Chapter 66: Friends Again
Santana's POV
*Monday 26th August 2024*
I'm currently just on my way to my best friend's house to talk to her. I was working earlier and Brittany still is right now while the kids are at daycare but I've left work early to talk to Quinn. I feel like we need to squash this situation between us. I don't want us to not be friends and I know it's still tough but surely, we need to get back on track.
"Ok, here goes" I say aloud to myself nervously as I knock on Quinn's door.
"Santana…hi" Quinn says surprised as she opens the door.
"Do you have a second to talk?" I ask.
"Yeah, in you come" Quinn nods.
"Thanks" I say as I step inside and close the door behind me. "So, how are you?" I ask as we make our way to the living room.
"I'm ok I guess" Quinn shrugs.
"I'm assuming you probably know what I want to talk about?" I say.
"I've got an idea" Quinn replies.
"I know you are hurting more than me right now but I really miss you, Quinn" I say honestly.
"It's just a lot to try and get over right now" Quinn says.
"I know and I understand that" I nod.
"I'm not really sure what else you want me to say right now because I feel like we have talked about this situation at length and right now it's not any easier for me" Quinn admits.
"I know that but I just wanted to see you and make sure you were ok" I state.
"I mean I'm fine given the circumstances" Quinn tells me.
"You're my best friend and are very important to me. Besides my family, you were the only person I would show any emotion too. You were and still are a big part of my life so I don't want to lose you" I admit.
"I know" Quinn nods.
"Obviously we're both married to people now so Brittany is now someone I also show emotion too but before that I only had you and that meant something to me. You were always there for me and I'll never forget that" I say.
"I still want to be your best friend Santana, I promise. I just need you to be patient with me while I come to terms with everything because we're in different situations now. The situation has made your life better because you're having a baby now but it's made mine worse because I've lost a baby. I accept it wasn't mine to lose but, in a way, I have lost a baby because I didn't know it wasn't mine to begin with" Quinn says.
"Ok, I can be patient" I nod. "As long as I know your willing to forgive me then that's all that matters right now" I nod.
"Santana, you don't need to be forgiven because this wasn't your fault. I know I said some hurtful things before but this was out with our control. My doctor should have picked this up during the process and things wouldn't have gone so far" Quinn says.
"Yeah, he should have" I nod in agreement.
"Look, I am sure things will be back to how they were at some point but just not yet" Quinn says.
"That's fine" I smile.
"Now, I don't want to rush you to leave but I kinda need to get ready now. James will be home from work soon and then we're going to dinner with his parents" she replies.
"That's ok, I'll head home now" I say as I make my way to the door. "Enjoy your dinner" I smile.
"Thanks" Quinn smiles back.
As soon as I leave, I head straight home. Brittany and the kids aren't there when I arrive so I amuse myself by doing some household chores. After doing some vacuuming, I decide there's a lot of laundry needed doing so I make a start on that. I'm just doing my first load of laundry when the front door opens and I hear my family enter.
"Mom!" Jaxon calls out from the hall.
"I think I can hear her in the kitchen buddy" Brittany tells Jaxon.
"Ok" Jaxon says before running into the kitchen.
"Hi sweetie" I bend down to hug my son.
"Hi" Jaxon replies as he hugs me back tightly.
"Did you have fun at daycare?" I ask my son as we pull out of the hug.
"Yeah" Jaxon nods his head.
"That's good" I say as I stand up and walk towards Brittany and Xavier.
"Mommy" Xavier smiles at me as he opens his arms up.
"Hi buddy" I say as I hug my youngest son this time. "Did you have a nice time at daycare too?" I ask him.
"Yeah" Xavier replies.
"I'm glad you both had good days today" I smile at my children. "So, how about you? How are you and how was your day?" I ask my wife.
"My day was ok but it's even better now than I'm with you and the kids" Brittany smiles.
"That's cute" I smile as I lean in and kiss my wife's cheek.
"Anyway, enough about me. How did it go with Quinn?" Brittany asks concerned.
"Better than last time but Quinn still needs some time which is fair enough" I say.
"I'm sure this will be sorted out sooner rather than later. We just have to remember that it's harder for her than it is for us" Brittany says.
"I know" I nod in agreement.

