So here we get in one of the first real lessons Stripes learns in this chapter and also realizing she accidentally set off Von Kaiser's PTSD will cause her to do certain other things later on in the story

And that was the moment Stripes understood she had gone too far...In all her training as a nurse, that had caused her to think of herself as a kind and gentle creature, a gentle giant completely unlike her ferocious ancestors...Seeing her fellow students and the other boxers trembling made her realize that she was still a freaking tiger! And the little tantrum she had just thrown was unacceptable!

And in particular, she saw Von Kaiser sitting on a stool, trembling violently! Glass Joe was standing beside him telling him to take deep breaths, beside Joe was his wife Dana, the Mutant Doberman turned her muddy brown eyes to Stripes and the glare she gave spoke of a fury that she was just barely kept in check! A glare that said 'The human men are far more merciful than I would have been, you do that again and I will tan your tawny hide!'

And feeling immense shame and regret, Stripes rubbed her arm and could barely squeak out "I'm sorry...I'll show myself out…"

And as Stripes began making her way toward the door, Bear Hugger went over to her.

"Now hang on!" The Lumberjack said "There's no need for you to leave! We've said worst things to each other on our off-days! You're our student, and one of the reasons we volunteered to teach you was so this could be a place where humans and mutants can get to know each other! Of course things are gonna get a little heated sometimes but here in the WVBA we're used to that! As long as you can learn from your mistakes you're still welcome here!"

"Are you really sure?" Stripes asked as she wiped away some tears

"Sure I'm sure!" Bear Hugger said "And...I recognize your accent...You're a fellow Canuk aren't you?"

"I was brought up in a lab deep in the Western Canadian wilderness…"
Stripes said "...There we were trained on how to be nurses…"

"Nurses? Well that's just great!" Bear Hugger laughed his big jolly laugh "Lord knows we can always use some of them around here! And seeing we got Mutants here now...A Mutant Nurse might be more important!"

Stripes didn't have the heart to tell him yet, she was trained specifically for treating humans and if they wanted someone to treat a Mutant Animal they would probably be better off consulting a veterinarian.

"Anyway…" Said Bear Hugger "...Dry your tears, we'll get Von Kaiser calmed down soon enough…"

And with that Bear Hugger gave Stripes one of his famous 'Bear Hugs' he was one of the few men large and strong enough that he could lift the Bengal Tigress off her feet! Sheer brute strength wasn't the reason Bear Hugger felt fear of the Tiger during her rant, it was the matter of her fangs and claws that posed the danger to him, basically like bringing knives to a boxing match.

As he set Stripes down, the Tigress felt flustered but in a good way...Bear Hugger had know way of knowing that one of the reasons Stripes had specifically been created...Why her 'Father' chose a Tiger for mutation was so they could have an Animal Nurse large and strong enough to be able to restrain any human patient, basically her special ability was also to give 'bear hugs' but here Stripes realized here was a human man too large for even her to wrap her arms around and she instead got a 'taste of her own medicine' but she decided she liked that there was someone who could restrain her if she ever needed it, it felt rather pleasant…

And then Bacon Bit came up to Von Kaiser still shaking and trembling, Bacon Bit softly snorted and nuzzled his knee like a cat!

Von Kaiser opened his eyes and saw the Mutant Piglet nuzzling him…

"Is there...Anything I can do?" Bacon Bit asked amazed seeing one of the humans who had saved her brought to this state.

Tenderly Von Kaiser lay his hand on her soft brown 'head-fur' again, he marveled at how it was as soft as human head hair, didn't feel as coarse as pig bristles at all!

He ruffled the hair a little bit, and Bacon Bit smiled at the feeling and let out a few happy snorts, Von Kaiser smiled.

Stripes watched this with intense interest…

So next chapter we get back into flashbacks, imagining where this Von Kaiser got his PTSD, since the year is 2006 well as one of the oldest boxers and his birthplace is Berlin, the incident very likely was related to the cold war, weather or not we'll get further into it is yet to be seen
