Eddy caught brief flashes of lights, the nauseating swirl of blended colors, and the distorted cacophony of muted noises as he faded in and out of consciousness. They would come and go in a steady rhythm, his conscience fighting to the surface briefly before submerging back under the gentle tides that lolled him.
He remembered seeing white, a monotonous sheet of sterile surroundings before the blackness pulled him back under. He could hear the sound of voices, warped and distant, but there. If he listened closely enough, he could make out a few words.
In his serene darkness, he would try and grab hold of the light. He wanted to pull himself into that brightness that both seemed so cold yet felt like home. He managed to hang on for a few seconds before it slipped from his fingers. With each failure, he would try again. And again.
At one point, he managed to hold onto the light long enough to blink open glued-shut eyes. He was meet with an artic wall of white, the faintest hints of color sporadically jumping into vision here and there. Then he slipped and fell, but he became more determined than ever.
Something told him that he shouldn't stay in the darkness; that suspicion was only confirmed the next time he managed to grab hold of the light. He squeezed it in his hands. This time, along with the sea of white, came the softest brush of a voice at his ears. Though distant and muffled, it had sounded so eager to see his closed eyes open. It brought a sense of relief to him, though he wasn't sure why.
The third try to hang onto the light resulted in a little clearer vision, his blanket of white morphing into the faintest of outlines: a machine of sorts here, a silhouette there. It was all still so blurry, hard to make out, but he felt rejoiced. He was getting further and further away from the empty nothingness he had been floating in.
The fourth time, he held on long enough to make out the rough voice of the person next to him. He faintly tried to place the source of that voice, of whom it belonged to. It was still too warped though, the voice coming through with a steady boom of static overlay. It whispered pretty things to him, things that warmed him, so he pushed harder to the surface, clung tighter to the light.
It wasn't until the seventh time that he was able to make sense of his surroundings. It was clear he was in some sort of institution, most likely a hospital if all of the machines around him were any indicator. His eyes trailed over the speckled ceiling above him, down the lightly painted walls, eyes raking over nameless paintings decorating a few of the walls.
Then he looked to his right, eyes landing on the huddled form of a sleeping figure. They rested their upper half on his bed, eyes closed, soft subtle snores coming out with every breath. It took him a moment, to place that comforting scent of flourishing Earth and wispy smoke.
The blackness was pulling him back under, but Eddy was grateful this time. He hand so many conflicting feelings about the male sleeping soundly beside him. He was a source of pain and suffering, a tome of passion and lust, the yield of love; he was Kevin, his lover… The same man who built him up, left him standing precariously on a totem pole, only to send it tumbling over. His Alpha, the only one he wanted.
Every time he managed to lift from the depths of the darkness, Eddy would shift his eyes to his right, where his Alpha always stayed. He was always present, no matter what time Eddy managed to pull himself to the waking world. Sometimes he was sleeping, other times he would watch the distant television… sometimes, though, he could hear his soft cries, gut-wrenching pain lingering in every little sob.
Eddy found that he didn't like that sound, that he didn't enjoy hearing the agony in Kevin's wavering voice. It hurt him, deeper than any vicious word the red head had spoken to him. He wanted to soothe it away, wanted to reach out and touch his Alpha, let him know he heard his suffering and he would ease it as best he could.
His Alpha gave him soft little pleas, begging him to come back. Eddy was trying, even though wasn't entirely sure where he had gone. He only knew of the cold, sinking blackness that had been home for eons now. He wanted to break free, but it was just so hard sometimes.
On his twelfth time in the light, he managed move a hand. It was a small shift, but he had done it. He curled his fingers, forced his hand the few centimeters to the calloused one next to him. It took so much effort, but he finally managed to twitch his fingers again, curling them against Kevin's own, pinky fingers entwining lightly. He watched as the jock jumped, hand dropping his phone to stare at him. A pause, a recognition, and then he was slipping under once more to the sound of his name dancing off his Alpha's tongue.
It took awhile before he was able to pull himself back into reality, his energy having been zapped after his ambitious movements last time. This time, blue eyes opened to meet those beautiful emerald eyes staring right back at him. His name fell from those lips like a prayer, a smile breaking over troubled features, even as tears freely fell.
Kevin had wrapped up his hand into both of his, kisses being placed onto his fingers every second. Eddy tried to smile, but he wasn't sure if his face was showing it. A rough hand reached out and threaded through his hair, pushing the disheveled, overgrown locks from his face. Kevin stood quickly, leaning over him to place sweet kisses against his cheek.
He managed to numbly lift his hand to his Alpha's face before he began to slip back into the darkness. Those haunting green eyes following him the entire time.
Again, time lapsed between his ability to hold the light. It seemed like he had backed off to build strength, and just when that prison of darkness got to be too much, he grasped the light again.
This time, when eyes opened, he was greeted by several figures in his room. His Alpha stood perched in his usual spot, hands always encompassing his own. To his left, he met matching blue eyes that belonged to his mother. She gave him a heart-warming smile, her lips kissing his cheek as her eyes watered.
Just over Kevin's shoulder stood Double D, a shaky smile on his face as he fought a losing war against his own tears. Ed was beside him, arm around the lean omega's waist in comfort, smiling brightly at Eddy.
Eddy, for the most part, managed to actually smile back, head tilting a little to the side. With a deep breath, he took a chance, forcing air through vocal cords in the hopes of producing sound.
He managed a weak and raspy 'Hi' which sent the occupants in his room cheering. Eddy wasn't sure what was so impressive about his terrible attempt to say anything, but their genuine joy flooded his soul with warmth.
Eddy didn't want to let go of the light, not this time, but he was told to rest. He was surprised how eager his body had been to do so. Despite spending eternity in that weightless nothing, his body felt as if it hadn't slept in weeks. With a parting smile, Eddy fell into slumber, the darkness giving way to sacchariferous dreams.

Eddy gave a rugged groan as he slipped back into his body, his limbs feeling like they were weighted down. His whole being was tired, exhausted even, despite being asleep for who-knows how long.
The omega gave a soft wince as he stretched his limbs, long dormant joints popping and snapping to life. He opened his eyes, only to immediately shut them again, the bright fluorescent lights burning his retina.
He could feel a hand threading through his hair, wringing a soft 'hum' from his throat. That rough voice called to him, which Eddy answered with another hum.
"Are the lights too bright?" it asked him, and Eddy nodded. Shuffling was heard, a click, and then the lights beyond his eyelids dampened, the room softly illuminated by a backlight sitting just behind the bed. When Eddy opened his eyes, he was greeted with the site of an incredibly comfy looking Kevin.
"Hey." Eddy said, his voice rough from the prolonged misuse of it. Kevin gave him a bright smile, hand automatically enclosing one of his own.
"Hey, sleepy head." The jock answered softly, hand bringing Eddy's to his lips to place a kiss there, "How are you feeling?"
"Mmm… Like I just woke up from hibernation." Eddy joked lightly, getting a soft chuckle for his effort.
"How are you really feeling?" Kevin asked after a moment, his face all seriousness and no play.
"I'm okay, tired. My body feels achy and my arms and legs feel like they weigh a ton. Kinda hurts to talk too." The omega answered, his hand pulling free from Kevin's in an effort to sit himself up further. Kevin quickly assisted, putting his bed in a reclined, seated position.
"How long have I been out?" Eddy asked, both curious and dreading the answer.
"You've been in and out for a couple of weeks now." Kevin said and moved his chair closer to the head of the bed, so he could be right next to the omega, "Fuck, I'm so happy you're awake."
