Amanda looked up to see Fin and Liv still standing in front of her.
"You guys go ahead and go on up to the surgical waiting room. I'm going to stay down here and wait for Mr. and Mrs. Carisi." Amanda said, wiping her eyes.
"Nah, we will stay with you." Fin said in hopes of cheering Amanda up a little.
Liv put her hand on Amanda's shoulder "Do you want me to call your baby sitter and have her bring the girls up here?"
Amanda nods and then looks up at the ceiling, trying to keep from crying even more.
"Yes, please. It would be good for them to be here, to see the only father they have ever really known. I want Sonny to know we're all here for him." Amanda said. Even though her girls called him Uncle Sonny, he was more like a father.
Liv took out her phone and quickly dials the number of Amanda's babysitter while Fin stayed by Amanda's side, offering support.
"They're strong kids, Amanda. Just like their mom. They'll get through this." Fin said.
Amanda managed a small smile, grateful for Fin's words of encouragement.
"Thank's Fin. I don't know what I would do without you guys."
Fin put his arm around her shoulders and gave her a gentle squeeze. "We're family, Rollins. We'll always be here for you."
Liv finished her call and rejoins them.
"The babysitter is on her way with the girls. They'll be here soon." Liv informs Amanda.
"Thanks Liv. I appreciate.
Liv gives her a reassuring smile "We're in this together, Amanda. Just remember, we're not giving up on Sonny. He's a fighter, just like you. We have to stay positive."
With that, Amanda lost her cool.
"Positive? Liv you saw that note. Did you see anything positive written in it?" Amanda raised her voice, causing others in the waiting room to look to see what was going on.
"You think the wreck was on purpose?" Liv asked, trying to wrap her head around the idea.
Amanda gets out of her chair and starts pacing. She pinches the bridge of her nose.
"What else am I supposed to think Liv?" Amanda asks. "He was drunk when he left my apartment. He left a suicide note."
Liv stops Amanda from pacing for a moment.
"But he wouldn't do it like this. Besides, he was on his way to the squad room when he had the wreck." Liv reminded her.
Amanda looked at Olivia, her eyes filled with desperation and confusion.
"Liv, I don't know what to believe anymore. The evidence is pointing towards him wanting to end his life. How can we ignore that?" Amanda asks.
Liv takes a deep breath, trying to find the right words to comfort Amanda.
"We have to consider all possibilities. Maybe the note was a cry for help, not a definite intention to end his life. And the fact that he was on his way to the squad room suggests that he wanted to be with us, not alone."
Amanda looks Liv straight in the eye, trying not to let her own tears fall.
"But Liv, what if he was just putting up a facade? What if he was trying to convince himself and us that he was fine?"
Olivia places a hand on Amanda's arm. "We can't jump to conclusions."
Their conversation is cut off when Sonny's parents Serafina and Dominick Carisi Senior walked into the waiting room. Serafina spots Amanda and rushes over to her.
"We came as soon as Captain Benson called us. How is he?" Serafina asks.
"We're losing him." Amanda says as she busts into tears.
Serafina's eyes widen in shock and panic as she takes a step back, her hand reaching out for support. Dominick Carisi Senior quickly moves to her side, trying to steady her.
"What do you mean, we're losing him?" Dom asked.
Amanda, her voice choked with emotion, struggles to find the words.
"I'm so sorry Mr. and Mrs. Carisi. Sonny's in pretty bad shape. He's in emergency surgery now and the doctors are doing everything they can, but it doesn't look good."
Serafina breaks down, her body shaking with grief and fear. Dom wraps his arms around her, offering what little comfort he can.
"This can't be happening. Our Sonny...he's so young." Serafina cries.
"The doctor told us there is a waiting room upstairs if we wanted to wait up there." Olivia suggests. "It's a lot more comfortable then the hard chairs down here."
"That sounds like a great idea." Dom says as he helps Serafina up.
