"She's so small, how young do you think she is?" Anna asked.
"Well, I was like a hundred when I was at that stage."
Anna walked into a large single bathroom. "Hmm. I was twenty at this stage. It is only a stage Princess. We will get through this together." She unwrapped the blanket, helping me out of the oversized dress.
"My power no work." They slipped the new frilly light pink dress over my head.
They looked at each other, Shura looked around me. "You had had the whole room shaking, everyone but Narnia seemed affected by your screaming. I do not believe it is gone, just not as under control." She cupped my face. "These cheeks, I did not know it was possible to be this cute." He smooshed my face around.
I moved her hands away. "Top dat."
They grinned at each other. "Top dat." They spoke together, giggling with little squeals. I looked down as Shura tied up the dress in the back.
Anna summoned socks and shoes. Bows and ribbons. "I always wanted a little girl, so I am sorry if this feels over the top to what you are accustomed too." She braided my hair, tying it back in a bow. "You want to see?"
Anna held me up to the mirror. Big purple eyes stared back. Rosey chubby little cheeks, rounded face. I looked three at most. I tuned from the mirror. "Ugie."
"No, cute, precious and the most adorable. It is not forever, use this to your advantage and make them run a little for you. You had Narnia singing, that was the sweetest, cutest thing I have ever seen." She squeezed me tight.
"No air." I tapped her.
"Sorry." She cupped my face. "You are so cute I would do anything for you."
"I wanna go home."
"I cannot take you; I am sure they started arguing again the moment we left. We can go back; I am sure your grandfather will take you home."
Anna carried me back to the room; I wiggled in her arms. "Down, I can wahk. Wah-l-k." I huffed.
"It's okay, you regressed. You will talk and act differently; the spell that was used was old and forbidden. Most do not know its existence because of how old it is. That is one of the dangers of spoken magic." She put me on the ground, holding my hand as Shura waved the door open.
The room stopped dead in their conversation. Every head turned, all eyes falling to me. To many eyes, I hid behind Anna. Of all the curses she gave me one to be a child. What a mean old lady, old hag.
She leaned down, scooting me out. "Are you still hungry, I still see plenty of food on the table."
"Yucky food."
She chuckled. "Not all of it, come on." I took five steps before I tripped over my feet. Anna scooped me up. "Carful, princess. Your not use to this size yet." She carried me around the table.
Narnia pulled the chair next to him out. "She sits here."
"After that little singing session, I can be okay with that." The chair had changed to be higher to the table.
Narnia rolled his eyes. "I know her best, that is all. Some forget I raised my brother from this very age up until he succeed our uncle." He pushed the chair in, and I braced my arms on the table.
"She's a child now, and not in control of her power anymore. It's evident it is still nestled deep, as we all fell to it."
"Yes, and Naberius Narnia was the only one who was not affected. Was that of choice, Violetta?"
"Nari."
"Yes, vi." I pointed to my wrist, than him. He lifted his sleeve; he was wearing the bracelet. "I a monser. Nari tops monsers. Gave Nari bawwer." I covered my face, so embarrassing. Stupid tongue, limited language.
Narnia moved my hands. "Not a monster, look around the table. Hairy wolf man, Shura is a made of plants. Horns and sharp teeth. Everyone in this room is considered the most powerful and influential demons. Including the old chooks ogling you like you're the new greatest thing."
I looked over to grandpa, he and the other Greats had there hand folding smiling at me.
"You fit in here better than you think." Anna reassured me.
"I sowwe."
Grandpa lowered his hands. "It is taking every fiber of my being to not pick you up and parade you around as the cutest grandchild in existence."
"Top, no." I covered my face again.
Someone cleared their throat. "I saw you give that to him, why did you not tell him it had magical properties?" I shrugged. "Would it work for anyone?"
I shook my head. "Jus Nari, I almos hur him one time. I was mad."
"I do not want to follow a child that could hurt someone at the drop of a wing, for no reason other than she was mad." I stared at the man with braids in his hair, I had reason.
Narnia moved into my vision, waving a chocolate chip cookie in front of my face. "You want a cookie." His eyebrows raised, that smile will not get me.
"No, I wanna..." My mouth watered, that cookie smelled good. "Gimme two." He held up another, and I took them both turning away.
"Her anger was warranted. We have since fixed that bridge. Vi, if you do not mind. I will share all you have uncovered."
He explained everything to them, some seemed surprised. The three greats nodded in agreement along with Shura and Anna. I think they were havening a hard time understanding that they all had human blood somewhere along the line in their lineage.
"As much as I hate to say it, Baal might have only been half wrong. They way he went about it was wrong. Leading me to believe he had other intentions. Bringing Origins back, on the other hand, was with good intentions. Her blood rids human blood, and all the illnesses that come with it."
"Yes, but the downfall is she would control all demons."
"This is true, but I believe she does not have intentions to be like Afyon. He was an extremist power-hungry demon. She refused to force us to change."
"That little power display, she had us all in her grip."
Narnia waved a hand down, and Anna spoke. "The regression spell alters one to be a child. What child do you know can control their power when highly upset or overwhelmed?"
