It was not going on anymore, they were sitting around talking about politics. I was in and out of the castle, taking the chair with me. Baal had his feet propped up on the table, his eyes narrowed on me. I grinned as I moved to stand next to grandpa.
"The spitting princess is back."
Henri walked up to Baal. "Sabnock Baal, you are under arrest for the kidnapping and illegal experimentation on the great grandchild of Sullivan and son of Violetta."
Narnia stood walking around the table. "I am not one to question, but what happened?"
"Eli was not Eli. I saw it with my own eyes. Wait until you lay eyes on what I detained."
"You trespassed on my land?" Baal dropped his feet.
"With reasonable suspicion, as noted here. Strange activity in and out of the castle grounds."
I watched his eye grow black, as he exhaled hard. He had changed to origins too. "Baal, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. You will stay still, and you will go with border patrol."
He gritted his teeth, clutching his fists. "I will fight these charges."
"No, you won't. You will tell them everything you did, truthfully."
"It was my plan, I had Eli kidnapped." He covered his mouth. "I preformed experiments on his blood." He covered his mouth again. Narnia cuffed him, his eyes on me as he did so.
Henri pulled out his phone and gave me his number, linking our phones. "We ask you to come by tomorrow to for a statement. We will also want to talk with Eli if he is willing."
I pressed my lips, biting on the lower one. "There is another little boy at my house currently. He was manipulated into all of this, but I am sure he will talk. Be kind to him, he is a victim too."
He nodded. "You mind me asking what rank you are?"
"Vav, but that's just a number to me."
His eyes narrowed, face frowning. "Is Babyls not giving out appropriate ranks? You should be Chet at a minimum."
"I was Zayin, but lost rank because of the carnival incident."
"You lost rank for that? Seems harsh."
I shrugged. "Was but a scratch to the ego. I know myself beyond the rank placed on myself. I will have Opera send me the pictures and then forward them to you. You're not so bad when you're not being a grouchy old man."
His eyes narrowed. "I will let that one slide; you should consider joining us. We could use your talents and we could help you achieve your goals you stated earlier."
Grandpa put his arm in front of me. "She will not. She will be going home and going back to school. She has not officially graduated yet."
"The future then."
"Never." He put a hand on my shoulder and took us home. "Where is he? Eli, where is Eli?"
"I left him with Opera, grandpa, are you alright?"
"No."
"Shh, Grandpa. All has been resolved, I fixed it."
"I was to protect you, and all you found joy in. I failed him."
Eyes furrowing, I hugged him. "It's okay, but failed who?"
He wrapped his arms around me. "I can't stay mad when you hug me like this."
"Good, I like the happy you. I find joy in that."
He picked me up, twirling me around. "You find me joyful?" He was practically singing. I imagined flowers and confetti dropping around him in his own little world of sunshine.
"Yes."
He set me down. "I still failed you, and you choose Henri over me. Why didn't you pick your dear old gramps to go with you."
I looked down. "I needed an unbiased pair of eyes. You would automatically side with me. Narnia might do the same. I did not know the others, but one. Henri is the number one in border control, so it made him the obvious choice."
"You are so smart and calculated, now where is my great grandson."
I summoned Yodh. "Eli?"
"He is eating."
"Good boy, the bestest boy!" I baby talked. His ears perked, his tail wagging. I scratched each head separately and rubbed his belly.
His leg kicked. "I'm the bestest boy! That's me, yes!"
I followed Yodh to the dining room. Eli was sitting at the dining table, poking around at his food. Blushenko looked up first as Kalego and Opera were sitting around him, practically breathing on him. "Your crowding him, that's my job to hoover."
Eli's head jerked up, and he turned. "Mom." He whimpered. I picked him up, and the crocodile tears poured. The marks on his arms and neck were gone, his plate not touched.
"Everything is over, I promise you that nothing will ever happen to you again. Thank you, Blushenko, for healing him."
"It was nothing, Kalego was the one who called me. I am heading back to the teachers' dorms."
"As am I." Kalego added, and they left.
I cradled Eli, his hands tightly grabbing onto my cloths. "Don't leave again, don't leave me."
"I won't, from now on you will be right by my side." I sat in his chair with him in my lap. "You should eat something, gain your strength back." I picked up the fork. "This looks so good; Opera makes the best food. Don't you agree?" He nodded. "Then we must thank him by eating some."
Sitting him to the side I fed him a few bits, then he took the fork for himself and finished his plate. He laid back on me, his eyes growing heavy. I cradled him like a baby, and his head turned in. He zonked out, snoring lightly.
"His room is ready; the child was removed from the premise."
"Not tonight, he will sleep with me tonight. He does not want to be alone, if he wakes up alone it may cause unnecessary anxiety to him."