"No, I'm going to find the chapel and pray. If anything is going to help him, it's God." Serafina says with determination in her voice.
"I can show you where it is. Fin can you walk Amanda and Mr. Carisi upstairs?" Liv suggests.
Fin nods and escorts Amanda and Dom upstairs to the surgical waiting area. As Serafina and Liv walk towards the chapel, Serafina's are heavy with worry, her face etched with pain.
"Serafina, I can't imagine what you're going through right now, after losing Gina and now this." Liv says shaking her head.
"I am trying to believe that Sonny is okay. Sometimes you need to have faith in something greater than us." Serafina says, tears filling her eyes.
Serafina walks in front of Liv and stops.
"Okay Olivia, we are away from Amanda and Dom so give it to me straight. I know you know more than what you are telling. How is my Dominick?"
"Amanda knows he was in a car wreck and she knows he has life threatening injuries..." Liv answers, not sure she wants to give Sonny's mom the whole truth.
"But?" Serafina asks.
"Sonny's SUV went off the side of the road and flipped several times. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt. When emergency crews arrived they found that he had been thrown halfway through the windshield." Liv explained.
"Oh my God!" Serafina replied.
Her heart skipped a beat. The words swirled in her mind, unable to comprehend the gravity of the situation. It all seemed like a nightmare too terrible to be real.
"When they went to get him out of the SUV they found a piece of glass in his stomach which was causing some major bleeding." Liv continued.
"You said he went through the windshield. I'm sure they are worried about a brain injury?" Serafina asked, her eyes filled with tears.
Olivia nodded. "Yes, unfortunately. Sonny has swelling and bleeding on the brain. The doctors are going to work on it during the surgery."
Serafina's hands tremble with fear. She reached out and clutched Olivia's hands tightly for support.
"There is nothing too big for God to handle. My boy is in good hands. I will be sure not to tell Amanda that you let me know. She would lose it if she knew the details." Serafina explained.
Olivia nodded. "You're right, we need to be careful what we share. Amanda is already overwhelmed, and knowing the full extent of Sonny's injuries might push her over the edge."
"We'll keep praying for a miracle and trust that the doctors will do everything they can for Sonny. If you will excuse me, I am going to slip in here to the chapel and pray for my son." Serafina said as she opened the door and walked into the chapel.
Serafina took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts as she walked towards the front of the chapel. Finding a pew, she knelt down to pray. She closed her eyes and poured out her heart.
"Dear God, please hear my prayers." Serafina whispered. "I ask for divine intervention and healing for Sonny. Please guide the doctors and nurses in their efforts to restore his health. Give him the strength to fight through this difficult time. I believe in the power of your love and miracles. Amen."
Liv meets up with the group in the surgical waiting room and is surprised by what she finds. Dominick Carisi is sitting with his daughter Bella and Theresa, but as she looks around she finds the room is filled with officers and detectives. She finds Fin and walks over to him.
"There you are. Stabler has been looking for you." Fin says.
"Stabler's here?" Liv asked.
"Said he heard it was one of our own and wanted to be here." Fin responded.
Olivia walks down the hallway, her face lined with worry. As she rounds the corner, she finds Elliot Stabler, who is rolling down the sleeve of his shirt. Olivia looks up at him with tears in her eyes.
"Liv, there you are. I had been looking for you." Stabler says gently.
He pulls her in close and places a soft kiss to the top of her head as she cries into his chest.
"Shhh...it's okay." Stabler tries to comfort her.
Olivia looks up at him, her expression still full of concern.
"But it's not okay. It's Carisi. He's been through tough times before, but never thrown through a windshield."
Stabler takes a deep breath, his gaze full of reassurance.
"He's going to be fine. You know why I know that? Because when I first got here they said he needed blood and I gave him some of mine."
Stabler pulled Olivia in close, holding her tightly.
"He's going to be okay."
Olivia laid her forehead against his chest, allowing her tears to flow. She allowed in that moment for Stabler to hold her and offer her comfort and support.