The man sighed. "It is a lot to think about. Going this route would change the netherworld and the way we live."
"May I say somting?" The eyes shifted. "I do not wanna contwol evieone. Feedom is a ting."
They conversed longer over the future. What they could do, what they should do. It was split down the table on right and wrong. One bad demon and the next who can do what he can was also bad. They did not say it directly, but half of them were afraid of me.
My eyes grew heavy, a hand caressed my head, keeping it from hitting the table. "Are you tired?" Narnia asked.
"Yeah, I tierd."
"Oh, let me." Anna exclaimed.
"No." Narnia picked me up, holding me in his arms. "If something happens while she sleeps, I will be the only one to stop it." A blanket was wrapped around me, my eyes gave in, and I turned my head to him.
"Dose she?"
"She does, I am unsure if she is aware. I can feel her emotions when they are heightened. Right now, nothing, but I knew she was growing tired."
"How?"
"Cerberus is soul bond to her, and half my power hails from him. I am surprised he did not come; he usually does. That world beast is like mud in hand when it comes to her."
"Narnia, you don't have time to take care of her and do your job."
"Oh, then who? Sacrifices must be made somewhere."
Henri sighed. "We are busy within border patrol. Your attention is needed there, send her home with Lord Sullivan."
My face winced. "Pwease no fight."
Narnia rubbed my head, stroking my cheek. "You have nothing to worry about, we are merely discussing where you should go. Let's take these out, maybe that will help you sleep easier."
He placed a hand over my ear, and it got quite. I rolled my head and repeated. The silence had my drifting. I watched the colors pour from his mouth as he spoke. He was worried, others were too. Some were lying others being straight forward. I named the colors and counted the swirls to lines.
I woke up in bed, I must have passed out at some point. That was the weirdest dream I ever had in my life. I rolled out of bed and swung my legs out to stand up. My feet did not contact the floor, and I fell, face planting. Every emotion pouring out at once. I burst into tears, wailing.
The floor shook, I opened my eyes and Yodh liked my face. "It's okay, are you hurt anywhere?"
I looked at my hands, I was still small. It was not a dream. Stupid, old, hag lady. Yodh was rubbing all over me, I hugged around him. Opera came in my room, not bothered by the shaking nor surprised as furniture rattled.
"You alright."
I held my hands out. "Up."
His tail twitched, ears perked. "You want me to pick you up?"
"Opa."
His ears twitched, as he picked me up. "It's okay, Opa got you." He rubbed his face on mine.
"Hungie."
"Let's get you dressed first. Lord Sullivan had some new clothes arrive for you this morning. Let's pick something out."
He moved the choices down the hanging rack one by one, stopping on all the pink ones. "Dat one."
"The pink one?" I nodded. "No take backs." He set me down and helped me change. "You changed a lot, wearing pink willingly."
I was not about to tell him I chose that one so I could get food a little faster. My stomach was growling at this point. Opera found the biggest pink bow to put in my hair, then carried me to the kitchen.
There was one I had not asked about yet. "Eli?"
"He is bouncing around at school. You are not permitted to leave until you are more regulated in your emotions."
He gave me a plate of food, and I smelled everything before I took a bit. Not permitted to leave. They were going to force me to stay inside the house? I did not do a thing wrong.
"Supid."
He chuckled. "You cried and shook the house. Let's us get that under control and we can talk about going somewhere."
"No fair."
It was boring in the house, drawing was hard. Writing was hard, getting from one side of the hall to the other made my legs tired. I laid in the middle of the hallway. I was bored in the house and in the house bored.
I missed going to Border Patrol, and I missed Narnia. I missed missions, and just seeing others in general. Regulate my emotions because I was a monster. Video games were too big for my hands, my attention was not good enough for a book.
Opera was hovering over me like a mother would a delicate child. I was able to order things, getting a gem painting. Simple, because if I drew one more awful thing, I was going lose my mind. Eli talked to me, but he was treating me like a little sister, not his mom.
Leaving most days to go see Iruma, while I was here. He acted more like a kid than me. I did not have the heart to force him to stay with me. At this point I missed my days at Babyls, those were the good days.
I closed my eyes, thinking of Balam and his class. How I used to draw all the students' nerves faces as they took there tests. I never caught one cheating but Balam always knew. He would wrap them up and fail them for it.
My chair left me, and I fell backwards. "Life cycle is rather short."
"Wah ta hey." I mumbled, rubbing my butt as I stood.
A dozen voices whispered; my eyes widened as I looked up. Dozens of eyes were on me. I closed my eyes, home. The whispers did not stop. Home, please home. I was picked up off the ground, Balam held me out, head tilted. His hair was really long, surpassing his hips.
"I sowwy, I no mean. Asidan. No tell gampa, pwease, Bawim." I covered my face.
"Viola?" I nodded. "You're so tiny and cute." He hugged me. "How did this happen?"
"No say."
"Okay." He patted my head. He went back to the board. "As I was saying, life span is short, but it can be dangerous in those few months it lives." He held me the whole time he was teaching.
The bell rang and the students filed out like nothing had happened.
