Chapter 12: The Full Truth Revealed! Cynthia & Mars Quit On Team Galactic?

Upon arriving in Oreburgh City to have a quick break for lunch. Michael then wondered how things were going for Cynthia and Mars after he asked the both of them about learning the real truth.

Michael - "Hope those two haven't gotten themselves in trouble for trying to learn the real truth."

-At Team Galactic's HQ In Veilstone City-

Cynthia had rode the back of her Garchomp over to Team Galactic's HQ. upon entering HQ, she quickly found the one person she was looking for.

Cynthia - "Ah. There you are Mars."

Mars turned to see Cynthia walking over to her.

Mars - "Ah hello there Cynthia. Do you need something?"

Cynthia - "Is Cyrus in his office right now?"

Mars was a bit stunned at Cynthia's question, but answered honestly anyway.

Mars - "No. He's out across the region right now. Why do you ask?"

Cynthia - "Follow me. I'll explain on the way to his office."

Cynthia quickly marched her way to Cyrus' office, Mars right behind her. After a few minutes, the female duo finally arrived at Cyrus' office.

Mars - "Are you sure about this Cynthia?"

Cynthia - "100% sure Mars. Michael said I need to discover the "real" truth. And something tells me that's here in Cyrus' office."

Mars - "If you say so then."

Cynthia unlocked the electric door with the copy of the office key Cyrus had given her. Both women then quickly made their way over to the desk. Mars went looking through the files on it, while Cynthia searched on the desktop. After a few moments. Mars came across a file that caught her eye.

Mars - "That's strange…"

Cynthia - "What is it Mars?"

Mars - "This mission file was reported to have been completed over a year ago. But then why is it still here on his desk…?"

Mars handed the file to Cynthia so she could look at it.

Cynthia - "Operation Pokémon Soul?"

Mars - "That's correct. Cyrus barely told me, Jupiter, and Saturn about it. But it was reported to have been a success over a year ago…"

Mars then remembered what Michael had said to her before their battle at the Valley Windworks.

Michael - "You're battling…Against The Trainer That Your Boss Nearly Had Killed!"

Mars - "Could this be what Michael meant? The operation did succeed, but he was nearly killed as a result of it."

Cynthia skimmed the file herself, stunned at what it contained. She then put it down and went back to looking at the desktop computer. She then spotted something.

Cynthia - "Come look at this."

Mars walked over to stand next to Cynthia, seeing that she found a video on the computer.

Mars - "What's this?"

Cynthia - "Seems like a video call between Cyrus and Team Plasma's leader Ghetsis."

Cynthia pressed play on the video.

Ghetsis - "Ah Cyrus. Good to hear from you."

Cyrus - "Same to you Ghetsis. So as we were talking about Operation Pokémon Soul?"

Ghetsis - "Of course. Everything was going right for us to take the powers of Lady Reshiram and Lady Xerneas. But then that damn brat just had to interfere."

Cynthia paused the video as she and Mars shared a glance with each other. But then just as she went to resume the video, Mars spotted something.

Mars - "Wait a sec Cynthia."

Cynthia - "What is it?"

Mars - "There's a second video here. And I think it may have something to do with their failed experiment."

Cynthia quickly clicked on the second video and let it play. It only took a few watches, but both woman were completely speechless after understanding the full events of it.

-Back With The Party-

After having lunch at Oreburgh City's Pokémon Center, the party returned to the southern end of Route 206, then turned east and walked onto Route 207. Soon they came to Mt. Coronet.

Twilight - "Michael. Is this…?"

Michael - "Yes Twilight. Mt. Coronet. Or more the southern half of it. The biggest mountain range in all of Hisui, as well as Sinnoh when the region changed names, and one of the biggest in the entire world."

Sabrina - "So we just get through here, and we're closer to Hearthome City, right?"

Michael - "That's correct Sabrina. Now let's get moving."

Michael quickly led the girls into Mt. Coronet. As they reached what they believed to be the halfway point inside the cave, a tall man with cyan blue hair approached them.

Cyrus - "According to one theory, Mt. Coronet is where the Sinnoh region began."

Cyrus paused and looked north.

Cyrus - "…In a newly created world… A world where only time flowed and space expanded… There should've been no strife. But what became of that world? Because the human spirit is weak and incomplete, strife has spread… This world is being ruined by it… I find this state of affairs to be deplorable…"

Cyrus then walked through the party and left.

Sabrina - "Well he was weird."

Twilight turned towards Michael and noticed his tightly clenched right hand, which was now bleeding.

Twilight - "Michael! Your hand!"

Michael's mind then suddenly returned to reality. He had gotten so angry listening to what Cyrus said that he had roughly clenched his right fist without even realizing it. Fluttershy and Fauna then came over and bandaged up Michael's hand."

Clair - "You ok there Michael?"

Michael - "I'm just fine Clair. Sorry for worrying you and the others."

Michael then walked towards Route 208. Meanwhile the girls talked amongst themselves.

Kronii - "Whatever that guy said, it really got to Michael."

Gardenia - "Well whatever's bothering him, I'm sure he'll take about it when the time's right."

What the girls didn't know was that Michael HAD heard them.

Michael - "Sorry girls. But until I know more of the facts, I HAVE to keep quiet."

-A Few Hours Later At Team Galactic's HQ-

After a somewhat tiring day, Cyrus had finally returned to his office. As he went to sit in his chair, he noticed a pair if papers on top of his desk.

Cyrus - "What's this?"

Cyrus took a few moments reading the papers, each second passing with him getting more and more angry every time. He then bolted up from his desk chair in rage and quickly exited his office. The pair of papers only had a combined four words. But they were words that Cyrus NEVER wanted to hear or told to him.

"I quit/We're done"
