The Lost Track of Doom
Hi everyone, I'm back and settled, now we can continue the journey! I hope you all are doing well. I can't believe this story has over 1.000 views so far! I'm so happy you all are liking it!
Bold is for dragon talking and bold italics is for thoughts
Let's ride!
I do not own Dragon Booster, only my oc's.
The Penn Racing crew were all gathered around a fire down below in the dragon temple one night, listening as Mortis told a story with their dragons behind them. Iris was settled against Prisma's side as the hybrid lay on her side, tail swishing contently while the humans were roasting marshmallows by the fire.
After the kidnapping incident with Don the other night, Iris, Artha, Beau and Prisma all returned to the stables and went down to the temple to speak to Mortis about the black and purple streaks that now adorned Iris' hair, framing her face while Prisma had a violet streak running down the centre of her nose.
Once he saw the streaks on the teen and dragon, Mortis explained that Iris and Prisma had achieved a soul bond, which happened if a dragon and their human had a deep and emotional respect and love for each other! He only knew of it happening to one other person in history, the original dragon booster. The bond allowed the bonded pair to speak to each other telepathically and sense when the other was in trouble. Iris looked at the streaks in her hair before she hugged her dragon around the neck, Prisma lowering her head to nuzzle her soul sister in return.
They told Parm, Kitt and Lance about the new bond between Iris and Prisma, at first, they were stunned by the streaks in the teen's hair and the hybrid's nose, but saw how cool they looked and accepted the looks easily.
"Do any of you know the legend of the lost track of doom?" Mortis asked the teens as he stood in front of them.
Parm looked a little creeped out. "Excuse me, did you just use the word…doom?"
"Legend has it that the dragon city marathon track you all will be racing on tomorrow was actually built over another ancient track. The lost track of Doom! The strange crew of orange dragons called The Prophet's would snatch away riders during the marathon, none were ever seen again. Some say they now serve their dragon masters."
Iris' eyebrows went up in surprise at the legend; that sounded scary, to be racing on a track one minute and snatched away the next! She knew that Prisma would fight tooth and nail to keep her safe and if what Mortis said was indeed true, they would need to watch their backs!
Parm however, chuckled at the notion. "Dragons controlling humans." He chuckled again, finding the whole thing a load of scales. "They don't really exist…do they?" As he questioned it, Cyrano leaned over and grabbed his marshmallow from his roasting stick and once Parm had finished speaking, he went to eat his warm treat, only to find an empty stick and he glared at his dragon for taking his fluffy white treat. Cyrano couldn't care less and grunted as he swallowed the treat.
Mortis chuckled at the display. "Ha, I said it was legend."
Artha wanted to get back to Mortis explaining about the race. "Can we talk about the dragon city marathon tomorrow and not your old ghost stories?"
Lance, seated beside Iris, giggled as he munched on his marshmallow.
"Yes, of course, let me tell you the key to the marathon race. It is like the key to you and your dragon, if you can not balance with each other, and with your teammates, you will fail."
"500 miles of major obstacles, dangerous speed traps, frightening vertical agility tests, and gruelling gear challenges." Parm began listing off just some of the tests and obstacles that they would face tomorrow.
"The team will have to be sharp." Kitt piped up from her spot on Iris' other side, Wyldfyr seated behind her.
"The team? Since when is your girlfriend part of our racing team?" Lance asked with a raised eyebrow. Iris gave her brother a glare. The youngest member of the group cringed as he saw the look his sister was giving him. "Watch what you say, Lance Penn." Iris warned him.
Arth looked a little flustered by his brother's words about Kitt being his girlfriend despite the fact neither of them saw each other anymore than friends. "Umm… we need her experience and Wyldfyr's speed for this race. She can help Iris out too."
Kitt smirked. "Yeah, try not to slow us down too much with that big green roadblock Cyrano."
"Huh?" Parm blinked, somewhat offended by Kitt's words about his dragon.
"I think you're even beginning to look alike too."
"We are/We are?" The two looked at each other before turning away as Parm crossed his arms. "No, we most certainly are not!"
Lance thought it was rather funny. "Parm's got a dragon head." He laughed and this caused everyone to laugh. Parm huffed. "Very funny."
"Remember you must work together tomorrow. The team's strength does not come from the individual, but when each becomes part of the one!" Mortis explained.
