APPEARANCE
Jayla is a taller than-average teenage girl and has grown her hair to reach her waist. She usually keeps it in a loose retro bouffant style but does her two-toned hair differently, like on the night of the Yule Ball, Jayla has her two-toned hair in loose retro waves that makes her look elegant. Jayla has platinum blond and black coloured hair that she inherited as the firstborn heir of the House of Darkmore. Jayla has beautiful ocean blue eyes and smooth, flawless fair skin, and the House of Darkmore's insignia is tattooed on her left inner wrist, which is magically imprinted upon birth. Last year, Jayla was attacked by Buckbeak at the beginning of the year and jumped in the way to save Draco, receiving a long, large talon scar on her left shoulder that is faintly healed.
Jayla no longer wears the Victorian gothic Lolita-type style that her mother made her wear, letting her daughter pick after talking to her out of dressing her. Still, she hates seeing the sad look in her mother's eyes and appeasing her occasionally. Jayla still wears formal dresses, enjoying wearing vintage-type two-piece dresses with floral or plain-coloured skirts. Jayla likes wearing simpler clothes, similar to Muggle clothes. As a fourth-year student at Hogwarts, she wears the school uniform neatly in class, though she wears grey knee-high socks instead of white socks like the other girls. She untucks her shirt from her skirt, loosens her tie when she's at lunch, and convinces Hermione to loosen up a little.
PERSONALITY AND TRAITS
Jayla has an incredible brain, thanks to her photographic memory, allowing her to recall things she's read and seen, though she struggles with remembering things that she's heard. Though it may take time, she's stubborn enough to try. Jayla is cocky, having become comfortable with her surrounding, though sometimes comes across as too cocky when on the Quidditch Pitch, using her high intellect for sly and sneak planning when playing Quidditch and helping Mason and the Weasley twins with their pranks.
Jayla can be highly stubborn at the best of times, having shown this when she didn't back down when facing Voldemort and Professor Quirrell in the Philosopher Stone Chamber in her first year, showing why Jayla was placed into Gryffindor, especially in her second year when she helped Harry fight against the Basilisk and told Voldemort how wrong he is to his face. In Jayla's third year, her bravery got the better of her when she faced off against hundreds of Dementors with Harry and produced a corporal Patronus.
Jayla was seen as a calm and collected person by her peers over the previous few years as she was getting comfortable in Hogwarts, almost disguising herself. Jayla has long talks with Oliver over Quidditch and has shown her strategic and sly thinking as they plan for the season. It sometimes worries Harry, especially after she joined the team the year before, showing bold moves against their opponents. However, he was thankful when Jayla's sly and strategic mind came up with an amazing plan to free Sirius when they went back in time to save Buckbeak and Sirius.
Last summer, Jayla and her family spent time with Amos and his son, Cedric; the two teenagers had grown to care about each other. Cedric admired how kind and caring Jayla could be with her family and towards him and loved sneaking kisses, but they broke up near the end of her Third Year. Jayla seemed to have become brutally honest with people, especially with Harry. However, she doesn't tell him of her crush on him and can't seem to help her curiosity anymore, finding herself sneaking around the castle after dark most nights. Jayla is trying to embrace her fear and fascination with fire and almost sets the sofa in the Common Room on fire.
MAGICAL ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Defence Against the Dark Arts: Jayla comes from a family that studies the Dark Arts to help those in need, though the girl only knows the basics and loves to read books on the subject, wishing one day to become the next professor. She loves the class, though she felt the last professor made it even more interesting after almost losing interest and spent most of her time in the library reading books on Magical Creatures in her Second Year. She's unsure how she feels about the new Professor as she misses her extra lessons with Lupin on Sunday because, apparently, her new professor doesn't have the time, but she owls with Lupin, who gives her books to read to keep her interest up. Remus and Jayla spent some of the summer studying as he spent part of the holiday over at the Darkmore Manor.
Flying: Jayla is a gifted flyer; having learned along with her siblings since they could walk, Jayla planned to next year, join the Quidditch team as a Chaser in her second year. Her wish came true as she's the replaced a Chaser for the season and loves winning, showing her competitive side. Jayla helps Oliver with strategy and trains with the other chasers, showing them moves from her favourite Quidditch Team, the Holyhead Harpies. Jayla still gets some Pitch time last year, as the other Chasers don't mind switching out with her. Though she doesn't play this year because of the Tri-Wizard Tournament
Zoolingualism: Jayla has the special and unique ability to talk to animals and understand what they are saying; this ability is unique to her as she inherited it from the Malfoy line, and it only shows in females. She's become a quick study and learning to distinguish what animal is talking within a crowd; she can tell apart snakes, owls and cats.
Charms: Jayla enjoys this class the most as she knows the basics from reading and finds the jinxes and charms she learns useful. She took extra lessons from her mother over the summers to understand jinxes, though she promised not to use them on anyone at school. Jayla has shown that she can cast powerful spells and struggles a little with control, and she has taken lessons with Professor Flitwick over the weekend for private lessons since last year.
Potions: Due to her photographic memory, she remembers everything she's ever read, and Jayla enjoys making the potions that the Heiress has read about. Snape is giving her extra lessons after seeing her skills over the last three years and is surprised at how well she picks up the methods and even gives her advanced potions to try out when they have their extra classes. Jayla has a standing order to make Wolfsbane Potion for Lupin in exchange for him homeschooling Yazmin.
Transfiguration: Jayla finds the classes fascinating, and she plans to become an Animagus when she turns 16. McGonagall has commented on her interests and how she has excellent grades across the board and gives her new books to read that she knows she will find interesting. Jayla asks McGonagall questions about becoming an Animagus, promising to be careful and wait till her birthday next year.
Herbology: Jayla doesn't like the dirt very much, but she does enjoy the class as she learns about all the new plants and even sneaks out some rose seeds for her garden at home. Jayla finds she doesn't have a green thumb but does like to learn the magical herbs and study what types of plants are suitable for healing. She has found a hobby of studying poisons because of her grandfather.
Care of Magical Creatures: Jayla loves learning about the new creatures and how to care for them, and even asks Hagrid if she can help care for them from time to time and even goes on visits to see Aragog and feed the Thesrals with Luna, though she can't see them and looks after Buckbeak with Sirius.
Study of Ancient Runes: Jayla found Ancient Runes completely easy at first because of her Photographic Memory. Professor Babbling has given her extra work during the lessons that are for high years, and she is now doing sixth-year work while in class.
Photographic Memory: Jayla can recall anything she has read, even from years ago; though she may be able to remember what Jayla has heard slightly, she struggles if it has been some time.
Quick Reader: Jayla can read 12,00 words per minute, and it spooks some of the other students from time to time as she reads in the common room or the library.
Singing: Having spent time in America over the summer last year, Jayla is interested in music and taking singing lessons, though she only sings in front of her family, who say it's like an angel and joined the Music Club last year.
Dancing: Jayla, over the summer, takes dancing lessons with her brother for the upcoming Yule Ball, though they have learned how to dance since they were young for social events.
Puzzle Solving: Jayla's grandparents gave her a puzzle cube for her 13th birthday that she solved quickly, and they gave her a new puzzle to solve each month.