Eddy gave a soft noise of agreement, a hand coming to rest on the gentle swell of his stomach, directly over where the baby had kicked. He soothed the tender flesh, wincing as that had been particularly hard.
"What happened?" Eddy asked, his head shifting to look the Alpha over. Kevin frowned, eyes unreadable as he began to recount Eddy's collapse. He informed Eddy of his seizure, of the absolute soul-sucking fear they had all felt, believing that they would be saying goodbye to both omega and unborn child all too soon. Kevin recounted his endless days by Eddy's bedside, tending to him, coaxing him to open his eyes. Eddy felt his own uncontrollable terror as his Alpha explained how he almost lost their child, a deep constricting pain pulling at his heart.
"The baby's fine now; they got her heart rate back up to where it needs to be." Kevin quickly explained when he saw the fear morphing onto Eddy's face. The omega calmed slightly, releasing a sigh of relief as he gently rubbed his belly.
"Wait," Eddy said after a moment, his eyes snapping up to Kevin's in shocked surprise, "You said her."
Kevin flinched and smacked himself upside the head, "I wasn't supposed to tell you that."
"It's a girl?" Eddy asked in awe, the Alpha nodding affirmatively. Eddy gave a happy laugh, both hands cupping his small pregnant belly in a show of joy. In his unparalleled excitement, Eddy quickly snatched one of Kevin's hands, bringing it to the place where he felt the most activity.
When blue eyes looked up, his Alpha was frozen in place. Eddy tensed slightly, thinking he had done something wrong, but when Kevin gave a large, goofy smile, his hand pressing harder to where the baby was kicking, Eddy eased into a relaxed pose.
"You… Don't ever…" Kevin stumbled over the right words and, instead, leaned forward to place a delicate kiss to Eddy's dry lips. It was brief, there for a moment and then gone. Kevin held himself close to the omega, their breath mingling together. Kevin went to lean forward again but stopped himself, as if he was second guessing himself.
Eddy closed the gap, his body surging forward, looking for that sweet affection from the older teen. The two allowed a slow, passionate kiss to play out, tongues languidly dancing together, each taking their time to re-map the other's mouth. They pulled away, Kevin resting a hand on Eddy's chin, his lips pecking Eddy's quickly as intense eyes looked into the omega.
The Alpha plunged forward again, claiming his omega's lips in a steamy tango, tongues dancing together lewdly as the Alpha poured every ounce of love, passion, and lust into the kiss. When he pulled away, Eddy was breathless.
"Scared the shit outta me," Kevin confessed and he sat on the edge of the bed, hand gently rubbing a thumb over Eddy's bottom lip.
Eddy smiled softly, hands coming up to cup his Alpha's cheeks, pulling him back into another round of romantic kisses, muttering a quick 'Sorry' in-between rounds.
"Don't ever do that again." Kevin commanded, a strong arm wrapping around Eddy's waist to pull him against his body, mouth diving back in to devour his caught prey.
Kevin pressed Eddy back into the bed, body slightly hovering over his petite form as they mildly reclined. Eddy gave a hum of approval, hand gripping the red head's black tank top, bunching the fabric and pulling him closer. Kevin would have happily continued, but the loud voice over the overhead speaker snapped them both back to reality, the pair separating but panting slightly.
"What time is it?" Eddy asked once he calmed his hammering heart. Kevin twisted and reached for his phone, a finger pushing the power button to light up his display.
"4:27." Kevin said, lightly tossing the device back onto the cushion of the chair he had been sitting on. Eddy looked confused, eyes glancing at the window.
"But it's so dark out." Eddy said as he shifted his body around, trying to find a comfortable position for his aching body.
Kevin gave a hearty laugh, his head shaking as he answered, "A.M. babe."
"What the hell are we doing awake?!" the omega cried in surprise. The jock gave a smirk, his eye winking suggestively. It was Eddy's turn to laugh, his hand playfully shoving the Alpha, "Such a perv."
"Only for you," Kevin answered, which made his heart jump and a distant ache to grow. He couldn't tell if Kevin was serious or not; especially with the memory of their last interaction surfacing to the forefront of his brain.
Eddy slid over on the best as best he could, pulling at his Alpha as he did so, "Sleep with me."
Kevin looked dubious at first, unsure if he would fit on the bed with his pregnant omega. It took some clever maneuvering, but they were both on, tangled up in each other, and soon, fast asleep.
A routine knock at his door had Eddy pausing mid-sentence to watch the large wooden panel swing open, the dietary aide bringing in a warm tray, the plastic cloche still covering the plates contents. The worker gave the omega a gentle smile, placing the tray on the small, wooden table that Kevin had just wheeled into place.
The aide left the room, closing the door at the occupants' request. Left to their privacy once more, Eddy turned back to his Alpha.
"I… don't even remember what I was saying." Eddy said with a frustrated sigh. Kevin reached over to remove the ugly-colored cloche, revealing the omega's breakfast underneath.
"Doesn't matter, eat up." Kevin coaxed, his bulky frame leaning back into the chair he had made his home for the past few weeks.
Eddy looked at the food and blanched, "This shit is so gross."
"That may be true," Kevin laughed, his hand picking up the fork on the tray, scooping up a mouthful of eggs, and presenting it to the omega like a gift, "But you still need to eat it."
Eddy obliged, but made a disgusted face all the same, "Would it kill them to flavor this crap?"
"There's salt and pepper on the tray, use it." Kevin said, an absolute shit-eating grin on his face.
"No amount of salt and pepper is going to make this shit edible." Eddy grumbled, taking another, albeit smaller, mouthful, face scrunching in disgust.
"Well, you get to leave today," Kevin started in, his eyes carefully watching his omega, "So, I'll get you whatever you want to eat."
"Good. I want a nice, juicy sausage." Eddy said, all serious eyes and no nonsense. Kevin raised an eyebrow at that.
"A sausage, really?" the Alpha asked dubiously. Eddy nodded his head, still entirely too serious.
"A big, fat one… To fill me up."
A pause, moments of silence stretching on for a few seconds before Kevin finally asked, "Are we even talking about food?"
Eddy choked on the piece of bacon in his mouth, his hand hammering his chest lightly while simultaneously trying to keep his laughter under control.
"Of course we are," Eddy managed to squeeze out in between his bouts of laughter, "Jeeze! Kevin, get your mind outta the gutter."
"Well, you made it sound entirely too sexual." Kevin muttered, a dusting of a blush on his cheeks, a small pout on his lips.
"I mean, I'll take your sausage too. Just need to promise me as many orgasms as-"
"Eddy!" Kevin shushed, his cheeks now fully red though the smirk that crossed his lips spoke for him.
"I'm horny! And bored… mostly horny." Eddy said as he finished off the last of his meal, his hand bringing his cup of water to his lips.
"Jesus Christ." Kevin muttered, his head shaking in disbelief at the brazen omega.
"What?" Eddy asked, his tone still playful, "We could kill two birds with one stone!"
"Oh my god…" Kevin said, exasperated. Eddy only laughed at the jock's embarrassment, "No more sex talk!"
Eddy immediately 'booed', his own pout puffing out his lips. The duo fell into a comfortable silence, there attention focused on the drama playing out on the television show.
Eddy's eyes trailed to where his and Kevin's hands were intertwined, fingers lacing delicately together. It brought a warm feeling to his heart, a small smile kissing his features.
He didn't want to blink, for fear of this disappearing, leaving him in the hollowness of his soul. He knew this was most likely pretend, but god! Did he want to keep pretending. This little lie was Paradise Lost, regained momentarily in the absence of preservation. Reality could wait, if only for a little while.
