Chapter 10: Battle For The Forest Badge! Vs. Grass-Leader Gardenia!
During breakfast the following morning, Michael was quickly going over a few things with Primarina and his five new Grass-Type catches.
Fluttershy - "Good morning Michael. May I ask what you're doing today?"
Michael - "Morning to you too Fluttershy. And while you girls are gonna cheer Bijou during her Gym Challenge, I'm gonna do some early catching before mine. As well as see how strong Primarina, Leafeon, and the others are."
Soon the others walked in. Michael again explained to them what he was gonna do during Bijou's gym challenge.
Twilight - "Hopefully you all have fun during the training."
Michael - "We will. You'll contact me after Bijou wins, right?"
Rarity - "Of course."
Michael - "However, before I begin. There's something I need to show you all."
Fauna - "What is it?"
Michael - "Cottonee, Petilil. Can you both come out please?"
Both Grass-Types then appeared in front of Michael, along with Primarina, Leafeon, Fomantis, and Bounsweet.
Cottonee - "What do you need us for Michael?"
Michael answered Cottonee's question by placing a Sun Stone in front of her and Petilil.
Michael - "I've asked the numerous Pokémon that have evolved by stone before this very same question. The choice if you two want to evolve is entirely up to you both."
Cottonee and Petilil stared at each other for a second, then they walked over and touched the Sun Stone in front of them. After a few moments, the bright light of evolution disappeared to reveal two new Pokémon.
Michael - "Yay! Cottonee and Petilil are now Whimsicott and Lilligant!"
Sabrina - "But why does your Lilligant look different?'
Everyone else then noticed what Sabrina was talking about.
Michael - "Fauna. You have your Lilligant, right?"
Fauna - "Of course."
Fauna then brought out her own Lilligant. Michael had the pair next to each other, upon which he quickly saw the reason why for the differences for appearance.
Michael - "So that's it…"
Kronii - "What's up Michael?"
Michael - "From what I can tell, this version of my Lilligant is her Hisuian form."
Twilight - "So this is…"
Michael - "Second caught, third seen."
Rarity - "We know you already caught Hisuian Qwilfish, but who's the other encounter?"
Michael - "Believe it or not, but Bijou here has it with her Arcanine."
Bijou then brought out her Arcanine, which had a very different appearance from how it normally looked.
Sabrina - "What's up with Arcanine?"
Michael - "This is Arcanine's Hisuian form. In fact, Arcanine here is one of only sixteen Pokémon with a Hisuian form."
Clair - "How many other Pokémon have you caught without seeing their Hisuian form at so far?"
Michael - "So far, just Voltorb, Electrode, Typhlosion, Sneasel, Samurott, and Decidueye. Along with the fact that Hisuian Qwilfish and Hisuian Sneasel gained an evolution too."
Fauna - "That sounds like a lot of fun to encounter."
Michael - "Oh I know it will be. Anyway. I better get going. Good luck with your gym challenge Bijou."
Bijou - "Thanks Michael. Same to you when you get back."
Michael - "Thanks."
Michael then led Primarina, Leafeon, Fomantis, Bounsweet, Lilligant, and Whimsicott out to the western end of Route 213. Along the way, they came across a pair of statues in the middle of the city.
Primarina - "Michael. May I ask what these statues are about?"
Michael - "Of course Primarina. These statues are of Lord Dialga and his brother, Lord Palkia. Shame it's just the two of them though."
Leafeon - "There's a third?"
Michael - "Yes. Lady Giratina, Lord Dialga and Lord Palkia's sister. But it's mostly due to the lore around her, along with WHERE she is, that there's not a statue for her here at all."
Formantis - "Her lore?"
Michael - "That's correct. I mostly believe that Lady Giratina was completely misunderstood due to her appearance. Along with the fact that she may spoke out against her mother, Lady Arceus. This in turn led to Giratina being banished to the Distortion World, where she's been ever since."
Whimsicott - "Where is the Distortion World?"
Michael - "No one knows for sure. But from what I HAVE been able to tell, there's two main entrances. Now yes, Lady Giratina can go between realms whenever she wants to, but for the rest of us, there's only two ways in and out of the Distortion World. One is at the Spear Pillar, which is at the peak of Mt. Coronet. As for the other one, it's somewhere on the eastern side of Sinnoh, but I haven't been able to pinpoint where just yet."
Bounsweet - "Well here's hoping we can help you find it."
Michael - "Thanks. That means a lot."
Soon they finally arrived at Route 213.
Michael - "Ok. Before we begin, there's a couple of Pokémon that I want to catch here in Bronzor and Chingling. Whimsicott. Despite how many Types Bronzor resists, I'm letting you take care of him due to how much stronger you are."
Whimsicott - "Yes sir!"
Michael - "As for Chingling, I'll leave that to Fomantis. How are you feeling by the way?"
Fomantis - "Leave it to me! And I'm feeling just fine!"
Michael - "Good. Now let's get started on your training."
Then the training was finally underway. While the rest of the girls focused on their own training for a bit, Michael mainly watched Whimsicott and Fomantis was they made quick work of Bronzor and Chingling, making is very east for Michael to catch them. Then he had them join the others. During the training, Bounsweet had evolved into Steenee.
Michael - "Congrats on evolving Steenee."
Steenee - "Thanks Michael. I already know I'm feeling stronger. Also, how do I evolve again?"
Michael - "You need to learn the move Stomp. Only then will you evolve."
Steenee - "Yes sir."
As Steenee ran off to resume her training, Michael looked over to see Fomantis staring at them. She then went back to her own training as michael walked over to her.
Michael - "You okay there Fomantis?"
Fomantis - "I'm fine Michael. Just need to keep up what I'm doing and keep working to get stronger."
Michael - "That's the spirit. Just make sure to not overwork yourself. Ok?"
Fomantis - "Of course."
After a bit more training was done, Michael called the girls in.
Michael - "Ok ladies. Time for a deserved break before we head over to Eterna Forest."
Leafeon - "What's over there?"
Michael - "The Old Chateau. Rumor has it of a mysterious Pokémon's hiding in there."
Whimsicott - "Do you know what the Pokémon is called?"
Michael - "Rotom. According to what I've learned, Rotom has the MOST different forms that he can change between with six. But, the only way he can change forms is by taking control of different appliances. His secondary Typing changes based on the appliance as well. Base form is Electric/Ghost. Heat form is Electric/Fire. Wash form is Electric/Water. Mow form is Electric/Grass. Fan form is Electric/Flying. And finally Fridge form is Electric/Ice. Along with all but base form having a signature move in Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, Leaf Storm, Blizzard, and Air Slash."
Lilligant - "Wow. That's quite a "diverse" move set for a single Pokémon."
Michael - "True. But the only problem is that Rotom's stuck in the form you decide for it unless switch appliances."
Primarina - "Hopefully we can find a way to overcome that."
Michael - "That's also why I want to let Fomantis and Steenee get an extra bit of training in before we even bother trying the enter the Old Chateau. Might as well have the both of fully evolved before we challenge the place."
Fomantis - "That's fair."
Once their break was over, the mini party made their way over to Eterna Forest. Upon entering the forest, Michael quickly had Fomantis and Steenee resume their training from back on Route 213. During the training, Steenee had finally learned Stomp, upon which caused her to evolve into Tsareena. Then Fomantis followed suit by quickly evolving into Lurantis.
Michael - "Congrats on finally evolving you two. Now let's get to tackling the Old Chateau."
Girls - "Yes sir!"
But just as they started walking towards the Old Chateau, something moves, or more rolled, in their way.
Leafeon - "What's that Michael?"
The unknown figure revealed themselves to be…
Michael - "A Hisuian Voltorb!"
Lurantis - "Is that rare?"
Michael - "Very rare, my dear Lurantis. In fact, why don't you test out your new moves in it. I intend to catch it anyway."
Lurantis - "Yes sir!"
Michael then activated his Battle Disk as Lurantis got ready to battle.

