Here is the next chapter. Please read and review thank you love Hermione xxx
Damian went on to his charms lesson next, a class which he was highly excited for. He did so love charms. Knowing the things which should be taught and how to do them were two different things as he was clearly learning. Being the new Lord Slytherin did not mean he knew how to do everything even though he knew what should be taught some of the time. He didn't know everything which needed to be taught only the odd charm here and there. He'd still be learning just like everyone else. He groaned in frustration when he entered the classroom which had tiered seating in it. There was a huge pile of books in the centre of the room with steps behind them which greatly confused him. Who had put them there and why were they there? It was a danger to have something so high in a room for charms where not everyone might be able to see the teacher due to the tiered seating arrangement.
As Professor Flitwick entered heading towards the stack of books he then realised what it was doing there and was furious. This was so dangerous he couldn't believe no one had ever said anything about it. Had they all just assumed that because he was so very short that he had no other options.
"Please don't tell me sir that you are about to climb on top of that highly dangerous pile of books in a charms classroom. Not only can we not all see you like that if someone did something wrong on accident those books could tumble and you along with them!" he accused as Filius looked shocked to the core.
"But Mr Dursley I have to use them because of my height. I am not tall as you can see and it would be very hard for others to see me otherwise. I have always done things this way for this exact reason as people complain they cannot see me otherwise. Do you have another suggestion?" he asked calmly secretly impressed with his students level of care for his wellbeing.
"Perhaps a platform that was made of a sturdy wood going the length of the classroom with some steps leading up to it. That way you can walk the length of your classroom demonstrating and correcting and we can all see you!" he said as Filius seemed confused for a moment and then smacked his own forehead.
"Why didn't I think of that? Well done Mr Dursley and take ten points to Slytherin please. I am ashamed to say you are the only person who has ever given me such sound advice. People have complained about it from time to time but as no one has ever been able to solve the problem it has stayed as it is. One moment please. Hogwarts house elf!" he called out as an elf came into his classroom smiling at him brightly.
"Yes Mr Filly. How can I help you I be Moo!" she said happily.
"Thank you Moo. Can you please banish this stack of books and get me a platform the length of this room that I can walk on during my classes. Is one available?" he asked as she thought for a moment.
"I will check and return!" she said leaving in a flash. A few minutes later she returned.
"Mr Filly please step aside!" she said clicking her fingers as the stack of books and steps disappeared to be replaced with a folding stage like one you might use for modelling in the muggle world. It was all they had available to them right now.
"You is be climbing on it like this and walking along it like this. When you are done gets down and be pressing this button here and it's be folding away into a small square!" she said demonstrating as those in the class gasped.
"Thank you so much Moo" he said hugging her as she smiled.
"Oh Mr Filly is so good yes he is! Tonight he will find cookies and milk by his bed yes he will!" she said cooing at him like one would normally do with a kitten. It was very cute to behold. She left and then he progressed with the lesson. Ron having been scared by his mums outburst was determined to do better then Percy shocked when as he tried to write with a quill it went to hell. He had spilled ink and ink splotches all over his parchment. Damian handed him an ink filled quill with a metal nib on the end and instructed him to use it instead of the regular quill.
"Here Ron use this. I use these all the time and they are much better then quills!" he said winking at Hermione who rolled her eyes and blushed profusely. Professor Flitwick came over as he said that and looked at him seriously.
"Mr Dursley what do you have there?" he asked seriously. Hermione worried her lip between her teeth thinking he might be getting in trouble for something she had told him before was not ok to be using. If he did she'd be telling him she told him so but she'd also be caring for him greatly too blushing as an imaghe of her running her hands through his hair flashed in her mind and made him sigh in contentment to the confusion of the Professor.
"Well sir my magical guardian saw how bad I was at using a quill and ink so he gave me a special quill which has all of the ink inside it. He said he got it in the muggle world but it really does work wonders when he is filling out reports at work in the Ministry of Magic!" he said as Filius smiled in awe.
"Mr Dursley do you have many of those on you at school?" he asked as Damian smiled.