He had heard the many things his Alpha had whispered, heard the sanctity in his words; but they had all been so terribly sweet… Would it really matter at this point if he allowed himself to fall? Again?
His Alpha said he had chosen wrong, that his inner beast screamed long and loud for his omega. His Alpha promised to mend things, fix what was broken. He had so badly wanted to believe the red head, to the point where he forsaken all common sense in the hopes of just being able to grasp that ever-so-distant Heaven-in-waiting.
On a wing and a prayer, Eddy took the bait, grabbed hold to the last lifeline swinging his way. He was terrified, oh so terrified, that his Alpha will realize that this particular omega was defective. Yet, no matter how much darkness Eddy allowed to seep out, his Alpha had stayed, always to his right, always by his side.
Kevin never left, his being present for every test and ultrasound, for every vial of blood drawn against his will… His Alpha stayed, hand in his own, eyes bewitched with rapture, watching as Eddy bred life to their creation. Never once did a complaint leave those chapped lips, no matter how many days passed, how many nights spent in an impossibly uncomfortable sleeping arrangement. He stayed, through it all, his presence helping to ground Eddy when all the poking and prodding became too much.
Eddy's smile grew, his hand lightly squeezing the Alpha's, who, in turn, tightened his grip. His eyes glanced up at the clock on the wall, noting the time. He had about another hour of alone time with the redhead before his mother arrived.
"Kevin," Eddy asked, watching as the jock turned his attention back to him, "Help me stand? I have got to get out of this bed."
The Alpha nodded, moving the wheel-able tray out of the way, his arm helping to tug Eddy into a seated position on the edge of his bed. The omega gave a hum of contentment when he was finally on his feet, the rough hospital socks keeping his feet from the frigid ground.
"That's already so much better!" Eddy grumbled as he stretched then balanced precariously as he shook each leg, trying to get the blood flowing. Seeing Kevin's questioning face, Eddy supplied him with an answer, "I'm sick on lying down. I want to move!"
Kevin said nothing, lending his arm as support until the petite male got his limbs to stop tingling, his form stabilizing the shifted balance of his frame.
"Good?" Kevin questioned, to which the omega nodded his head. When Kevin let go, Eddy walked several laps around the room, enjoying the movement as it stretched his muscles.
Eventually, Eddy came to stand near the window, his eyes looking over the scenery surrounding the hospital. The sun just began to peak through dark clouds, bathing the land in an array of lights and shadows. He could see the trees sway under a fierce wind, no doubt from the storm that was trying to form up above.
Kevin came up behind him, his strong arms looping around his waist as the Alpha stooped down, his chin resting against Eddy's shoulder. They swayed lightly back and forth, the serenity broken only by the sounds of the hospital. Kevin periodically placed a kiss to Eddy's neck or shoulder, lips lingering for only a moment.
"Kev," Eddy began, watching Kevin's reflection in the glass, "Thought of any names?"
Kevin was silent for a moment, lost in thought before he shook his head, "No. You?"
Eddy gave a large grin, opening his mouth to answer but Kevin quickly cut him off, "If you say Edwina or some shit like that, I'll smack you."
Eddy puffed his cheeks, his fun ruined. Tossing his joke aside, Eddy thought long and hard, carefully weighing options before he, too, shook his head, "No, not really. None that I like, at least."
"Well, we still have time." Kevin said as he straightened, turning the omega in his arms to face him. Lips met in a tender kiss, a breathy sigh leaving Eddy as they connected. Kevin held on for a little longer before he pulled back, a soft smile on his lips.
A watery smile broke over his own lips, that all-too-familiar pressure of tears just behind his eyes. Kevin noticed and immediately began soothing the omega in front of him.
"What's wrong?" Kevin asked almost frantically, hands busy with wiping away the falling tears. Eddy shook his head, not wanting to ruin the moment, or even the time, he had with Kevin.
"Come on, Eddy," Kevin coaxed, only for the omega to barely contain his pain, his scent burning the ozone with torment and woe.
" Tell me." The command came softly, the tone still deep as his inner beast clung to his words, but this time, it sounded so soothing to his twisted nerves.
"Promise you won't get mad." Eddy weakly asked, his eyes starring dutifully at the tiled floor.
"I promise." Kevin answered, his own un-dampened singe of troubled misery mingling with Eddy's, bathing the room in a soft scent of sandalwood and ash.
"I just… I…" Eddy paused to suck in a calming breath, his Alpha rubbing soothing circles into his back, "I just keep thinking this is a dream, that you're not really here."
Eddy could feel himself falling apart, his lungs burning for oxygen as his painful cries kept him gasping. Kevin's expression fell; he wasn't angry, not at all. He was disgusted with himself… for doing this, for laying doubt within his omega. He knew it would take time and he was willing to spend eternity trying to seek retribution.
"I'm sorry, Eddy. I'm so, so sorry." Kevin said as he pulled Eddy's petite frame to his own, back hunched low to tightly hug the damaged teen, "I'm an asshole. I hurt you; the last thing I ever wanted to do. But trust me, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
"What about Nazz?" Eddy couldn't help but ask, a bitter undertone lurking in his voice.
"What about her?" Kevin asked softly, pulling away so Eddy could look into his eyes.
"She's your 'girlfriend'." Eddy hissed, his fingers doing the air quotes to prove his point.
"No, not any more." Kevin said, a smile stretching over his lips. Eddy looked at him in startled confusion, his mouth opening to question more, but slammed shut.
Kevin coaxed Eddy to sit in the lounger chair next to the window, he, himself, kneeling next to the omega. He ran his hand through thick, black locks, lips kissing Eddy's pale forehead.
"I broke it off." Kevin elaborated.
"Why?"
"I kissed her," Kevin began, watching as Eddy's features darkened for a moment, "And I felt cold."
Kevin leaned forward, lightly pecking Eddy's lips, "But when I kiss you, my soul burns. I want you; only you."
"That was so cheesy." Eddy said after many minutes of silence, a light chuckle dancing in the air. Kevin puffed his cheeks in indignation, but was quickly swept up in a powerful, romanticized kiss, leaving them both breathless when they pulled away.
Eddy glanced over at the clock, noting that his mother should be arriving at any moment. He wanted his mother with him, but the atmosphere between her and his Alpha was stifling. He felt like he was being suffocated alive by the two domineering figures.
The young teen's brow scrunched, an uncomfortable hum leaving him as his hand immediately cupped his belly, hand soothingly rubbing at the tender flesh. The tight feeling grew worse, drawing a whine of discomfort from the omega teen.
"Eddy?" Kevin questioned, watching as the young teen's expression morphed from discomfort to troublesome, a spark of worry washing through the older Alpha.
"I dunno… just feels like a bad cramp." Eddy hissed, his body blowing out a lung full of air before he began to relax again.
"That," a feminine voice interjected, causing both teens to look over at the opened door, "Is called a Braxton Hick."
Nancy gave a soft smile, her small, plump frame rushing over to Eddy to kiss him on the cheek. The omega tried hard to ignore the glower of distaste she sent Kevin, and, luckily, the Alpha hadn't seen it or just flat out ignored it.
"The hell is that?" Eddy asked as he finally felt the tight cramp ease away.
"They're just practice contractions, nothing to worry about." Her warm tone added, her hand lightly squeezing her son's before she pulled away. A bright smile flashed across her face, "My baby gets to come home."
"Thanks Mom." Eddy muttered, a light blush coloring his cheeks in embarrassment, "Uh… where's Dad?"
