What if Goldberg's 1st WWE run was booked like his WCW run

In WCW, Goldberg was one of their biggest draws and their all time best success stories. And it all came down to a simple formula, all squash matches save for big time matches. This hid his flaws like his poor endurance and limited technical moves, and showcased his raw power and explosiveness.

But in WWE, we all know how his first run went. Awful matches, that time HHH beat him in the chamber despite an injured crotch, and his atrocity of a match with Brock Lesnar at WMXX.

Which begs the question, what if WWE didn't screw with the winning formula of Goldberg? Well, after Wrestlemania 19 Goldberg feuded with Rock to start his WWE tenure. His career was mostly kept the same in canon, but WWE did a better job at hiding his flaws and kept his squashing ways. Jobbers would be speared and jackhammered while his PPV matches were no more than 8 minutes. All victories.

Then came the Summerslam 2003 elimination chamber, where Goldberg entered 5th and steamrolled through all the competition until only Triple H was left.

Now our first major change comes to when Goldberg goes for the spear, but HHH is about to counter with a sledgehammer shot...

... only this time for Goldberg to roll away from the shot, disorienting Triple H enough for Goldberg to nail him with a vicious spear. One jackhammer later, and Goldberg has claimed the World Heavyweight title.

For the rest of the year, until the last PPV of that year where HHH took back the title thanks to help from Ric Flair.

Following that it was the last few months of his first year of WWE. His feud with the Lesnar where the Beast cost Goldberg the rumble, and Bill returned the favor at No Way Out and cost Lesnar the title in his defense with Eddie Guerrero.

And with that we come to the infamous Wrestlemania match with Brock Lesnar, where both it would have been leaked that both Bill and Brock were leaving after this match. Leaving everyone booing the pants off both men, and them giving in a quarter hearted affair.

But this time around, negotiations for Bill went better and he was signed for one more year with a proper paycheck. So only Brock was leaving, and the crowd booed the like crazy for Brock.

So what would have been a 13 minute slog was now only 4 minutes with spears out the gate, one to the barricade. When Goldberg went for a jackhammer, Brock countered with 2 F5s. But on the third Goldberg slid out of and sent Brock face first into the turnbuckle, before hoisting Lesnar up and slamming him down with a jackhammer to finish it off.

After that it was another year of squash after squash, and then when WM21 happened. Goldberg competed in the first Money in the Bank match, where he speared Chris Jericho through a ladder. He didn't win by the way, leaving his first stint in the WWE with a bang even in defeat.

Then when his second run in WWE came around, Goldberg didn't squash Kevin Owens for the Universal title. Thus allows '17 Rumble winner Chris Jericho to challenge Owens in a winner take all match for the United States and Universal titles. Bill still faced Brock in their Wrestlemania rematch, which played out the same only without Brock taking the new world title hostage.

And any world title match from then on that Goldberg was in, he lost clean and out over new faces. Like Drew McIntyre and the Fiend in 2020, other matches he'd squash lower card talent and lost to upper card current talent. And the Supershowdown match with Undertaker never happened, because two 50 something dudes passed beyond their prime is a dumb decision.

And that's that.