"Like Iris and Prisma?" Lance questioned.
"Yes, much like them as they have achieved a very close bond with each other and their love caused them to become soul bound. It can happen to riders and their dragons, those who truly love each other and will go to great lengths to protect each other from harm."
With those words, Mortis left the teens. "When each becomes part of the one." Lance repeated the last sentence, standing up and holding his roasted marshmallow.
Iris retreated her marshmallows from the fire and ate one, offering the other to Prisma. "Thank you, Iris."
The teen smiled and patted her soul sister's neck as the dragon purred.
Kitt looked over to Artha. "I'm not scared."
The black-haired teen smiled. "Me neither, well maybe a little."
Parm shuddered, scared after the story Mortis had told about the Prophet's. "A lot."
"Well, so long as you guys are there with me, we'll be okay." Iris said and Artha smiled at her. "You'll be great, Iris, you have us with you and Prisma."
The violet-haired teen was grateful to her brothers and new friends, she hoped this race would go well like the one she was in with Beau when Artha had to go to that secret meeting as dragon booster a few weeks ago.
Lance cast his shadow against the back wall, looking scary. "Track of Doooooommmm!" Iris rolled her eyes at her brother's antics.
Iris yawned into her hand the next day as she stood in one of the starting chutes for the race, the rest of her team were in chutes beside her. She hadn't gotten much sleep the night before, tossing and turning due to her nerves getting the better of her.
Artha glanced over at her. "Hey, you okay, Iris?" He asked, concern in his voice at how tired she looked. "Yeah, just didn't get much sleep last night due to my anxiety. I'll be okay." She assured her brother that she would be fine.
Beau too showed concern for his human sister and looked at Prisma. "Keep an eye on her today, Prisma."
The hybrid nodded. "I will, Beau."
Fans started cheering as the beeper above the track went green, the gates came down and the race began! Artha and Kitt were in the lead with Lance, Iris and Parm slightly behind them, but all the dragons were keeping up with each other.
Kitt glanced back at Parm. "Try not to fall too far behind!" She called.
"Try not to get too far ahead, you'll need me and Cyrano soon enough. There are obstacles on this track that only a Bull-class dragon can bash through." The tech geek countered back.
"Uh, hey guys… teamwork remember?" Artha reminded them to work together, not apart.
Lance chuckled. "When each becomes part of the one." He chuckled again as Iris came up beside him.
"Thank you, mini Mortis." Both Iris and Kitt spoke in unison, rolling their eyes.
The race continued on into the night, the crew were mostly doing well and sticking together. Parm rode up alongside Artha, with Iris on her brother's other side.
"According to my calculations, Artha, there is a more directly triangulated vector to the undercity leg of this track." He rode ahead and Kitt looked at Artha and Iris with a highly confused look on her face.
"His way of saying there's a shortcut, Kitt." Iris explained as Prisma ran alongside Beau.
"Ohhhh!?"
"Lead on parmesan." Artha said with a light joke at Parm's full name.
Parm pointed in a direction with his pointer finger. "This way, and it's not parmesan, that's the name of a cheese!"
Iris laughed as she followed the group through a long, winding tunnel till everyone was forced to a stop at a roadblock. "Nice call…Road to nowhere." Kitt sniped sarcastically.
Parm narrowed his eyes and activated green ramming gear on Cyrano, urging the bull-class into a charge. The pair smashed through the roadblock to show the rest of the tunnel further in.
Parm hmped. "After you!" He gestured for Kitt to go ahead.
Beau took up the lead with Lance, Kitt, Iris and Parm behind him. As Kitt looked around with unease, Parm smirked and leaned down to whisper to Cyrano, who grinned and then unleashed a loud roar, scaring the daylights out of Kitt, who screamed, Iris jumped in her saddle and yelped at the loud noise. Parm started laughing as he and his dragon walked past Kitt, who had her arms crossed and was looking at Parm with a look of annoyance on her face.
"Why I outta…" Kitt growled, but Prisma walked up beside her and Wyldfyr. "Don't worry, I have an idea to get them back, and I'll need their help, Iris." Prisma explained to her sister, who smiled and leaned over to speak with Kitt, who smirked.
The group were now out of the tunnel crossing a wire bridge over a misty long drop. "This is part of the track Mortis was talking about, built over the old track."