"Yes I have a couple of them. They come with this cartridge which contains the ink. You simply screw off the tip and push it in like so. When you hear it click it means it's connected. Then you screw it back on and you can write as normal. The first time you write after new ink has been connected it can be a bit messy so just try writing one or two words on some spare parchment and as soon as they write normally and clearly you'll be ready to go sir!" he responded happily as Hermione looked furious at the teachers extreme interest in them. She had refused to use them because she considered it cheating. She didn't want him getting in trouble but also thought that the teacher really should tell him he was wrong for it as well.
"But sir isn't that cheating!? I mean we use quills and ink here for a reason!" she said sounding very annoyed and unable to contain herself any longer.
"Yes we do Miss Granger but as Mr Weasley has just demonstrated it can be messy and cause unnecessary stress to the pupil. I will borrow Mr Dursley's quill now and write some things for myself. As a Ravenclaw myself it would not be good if I did not compare the two to come up with my own conclusion on what is best. You would do well to remember that in future. Not everything is black and white you know!" he said sternly without removing points. He took the spare one Damian had on him and began to write something with it gasping.
"But why don't we use these? These are so much better! My hand doesn't cramp like hell and there's no mess. I will pay you for this Mr Dursley and I will bring it up with the board. I want to make these mandatory for all students. How long does each ink cartridge last?" he asked him seriously very interested in it.
"Well each cartridge lasts one whole week. It needs to be changed each week. I would guess that each student would need something like forty cartridges on them to be changed each week on Sundays. I say Sundays because there are no classes then and it will be easier to change it then to be prepared for the week ahead. Some people might need two or three cartridges a week though depending on how much they write. I am only guessing they'd need one a week" he responded happily. Hermione was made to use it by Professor Flitwick who wished to prove a point. She did use it and eventually caved after realising it was much easier to use and wasn't cheating. Draco Malfoy tried to complain too but once he used it although he hated admitting it he was forced to say it was better.
As Professor Flitwick continued to go through the theory of charms and why they use them Ron found taking his notes much easier. His writing was much easier and neater after that too.
"Now before we go I thought we might all try a charm. It's the charm which will give you light. It doesn't have any movements to it either. You simply hold your wands out in front of you and saw the words Lumos to light the light and then you say the word nox to extinguish the light again. Off you go now and I'll walk around to check on you all!" he said. Damian, Dean, Dudley, Zach, Hermione and Neville all got it the first round shocking him greatly. No one ever got it the first time around usually. Ron wanting to do well and remembering what he'd said about not moving the wand cast the spell and had a very powerful light coming from his wand. It was so powerful that it blinded people for a while until he quickly called nox.
"Mr Weasley stand still please. I need to scan you for a moment. The reaction to the spell was not normal at all so you have something wrong with you but it's nothing to worry about I'm sure!" he said scanning Ron as a golden light appeared around him with a few black cracks in it all over it's surface.
"Ok so I will summon a potion and you should drink it. This is telling me that someone or something blocked off your core and now it's releasing too much in order to try and escape all in one go or fix itself. This is unhealthy and I will fix it for you properly now!" he said handing Ron a small smoking vial of blue liquid which he downed quickly. It tasted faintly of ginger. He actually liked it shocked as he burped a huge blast of flames and sparks coming from his mouth for a moment until they stopped.
"Great it has worked. Try casting it again!" he instructed as Ron did so his light still very bright but not so much it would blind people anymore.
"Well done to you all. Ten points to Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Thirty points to Slytherin and twenty points to Hufflepuff. For your homework I want two pages of parchment on the lumos charm, it's uses and the one other secret use it has. Class dismissed now let's go and get some dinner!" he said as they all made their way to the Great Hall for dinner that evening. It had been a great charms lesson. Hermione felt awful as she had done the one thing she hated in others and merely assumed she was right no matter what. It had gotten her in trouble. True Professor Flitwick didn't punish her but he was disappointed in her and she could see it in his eyes.
Damian stopped her before they entered the hall.
"Hermione I know that look. Don't be so hard on yourself please!" he said smirking as the image of a deep kiss flashed in his mind which Hermione was thinking about. He leaned in and kissed her deeply eliciting a great moan from her. It had been wonderful and just the stress reliever she'd needed.
"Thank you Damian. I needed that for sure. Enjoy your dinner!" she said squeezing his hand and entering the great hall. That was amazing and he was literally beaming and vibrating with joy from it. Severus too was delighted when he learned that three of his first years had earned thirty house points in their last class. He was thrilled as they would surely be close to winning the house cup this year at this stage.