*Wednesday 28th August 2024*
Brittany and I have been home from work for a little while now. As soon as we finished working, we got the kids from daycare and then went straight home. We're just spending some time with the children right now and then we'll have dinner soon. Brittany and I are sitting on the couch together, just watching our kids play on the carpet with some of their toys. Jaxon is playing with his trucks and showing Xavier the different ones, he has. It's really cute just how much Xavier wants to do whatever Jaxon is doing.
"Mommy" Jaxon says looking at Brittany as he walks towards the couch.
"Yeah buddy?" Brittany replies, smiling at him.
"Can you fix?" Jaxon asks as he holds out his toy truck in one hand and the trailer in the other.
"Oh, did the trailer come off the truck?" Brittany asks as she removes her arm from around me and takes the items from Jaxon.
"Yeah, broke" Jaxon nods.
"I will try and fix it back together for you" Brittany smiles.
"Thanks" Jaxon says as he pushes Brittany and I apart and climbs onto the couch in between us.
"Was I sitting too close to mommy?" I tease Jaxon.
"Yes." Jaxon replies seriously.
"That's you told" Brittany laughs.
"It seems like it" I laugh.
"Your little truck is all fixed now" Brittany says as she hands Jaxon the toy.
"Thanks" Jaxon smiles at Brittany.
"Mommy…up" Xavier says to me as he gently taps my knee.
"Come on then sweetie" I smile as I lift Xavier up onto my knee.
"Isn't this cute, us all sitting together" Brittany says to the kids.
"We cute" Jaxon giggles.
"Yeah, you and Xavier are the cutest people around" I smile at the kids.
"Uh…what about me?" Brittany teases me.
"I guess you're cute too" I shrug.
"You guess?" Brittany questions teasingly.
"Ok, I know for a fact you're cute too" I smile as I lean over to kiss my wife's cheek.
"That's good" Brittany smiles back.
"So, I think it's about time we all had dinner now. What do you say boys, are you hungry?" I ask the children.
"Yeah" Jaxon nods his head.
"Ok, let's make dinner then" I say.

*Saturday 31st August 2024*
Brittany and I have just been having a quiet day at home with the kids. It's the weekend and we've been working quite a bit throughout the week so we just wanted to spend some quality family time with our children. We've all just finished eating lunch so we're getting cleared up and then we're going to spend some more time with the boys before they take their afternoon nap. I'm just about finished in the bathroom when there's a knock at the door so Brittany answers it.
"Hi" I hear the person say.
"Hey, Quinn" Brittany replies.
"Is Santana in?" Quinn asks.
"Yeah, she is, come in" Brittany says.
"Do you guys have a moment to talk or are you busy today?" Quinn asks.
"No, we're not busy" Brittany replies.
"That's good" Quinn says.
"Can I get you a drink or something while you wait. I mean you could have a long wait because Santana ate something weird last night so she's been in the bathroom all morning with some digestive distress" Brittany says.
"Uh…I'll take some coffee" Quinn says, laughing nervously.
"I do not have digestive distress by the way" I say embarrassingly as I walk into the living room and playfully hit my wife's arm.
"Whether you do or don't, I don't think I want to know anyway" Quinn states.
"Yeah, I wouldn't want to tell you anyway" I laugh. "I certainly wouldn't have told Brittany either because it's not very sexy so I can assure you she's lying" I add.
"It was just a joke" Brittany smiles. "Anyway, I will get us some drinks" she says.
"Cool" I smile at my wife.
"So, what were you up to then considering you didn't come through straight away?" Quinn asks curiously.
"I was in the bathroom actually but I was just washing my hands, not using the toilet like Britt suggested" I reply. "My kids were a little messy during lunch so I was helping them wash their hands and then I was washing mine" I shrug.
"Fair enough" Quinn smiles.
"So, what's going on? What did you want to talk about?" I ask curiously.
"I wanted to talk about us. I want to put this whole thing behind us now and move on. I've had time to think and I've had space so I want to move forward now" Quinn admits.
"I want that too, come here" I say as I pull my best friend in for a hug.
"I am still struggling a little bit so I'm not saying everything will be smooth sailing right now but I am sure about moving on" Quinn says as she hugs me back.