"The Lost Track Of Doom, Doom, Doom, Doom." Each word he said became quieter at the end and Iris rolled her eyes.
Kitt and Iris, both of whom were travelling at the back, stopped as Kitt spoke. "Shh, did you hear that?" She smirked at Parm as he looked around.
"I ah, don't hear anything." He felt a tap on his left shoulder and looked in that direction, but saw nothing, he felt another on his right and turned his head, coming face to face with two dragons who roared at him, causing him to scream in fear and nearly fall off his saddle.
Kitt and Iris laughed, high fiving each other as Prisma and Wyldfyr laughed at their accomplishment. "Oh gee, was that us?" Kitt asked sarcastically.
Artha, a little annoyed by the prank his sister and his crush had pulled on Parm, turned around to look at them. "Come on, guys, this race is serious!"
A sudden dragon roar was heard from somewhere up ahead and from out of the mist, they saw a dragon and rider racing towards them, only when the dragon stopped in front of them did they see it was Cain and Coershun.
"Cain, you look like you've just seen a ghost!" Artha noted how pale the second-in command of the dragon eye crew looked as he shook with fright.
Breathing hard, Cain shivered. "Go back, ambush, there's hundreds of them. Orange dragons, silent riders. RUUNNN!" He spurred his dragon into a run and they raced past the group.
Parm realised it could only be one thing. "The Prophet's."
Lance looked a little spooked. "Let's get out of here too!" Iris came up beside her brother and rested her hand on his shoulder comfortingly.
Artha looked back at his crew. "Guys, the Dragon Eyes are faking, they want us all to run away scared so they can win the race. Come on, it didn't work, did it?"
Para looked a little freaked out, but tried to show a brave face. "Ah, yeah, well it was very convincing."
Further down the track, a voice could be heard calling out for help. "HELP, someone help!"
"Come on!" Artha urged the group forwards and they all ran along the bridge and came to a halt in front of a broken section of the bridge, down below then, Moordryd hung by a piece of the broken bridge.
"Down here, help!"
Iris and Artha both stared at the white haired teen. What was he doing here and how did he end up down there? Questions swirled in the siblings heads, but they had no time to answer them right now.
"Moordryd Paynn!"
Moordryd looked up at the siblings. "Just hurry up, Penn! Some crazy orange dragons smashed the track, I can't hold on for long."
Iris faced the others. "Stay here, all of you." She dismounted Prisma and approached the broken track with Artha right beside her.
"Be careful, you two." Parm cautioned as the siblings knelt down and both extended their hands towards Moordryd. "Grab our hands, we'll bring you up." Artha called and Moordryd stretched out his hand to Artha, who reached out a bit more till he was able to grab Moordryd's hand. Iris reached for his other hand and he grasped hold tightly as the siblings pulled him up and back onto the bridge.
Moordryd scowled at them, Artha dusted his clothes off as Iris helped her brother to his feet. "You can, ah, you can thank us later." He spoke to the white haired teen's retreating form.
"Can we leave now?" Lance asked, sounding a bit frantic.
"Yes, we…" Iris was cut off by the bridge creaking and bending before it suddenly broke, sending all the teens and their dragons falling as they screamed in terror.
Moordryd stood at the edge and looked down with a grin, just how he wanted his plan to work. "How unfortunate, how terribly unfortunate." He laughed as he turned around and left the bridge.
A while later, the Penn crew and their dragons lay on the floor of an ancient temple. Iris was nudged by a worried Prisma.
"Iris, are you alright? Say something?" The hybrid growled as her sister opened her blue eyes, wincing at the pain blooming in her head from the, she still had her helmet on and that had saved her from serious injuries, she couldn't say the same for her ribs though, they hurt, but they were likely only mildly bruised.
"I'm okay, Prisma. I'm okay." She assured the hybrid she was alright, reaching out and patting the multi-coloured dragon's nose. The others groaned as they woke up and their dragons gained consciousness, everyone checking to make sure that everyone was okay after the fall.
Parm, once he'd regained his footing and now seated back in his saddle, gasped at the temple they had fallen into. "This is incredible! It predates any track I've ever seen. Look at the draconium architecture and the use of temple-like support structures. Ah, the track of doom!"
"Too bad you won't get out to tell about it!" An ominous voice spoke as many orange control-class dragons moved out of the shadows, their movements in perfect sync with each other, almost like robots with humans in the saddles with some type of orange gear strapped to their heads.