His mother's smile fell, a grimace coming over her face, "He had to work, dear. But he sends his wishes!"
"Liar." The omega said bitterly, knowing full well his father was absolutely furious and disgusted by his son's pregnancy. It only served to remind the headstrong Alpha that he had an omega for a son.
"Eddy, you know he loves you. He just," she paused, taking a moment to think, "has a hard time showing it."
Eddy didn't reply, simply rolled his eyes in response. Kevin, sensing his oncoming anguish, squeezed his hand lightly before pulling it to his lips to drop a kiss across it. The omega gave the older teen a thankful smile.
"Well, I guess we just wait now!" Nancy declared as she walked over to the chair next to Eddy's hospital bed, sitting down and crossing her legs.
--
It had taken four hours for the hospital to release him, what, with all of the forms and documents that needed signatures and passing around. A laundry list of restrictions were passed down to him, which he half-heartedly listened to, knowing his mother would be able to recite them like a biblical scripture. Eddy knew he should have taken the restrictions more seriously, but at the moment, he was too excited to finally get to go home.
He had wanted to ride with Kevin, knew that the Alpha and him needed to air out some differences; reconnect in a way of speaking. He had wanted to spend time with his Alpha, enjoy the pampering a little more. He also knew he wanted them both to live and still see each other, and a bitter mother was not the way to go.
He, instead, rode home with his mother. It had been a tense, awkward ride, his mother constantly taking little digs at Kevin every chance she got. He kept his mouth shut, he didn't want to start an argument; besides, some of the things she mentioned weren't entirely untrue.
As soon as the car was parked in the driveway, Eddy quickly exited the vehicle, his blue eyes watching as Kevin's vehicle pulled into the adjacent driveway. Eddy stood there, a smile on his face as Kevin exited his own vehicle. He took a few steps towards him before Eddy's mother snatched her son's arm, tugging him towards the house.
"It's best if you go, Kevin," she said coldly, her tone leaving no room for arguments, "Eddy needs his rest."
With that, Nancy tugged her son into the house, Eddy watching forlornly as Kevin was lost to the outside world, just beyond his home's threshold. Eddy heaved a heavy sigh, his arm tugging free of his mother's grasp. Eddy turned away and walked over to the couch, plopping heavily into the overly used cushions.
"Eddy," his mother started as she wheeled his small luggage across the floor, setting it next to the door leading to his bedroom, "I don't want you seeing Kevin anymore."
"Mom," Eddy grumbled, fed up and annoyed at everyone seeming to make decisions for him, "He's the father of my baby."
"A deadbeat more like it." Nancy fired back, her eyes narrowing slightly, "And don't tell me that's untrue."
"Stop! I know Kevin hasn't been there much…" he had started to say, only earning a scoff from his mother as she walked over to him.
"Hasn't been there at all." Nancy mumbled, her tone taking that motherly role, "He hasn't been to a single doctor's appointment."
"He was with me the entire time I was in the hospital." The omega growled, feeling his frustration take a sharp turn into anger.
"That he put you in!" Nancy hissed, her teeth clenching as her memories became plagued with images of her son becoming a former shell of himself.
"Mom," Eddy began, a hand running through his disheveled locks.
"No, Eddy! He's bad news!" his mother ranted, her tone pitching slightly as she allowed her anger to bleed through.
"Mom! Stop!" Eddy whined, annoyed that the one person he had counted on was tearing apart the relationship he was trying to repair.
"No, Eddy. He can support the child financially; maybe get custody every now and then, but you don't need to be with the man who knocked you up!" Nancy lamented, her hand resting on her son's shoulder as she tried to get him over to her side.
"You're such a hypocrite! You're with Dad!" Eddy pointed out, his frame abruptly standing from the couch, his voice pitching in his anger.
"That's not the same, Eddy." His mother whispered almost venomously, eyes hard and unreadable.
"Is it though? He shits on his own kids; face it! I'm never going to be good enough for him!" Eddy started, his arms gesturing wildly as he spoke, feet starting to pace to release some of the pent up anger, "He treats you like a dog… and you let him!"
"Your father has been through every stage of your life with you!" his mother hollered, she too standing in the face of her frustration.
"That's a load of bullshit. He did the bare minimum until he finally found his way out. I presented as an omega and he washed his hands of me." Eddy growled, his emotions going haywire and that oppressive scent of hurt omega prevailing in the air.
"Eddy…" his mother hushed him, her eyes filling with sorrow, her lips pursing into a frown.
"No, Mom! Stop! You defend him all the time, and. Every. Single. Time. He has proven you wrong." The omega teen screamed, face flushed with anger and unsuppressed resentment, "I don't want my child to feel like I do now: a complete and utter failure."
Nancy went silent, her heart aching as she watched her youngest son struggle to keep his composure, the deeply repressed anguish rising to the surface despite his best efforts, "Eddy I don't want that for you either."
Eddy let a few sniffles, hands furiously wiping away wayward tears as they slipped from his eyes, "I just want my baby to feel loved and wanted, by both of her parents."
"Oh, Eddy." Nancy said softly as she walked over to her son, pulling him gently against her in a hug, mindful of his pregnant swell hiding beneath a baggy hoodie, "I'm so sorry that you ever felt that way."
She leaned down, placing platonic kisses to those black tresses, a soft sigh leaving her, "I want the best for you and the baby; I'm just so worried that Kevin will, pardon me, fuck up… and we'll back at the hospital, praying you pull through."
Eddy took a deep breath, filling his lungs to capacity, before blowing the air out, his eyes looking up to his mother's, "I know you're worried about me, and I appreciate it. But Kevin is my mate, the only one I want…"
Eddy shifted uncomfortably, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment once more, "I… I love him."
"Eddy," it was his mother's turn to whine, clearly not happy with her son's confession, "Just… just be careful, okay?"
Eddy swallowed down the rest of his tears, a bright, beaming smile pulling his lips upwards, his head nodding in agreement. Nancy sighed before she walked towards the kitchen, seemingly pacified for now.
"If he hurts you again, there won't be enough people in this town to find his body." Nancy said lightly, though her voice carried a dark and dangerous edge to it. Eddy gave his mother a shaky smile, trying his best to ignore the unprecedented shiver that crawled up his spine.

30 weeks
He felt hot lips on his, a sly tongue slowly poking through to trace invisible patterns against the soft caverns of his mouth. That tempting being stole his breath, left him gasping as he pulled away to spill sin across his neck to his shoulder, hot tongue ever-so-faintly tracing the divots and scarred lines of that precious mark.
They were alone, at long last, days spent craving each other, yet always so far apart. Eddy's mother kept them separate, her devotion refusing to allow the Alpha another chance at tempting the omega in their time old song and dance. Yet she failed to realize that absence makes a heart grow fonder, as they say.
Eddy and Kevin burned for each other, the teasing little moments they shared only made the searing yearning almost unbearable. When one ember grew dull, the other took it upon themselves to ignite their lover into a raging inferno. It was always so memorizing to see just how brightly one burned for the other.
The shudder he felt crept up the entire length of his spine, blossoming outwards into a shockwave of pleasure, that delicious tingling feeling coming to rest in the tips of his fingers. He used those same fingers to concoct a sympathy of lascivious passion. Their voices mingled, danced together in an erotic harmony as they sought paradise in each other.
Eddy gave a lingering gasp, the overwhelming feeling of his body stretching to accommodate Kevin. It was intense, yet so perfect, his voice giving way to his lustful love, his Alpha's name slipping from his lips like a forgotten prayer.