"That's good, I'm glad" I smile.
"Can you two stop hugging now please, it's making me feel left out" Brittany teases as she walks into the room and sits the drinks down on the table.
"Ok, we'll stop" I smile at my wife as I pull away from Quinn.
"So, are things ok now?" Brittany asks curiously as she sits down.
"Yeah, they are" Quinn smiles at me.
"I have my best friend back and I couldn't be happier" I say.
"Yeah, it's not been the same without each other when we've been apart" Quinn says.
"I agree because I need you in my life Quinn because as I said before you've always been a big part of it and my life wouldn't be the same without you in it" I tell her honestly.
"I am so glad we can move on now" Quinn says happily.
"Me too" I smile. "I really missed you when we weren't talking and I hated that because you're my best friend and I love you" I add.
"Yeah, I hated it too" Quinn agrees.

After Quinn left, Brittany and I spent some time with the kids. We then put them down for their afternoon nap because it was well overdue. Brittany and I are just tidying up a bit while we have some free time when the kids are sleeping. Ideally, I would have liked to just chill out in my spare time because this pregnancy is really starting to kick my butt now but I can't because I need to be productive and do the things I can't do when the kids are awake.
"You're very quiet this afternoon, is everything ok?" I ask Brittany as we do some laundry.
"Yeah" Brittany shrugs.
"I'm not sure I believe you babe" I say softly. If everything was ok then she'd do more than shrug to reassure me.
"I just feel a bit weird today mentally but I don't want to bore you with it" she tells me.
"You're not going to bore me so talk to me" I assure her.
"Ok, if I'm being honest then I was kinda jealous today" Brittany admits.
"Jealous of what, honey?" I ask confused.
"You and Quinn with the hugging and the things you said to each other" she shrugs.
"I love and care about Quinn because she's a big part of my life. We've known each other for years and been through a lot together. Our relationship is completely different to my relationship with you. I love and care about you too but I'm also in love with you. I'm not in love with Quinn. My feelings for you are completely different" I say.
"It does make sense; I just never fully realised it before" Brittany says.
"Quinn is like my sister so it's like in a sisterly way" I tell her.
"I obviously know nothing would happen between you both but it did feel weird to me hearing you say some of the things you did. I've never heard you say some of those things to anyone but me before" she admits.
"You know I don't like talking about my feelings all the time but that doesn't mean I don't feel things. I do love my best friend and my parents and my siblings. I don't always tell them though but it doesn't mean that I don't" I explain.
"I know and I get that. I do understand" Brittany says.
"You have to know, you're the one that I love the most" I smile.
"I do know that; I'm just being silly I guess" Brittany shrugs.
"It's not silly so don't dismiss how you feel babe. It's ok to feel a certain way especially with everything that's been going on recently" I assure her.
"Ok" she smiles.
"Come here" I say as I pull my wife closer and hug her tightly. "Nothing will ever compare to how we feel about each other" I add.
"I love you so much" Brittany says as she hugs me back.
"I love you too" I smile.

*Friday 6th September 2024*
I'm just at work right now and so is Brittany while the kids are at daycare as usual. Even though Brittany and I have both been working in the office, we haven't really had a chance to talk to each other all that much. We're both now just taking a break and eating some lunch together and then we'll go back to our own jobs once we've eaten. We're just talking and catching up with each other as we finish lunch.
"I think I might need to go to the grocery store when we finish tonight" Brittany tells me.
"Do you have to; I was hoping we could finish early and just go straight home" I say.
"We've not got much food in the fridge so what will we do about dinner tonight then if I don't go?" Brittany asks me.
"Don't worry about dinner tonight, I have it all covered" I smile.
"You do?" Brittany asks surprised.
"Yeah" I nod. "I am cooking tonight but it's only for the two of us because Jaxon and Xavier are going to spend the night with Carly and Jess tonight" I add.
"Oh" Brittany says surprised.
"My sister wanted to spend some time with the kids since she hadn't seen them in a while so I thought it would be ideal for her to do that tonight because that way, you and I could spend time on our own" I smile.
"Sounds good" Brittany smiles back.