Parm yelped at seeing the dragons. "The legend…it's true!? Those are the orange dragons… The Prophet's."
Iris looked a bit spooked as she stood up from the ground and Prisma snarled at the slowly advancing dragons, magging her sister into the saddle and activating the foot locks on the petals so Iris was literally locked into her saddle.
"Prepare to meet your doom."
Artha did not like the look of this one bit! "No choice, boy, we need the dragon booster right now! RELEASE THE DRAGON!" He put his amulet into his gauntlet and the pair transformed into their booster forms.
A few Prophet's charged at Beau and he roared as Artha took out his jakk-stick and swung it at the dragons, the pair fighting off the few orange dragons. Two even came at Prisma and she snarled as Iris extended her own jakk-stick, using the bright flash to disorient the dragons, who stumbled back from the bright flash of light.
"Prophet's!" A large orange dragon with what looked like a pair of horns on its head stepped out of the shadows, clearly the alpha/leader of the dragons with a human in the saddle. "Stand down!"
The dragons bowed their heads to their leader as he stepped towards Beau, who growled. "The black and gold dragon of Legend."
"And the dragon booster." Artha added with narrowed eyes.
"The dragon snarled. "Silence, I am not speaking to you, human!"
"What?" Artha looked a bit shocked by the response. Iris frowned, the human was moving their mouth, but it sounded like the dragon was speaking through the human, like a vessel!
The dragon gave a sinister grin. "That's right, dragon booster, it is I, the dragon Propheci. I speak through this human, and it is this human who serves me. As shall you!"
Kitt looked a little creeped out by Propheci talking through the human on his saddle.
"The great Beau returned. Humans have against abused and controlled your kind, racing, battling. Humans should not control you, you can still choose." Propheci spoke as Beau snarled softly.
Prisma growled, tail swaying behind her in agitation. "What would you know?"
Propheci looked over at the hybrid and growled. He had never seen a hybrid dragon before and she looked rather pretty. He approached her, noting the human in her saddle. "What is your name, lovely dragon?"
Prisma hissed defensively. She was not some trophy for other dragons to claim. "I am not a prize to be won!"
Propheci chuckled, he liked her spirit. "Humans have abused you, I see it. They hurt you and still you claim a human to control you."
Iris sneered. "I don't control her. She is my sister, I am not a human that harms dragons. We work together!"
The alpha dragon roared at the teen. "Silence human! You know only greed and power!"
Iris flinched and Prisma screeched angrily, swiping at the orange dragon, who only smiled.
Beau got in front of Prisma and his sister, snarling. "Leave them alone! I care for Artha and we are a team!"
Propheci snorted. "Yes, of course you do. Just until it really matters, that's when humans always fail. Fail their dragons and each other."
"Not all humans, not us!" Artha said as Beau stepped up beside Prisma and nuzzled the hybrid gently, making sure she was alright as Artha rested a hand on his sister's shoulder.
The violet teen nodded to her brother to let him know she was okay for now.
"We, the Prophet's, shall be the judge of that, and the track of doom shall be your test."
The group all looked a bit apprehensive. "Test?" Artha questioned.
"Three thousand years ago, the Prophet's helped the original dragon booster to stop the dragon-human war. It seems humans never learned the lesson they thought, and have abused dragons again. This time we shall not be so…helpful! Take these fools to the track of doom!"
The group were herded to the entrance of the track of doom, glowing a red ominous colour with sharp teeth shaped rocks.
"Orange dragons, fellow Prophets, this is indeed a very special day, for the humans we test include none less than a new dragon booster." Beau snarled as he faced the dragons. "And a hybrid dragoness." Prisma hissed at the alpha dragon. "If this dragon booster proves unworthy, then indeed all humans are unworthy."
"Ah, no pressure, huh?"
The Prophet's riders began to ominously chant 'doom' repeatedly, scaring Parm a little.
"Let the test begin!" Propheci declared.
"I don't suppose we could put this off till next week, I've got another race." Artha tried to bargain with Propheci, but he was stubbornly set in his ways and unleashed a loud roar, causing cracks in all the pillars around them and the place to start collapsing around the group.
Iris yelped as she shielded her head from the falling rocks. "No choice! This way guys!" Artha called and everyone spurred their dragons into the entrance as the area crashed down, blocking them in some sort of large tunnel.
