed so I could do it fairly safely. Problem is that it's using a very specific fuse set up and not just any detonator could send the correct signals to arm it."
"Do you have one?"
"..."
Suzumi gave her friend a raised brow. "Urara, I don't like that look."
"I do." Urara admitted, "But…it's tied to my alarm clock."
The white haired girl groaned. "You mean the one that you rigged to explode if you sleep through three alarms in the morning?"
"That's the one."
"And where is it?"
"..."
"It's back at the hideout, isn't it?"
"Yep-p."
The two shared a look. Suzumi groaned, "We're toast, aren't we?"
"Every moment that ticks by is another moment the JTF is waiting around and wondering what's happening on the other side of campus."
BOOM!
The two looked up as the building shook. "Already?"
"Dammit!" Suzumi groaned, grabbing the device from Urara. "Come on, we'll work out a plan as we go."
The two ran into the gymnasium as Arius students and Vigilante Crew members were already rushing about. Suzumi looked around. "What's going on?"
The Arius squad leader saluted. "There's an armed assault at the front. I'm sending forces to intercept."
"But who tipped them off?" Suzumi muttered, "Mika, didn't you tell the JTF to wait till dawn?"
The pink haired leader shook her head. "It wasn't me! I made it very clear that Hasumi couldn't leave her post."
"Then who could it be?" The vigilante leader growled as she scanned the room, past the now awake Sisterhood, the Make Up Work club, Sensei and Reisa...who happened to be holding up her phone.
Resia waved. Suzumi groaned but took a deep breath and let it out. She briskly walked over to Reisa. "So…this is how you betray me."
The youngest traitor winced as she slowly nodded. The older traitor sighed. "Can you give me the phone?"
Reisa handed the phone over to Suzumi, who accepted it. "Thank you."
"Won't stop anything." She spoke up.
Suzumi turned her glare at the younger student who braced herself. But seeing Reisa waiting for her to beat her made the older girl groan. "It's fine Reisa. Just tell me…why?"
"You told me that you were following your own justice. I realized that I needed to follow my justice as well."
"And that's why you betrayed me, calling in the JTF?"
Resia shook her head. "I didn't call the JTF."
"You didn't?" Suzumi frowned, "Wait…you don't mean…"
In that moment, Uzawa Reisa's lips spread to form the most sinister grin in history. "I called in the most dangerous monster in all of Kivotos!
"CATH PALUG!"