As soon as Brittany and I finished work, we got the kids from daycare and all went home. We spent some time with the children and then got them ready for their sleepover at my sister's place. I'm just about to start dinner preparations so I'm just looking for my wife and children right now because I am going to get Brittany to take the kids to my sister's apartment while I continue with the food.
"Are the boys ready to go?" I ask my wife as I walk into the living room where the three of them are.
"Yeah, all ready" Brittany smiles.
"Ok well, if you take the kids to my sister's place then I'll make a start on dinner while you're out" I smile.
"Ok, sounds like a plan" Brittany smiles back. "Ok boys, let's say goodbye to mom because we're leaving now" she says to Jaxon and Xavier.
"I will see you both tomorrow, I love you" I say as I hug my children goodbye.
"Bye mom" Jaxon smiles at me.
"Bye" Xavier says as he waves at me.
"Bye boys, have fun with auntie Carly" I say.
"I'll try and not be too long" Brittany says as she walks over to me and kisses my cheek.
"Ok but don't feel you need to rush because dinner won't be ready for a little bit since I haven't even started yet" I reply.
"Ok" Brittany smiles.
"I'll walk you all out to the car" I say as I help Brittany to the car with the boys' things.
Once Brittany and the kids leave, I head back inside and do what I need to do to prepare dinner. I then go upstairs and change into some better clothes since I'm planning a romantic night for the two of us. I'm just keeping the food warm and setting the dining room table when I see Brittany's car pull into the drive. I go through to the hall and wait by the front door for Brittany to come in.
"Hi" I smile at my wife as she walks in and closes the door behind her.
"You look amazing right now, like so hot" Brittany says, her jaw almost hitting the floor.
"Thank you. I only designed this dress to wear so you could then take it off" I smirk.
"Don't say things like that right now because I want to do just that and we haven't even eaten yet so we're not ready to go upstairs" Brittany groans.
"Sorry" I smile.
"I'm guessing tonight is a bit of a romantic date night at home for us?" Brittany asks.
"It most certainly is" I nod.
"Sounds great, I am looking forward to it" she smiles.
"Me too so let's get started. I will go and plate up the food" I say.
"Do I have some time to run upstairs and change. There is no way I want to sit here dressed in my casual clothes when you're all dressed up looking sexy" Brittany asks.
"Yeah, there's actually some clothes laid out on the bed for you to wear tonight for this little home date" I smirk.
"Why doesn't that surprise me" Brittany laughs.
"I like what I like" I shrug.
"I won't be long" Brittany smiles.
"Ok" I smile back and then Brittany leaves the room, heading upstairs to get changed.
"Ok, how do I look?" Brittany asks as she comes back downstairs and into the room, twirling around.
"You look so sexy right now" I say, unapologetically checking my wife out. "Like I know I picked the clothes and everything but you look so much hotter than I imagined" I state.
"That's a good thing, right?" Brittany chuckles.
"Oh yeah" I smirk.
"So, can I help with any of the food?" Brittany asks.
"No, I have it all covered so if you'd like to take a seat then I'll be right there" I smile.
"Can't I at least get us some drinks or something?" she asks.
"Ok" I smile. "You sort us both something to drink and I'll take the plates to the dining room" I add.
"Ok" Brittany nods and then we both do what we need to do before sitting down.
"Time to eat so let's start because I am so hungry right now" I say.
"Actually, can I move seats to sit next to you before we start?" Brittany says as she stands up. "I like that you've set the table with us sitting across from each other so we can see each other but I'd rather sit next to you because it means I'm closer to you" she smiles.
"Ok" I smile.
"It's cuter this way" Brittany says as she sits down next to me and takes my hand in hers.
"I like that you always want to be next to me" I smile.
"I like it too hence the reason I do it" she smiles back. "The closer I can be the better I say" she shrugs.
"Come here" I say as I pull her towards me so I can peck her lips. "Now, we should eat but once we're done, we can kiss properly and not just a peck" I smirk.
"Ok" Brittany nods and we begin eating. "So, what's all of this for tonight?" she asks curiously.
"I wanted to treat you and make things special because you deserve it. You've put up with a lot the last few months and I am super grateful to you for that. I really appreciate how understanding you have been with the surrogacy and then it not being a surrogacy and everything" I say honestly.
