Chapter Five
Badnik Busting and Magic Paint
Crashing metal, short-circuiting electronics, clanging, and spin-dashing sounds echoed through the hall, and resonated in every inch of every wall.
Sonic punched a Swatbot in the middle of the face, cracking its eye, and popped its head off with a Homing Attack. The decapitated robot crashed into an active Swatbot, knocking it out of the fight before Sonic could trash it.
Sonia stood by Uncle Chuck's side, and rapidly tapped the trigger of her piano blaster, letting three of the Swatbots have a taste of Sonia power. Uncle Chuck brought up his wrench, and hit a Swatbot in the leg so hard, the joint disconnected.
Part of the wall exploded from intense laser fire as Sonic dodged a blast from a Swatbot, and he bumped into one of the robotic stormtroopers as it was advancing in his direction.
"PREPARE FOR ROBOTICIZATION IN THE NAME OF DOCTOR IVO ROBOTNIK!" The robot buzzed.
Sonic laughed in a smug manner. "How about you prepare for the trash heap, bolt brain?!" He retorted.
Just then, he noticed that the magic brush in his hand was glowing in a majestic manner. Uncle Chuck seemed to notice that too, and, right as he was taking out one of the Badniks, he called out to his nephew, "Try using it against the enemies, Sonic!"
'No problem.' Sonic thought, and he flicked the paint brush. A blue light shot from the tip, and blue paint splattered all over the Swatbot. The Badnik let out some distorted noises, then it toppled over, and smashed to pieces against a nearby wall.
"Super cool!" Sonic exclaimed, and he launched himself at several Swatbots, knocking them over like a bowling ball striking a pair of bowling pins. Then he flicked the brush again, taking out another Swatbot with more paint magic.
"Out of the way, Sonic!" Sonia called, and the blue hedgehog ducked as his sister blasted a Swatbot with her blaster, reducing it to smithereens.
"Look out, kiddos!"
Uncle Chuck came up on a duo of Swatbots, and swung his wrench hard enough to knock off both of their heads. Sonic and Sonia ducked, right as the decapitated Swatbot heads flew over, and exploded against the wall.
Sonic grabbed his sister and uncle, knowing they couldn't hang around the joint any longer. The blue hedgehog took off through the corridor at high velocity with Chuck and Sonia hanging on tight, and they smashed through a door, nearly showering themselves in splinters in the process.
Luckily, he made sure the splinters didn't get either of his relatives. Sonic raced through a large ballroom-like chamber, and passed by a statue that bore the likeness of Robotnik from the AoSTH series.
A large wrecking ball suddenly came down from the ceiling, and the hedgehogs ducked in the nick of time, racing through an open doorway into the next hall. Sonic spotted a hard-locked door at the far end of the corridor, and brought out the magic brush.
With the flick of the tool's magical tip, a bolt of green-blue energy streaked towards the door, and the lock melted off as though it was nothing.
"You can use thinner and paint!" Chuck told Sonic.
"Totally rad!" The blue blur exclaimed as he kept running for it.
"HERE COME MORE BADNIKS!" Sonia warned.
Another legion of Swatbots was waiting for the blue blur in the castle's lower sanctum, accompanied by a pair of similar-looking robots that Sonic recognized from the pre-reboot era of his Archie Comics line; Shadow-Bots.
Laser fire erupted all around the hedgehogs, with the Badniks aiming to take out Sonic, and prevent him from escaping no matter what.
Badnik attacks meant business, and the hedgehog took action again. He rammed the first batch with a well-timed boost, then he went all out with a spin attack combo. Sonia's medallion glowed, and she let loose with her special piano weapon again, adding more laser fire to the mix.
A Swatbot laser struck the base of a statue that Uncle Chuck was next to, and it began to topple over. Chuck looked up, seeing that he was about to get crushed by the falling statue, and he shielded himself. Sonic saw what was going on, and he ran towards the scene as fast as he could.
The blue speedster grabbed his uncle, and pulled him out of the way in record time. Sonic inspected Chuck, making sure that he wasn't all that badly hurt, and the elderly hedgehog dusted himself off, letting Sonic know he was fine.
"SURRENDER, SURRENDER OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!"
Laser fire returned Sonic's attention to the fight, and he saw Sonia encircled by Swatbots as she fought with all that she had. The blue hedgehog nodded to Uncle Chuck, and ran back into the battle, determined to help his sister and get them out of the situation as fast as possible.
He bisected a pair of Shadow-Bots with a spin-dash, kicked a Swatbot's head off, and flicked his paint brush hard enough to send out multiple waves of blue and green energy that covered the Badniks in blue paint and green thinner, which disabled and decimated both robots.
Motivated by Sonic's actions, Sonia kept fighting, and blasted four Swatbots with her piano blaster while Chuck ran back into the battle with his wrench, and he hacked a Badnik to pieces with a kick and several whacks from his tool.
"I'll say, thanks for helping, Sonic." Sonia said to the speedster.
"Nothing a hedgehog can't handle." The blue blur commented.
"We should really get out of this castle." Chuck coughed, "Robotnik's got more troops, and there's still the Phantom Turbo Master to worry about. The longer we stay, the more trouble we wind up in."
Sonic nodded in agreement, and he scooped up his uncle, and sister, "You got that right. When it's time to juice, it's time to hit the road, and escape this place before more trouble ensues."
