Chapter 16

Wednesday.

Ryoto was at Toji's bright and early. He merely knocked once on the door, before he could even get ready for the second tap, Toji was there, shoved Megumi into his arms, the baby bag and said. "Don't return until seven tonight. NO ONE should be coming here, spread the word." And closed the door.

"Okay, wow…" Ryoto muttered as he peered to Megumi. He was all smiles and bouncing with excitement. "Yeah, you know it's rice ball day don't you?" he laughed.

"Umph! Umph!"

"I'll take that as a yes, okay then, let's get ready and enjoy our day!"

Needless to say, Marcy came along with them.

Ryoto, Marcy and Megumi went out on the town, they had fun and ate lunch. Marcy thought it was adorable that when they ate, Megumi would take a bite out of his rice ball and then offer it to Ryoto. "Aw, he's sharing!" she cooed.

Ryoto snickered. "No, he's not. This is his way of demanding more soy sauce," he laughed. In his bag he brought an eye dropper, it allowed him to give Megumi the perfect amount of soy sauce for his rice ball. He gets a drop on each of the corners so there is perfect flavor. It's the only way Megumi eats his rice ball!

After lunch, they went for a stroll in the park. However there was something troubling Ryoto when they took some time to relax for a bit.

"URP!" came out of Ryoto.

Megumi… laughed.

"This is worrying me…"

Marcy giggled to his burp but was curious. "Why is this worrying you? You only burped"

"Yeah… and Megumi laughed. He doesn't laugh at anything according to Yuuji. He doesn't have much in the way of humor, and yet… a simple burp does the trick… what is worrying me is when he breaks out of this and returns to normal… is he STILL going to laugh at a burp?"

Marcy didn't see the concern. "I thought you would be more worried about him burping… I've seen you try to teach him… it doesn't help that Rook got in on that too."

That was just last week; the two were just having fun to see who could burp the loudest. Rook somehow won that one, and yet Megumi had a look of determination on his face. He wanted to be part of this no matter what! He is already regretting the seeds he sowed here.

"Well I better make sure that I don't go overboard with this, we can't have Megumi hating me after hating my dad right?"

Marcy growled a little. "Don't you dare compare this to that" she said in a warning tone. "If anything, you have done exceptionally well with Megumi, so what if he learns to burp. Big deal, he will actually start acting a little human."

They snickered to this, thankfully, Megumi was asleep after his giggling.

"It was weird today, Toji had passed his son off in a hurry… are he and grandma Tiamat…"

She giggled and yet shook her head no to the notion. "My brothers overheard them a few days ago. They were talking about another timeline that grandma likes to watch. It's similar to a human soap opera but this sounds rather ranchy. And by the way they spoke of it, your aunt sounds like a tyrant!"

He paused to this. "Aunt Yua a tyrant?!" he said in disbelief.

"I didn't get anything more since they got spotted. Grandma told them to never do that again or else! That's enough to scare them into submission."

"Other timelines huh? I have wondered about those myself too. I mean, this cannot be the only world out there. As well what one choice a person makes, there needs to be a way for the other choice to be picked and played out, right?"

"I think that's the whole notion of the timelines. I am curious too, grandma is particularly hooked on this one right now due to the constant chances and shocking twists."

"Yeah, Toji said that Kenjaku was a sex toy… and not a good one"

She giggled and nodded. "Indeed. Perhaps it is best we don't know about that timeline…" she said.

He fully agreed, and yet, he wondered if he exists in other version of this world. But then again, he feared what would be the true timeline of his father… if he got his way as well, everyone he killed… and those who were never avenged.

Or the fact that his father had no redemption… no willingness to change… or care to do so…

"Ryoto?" Marcy said gently.

"Just thinking, you know forget about other timelines, I will just focus on the life I have here and now." He said proudly.

She nodded in agreement. They stayed at the park for a while longer until Megumi woke up. He had a bottle but there came a look on his face. "Is it just me, or does he look determined about something?" she asked.

Ryoto peered at Megumi his face serious as he looked to be working on a burp. "I don't like that look, we better get him back home if he is going to let it rip."

"Why?"

Ryoto smirked. "If your have heard Rook, he can rattle windows. If Megumi is looking to beat that… we cannot accept the consequences for his actions in broad daylight!"