"I mean I'm not going to lie; things were a bit tough for me at times but I honestly wouldn't have had it any other way. I genuinely wanted to help Quinn so if things had gone in that direction then I would have been ok eventually. I am happy though that it's our baby we're having now" she smiles.
"Me too" I smile back. "So, how's the food?" I ask, changing the topic.
"It's really good, I am enjoying it" Brittany replies.
"I'm glad you like it" I smile as we continue eating.
"Please don't be offended but may I ask something?" Brittany says breaking the slight silence we fell into for a moment.
"Sure" I shrug as I take a sip of my sparkling water.
"This is takeout we're eating, isn't it?" Brittany asks.
"Yes, it is" I laugh. "I am not even going to lie and pretend I made it because I couldn't make something that tastes this good" I add.
"You are one of a kind Santana Lopez, like you're just so adorable" Brittany smiles.
"Thank you" I say smugly.
"Only you would plan a romantic night and say you'll cook but actually buy takeout to pass off as your own" Brittany chuckles.
"The intention was there though babe, I promise" I smile. "Like I did genuinely want tonight to be special so I knew takeout was safer than my cooking" I add.
"I know" Brittany smiles back.
"I mean I timed it all pretty well I think because I got you to take the kids to my sister's place just in time for the delivery to arrive before you got back to notice I wasn't actually cooking" I shrug.
"Yeah, you definitely did because I had no idea what you were up too until I tasted this food" Brittany laughs.
"Exactly" I smile.
"Anyway, I do genuinely appreciate what you're doing tonight so thank you for spoiling me and making time for us on our own" Brittany says.
"Honestly, as I said you deserve to be treated after everything. You have been amazing through everything so I had to thank you in some way" I reply.
We continue eating and just talking to one another, catching up with each other. Brittany then helps me to clear up all the plates and tidy away everything I was using when preparing dinner. We've now just went to the living room so we can sit down and hang out with each other for a while.
"I think I have eaten far too much tonight. My stomach feels so full" I say as I throw myself to the couch.
"I know what you mean" Brittany agrees as she sits down next to me.
"I think I am just going to sit here for a while because I cannot move" I chuckle.
"Me too" Brittany says as she swings her feet up and rests them on my lap.
"I love you babe but don't be getting any ideas, I will not be giving you a foot massage right now" I tease.
"I don't expect one nor do I want one" Brittany shrugs.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I ask amused.
"You're not the best at foot massages. You either go too hard and hurt me or you're so gentle that you end up tickling me" my wife replies.
"Any more cheeky comments and I'll just tickle you right now" I smirk.
"We both know that is not going to happen because neither of us have the energy for messing around since we're so bloated from eating so much" Brittany says.
"Fair point" I laugh.
"Seriously though, thank you for tonight Santana, it's been amazing" Brittany smiles at me.
"You deserve it" I smile back.
"I do miss the kids but it's nice to just have each other's attention for a minute and get to spend some quality time together. I was having to share you a little bit more during the surrogacy so it's been nice tonight to not have to share you" Brittany admits.
"You don't need to worry about that anymore, I promise. You and the kids are my number one priority from now on" I assure her.
"Good to know" Brittany says as she leans in and pecks my lips.
"Actually, with the kids not being here right now then I am completely yours tonight, like all yours" I smirk.
"That is true" Brittany smirks back at me.
"You can have me all to yourself in any way you want" I say flirtatiously as I move to straddle my wife's hips.
"I like the sound of that" Brittany smiles as she rests her hands on my back.
"I'm thinking we could cut to the chase right now and just go upstairs" I smirk.
"Yeah, I mean it's inevitable we'll be heading up there soon anyway for some well needed one on one time" Brittany smirks.
"Ok, let's go" I say as I move off her lap and hold out my hand.
"I'm right behind you" Brittany smiles as she holds onto my hand and we quickly make our way upstairs to our bedroom.

"Round 2?" Brittany asks.
"I love you babe but I couldn't think of anything worse right now" I chuckle.
"Oh…thanks" Brittany says sarcastically as she laughs.
"I didn't mean like it wasn't good. I just meant I couldn't possibly do anything else right now. It was almost touch and go during round 1. I just don't think this kind of activity is good so soon after a big meal" I say.