He could feel those endless emeralds gazing past his surface, boring directly into his exposed soul. He should have cowered away, covered up to some degree, but instead, he pulled his Alpha deeper.
Those sinful lips left marks that burned, scorched skin darkening under the intimate assault. It left him wanting, left him begging for more, his cries of erotic pleasure echoing through Kevin's own being.
His Alpha growled, low and possessive, his perfect canines finding his seal on Eddy's being, points sinking in to spark endless ecstasy in his omega. It brought them both to euphoria.
Kevin's hips rocked with his, endlessly seating himself in the wet walls of Eddy's perfectly willing body. It was slow, methodical; a tango that forced that wave of pleasure through every pore, their very cores quivering under the intensity.
It was good, too good… and by Gods! he didn't want it to stop. His Alpha took him high upon their shared intimacy, his inner omega latching onto that dangerous beast lurking beneath Kevin's appearance. His being busy weaving the threads of fate together, concentrating in forever linking them. He would have, his own enameled teeth sinking in to the hilt, mouth awash with that molten fire, their two halves forming a whole.
Yet, Eddy held back, not for him and most certainly not for the jock, no; he wouldn't consciously endanger their shared creation. His body weak, the incomplete bond pulling him beneath the murky surface into a sea of exhaustion. Make no mistake, Kevin belonged to him, and him alone, but he would not risk a dangerous drop in his frail condition.
Instead, he allowed his Alpha to please him, carve his name in pleasure into his entirety: mind, body, and soul. His Alpha delivered, sinking into his depths to spark an endless inferno of desire, sweet little praises spilling from his lips as he chased his heaven.
Kevin moved, his large, bulky frame twisting its position, his hips rocking deeper, pulling louder cries from the pleasure drunk omega. A leg over his shoulder and the jock was leaning forward, his hips sinking deeply into those wet, sensitive walls, his own voice humming his gratification.
Lips met, tongues dancing as their hips moved faster, the omega shuddering as each spear of his Alpha's manhood brought pinpricks of intense ecstasy to his quivering cervix. It was so sensually intoxicating, this dance they shared; he never wanted it to end.
But they were closing in on their shared paradise, the rhythm of their tango quickening, salacious curses falling upon the thrum of passion. He was gasping, his body unable to catch his breath as his Alpha tipped him over, his widespread euphoric pleasure bleeding into the sensation of that wound up ecstasy exploding.
He touched his heaven, his body arching into his Alpha like a string pulled taunt. He cried his Alpha's name, blessing their union with his singing praise. One… two… and his Alpha followed, strong arms pulling him closer, his very essence spilling into the already occupied womb, his own guttural hiss seeping effortlessly into their shared tune.
They collapsed simultaneously into the sheets, their bodies gasping as they slowly came down from their shared high. His Alpha rolled to lay behind him, that wonderful cock still spearing him open. A sloppy meeting of wet lips, pulling away to stare into their chosen, their one and only.
"Are you okay?" came the whispered question, his hands steadying his omega. Voice lost at the moment, Eddy could only nod his head, his swelled frame twisted to better view his looming Alpha.
"You sure? You're trembling." Kevin provoked, his hips still snug against the omega's more petite one. Gasping filled his lungs with air, and with that he was able to answer.
"Yeah," he uttered breathily, his body sinking into the cool sheets below, "Just intense."
A chuckle, that deep sinful voice leaving Eddy aching again, his walls clamping down on the still trapped member of his Alpha. He could do it again, wanted to do it again, but he didn't want to appear whorish… No, no, he had a part to play. A part made difficult by the way Kevin pushed his still stiff member against the end of his tight cavern, tip kissing his womb.
"Kevin." He mewled, unintentionally, his walls pulling tighter, his natural lubricant slicking their movement. His Alpha hummed, those intense greens watching his every shuddering movement, his broad hips rocking against his as that thick manhood held him open.
"Can you go again?" that dark whisper spoke of tempting promises. A thrust, a grind, and Eddy was crying once more.
But a quick hand silenced their beginning rhythm, Eddy taking a couple of swallowing breaths before he muttered, "Only if I can top."
The sheer carnal need that pierced through Kevin had him groaning his approval. He pulled back, body leaving that welcoming warmth as he turned onto his back, propped up by a mountain of pillows.
Eddy moved, getting to his knees, his hand gifting yet another pillow to place on the ever growing stack. His Alpha leaned back, his dark eyes raking over his frame with wanton hunger. A beckoning, bold and taunting had the omega spreading himself over Kevin's hips, body grinding down to greedily suck up any pleasure.
They kissed again, tongues dancing wildly together. Strong, calloused hands cupped his pert nipples on his blossoming breasts, fingers sensually twisting and pulling. He pulled away and let his head tip backwards, a mewl leaving him as his sensitivity washed a lingering painful pleasure through his core, those nipples readying to nurture life.
Retaliation, a hand firmly pumping the already stiff cock, enjoying the way his own slick eased his efforts. A deep moan swallowed before lean thighs heightened, hand holding his Alpha steady before he slipped down onto him, seating him completely in one go.
That rocketing thrill bloomed once more, his voice unable to hide his pleasure as he moved, hips rolling and rocking into Kevin's. He was left a miserable wreck, mouth agape in heavy moans, abused lips forming perfect vowels as he took his fill.
He wanted to be rode hard, left a dripping mess afterwards, the sheer imagery making him all the hotter. He couldn't bounce, not like he used to, not with the added weight, but his Alpha had compensated, his cock spearing deeper, pushing harder, pounding at all the best of him, leaving him breathless.
Their breath mingled, voices pitching in a tuneless song as they climbed once more toward lewd ecstasy. They both wouldn't last, not with how sensitive they were, but each willing participant sought to make their dance longer, extending the rhythm over and over if need be.
His Alpha quickly brought him teetering on the ledge and then left him there, that wonderful cock just missing his sweetest spot. A whine escaped him as Kevin kept him wound up, but refusing to let him snap. It was so deliciously torturous.
So he played dirty, his slick walls clamping down impossibly tight, drawing a hitching breath from the red head, those dark eyes glowing with challenge. His cocky smirk pulled lips back, as he hilted himself, leaking head pressing directly against the omega's spot. A grind of hips, a loud cry and he was spilling over again, unexpectedly.
He would have liked to wipe that look off his Alpha's face; instead, his lover pushed him gently onto his back, a pillow propping his hips. Then Kevin took his own fill of pleasure, leaving him a sobbing, moaning mess, as his sensitive walls were battered with quickening thrusts.
The lewd sounds of their coupling, along with the jock's carnal need to sate his own desire, had Eddy burning all over again, so wet and wild. He could do nothing but lay on his back, fists clinging to the sheets as Kevin used his body for his own pleasure, rocking him with the power in those thrusts.
It was ecstasy, it was euphoric… it was too much and not enough. The silent room filled with his cries for more, for harder, faster. The wonderful erotic symphony of their bodies moving together in the act of sinful lust played beautifully to his ears.
Yet, despite the lustful desire driving that thick length deep into his shuddering frame, sweet little nothings came from his lover's lips, whispered so hauntingly into his ear, as if they were meant for him, and him alone.
Lingering kisses left electric shocks in their place, the feel of teeth grazing his skin left behind a tingling sensation. It was all so beautiful, so overwhelmingly good that he found a moment of clarity on their bout of lust.
This wasn't sex or some senseless desire to sate their more devious sides. This wasn't an act of selfish chasing of one's own peak into paradise… No, this was a dance, bodies moving together to drive the other wild. This was absolute, soul-searing pleasure brought about by pure love.