A loud rumble was heard and from behind the group rolled a massive boulder, heading straight for everyone! "RUN!" Parm screamed and the dragons raced down the tunnel, trying to outrun the boulder before it crushed them.
Artha, Lance, Kitt and Iris were doing well due to their dragons being fast runners, but Parm was falling behind due to Cyrano not being built for speed and more for bashing and crashing. The poor dragon was panting as he was struggling to keep up.
Iris glanced behind her and saw the tech geek falling behind them. "Parm's falling behind!" She shouted to her brothers and Kitt.
Parm yelped as his dragon fell more behind and the boulder was right on their tail.
"It's Cyrano, he can't keep up, you and Iris get Lance to safety. Hee-yah" Kitt pulled Wyldfyr back to run alongside Parm.
Parm was frantically typing on his saddle controller while rambling about his dragon's legs being too short, his draconium level dropping and no stride.
"No speed! Here!" She had her dragon mag her thruster gear onto the bull-class dragon.
"Your level five thruster gear? But that's 55 giga-dracs of torque! Even with Cryano's relative mass and speed, and draconium reserve, that gear is…" Parm was frantically rambling about the speed of the gear, but Kitt just pressed her button, activating the thruster gear and sending Cryano shooting forward like a rocket, flying past Artha, Iris and Lance with Parm screaming in the saddle.
"What the? Was that Parm?" Iris questioned, looking at her brother.
The group made it to the end of the track and entered a large doorway, Kitt bringing up the rear. The boulder smashed into the doorway, cracking it badly, but keeping it from going any further.
Kitt and her dragon turned around to face Parm and Cryano. "I don't think I've ever seen a bull-class dragon go so fast!" She said with a smirk on her face.
Parm, recovering from going very fast and whose voice was a bit raspy from screaming, spoke. "Yeah, and neither has Cryano."
The bull-class grunted. "That was wild!"
"But at least you and Parm aren't in danger of being crushed by that boulder." Beau grumbled to his friend.
Kitt looked around at the room they were in. "What kind of joke is this, a dead end?!"
Iris scanned the room, there wasn't really anywhere to go until she spotted a hole in the wall above them, letting in a small amount of light. "Up there." She called, pointing to the hole and drawing the others' attention.
Parm smiled. "I can see light, we can climb out!"
Arha studied the hole, it looked big enough for the teens, but not the dragons. "It looks way too small for our dragons, and I would never leave Beau! Ever!" He patted his dragon on the cheek.
"Thanks Artha, I will never leave you either." Beau grunted, smiling.
Lance stroked Fracshun's neck. "Me neither."
"Yeah!" Kitt declared, vowing to stay by her dragon's side.
"Yeah!" Parm was in total agreement.
"She's been alone before, I'm not leaving her again!" Iris declared, patting Prisma's neck, the hybrid purring happily.
Above them, out of sight, Propheci watched the group. He hissed. "They have refused to abandon their dragons, they have passed the second test!"
His eyes moved to Prisma. "I will have that hybrid as my own, whether she agrees or not!"
Back with the group, they came to a stop in front of a wall with a small shaft of light coming from it. Cryano sniffed at the wall and snorted. "Hey, I found something!"
"What is it?" Lance questioned Parm on what Cryano may have found.
"I don't know, but Cryano's on to something." Parm said as he looked at his dragon.
There was a very small wind coming in from the hole, which meant there must be a tunnel behind the wall, leading outside the temple.
"There's a small draft I can feel. Maybe there's a way…" Iris was cut off by Cryano smashing the wall to pieces, revealing that there was indeed a tunnel leading outside.
"A secret escape route." Artha smiled.
Lance pumped his fist into the air in celebration. "Way to go, Cryano!"
The group started to slowly walk down the tunnel. "Yeah, nice job professor." Kitt praised.
"Ha, those creepy orange dragons thought they could outsmart us." Lance said with a grin.
Artha smiled. "Not this team! I can't wait to tell Mortis."
"When each becomes…"
"Part of the one." Everyone finished Lance's sentence and laughed.
Iris sighed, it would be great to get the scales out of here, Propheci scared her and he seemed oddly interested in Prisma. But why? What did he want with her sister?
The hybrid noticed her sister being quiet. "Are you alright, Iris? What's wrong?" She spoke through their bond.