"Yeah, I kinda get what you mean" Brittany agrees.
"Any more activity and I might throw up everything I've eaten" I laugh.
"That's ok, we can just lie here in each other's arms because that's fun too" Brittany smiles as she wraps her arms around me tightly.

*Tuesday 10th September 2024*
I'm not working today and neither is Brittany because it's a very special day. It's Jaxon's 2nd birthday today so we're going to be celebrating that so there was no way I was going to work and miss out on it. All 4 of us are just spending some time together just now and all of our family and friends are on their way over to join in the celebrations and spend time with the birthday boy. I can't wait until the party starts because Brittany has organised some fun things for Jaxon and everyone else to do.
"Hey, it's just us" I hear my parents say as they walk through the front door.
"We're all in the living room" Brittany replies.
"Ok, where is the birthday boy?" my mom says as she walks into the room.
"Grandma" Jaxon says excitedly as he runs towards her.
"Happy birthday sweetheart" my mom says as she leans down and hugs Jaxon tightly.
"Presents?" Jaxon asks as they pull out of the hug.
"Yes, we have presents for you" my dad laughs.
"You're so much like your mom" my mom laughs.
"Hey, what is that supposed to mean?" I ask amused.
"Just very direct. There were no hellos or how are you? it was just presents" my mom says.
"That does sound like a Santana thing to do and say" Brittany laughs.
"Careful with who you side with" I tease my wife.
"Come on babe, you have to admit you can be like that" Brittany smiles.
"Ok, fine" I laugh.
"Ok, can I get you both a drink?" Brittany asks my parents.
"Yes please, coffee for both of us will be fine" my mom smiles at Brittany.
"Ok I will get on that" Brittany nods before leaving the room.
Eventually everyone else starts to arrive for the party so things are well underway now. All of the kids are playing in the bouncy house outside that we rented and the adults are all mingling with one another. I'm currently just looking for my wife because I haven't seen her that much this afternoon since she's been so busy sorting drinks and everything for everyone. She's practically spent the whole time in the kitchen which I don't like because I want her to enjoy herself today as well as everyone else.
"Ok, put the glass down" I tell Brittany as I walk into the kitchen.
"I'm just getting Mike another drink" Brittany tells me.
"Mike is old enough and ugly enough to get his own drink so stop running behind everyone. I want you to come with me because it's our son's birthday and we'll regret it if we don't spend some time enjoying it with Jaxon" I say.
"Ok" Brittany smiles.
"Come on, let's go and have fun" I say as I take Brittany's hand and lead her out of the kitchen.
"Ok" Brittany nods.
"You know where the kitchen is Mike so you can sort your own beverage. My wife has other plans right now" I say as we walk past Mike and Sam.
"Uh…ok" Mike laughs.
"Mom, mommy!" Jaxon shouts from the bouncy house.
"Hi sweetie" I smile at my son.
"Play?" Jaxon asks.
"Oh, I can't go in the bouncy house sweetie. I'm sorry" I apologise to Jaxon. "Mommy can though" I add as I look at Brittany.
"Yep, sure can" Brittany smiles before joining all the kids in the bouncy house.
"Yeah!" Jaxon shouts excitedly.
"Hey" my sister smiles as she comes over to join me.
"Hey" I reply.
"Jaxon looks like he is having the best time today" Carly smiles.
"Yeah, he really does" I smile. "If I wasn't so pregnant right now, I'd be in that bouncy house with him because he loves it" I add.
"There will be plenty of other times for that I am sure so don't worry" Carly says.
"Yeah, that's true" I nod.

*Saturday 14th September 2024*
The kids are with Brittany's parents for the night because Brittany and I are hanging out with our friends. We're all going to dinner together and then back to Quinn's place for some drinks after. I'll not be drinking alcohol since I'm pregnant but I'm happy to go along for the ride and have fun. Brittany and I are just getting ready to go out just now so we're getting changed and doing our hair and makeup.
"Shall I wear my hair up or down tonight?" I ask my wife.
"Either looks great babe" Brittany smiles.
"What are you doing with your hair?" I ask.
"I'm tying it up tonight because it's getting a bit unmanageable at the moment so I want my hair up and out of face" Brittany replies.