I carried him to my room, laying him in my bed. I wiggled in and he rolled over, nesting up against my side. I rushed and made mistakes. Not only before this, but as I descended the steps. I would need to be more calculated and stop letting my emotions ruin me.
Eli was my weakness, making the most mistakes when it involved him. Summoning Yodh, impaling my foot, bringing the wrong child home, just to start. Kidnapping Henri, following blindly, rushing down the stairs and getting caught.
I was Lucky Henri was not severely injured. Their eyes resembled mine, not as dark as I had seen mine become, but others out there like me, scared me. I had no issue controlling them, and we detained them, but how did they do that?
Not even the ones infected with the crystals looked like that. I hoped Narnia or even Henri might tell me what happened, that Baal would squeal like a pig and tell them. I almost wanted to see how he would be punished for this.
The next morning, I talked with Eli, and he was willing to go to border patrol headquarters to tell them what happened. Grandpa had his fingers folded over his face, staring out over the table. He had yet to touch his food, but he sipped on his tea.
"I am going with you."
"That would leave Iruma here alone with only Opera."
"I will be fine; besides I'm going over to Azzazz's house today with Clara."
Grandpa smiled brightly. "And I hope my most precious grandson has a wonderful time. Make sure to have lots of fun."
Iruma scooted his chair out, the loud noise made Eli flinch in my arms. I gave him a tighter hug, shielding all noise from him. I could kill him for what he did. He feared little noises and being further than a few feet from me. My arms were the only place he acted at ease and would eat.
Grandpa took us to the border patrol gates. I walked ahead of him, opening the door with a wave of my hand. Narnia was leaning against the front counter, a grin on his face.
"This way, Vi. We have special rooms for children."
"What do they contain?"
"Nothing you might be thinking. I know how low you think of me and this place."
"I wasn't thinking a thing, you make to may assumptions."
The room they had was little over half lit but filled with color and toys all around the room. A small table in the middle of the room with three small child sized chairs. I set Eli down, but cling to my leg climbing up.
I hugged him as he shook. "Don't leave me, please. I need you."
Tears filled my eyes. "I wasn't, I thought you might want to see the room first." He shook his head.
Narnia typed on his phone. "I will be right back, you two can stay here."
"Something wrong?"
He turned. "Your grandfather."
I sat in one of the little seats with Eli, it was a low riding seat for children. I felt one slip from bonking Eli's head. "Hey, bug. You want to color with me?" He moved from my lap to the chair, he looked at the door, the window.
"Their watching us."
"Who?"
"The man with the red hair, the one with purple hair, and grandpa. Behind the window. I can see them."
I peeked; the window mirror reflected the room. I whispered. "How?"
He pulled his under eyelids down. "I have eyes."
I chuckled. "Well, that's a cool ability."
He shrugged, pulling one of the coloring books closer from the table. He flipped through the colored pages of devi-dolls, finding a blank page.
"Why did it take you so long to find me?"
My heart. "They hid you well. I came for you as soon as I could."
"They told me you forgot."
"I never forgot, everyone else had. I had to do most of the investigating on my own."
"Why?"
"It's just how it happened. Can you tell me what happen to you?"
"Baal took me. What did you do to make him mad?"
I pressed my lips. "I…"
"You killed someone; it made them all mad."
Good grief, we're we here for him or me. "Yes, but they were a threat on Babyls school."
"At first that was what it was all about. Then they said you had special blood, but they needed more. So, they took mine, they kept taking more and more." He grabbed his arms. "It hurt."
"How long ago?"
"I don't know, a week, maybe two. I was in the dark."
"Did they give you meals regularly?"
"Sometimes."
My blood, which made since now. Their eyes was the effect of being exposed to my blood. My origin like eyes, the dark blood. It was different and did things to other demons like change their blood too.
"And they thought that because your my son, that you would also carry this blood."
"The said you would be able to bring origins back. That the sickness caused by humans would end."
"That's a lovely drawing."
"Are they right?"
"There's a lot of things that even I don't understand."
Eli watched the transparent window, and his eyes traced along the wall and to the door. Narnia opened the door and sat at the table on one of the tiny chairs.
"Pfft." I covered my mouth.
"What?" He asked.
"Nothing." I waved my hand down.
"Vi."
A little giggle escaped my lips. "Your far too big to be in that chair, it looks funny."
Eli smiled, looking at him he laughed. "He looks like Kalego, but bigger."
"Good eye, you are perceptive just like your mother. We are brothers." He laid out pictures. Do you recognize any of these people?
He pointed out Baal first, then others. "Some of them look different. These two are the same person. He talked to Baal the most, but in whispers so I could not hear anything." He pointed to Wett and another Demon I had seen before at the carnival. He had tailed us in the distance. I did not see a single one of them on my excursion.
"You mind if I talk to your mother for a little bit outside this room."
Eli grabbed my arm. "Don't go. If you do, they will try to take me again. They said they would always come looking."