"Propheci seemed oddly interested in you, Prisma. Did he want you to be his mate or something?"
"I got that feeling from him, yes. I believe he is interested in me becoming his mate and joining him, but I never will!" Prisma said with a snarl. There was no way she was joining Propheci or being his mate. Besides, there was someone else she was slowly becoming attracted to.
As the group passed a corridor, a glow came from it and Lance looked in that direction, finding three bone marks hovering in a hole, one red, one blue and one green. Iris frowned, this had to be some kind of trick. They weren't in any temples with bone marks and one of the bone marks was the furox, but it had been lost according to Artha, so why was it here now?
Lance seemed totally fixated on them. "Drac! Look at that!"
Kitt stared at the red one, the shape reflected in her green eyes. "They're beautiful."
Artha wasn't swayed however, neither was Iris. "And they're very dangerous, they are bone marks!"
Lance too, had the blue one reflected in his eyes. "Can I touch one?"
"No, you may not, Lance Penn! Those are very dangerous artefacts, they have the spirit of ancient warrior dragons, they can affect your mind and pull you in!" Iris explained.
Parm, fully entranced, had dismounted his saddle and was approaching the green bone mark. "Parm no!" Beau magged Artha in front of the tech geek. "Can't you see they're pulling you in? They're taking you over!" He tried to get to his friend without resorting to physical fighting.
"But I want it!" Parm sounded a bit possessed by the bone mark.
Artha pressed his hands on Parm's shoulders. "Parm, STOP!"
That made the possessed teen angry. "You just want all the power for yourself! Out of my way!" He pushed Artha aside and kept moving towards the bone mark.
Artha tackled Parm to the ground to stop him from going any further. "Parm, snap out of it!" He shook his friend's shoulders and that seemed to bring Parm back to himself.
The tech geek rubbed his head. "What just happened?" He asked.
"The bone marks were pulling you in…" he noticed Lance moving past him. "Lance stop!"
"No Lance!" Iris was magged out of her saddle and sent flying to her brother, grabbing the back of his shirt and pulling him backwards just as razor sharp blades came flying out of the walls, inches from hitting her brother had she not gotten there in time.
She shook her brother's shoulders, kneeling down in front of him. "Lance, Lance!? Come on, little brother, wake up!"
"Wha…huh? What happened?" Lance was snapped out of the trance by his sister. She sighed and pulled him into a hug. "Thank the magma draconis you're okay."
Her brother returned the hug, the two siblings holding each other firmly before they let go.
"Let's mag them all back to their saddles together." Beau suggested.
"Great idea!" Fracshun crooned.
"Couldn't have said it better myself." Prisma growled and all three dragons magged their riders back into their saddles.
Artha looked around. "Let's get out of here, there may be more traps." A door in front of them closed, but another opened up and they all ran through. They ended up returning back at the entrance of the track.
"We're back here?!" Kitt frowned, had they done a whole loop?
Propheci appeared in front of them with his fellow dragons behind him. "And here is where you shall remain for you have failed the Track of Doom. How sad you almost made it out, but you failed where humans always do, in selfish greed; for power."
Artha shook his head. "No, the bone marks tried to overpower us, but it was they that failed. We were sent to leave without them!"
Propheci snarled. "Lies, two of you humans were bent on stealing them." Parm and Lance had looks of guilt. "One almost did."
Lane looked down in shame, he felt this was his fault,if he hadn't tried to touch the bone mark, they would be out of the temple by now. Iris leaned over and rested a hand on his shoulder in comfort. She glared at the orange alpha dragon.
"He's only ten! The bone mark was possessing him without his consent. None of this is his fault!" She said defiantly in defence of her younger brother.
Propheci approached Beau. "Last chance, Beau. Join us or perish!"
Beau snarled, roaring. "I will never join you!"
"He's with me, and I'm with him, we are a team!" Artha declared proudly.
Propheci just gave them a look of anger. "Then so be it. Take them to the pit!" He ordered. Some of his prophet's started to herd the group towards the pit, leaving Iris and Prisma.
The orange alpha dragon then looked to Prisma. "Young dragoness, will you join me and become my mate?"
Iris's eyebrows rose up in surprise. She didn't think Propheci would ask such a bold question. The hybrid snarled. "I will never join you or be your mate. I care deeply for someone else! Iris is not just my rider, she is my soul sister!"