"Ok well I will tie mine up too and we can be matching" I smile as I start doing my hair.
"Sounds good" Brittany says as she walks towards me and wraps her arms around me from behind. "Do you know, it's probably best you tie your hair up right now because it makes it easier for me to do this" she says as she leans in and kisses my neck.
"Babe…we shouldn't" I groan.
"I'm not really doing much" Brittany shrugs as she pauses what she's doing.
"I know but it's what it's going to lead too. If you keep doing it then I'll want to do something else and we don't have time for anything else when we need to leave soon" I state.
"Ok, I'll behave now" Brittany says as she places a kiss to my cheek before pulling away.
As soon as Brittany and I are ready for the night, we make our way downstairs. I grab my car keys and then we head out, making our way to the restaurant. As usual all of our friends are already there when we arrive. We greet them all before quickly taking a seat so we don't keep them back any longer. They've all waited patiently for us to arrive so the least we could do is take our seats and finally allow everyone to order some drinks now that we're here.
"Will we get some wine for the table?" Quinn asks.
"Sam will probably order a beer but I'll take some wine" Mercedes replies.
"Not for me obviously but Britt, do you want some wine?" I ask my wife.
"Yeah, I might as well" Brittany smiles.
"I'm going to have beer so no wine for me" James says.
"Same, I'll have beer not wine" Mike nods.
"Tina?" I ask.
"Um…I'm not drinking tonight" Tina replies.
"Why not?" I ask confused.
"I just thought I might take a break from alcohol for a little bit" Tina shrugs.
"You're not a big drinker in general though so why would you need to take a break. I mean surely you can have one night to have some alcohol" Mercedes points out.
"I just don't really feel like drinking, it's no big deal guys" Tina shrugs again.
"Hold on a second" I say just realising something.
"What's wrong?" Brittany asks looking at me confused.
"Tina, are you pregnant?" I ask.
"Yeah" Tina says quietly while nodding.
"That's fantastic, why didn't you just say?" Mercedes smiles.
"Yeah, it's great news" Brittany adds.
"You know with everything going on then I didn't know if now was the right time to spill the news" Tina says nervously.
"Wait…you mean with the surrogacy?" I ask.
"Yeah" Tina nods.
"It's ok Tina, I don't expect any of you not to have children just because I can't. Eventually James and I might look into surrogacy again so please don't feel the need to hide these amazing things from us" Quinn assures her.
"Are you sure?" Tina asks worriedly.
"Of course, I am. It's great news so please don't hide it just because of mine and James's situation" Quinn smiles.
"Honestly, we're happy for you both" James smiles.
"Thanks" Mike smiles.
After dinner, we all headed to Quinn and James's place and continued our night hanging out. It was actually a pretty good night because we don't get to hang out as much anymore since we're all so busy with our own lives. Brittany and I haven't long arrived home so we've just locked up the house and now we're getting ready for bed.
"Hey you ok, you've been pretty quiet since we got home?" Brittany asks me concerned.
"I've just got something on my mind but don't worry" I smile slightly.
"You can tell me babe" Brittany smiles.
"I just feel really bad for Quinn. Not only are we having another baby but now Mike and Tina are. We've all got kids now apart from Quinn and James. I mean Mercedes isn't pregnant but she's still got a daughter so I feel so bad for Quinn missing out" I sigh.
"I know what you mean but she'll have kids eventually, it's not the end. If she can't afford surrogacy then we'll all chip in and help or maybe adoption is the way to go. It's a really tough time right now but this isn't going to be forever" Brittany points out.
"I know and I know she says she's happy for all of us but I know my best friend so I know she's devastated inside but putting on a brave face" I say.
"Yeah, I do agree she is still sad about the whole situation but I also do believe she is happy for us and Tina and Mike. I don't think she wouldn't be happy about her best friends having a family" Brittany says.
"No, I do know she is happy for all of us. I'm just saying, I know she is sad too but just isn't saying it" I point out.
"All we can do right now is be there for her and help her and once she's ready she can look into her options again" Brittany says.
"Yeah" I nod.
"Hey, come here" Brittany says as she opens up her arms.
"I'll be fine in a second" I say as I walk towards Brittany where she puts her arms around me and hugs me.
"I know you will" Brittany smiles.