"Viola, I have not seen you in quite some time, I see you are much smaller. I knew a few others who would not mind seeing you if you are up to it."
"Caw Opa. I no be here."
His eyes were saddened. "A little longer? It is lunch." On cue, my stomach growled, and he chuckled. "Come on, I will feed you and then call Opera."
This was a terrible idea; Opera was hovering me. He had to know I was missing by now and was calling around trying to find me. My phone was left at home, still playing music. He carried me into the lunchroom where all the teachers ate.
Momonoki, and Kalego were sitting and talking. Balam sat right next to them, with a tray of food. I hid myself as best as I could to hide under his hair.
"What creature have you snuck into school this time?" Kalego asked, barely looking.
"She snuck in herself; it was not on purpose."
"How do you sneak in, but not on purpose?" He scowled, and Balam moved me into sight.
I could cry, I wanted to. My eyes watered, and I took a deep breath. Everything is fine, this is fine. "Hewwo." I buried my face, how embarrassing; I banged my head on his chest. Home, teleport home.
"She's so cute, can I hold her."
"Yes."
"No. pwease. No ah-gin."
Balam pet my head. "We've missed you, heard all you have been doing. Too bad you won't tell me how this happened."
"Shichiro, take her home. You know I can't be around her."
"Your brother never filed the paperwork. It was by mouth only."
"Yes, I am not looking to be scolded like a child again."
"No fight, Pwease." The seal was cracked, and tears fell. Deep breath, everything is fine, but they were fighting.
"Opera, I do not know if you know, but we have an unexpected guest… Teachers' lounge… I see… See you soon. Shichiro, nothing strange happened?"
"No, she teleported to my classroom."
"Viola, would you like a cookie?" Kalego waved a cookie in front of my face.
My mouth watered. "Gimmie." I took the cookie. "Tank you."
"Why did you teleport into Shichiro's classroom."
"I no mean it. I was tinking bou it. poof. I here." I held a handout. "May I have more."
He gave me fruit; I pushed it away. "Viola, fruit is sweet too."
My eyes turned in. "Cookie. I wanna cookie. Nari give cookie."
"There are no more on the table."
"Summon one or I scem."
He scowled. "Don't, here." He summoned a cookie, handing it to me.
I giggled, taking a bite. "Tink you. You da bes, Kal." I kicked my feet as I finished the cookie. My head was heavy, I closed my eyes. "I tierd." I leaned on Balam.
"No falling asleep until Opera picks you up and takes you home."
"Kalego, I do not see the harm." Momonoki was leaning on the table ogling me with heart filled eyes.
"Opera gave direct instructions." He leaned my head up. "Wait a little longer, any minute he should be here."
Why was I not allowed to sleep here? I was always told to wait until I was in my room. Did something happen when I sleep? Did I turn to a monster, and they must lock me up to not hurt someone? I held my head, shaking it.
"Monser." I breathed out hard. My lungs felt like they were crushing in, I couldn't breathe. My heart raced faster than a hundred horses galloping. "Monser."
"Kalego, you alright?"
"I am fine. Viola, everything is fine."
I looked at him, he had a hand over his heart. I was hurting him; I really was a monster. A monster, I turned into a monster. It keeps getting stronger. I rocked back and forth, squeezing my eyes shut. "Monser, monser. I a monser." I was yanked forward, held under my arms, feet dangling.
"Vi, look at me."
I covered my face shaking my head. "Monser."
"Where, I don't see one." I peeked through on eye, Narnia. I pointed to me. He hugged me close, rubbing my back, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Vi, honey. You are not a monster." I sniffled and cried softly.
"I hurt Kal. Monsers hur peepo."
He bounced a little swaying. "Kalego, are you hurt."
"No, I am fine."
"See, you did not hurt anyone." He sniffed around my ear. "What is that?"
"Wha? I smell bad?" I leaned back, smelling myself.
"Are you using a new soap or perfume."
"Uh, I no know."
"Smells like flowers."
I huffed. "Nari, is roses." I poked his nose. "Mus be boken." I wiped my face.
He chuckled. "Did you know that roses come in every color of the rainbow. Red, yellow, blue, orange, pink purple and even green?"
"Geen ones?"
He grinned. "Oh, yes. Green roses that have purple stems and red thorns. I beautiful flower, just like you."
I giggled, cupping my cheeks and shaking my head. "Top dat."
"Why? It's true."
I blinked slowly and laid on his chest. "I tierd."
A blanket was wrapped around me, covering my face. He cupped my head. "You can sleep now. Let's go home. Kalego, I will call you later. I am sure you have questions."
"Opa coming."
"He is already here, but I was faster."
"You fasser dan Opa, das fass."
He chuckled in his throat, as he uncovered my head. We were back in my room. Opera was looking at us, ears down. "Why did you come?" Narnia sat down on the bed and placed his hands over my ears. The world went quite, he covered my head so I could not see.
He got up and sat back down. Leaning back, he uncovered my face a little. "I miss you, boarder patrol in not the same with out you." I spoke. Tendrils of blue flowed down as he spoke. Why was he sad? His arms wrapped around me, as he laid his head on mine.