Hisuian Voltorb fired off his attack at Lurantis, but it did next to nothing against her. Lurantis then responded with her own attack, restraining herself so Michael could catch Hisuian Voltorb.
Lurantis - "Now Michael!"
Michael - "Go Ultra Ball!"
Michael threw the Ultra Ball at Hisuian Voltorb, hitting him on the head and sucking him into it.

Michael walked over smiling as he picked up his latest catch.
Michael - "Alright! I just caught a Hisuian Voltorb!"
Lurantis - "Yay!"
Michael - "Thanks for the assist in catching him Lurantis. Now then. Let's get to catching Rotom girls!"
Girls - "Right!"
With that, the mini-party entered the Old Chateau.
Primarina - "So what's the history with this place?"
Michael - "According to what I learned, it was originally owned by a Mr. Backlot, whose original home here in Sinnoh is the Pokémon Mansion south of Hearthome City on Route 212. Anyway, Mr. Backlot had gotten severely spooked when he owned this place, which then led to him abandoning it. He had also hired his own personal security for safety reasons."
Lilligant - "Besides Rotom and the entire Gastly line, what else caused Mr. Backlot to flee here?"
Michael - "Sadly, despite Rotom being known to have a mischievous nature, his seemingly innocent pranks unfortunately took the lives of a few people."
Just as Michael said that, the mini-party entered the dining room where they came across the spirit of an old man. No one said anything as they silently watched the old spirit float off to the left of the dining room before disappearing completely.
Leafeon - "Was that…?"
Michael - "Yes. A spirit of one of the people, mainly a former butler, that Rotom's "pranks" killed."
Lurantis - "You think there's more of those lost spirits around here?"
Michael - "Perhaps. Can't say for sure until we come across them."
Soon they left the dining room and slowly made their way to Old Chateau's 2nd floor. While searching the rooms in the back, Michael and Tsareena came across a room with a TV that was weirdly on in it.
Michael - "Girls. I think Tsareena and I found Rotom."
The rest of the girls joined Michael and Tsareena, who were watching the TV. Michael then slowly walked over and gently hit the TV. Suddenly, Rotom appeared on the screen. He then tried to attack Michael by launching himself out of the TV, but missed because Michael read the attack and jumped back in time.
Michael - "Tsareena!"
Tsareena - "Right!"
Michael quickly activated his Battle Disk as Tsareena rushed forward to intercept Rotom.
Rotom: Attack +1, Defense +1, Sp. Attack +1, Sp. Defense +1, Speed +1