They were making love.
The realization brought tears to his eyes, his ocean pools gazing wondrously up at his Alpha, watched as he slowed his hips to a snails pace, pushing harder, deeper; aiming to see him succumb to ecstasy once more. His arms reach up, fingers lacing together at the nape of Kevin's neck, pulling his mate to him.
Foreheads pressed together, eyes interlocking as they slipped closer to their end. A rough snap of those broads hips, cock head pounding his sweet spot and Eddy was seeing stars, mouth opened in a pornographic moan as he clamped down. He whispered up Kevin's name as he felt that cock seat itself before the familiar warmth of hot seed filled his body.
Shared shuddering breaths left them quaking, their time back down long, but pleasant. Kevin kept his weight off the trembling omega beneath him, though he kept himself buried in that wet heat.
Lips descended, pressed tightly against the gaping ones below, pressing a soul-sucking kiss to his younger lover. They both pulled away panting, chapped lips brushing over abused ones before the Alpha pulled back, his body held up by his shaking muscles.
Smoldering greens looked deeply into blistering blues, a lopsided smile on his lips as he sat back on his knees, his appetite of longing sated for the moment. He gently left that wonderfully tight warmth, a hiss falling from both of their lips at the shared sensitivity of it all.
Kevin collapsed onto the twisted sheets, his arms reaching out to pull that tantalizing omega closer. He buried his nose if the soft black locks, lungs deeply inhaling that scent of sweet spice. A hum of contentment rolled through his chest, the vibrations sending a shiver up Eddy's spine.
Limbs entangled as breaths mingled, the duo falling away into a sea of wonders.
--
Eddy rolled onto his back, a groan of discomfort leaving him as that all-too-familiar feeling of a distant discomfort pulled him from sleep. Agitated eyes opened, a hand cupping his soft swell as he quietly rode out the false contraction. It only ever lasted for a handful of seconds, most of the time, but it was still incredibly inconvenient, if not outright tiresome.
Once that feeling passed, the omega gave a grumble of incoherent words, before he shifted back to his side, fully prepared to fall back to sleep. He would have, if his infernal alarm hadn't decided at that time to pierce the air with its obnoxious wailing.
"Damn it." Came the mumbled curse as a fist fell upon his device, tight eyes blearily blinking open looked at the glaring red numbers. It was early, far to early to be awake, in his opinion, but the omega pulled himself from his position, cautiously sitting up as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
"Fucking school," the teen muttered as he climbed out of bed, his frame pausing to stretch muscles, eyes glancing forlornly back at his blanketed nest. A sigh slipped from his lips as he forced himself into his adjoining bathroom, the shock of the cold, linoleum floor sort of soothing to his swollen feet.
Shower, potty, and get ready; maybe not in that order necessarily, especially with the way the baby was already dancing on his bladder. Okay then, potty first, then shower, and then get ready; seemed easy enough, if his body hadn't been weighted down by bone-deep fatigue from the absence of a full mating bond while simultaneously growing life.
What used to take a handful of minutes, now took nearly an hour to accomplish, his movements slowed and somewhat stiff. Many breaks throughout each activity had the seemingly simplest of tasks take ages to complete. He hadn't been very pleased about that, and, on particularly bad days, he had vociferously let his Alpha know.
Once semi-put together, Eddy meandered over to his desk, hands snatching up his laptop and turning to heave himself up his numerous stairs. Ocean eyes cast one last longing look at his disheveled bed before he left, those soft sheets and thick comforter calling his name.
Eddy made his way to his kitchen, an unoccupied hand flipping a switch as he went. He rummaged around for something to eat, though nothing appeared to be satisfying enough for his craving. He wanted salt and vinegar chips, those zingy chips just zapping his taste buds with just the right amount of delicious salt and zesty vinegar. He ate the last of them last night before bed, leaving him frustrated the morning after. A frown pulled at his lips, as he rummaged through the cabinets, pantry, and fridge alike, looking for something that would hit the spot.
'Nothing. Figures.'
With a heavy sigh, Eddy left the kitchen empty handed as he walked over to their soft couch. He sat down, making sure he would be comfortable enough to spend a few hours in that position, before he plugged his laptop into the charger next to the sofa. Over the past few weeks since returning home, Eddy made a small sort of throne at the left end of their old couch: it was soft enough to feel comfortable but not enough to where he sank in; it was near a window, close enough to feel the warm sun, but not positioned to where he would have to deal with the blinding glare.
He had to since this ended up being the second place he spent most of his time. After all, he was on modified bed rest and the only way he could continue with classes was online. Both a blessing and a curse: sure he got to finish schoolwork in his own time, for the most part; but, at the same time, he was left with his mother as company most of the time.
'Hurray…'
With a moody sigh, a conscientious roll of his eyes, he opened his laptop and waited impatiently as the archaic thing booted up.
'Would it kill the school to get better equipment? Honestly.'
Once his laptop was finally booted, Eddy set about logging into his needed program before he looked over his roster for the day. One of the unique things about his school being designed entirely for and about the omega second gender, was that it offered expecting parents classes on various subjects. His school week consisted of four days of regular academics and one day of parenting classes. He was only enrolled in the latter when the school learned of his condition. It was helpful, but some of this stuff was a little… much?
Eddy winced slightly as he noticed one of his lessons was a video about the wonders of birth. Yes, he was closing in on his due date rapidly, but he would really prefer to remain blissfully ignorant.
With a groan of disgust and a mental curse toward his absent Alpha, Eddy started his lessons for the day.
The wretched cry the omega on the screen gave as he pushed with his contractions, baby crowning as the video showed, had Eddy violently closing his laptop in a desperate bid to end that disturbing imagery.
'Nope. No! No thank you.' Was all Eddy could think as he sat the device aside, a shiver coursing up his spine. With a swallowed heave, Eddy peeled himself from his couch for the first time in hours. A quick bathroom break and Eddy was back in the kitchen, digging deeply into everything to find something that would appeal to his growing hunger.
A loud groan of frustration had Eddy glancing at the clock, his expression brightening when he saw that Kevin should be getting out of school. Perfect! He'll just make his Alpha buy him some food.
Eddy grabbed a can of soda from the fridge, popping the top and savoring the sip he took. He did his very best to limit his caffeine intake, but, seriously, that stuff had sustained him for years. It was a very hard habit to break.
Eddy waited for his Alpha back on the couch, his thumbs aimlessly swiping though his content on his various social media profiles. It helped him keep up with what was happening with the various kids from cul-de-sac; besides, it also kept him occupied.
A chime of his doorbell echoed loudly in the eerily silent house and before Eddy could shout 'come in', the front door was opening, Kevin walking through the threshold, a bag of something in his hands. Eddy flashed him a beaming smile as the jock made his way over to the seated omega.
"Hey," Kevin uttered as he swiftly bent down to place a chaste kiss to Eddy's lips before plopping right next to him.
"Hey." Eddy answered, his attention captured on the small gift bag in Kevin's hand, "What'cha got there?"
Kevin leaned heavily into the cushions of the couch, his head falling back to rest on the back as his eyes slipped closed. His hand lifted, depositing the small bag into Eddy's lap, "It's for you."
"Me?" the omega asked confused, his eyes raking over the clearly exhausted Alpha, "What is it?"
"It's a gift, dork face." Kevin laughed, his shoulders shrugging as he peaked his eyes open to look at his omega.
"A gift? From who?" Eddy said as he reached for the small bag in his lap, hands pulled intricately tied strings apart to open the bag.