She referred to the violet streak down her nose and the black and purple streaks in Iris' hair. Propheci looked at the pair, he'd never heard of a soul bond before.
He snarled. "Lies! Prophet's, seize them!" Four dragons surrounded the two. Iris yelped as she was lifted into the air by an orange mag-stream as Propheci cornered Prisma.
"I will let your precious human go, if you join me."
The hybrid screeched in rage. "Are you not listening? I said NO!"
"Prisma is not some trophey, she's a living dragon who has a family who loves her!" Iris called as the orange dragon held her in the air.
The small group arrived in a dungeon with cages and Iris was tossed into one while Prisma was backed into another. The doors were shut on them, locking them inside.
"Perhaps keeping you in here shall change your mind, my beautiful Prisma." Propheci said before he and his fellow dragons left the room.
Iris growled, slamming her fist against the cage door before she fell to her knees, defeated.
Back with the others, they were led to a pit, a massive hole-like area with two large doors at each side and lava down below them. All of them were worried about Iris and Prisma, hoping that they were alright.
Propheci stood on a ledge above the with some of his dragons around the edge of the pit. "Humans and unworthy dragons, prepare to meet your doom!"
The four teens slowly turned their heads as one of the large doors opened up, releasing a massive Prophet, twice the size of ther dragons. It gave a massive, bellowing roar at the group.
Artha looked at his friends. "We can do this guys, teamwork remember?"
"Destroy the dragon booster!" Propheci declared.
The massive Prophet charged at the group and they split up, Artha and Kitt going one way and Lance and Parm going the other. Beau made a sharp turn and ran at the massive dragon, slamming his body into its ankle, the dragon screeched in pain and fell to the ground as Beau rejoined the others.
"That should slow him down a bit."
But that hit only made the dragon more furious and he roared loudly in rage as he faced the group.
"Or make him angrier." Parm said with a slight whimper of fright.
The dragon snarled and began to glow. "He's gonna mag-blast, get ready guys!" The dragon sent the blast at them. "NOW!" The others all moved out of the way, but Lance and Fracshun were frozen in place till Artha grabbed Lance's arm and yanked him off his saddle and out of danger. The blast blew a large hole in the second door, missing Fracshun, who raced over to the others.
Artha saw the exit. "Looks like we found an exit."
Thumping footsteps were heard from within before a second massive dragon crashed through the remains of the door. Now there were two of them and they looked mad!
"Ah, or maybe not." Parm said once he saw the second dragon.
"Destroy the dragon booster!" Propheci ordered once again.
Artha had Beau charge at the two dragons. "Artha!" Lance called, worried for his brother. It was bad enough that Iris and Prisma were somewhere else in the temple and he didn't know where they were, he just wanted them to be safe.
Beau skidded to a stop in front of the two large dragons. "Hey!" He called, gaining their attention.
Propheci looked almost pleased. "You don't have. Chance, the odds are overwhelming!"
Beau glowed brightly and sent a massive mag-blast that sent both of the huge dragons out of the pit and away from the group. Artha stood up in his saddle proudly.
"I don't know, looks more like a tossup to me!"
Propheci snarled angrily, this wasn't how he wanted his plan to go. "All dragons, attack!" He ordered and all of the dragons that stood around the edge of the pit glowed and started sending mag-blasts at the group.
The group stood together, dodging some of the blasts. "Guys, that way, the exit! I'll draw their fire!" Artha ordered his friends to leave while he remained. "Find Iris and Prisma, get them out of here!"
Kitt promptly disagreed with that. "No, we're a team! We'll find Iris and Prisma together!"
"We're not leaving you. Iris would skin us if we did!" Parm added with determination. He had been on the receiving end of Iris temper and he had no desire to experience that again!
Beau roared as he ran through the blasts and started running up along the wall of the pit. "When each become part of the one, release the dragon. Release…the…dragon!" Beau's star mark glowed brightly and both dragon and human merged into one.
Propheci had a look of disbelief on his face. "Not possible! A dragon and human as one!" Artha himself was a bit shocked by the new look, but grinned nonetheless. "Destroy him now!" He screeched angrily.
His Prophet's continued to fire mag-blasts at Beau as he gained speed running around the walls of the pit. One of the mag-blasts struck the ledge he was standing on and it crumbled, sending the alpha dragon falling down.