Rotom - "So then? Can you all survive when I can constantly change forms?"
Michael - "Well then I have to apologize to you Rotom."
Rotom - "What do you mean by that?"
Michael - "Simple. I activated Forced Form!"
Rotom - "Forced Form?!"
Michael - "That's correct. For the rest of this battle, I choose your current form, and you're stuck in it for the whole thing."
Rotom - "Aw circuits…"
Michael - "And I choose…Wash Form!"
Everyone watched as Rotom suddenly possessed an abandoned washing machine.
Rotom - "Oh well. Make use of this as best I can. Hydro Dis Hex!"
Michael - "Physical Booster! Rough Zen Seed Façade!"
Michael's Hand: 6 - 2 = 4

Michael threw the Ultra Ball at Rotom, hitting him and getting sucked into it.

Michael smiled as he walked over and picked up the Ultra Ball.
Michael - "Alright! I just caught a Rotom!"
Tsareena - "Victory!"
Michael then quickly sent his four newest catches home.
Michael - "Ok girls. That should be all here. Now let's return to Eterna City so I can prepare for my gym challenge."
Girls - "Yes sir!"
Soon the mini-party returned to Eterna City. There they reunited with everyone else at the Pokémon Center.
Twilight - "There you all are. What kept you?"
Michael - "Sorry about that. Didn't think the training would take longer than it did."
Clair - "That's ok. So, how did it go?"
Michael - "Look and see for yourselves."
The girls were then amazed to Michael's two newest additions.
Fluttershy - "Nice to see that Fomantis and Bounsweet are now fully evolved."
Rarity - "Did you catch anything new?"
Michael - "Only four new catches. Bronzor, Chingling, Hisuian Voltorb, and Rotom."
The girls were stunned at the last two catches.
Kronii - "I know of Rotom due to the Old Chateau in the forest. But how did you get a Hisuian Rotom?"
Michael - "Well don't forget that Sinnoh was originally Hisui back then. So it's safe to safe thar Hisuian forms of certain Pokemon could be somewhere across the region."
Roxanne - "He's not wrong there."
Michael - "By the way. How'd your gym challenge go Bijou?"
Bijou - "It was a MASSIVE uphill battle. But I somehow won despite the type disadvantage."
Michael - "Good to hear. Guess it's time for my gym challenge then."
Fauna - "It's not just Gardenia you're battling. You're battling her older brother Milo as well."
Michael - "Ah right."
Soon the party made their way over to the gym. While the girls made their way into the stands, Michael walked over to the battlefield. There he found Milo and Samantha waiting for him.
Milo - "When you and your friends reach Galar, my gym's the first one challengers face, so expect to see a lot of people there. I do try to keep my gym mission's challenging, but…something tells me that it'll be a cakewalk for you, Michael! And as far as I can see, you truly understand Pokémon real well. This'll be a doozy of a battle!"
Samantha - "This is a 1-On-1 battle between Turffield Gym Leader Milo and Michael Masi of Pokémon Island. The battle will continue until either one or both Pokémon are knocked out. Are both sides ready?"
Milo - "Go Eldegoss!"
Michael - "Lilligant I choose you!"

Milo - "The power of Grass has wilted… What an incredible opponent!"

Samantha - "Eldegoss has been knocked out. So Michael Masi and Lilligant win the battle!"
Milo - "That was sure a fulfilling Pokémon battle for you! I already know you'll give my little sis a run for her money!"
Michael watched as Milo went into the stands, being replaced by his little sister Gardenia.
Gardenia - "You kept me waiting! I'm Eterna City's Gym Leader, Gardenia, the Grass-Type master! When I first saw you, I was convinced you'd challenge me. My hunch was right on the money. You have a winning aura about you. So, anyway, this will be fun. Let's have our battle!"
Samantha - "This is a 3-on-all battle between Gym Leader Gardenia and challenger Michael Masi of Pokémon Island! The battle will continue until all Pokémon on one side are unable to battle! Are both sides ready?"
Both trainers activated their Battle Disks.
Gardenia - "Go Grotle!"
Michael - "Leafeon I choose you!"

Gardenia returned Grotle.
Gardenia - "Thank you Grotle. You gave it your best. Get a good rest. Go Cherrim!"
Samantha - "Will you change Pokémon challenger Michael?"
Michael crossed his arms, silently saying no.

Gardenia - "Thank you Cherrim. You gave it your best. Get a good rest. Go Roserade! And I'll end my Booster as well!"

Michael crossed his arms, silently saying no again.
Michael - "However I'll end my Boosters as well."