"Jimmy." Kevin said as he watched Eddy. The omega shot him a dumbfounded expression, so he elaborated, "He caught me just before leaving school. He mumbled something about not having a baby shower before awkwardly pushing that into my hands. Then he just left."
Eddy gave a thoughtful hum as he pulled out the soft tissue paper, his hand reaching inside to pull out the contents. It was a all-in-one set of a pacifier, clip, and case. The color was a natural tone, and the design itself was nothing fancy, but it still turned Eddy into a blubbering mess.
"Eddy? What's wrong?" Kevin asked as he quickly gathered the crying omega into his arms. Eddy shook his head, quickly wiping his tears as he smiled at Kevin.
"Nothing. Just wasn't expecting this." He gave a wet chuckle as he turned the gift over in his hand.
"What do you mean?" Kevin asked as he pulled back, taking the pacifier set from his omega and looked it over, but found nothing of significance.
"Kev," Eddy said, drawing his Alpha's attention, "this is the first thing we've gotten for the baby."
It took a moment before those words sunk in, Kevin's face shifting to surprise before he, too, gave a soft smile, "I guess it is."
Kevin placed the gift on the coffee table, his arm slung over the back of the couch as Eddy rested against his side. Silence prevailed as the couple soaked in each other's presence, quietly enjoying the company. It was broken first by Kevin.
"Have you thought about that, at all?" the red head asked, his frame shifting so they were both more comfortable.
"Thought about what?" the omega asked as he shifted his head to look upwards at his Alpha.
"A baby shower." The jock said, a casual shrug following, "Did ya want one?"
"Huh…" Eddy said as his face scrunched up in his thinking, "Never thought about it."
"Okay, so, do you want to have one?" Kevin prompted, his arm coming off the back of the couch to wrap around the omega's shoulders. Eddy fell quiet, his mind firing rapidly before he gave a defeated shrug of his own shoulders.
"I dunno… Who would we even invite?" Eddy asked, a frown on his lips as he tried to think of people he could potentially invite; sure Ed and Double D, but who else? It wasn't like he was friends with the rest of the kids from their neighborhood.
"Well, the Eds I guess. Rolf… maybe Johnny?" Kevin started, his tone thoughtful as he listed names, "Our families, obviously."
"Well, if Ed came, then, by default, Sarah would come, which means Jimmy would too." Eddy said, his hands making confusing gestures as he tried to indicate point A to point B.
"Why the hell would Sarah come?" the Alpha asked, obviously skeptical.
"Because… Sarah doesn't trust Ed to go somewhere unchaperoned, ya know, in case he makes trouble." Eddy said, a look of 'duh' on his face as if it were the most obvious reasoning. When Kevin still looked confused, Eddy sighed.
"Remember how he was when he had a pebble in his shoe?" questioned Eddy, tone matter-of-fact as he watched a shadow of PTSD wash over the teen's face, "Or the day we put him in that costume and boom! Suddenly attacking everyone cause he thought he was a monster?"
"Don't remind me!" Kevin hurriedly shushed the omega, his hand slapping over the younger teen's mouth, "Okay! I get it… Sarah and Jimmy."
Eddy licked the Alpha's hand over his mouth, who looked at him with a mock face of disgust as he pulled his hand away and wiped it on his black, cargo shorts. The omega simply smirked at him.
"Johnny equals Plank." Eddy said, exasperation in his voice. Everyone had thought the melon head would have grown out of that by now; sadly, they were all mistaken.
"Yeah… no. Definitely not." Kevin said with a roll of his eyes. Johnny had been an okay friend growing up, but his relationship with that piece of wood had become outright disturbing over the past few years.
Eddy's stomach took that moment to remind the omega that he was famished as it gave a loud, rolling grumble. Kevin shook his head, slightly amused.
"Food!" Eddy yelled, his mind getting off the baby shower train to focus entirely on satisfying his hunger.
"What do you want?" Kevin asked, his smile still on his face as his young lover began to salivate at his many cravings.
"Pizza… no, hamburgers. Wait I want something salty… Oh! Oh! Chocolate!" Eddy rambled as different things popped into his head suddenly. Kevin laughed, finding the omega both amusing and adorable.
"Oh! I know!" Eddy cried as he smiled wide, sparkling eyes turning towards Kevin, "Jawbreaker!"
Kevin let himself laugh heartily at that, even as Eddy pouted in turn. The jock couldn't help it, though, but did his best to try and stop… at some point.
"Somethings never change." The jock finally wheezed out as his laughter began to die. Eddy flipped him the bird with an overly emphasized roll of his eyes.
"Baby wants a jawbreaker." The young teen threw out there as he childishly stuck his tongue out at the Alpha.
"Okay, okay. I'll buy you one, but you have to eat real food first." The Alpha said as he dug into his pocket, pulling out a quarter, "Heads we'll get pizza, tails it's burgers. Good?"
Eddy gave a thumbs up, watching as the athlete flipped the coin. Anticipation built as the quarter smacked onto the coffee table, spinning for a moment before rocking on it's face as it began to settle.
Heads; pizza it was then.

32 weeks
He hated this, every second of this, his body shuddering under the judgmental stares thrown his way. He did his best to ignore it, but it still made him overwhelmingly uncomfortable: people looked at him more like he was a walking, talking statistic than an actual human being.
His cheeks flushed red, body feeling hot and cold at the same time, as he meandered around the store, eyes kept on a constant down low. The mumbled whispers weren't so quiet when they failed to hide their lips. Eddy frowned, a dark look of shameful embarrassment clouding his face.
"Oh! Eddy!" came the far too excited feminine voice as something was handled and then held up for his viewing, "Look at this one! It's adorable!"
Eddy looked up from the dirty, carpeted floor of the store they were in, glaring eyes glancing over the tiny infant dress his mother had in her hands. He said nothing, his eyes gazing back down at the ground.
'Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!'
It rang like church bells in Eddy's mind, the name calling echoing off the confines of his own self-conscious. He was a fool, an absolute fool; he had worn normal clothes, like a normal person. He forgot that he wasn't normal, that he wasn't just some graphics chart in a book somewhere.
The swell of his baby bump was visible, like an eyesore, purposefully put on display for attention. Attention he was getting and none that he wanted; all judging stares and sneering words. He should have hidden under a thick layer of baggy clothing so no one could see what a failure he was; what a miserable wretch.
Oh! Yes, please, Karen! Not so quietly whisper to your friend how you would utterly ashamed to be his mother… The injustice! A lowly teen so very obviously pregnant and alone; utterly disgraceful.
He wanted to shout back, to rage in the face of their disapproval; but what would that solve? Seemingly nothing, in fact, it would only reinforce the negative image he was branded with. He would be just another bratty teenager, throwing a tantrum because things weren't going his way. Moody. Defiant. Disrespectful.
So he kept his eyes on the ground, not out of submission or admittance of guilt, but because he didn't want to devour the people around him with the rage burning through his veins. It was better to berate the floor quietly than to systematically tear down every bystander near him.
His lungs greedily sucked in a deep breath in am effort to soothe fried nerves, it did little to help, but it made him appear as if he was trying. He absentmindedly followed his mother around the store, briefly glancing at the items she cooed over. Cute, indeed.
With that sentiment prevailing, Eddy focused less on the oppressive atmosphere around him; instead, he quickly tried to latch onto his mother's excitement. He watched as the woman pulled out another little dress, this one seemingly more formal looking with a squeal of delight, instantly shoving it at Eddy to view.
"Don't you think it's a little… fancy?" asked Eddy, an eyebrow raising in question. His mother puffed her cheeks in a huff, quickly replacing the tiny gown back onto the rack it came from.