"YOU FOOLS! NOT ME!" He managed to catch himself clinging to a ledge above a lava pit. His orange dragons turned and fled the scene, leaving their leader abandoned.
Artha somehow noticed that Propheci was in danger of falling into the lava with his mind controlled rider. "Beau, we have to help Propheci, he's in trouble!" They separated back into a normal rider and dragon, the black and gold dragon leapt from the wall onto the ground and skidded to a halt above the dangling dragon.
"Propheci, hold on! We can save you!" He called down to the dragon, who hissed at them.
"No, stay away, my own can save me!" The orange dragon was stubborn and refused the dragon booster's help.
Artha shook his head. "Your own have fled." Beau glowed and a gold mag-stream shot out, somehow going over the edge and grabbing Propheci, but his mag energy alone wasn't enough to pull the dragon back up, he needed help.
"Beau's energy is almost drained! Come on, Beau! Guys, a little teamwork here!" He called to his friends.
"You got it. Give me all you've got, Wyldfyr." the red bi-pedal dragon growled and joined his mag-stream with Beau's.
"Hang on, Beau. We'll help you." The red dragon said.
"Us too!" Cyrano grumbled as he and Fracshun combined their mag energy to Beau's.
"Ok guys, let's do it!" Artha directed and the dragons backed up as Propheci could not hold on any longer and his grip slipped, sending him and his rider towards the bubbling lava, but at the last moment, the dragons combined mag-stream was enough to fully catch him and pull him back up onto solid ground.
Once he was back on land, the teens cheered as the alpha dragon panted from the ordeal. He looked at the teens. "It appears we have misjudged you. Today you have shown us that perhaps dragons and humans can work together after all." His mind possessed rider spoke before the orange gear on his head glowed and the rider groaned in pain as the gear was released and he removed his helmet, revealing a young man with grey eyes and red spiked hair.
"My name is Reepyr, we have ourselves to dragon kind long ago, fearing they were the only ones fit to rule. You have passed the test, and you may go. But remember." Reepryr winced as if in pain, and by how he was just released from orange control gear, the teens could see why.
"The dragon is always watching." Propheci added sinisterly.
'Where did you take Iris?" Artha questioned.
"Iris?" Reepryr questioned.
"Our sister. Where is she?" Lance asked, wanting his sister. Propheci led the group through the door and soon entered a dungeon with cages. Artha and Lance saw their sister in one cage with Prisma in another.
"Iris!" Both boys shouted and the teen looked up. "Artha, Lance, Kitt, Parm. You guys are okay!" She expressed relief at seeing her brothers and friends safe and unharmed. Artha hopped out of his saddle and approached the cage, seeing the Prophet's symbol on the wall beside the cage, he pressed it and the cage opened up.
Iris ran out and the cage closed up, she was engulfed in a tight hug by her brothers as Reepryr released Prisma from her cage and the hybrid was reunited with her rider.
"We were so worried about you." Lance said as he clung to his sister tightly. "I was worried about you guys too."
She noticed the young man standing by the cage that Prisma had occupied. "My name is Reepryr, Propheci's rider. I am so sorry about locking you and your dragon up."
She eyed him for a few moments before nodding. "You weren't yourself, how can I blame you for something that was out of your hands?"
The man nodded to her and she mounted her saddle, the teens all together once more, as they left the dungeon, Propheci gazed at Prisma, who snarled at him and gave him a powerful smack across the face with her tail as she left and they headed for the exit, coming out of the temple onto the other side and in sight of the racing track.
"We're back on the track, and the race is still on." Parm saw the racing teams pass by ahead of them and looked excited. "Maybe we can catch up!?"
"Maybe we can still win it!" Lance added with excitement.
Artha smiled at his brother's excitement. "As a team. All of us." He looked to Iris with a smile. "Including you, Iris, this team would not be here without you."
She smiled warmly at him, her heart filling with love and affection for her family. "Thank you, all of you."
Kitt gave a smirk in Parm's direction. "Try not to slow us down!" She lifted the cover of her control with a grin.
Parm looked a little anxious by the look. "What are you…" she pressed the button, activating the red thruster gear Cyrano had and sent him rocketing forward as he screamed. The others laughed and their dragons raced off to join the race and hopefully win it.
I hope you like and reviews would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy.