"Eli, Baal is in jail, along with a few others from the castle." He puffed up his bottom lip and gave me puppy dog eyes. "No, it's too cute. How about over there." I pointed to the wall.
"To far."
"Elijah, I know it was scary, but I'm not leaving the room."
He looked down. "Okay." His arm dropped.
I left him at the table, Narnia following. I put up a shield. "Talk freely, no one can hear."
"He made a comment on your blood. You did not seem surprised."
I poked my finger, a drop bubbled up and then it healed. "It's dark, and If they needed more, then…"
"They planned to make an army of Origin demons. How did they get your blood in the first place?"
I rubbed my chin. Blood in the cave, I was impaled twice. "It wasn't much, but on the way to your castle I was impaled in the wing. It gushed blood and we left the spear behind."
"Off topic, but how long did it take to heal?"
"Like a minute or two after it was taken out. No scare left behind. I was in more pain from my dislocated wing, and when you broke my wrist. Feeling bones move is gross and painful."
He smirked. "Anyways, if four of them were made…"
"Then you might only need a drop of blood. Narnia, that's a potential of a few dozen if they salvaged enough. We don't even know if its transmittable from one to another. That could turn to hundreds fast."
He pinched his nose, an action that reminded me of Kalego when the misfit class would get rowdy. "We are about to become very busy." He put a hand on my shoulder. "Please, reconsider. I understand the position you're in, but we need you now more than ever to fix this."
"I… Grandpa… He."
"I know, but your also an adult."
"School…"
He sighed. "How far off are you from finishing?"
"Three years, fourth year through sixth."
He tilted his head. "You learn fast for just coming here." He eyes glanced to the top of my head. "The crown you wear, it has two more gems. I thought I did not come off."
"It does not. It grows on its own. I started with one tiny gem."
"Crown of deities, have you heard of it?" I shook my head. "I do not know much about it as it has never been seen, but there is a prophecy passed around to only the crowns. It goes like this:
She will hear and see the sounds of all hearts and nature. She will make evil her servants and bring peace or destruction with them. She will come from another realm but be one of us and wear the crown of deities."
"Oddly specific, you're not messing with me, are you?"
"It is like the demon king prophecy, but it mentions a female not a male. Deities wear black diamonds, and it looks like you have nine."
This man has lost it, lying or he truly believes I am this person. "We should go if we are done."
"Not yet. How did Sullivan react to the crown."
"He said it was perfect for me, he called me a princess."
"Let's keep this between us. Tell no one I told you this prophecy, it is a touchy topic, because it was the last words Derkila left us with to never share."
I knew grandpa used to serve him, and he was dedicated to him. If he knew, then he would really try to give me a good life so I would bring peace to the demon world. Might explain why I could do whatever I wanted, and he was okay with it. Make this one happy and she will do as we want.
It was a real sting to how I perceived those around me. Henri would know this prophecy, so when he saw. Narnia knew after. Grandpa knew, but at what point? I came into this world, and I was one of them. The violin, I created images. I saw the sound; I can hear everything.
He sent me to school, and then I gained the crown. Cerberus was renamed Yodh. Grandpa was so upset when I lost my hearing. The most important part was the fact I could control evil. That seemed to be the part that struck the fear. If I existed, they would not want me around. I could turn on them and be destructive.
I was to powerful now; it would be hard to get rid of me. Grandpa protected me, he wanted to be there for me. He was guiding me, right? What side was he on? Had to be the one for peace. Why not tell me sooner? Was he fearful of even me? Was I the monster he was grooming for this society to thrive. Was that all I am to him?
"Vi?"
"Are you afraid of me?"
"Why would I fear you?"
"The thing you told me, I'm basically a monster. A threat. I scare myself; I am changing every day, and It's happening so fast."
He held my shoulders, eyes furrowed. "You are not a monster; I have seen monsters and you do not come close."
I moved from his hands. "No."
"Remember what you told Henri, you wanted to bring peace with your abilities. It was a 'or' statement. This whole job is centered around maintaining the little bit of peace we have left. Let us help you, and you, us. Because we want the same thing."
Narnia looked up, and backed away, Grandpa was looming over the barrier. He tapped on the barrier, and it popped. "What are you doing, because this does not look like you are taking a statement."
"All of this centers around me, we were coming up with assumptions that could be reality." I hugged him. "You love me, right?"
He smiled, putting his arms around me. "Of course, I love you." Bright pink, with straight lines. "I want to know why Narnia is making you cry." Red staggers flicked themselves at Narnia.
"Pink, your words. You mean it?"
I felt Eli hugging my leg. "I love you too." Pink and yellow lines. I was fine, I had them. I knew Eli loved me; it was confirmation I needed to see.
"We can be done here; you have some things to work through. Keep in touch."