"Well, Mr. Grumpy Pants, you have yet to give me an idea of what you like. Or want, for that matter!" his mother said, her plump frame circling one rack judgmentally before moving onto another.
"I'm not…" Eddy withered under the look his mother shot him, "grumpy." He finished quietly, barely an audible mumble. The woman snorted his disbelief.
"You've been stomping around with a look of Hell's Fury on your face!" she said, a hand gingerly lifting Eddy's downturned face,
"You just need to ignore all of these washed up hasbins," she stopped, her eyes glaring around at some of the milling gossipers, "and just focus on finding some things for your baby." She finished sweetly.
Eddy stood in stun silence for a moment as his mother turned back to rummaging through one of the racks, a happy tune being softly hummed from her vocals. He watched as several of the older patrons scrunched their noses in distaste before storming off, while others went back to their own shopping.
"Oh! This one!" his mother called, her hand holding up a mostly white dress with a blue, ornate pattern on it with a matching set of bloomers. Eddy smiled, it was beautiful, but it still seemed a bit much.
"Um… Shouldn't we be looking at… I dunno, simple outfits? What do ya call them… One piece?" asked Eddy, receiving a hearty laugh from his mother.
"A onesie; and, yes, we can look at those too. But there's nothing wrong with buying cute clothing as well." Nancy said as she put the tiny gown back, looked through the handful in that row, before seemingly selecting a size she found suitable, placing it in her hand basket.
"Well, I really don't care what the stuff looks like, as long as the baby has clothes." Eddy answered, finally pulling away from his mother's side to browse a rack on his own.
"That's because you sadly lack your mother's tasteful style." Nancy said rather sadly, her head giving a shake as she dabbed at the corner of one of her eyes. Eddy looked offended for a moment, before he laughed softly.
"Yeah, well, we can't all be as posh as you." The omega said with a shake of his head.
"Yes. Tragic really." His mother immediately replied, taking a moment to look disappointed before both mother and son broke out into a fit of laughter.
They spent another hour browsing the many racks of baby clothes, picking out several onesies of various designs, a couple of cute dresses (at his mother's insistence, of course) as well as several other small baby needs.
After they had checked out and were comfortably seated in his mother's car, Eddy finally revealed to his mother that Kevin and him were toying with the idea of a baby shower.
"That would be a wonderful idea, but where could we hold it? You know your father…" his mother stopped softly, not wanting to upset the still hurt omega on that very touchy subject.
"Umm… Kevin's house, I guess." Eddy said nonchalantly with a shrug of his shoulders. His mother made a disagreeable hum as she still held several reservations about the red headed Alpha.
"We can always rent a little event space." Nancy said thoughtfully, though Eddy gave her a doubtful look.
"You really think Dad's gonna pay for that?" Eddy asked despondently, eyes glancing off in the distance as they drove home.
"He won't; I will!" Nancy said forcibly, eyes catching her son's as he turned to look at her, "I work too!"
"You'd really do that?" the omega asked, a little watery as he fought back tears.
"Of course! I would be happy too!" his mother loudly exclaimed, a bright, beaming smile on her face when she looked back at Eddy, watching him briefly brush away a few stray tears.
"Okay. I'll talk to Kevin." Eddy said quickly, a bright smile pulling his own features.
--
"Alright, we have your family, my family, Ed, Double D, and Rolf… Anyone else?" Eddy asked as he looked down at their guest list they were putting together. Kevin shrugged his shoulders, not really knowing anyone else to invite besides, well, Nazz… but he was fairly certain that would be a disaster in the making.
"Oh! Don't forget your brother!" Nancy chimed in from the kitchen, where she had conveniently placed herself, 'dutifully' attending to a pot of stew for supper. Eddy blanched, a grimace washing over his face.
"No! Absolutely not!" Eddy remarked, a sneer crossing his features as he thought of the last time he encountered his older brother. A happy memory it was not.
"Eddy…" Nancy began, her tone disapproving but Eddy loudly cut her off, adamantly refusing to invite his tormentor of many years. Eddy's mother sighed, disappointed… She really wanted her children to come together, but she did understand Eddy's point of view. Terry had been an absolute nightmare growing up, especially to his younger brother.
"He's gonna want to meet his niece at some point, Eddy." Nancy softly iterated, watching as a dark scowl settled over Eddy's lips at the very thought, "I'm just saying." She finished softly, a defeated sigh ringing from her lips as she took to stir the pot on the stove.
"Yeah, well, he can kiss my ass unless he grovels at my feet for forgiveness." The omega grumbled, feeling, more than hearing, his mother's disappointment, but he wasn't going to change his mind, not so easily. Kevin gently rubbed his back to soothe his ire, earning a small smile from Eddy as he looked over to his Alpha.
"So that's it for the guest list? We're done?" Kevin asked, getting an affirming nod from his omega, "Cool. So are we gonna feed these people or just give snack trays?"
"Huh… Good question. Mom?" Eddy stated, quickly looking over to his mother for an answer.
"Obviously we're gonna feed everybody. I don't want to appear cheap." Nancy said rather haughty. Eddy looked doubtful as he expressed his concerns about the mounting cost.
"Don't worry, Eddy; I've already set aside a nice budget for your shower. It won't be a lavish buffet, but I'm sure I can finding substantial to serve." The woman said sweetly as she walked over to the couple on the couch.
"What we need to figure out is how to do the gender reveal." She said with such emotion that Eddy felt slightly bad for saying no.
"We already know it's a girl." Eddy argued, his mother haphazardly brushing aside his argument with a wave of her hand.
"Yes, but no one else knows." Nancy said as she forced the couple to move down the couch so she wouldn't be next to Kevin.
"No, that's just dumb. They'll find out by the pink, girly decorations." Eddy stated in a no nonsense tone, leveling a challenging stare at his mother as she sat down.
"But it's my first grand baby!" Nancy cried, her lips actually pouting as she was, again, denied.
"How about this," Kevin interjected, "We get a cake and can do the reveal that way. It's not extravagant or whatever, so you both get your way."
Nancy fell silent, giving the thought a long pause before she nodded, "That seems acceptable. Eddy?"
The omega teen gave a long suffering sigh before begrudgingly agreeing. Nancy gave a bright smile, pulling her son to her in a side, one armed hug in gratitude.
"Good. I'll get the invites sent out as soon as possible. Kevin," Nancy said, her person addressing the Alpha by name for the first time in many weeks, "you'll get me the addresses of those you wish to invite?"
"Yes, ma'am." The jock answered, shocked at being spoken to like an actual person since his omega got out of the hospital.
"Oh, you." Nancy said bashfully, a handing waving off Kevin's address of respect, "It's Mrs. Reese." A clipped tone and the act was dropped, her hard eyes staring down the Alpha with a degree of aloofness. She stood from her seat and walked the small distance back into the kitchen, not another word said.
Kevin huffed irritably, wanting so badly to tell the woman to shove it, but out of respect for the carrying omega next to him, he bit his tongue. Eddy gave him a small smile, clearly sensing the Alpha's rising ire. A quick peck to the jock's cheek had Kevin's temper extinguishing, the jock quick to capture Eddy's lips in a passionate kiss. Eddy hummed happily, enjoying the slow, sensual kiss. Kevin opened his eyes, making sure to glance pointedly over at Nancy as he swallowed a quiet mewl from the wanting omega.
Her face had been utterly priceless, and he ended up with an icy, cold treatment from her the rest of that day.
So fucking worth it.
