Hadley's POV
I walked downstairs seeing the werewolves that hadn't sold themselves to the witches for daylight rings that I brought here to seek refuge all mulling about as I walked into the kitchen for food/blood as I was slightly hungry and I didn't really like feeding off Klaus' human slaves that he brought in for himself but the fridge was empty of blood bags and of course Klaus was nowhere to be seen for him to get me more...I let out a small growl as I shut the fridge and saw the coffee pot full so I grabbed it and poured myself a cup since I remember Caroline saying something about it curbing the cravings.
"Brother!" I looked up at the sound of Elijah's voice yelling in the courtyard. "Niklaus!" I scoffed at him yelling since seriously we could all hear him.
"You do realize that literally everyone here has supernatural hearing, right?" I questioned him as I walked out.
"Where is my brother?" he asks me and I roll my eyes.
"Oh I'll just...I'll check his calendar" I pretended to pull out my phone. "Wait no, I'm not his wife so..."
"Hadley this city is under siege by an army of beasts following my deranged mother's every command, now considering it was your people who just declared war on my kind perhaps now's not the best time for your particular brand of sass" I shook my head at him annoyingly.
"Klaus left a while ago, if you want to find him I can't help you" I finally told him. "If only there was a magical device that people use to call people" I held up my phone. "I don't know I'm out of ideas, good luck" I scoffed rolling my eyes again at him before I turned to leave but what he said about the werewolves made me stop. "One more thing Elijah, those beasts that you're referring to they may be under Esther's control but like you said they're my people so if you hurt them your bitch mother will be the least of your problems" I narrowed my eyes to glare at him before I finally walked off leaving him behind returning to my coffee.
I headed to my room pulling out a map of the bayou from my desk and unrolled it seeing a lot of 'X's crossed off and glared down at the sheer number of them as for months I have been searching that bayou for any sign, scent or trace of Jackson and Hayley but they'd vanished and it worried me with the amount of werewolves that had teamed up with the witches and it seemed like the ones that didn't were here so that left me with nothing but questions on where they were.
I don't know why I cared enough to find them especially since they took off without even letting me know that they were leaving, if they were even together or given me so much as a call to ask how I was so I angrily closed the map and put it away in its hiding place in the bookshelf in my room before I walked out onto my balcony looking down at the festival below having no idea why New Orleans were celebrating this time but there was always something in this town which was more annoying now than ever as it was times like this when i was left alone to stew over everything this town has brought into my life.
"Hadley" I turned at the voice and my eyes widened when I saw Oliver behind me and he wasn't alone.
"Oliver what are you doing here?" I asked walking towards them. "Who is this?"
"Names Aiden" the stranger introduced himself before i turned my head back towards Oliver.
"We need help Hadley" he stated making my frown deepen. "Finn is going to make the kids trigger their curses tonight" he explained and my eyes widened since that was insane.
"Tonight's a blood moon, he's making a ritual about it" Aiden added.
"Their kids, that's insane why would he be doing this"
"He wants to strengthen our numbers but it's not right" Aiden replied and I nodded my head.
"We're going to need help" I sighed out loud before turning my head back and forth between them. "You need to trust me" I added and they shared a look before i saw Aiden nod then they both turned towards me.
"That's why we're here Hadley" Oliver replied and I nodded before leading the way out since if we were gonna have any chance at rescuing these kids from the curse then we were gonna need strength and I had no idea where Klaus was so we were going to need the second-best thing and that unfortunately is Elijah and I knew he'd be at Marcel's compound.
I drove us to Marcel's compound and walked in not expecting to find Elijah with one of Marcel's vampires, Gia who had her hand deep in his chest so I called out and they both turned towards me as if caught in the act of something more but I didn't say anything as I met Elijah's eyes.
"We need to talk" i stated walking down the stairs, right as Aiden walked out and followed me down the stairs with Gia immediately going into defense mode but Elijah held his arm out in front stopping her from doing anything. "We're not here for a fight, just hear him out" I explained as Aiden walked down the stairs sharing a look with me before he turned to them, I know he's been one of the werewolves under Esther that had been giving the vampires hell so this was gonna be hard but these kids were more important than the feud right now.
"Speak, I suggest you be succinct" Elijah stated getting Aiden's attention.
"Please, I need your help" he replied and you could feel the tension in the room.
"It's your mother Elijah, she's getting Finn to make kids trigger their curses" I explained since Aiden seemed too intimated to do so, I saw Elijah's face change at that news and it wasn't long until we were joined by Oliver, Josh and Marcel as this was gonna take everyone we had to save these kids
"The witch wants soldiers, so now it's either join up or pay the price" Aiden explained Esther's plans.
"I've known my brother to be merciless, I'll admit this exceeds even my expectations" Elijah replied and i frowned.
"They're just kids" I stated then turned to Marcel. "Marcel, you know the Quarter like the back of your hand, if anyone cna get them out of here it's you"
"And take them where?" he asks making me frown.
"There are still wolves deep in the bayou" Oliver suddenly inputted making me turn to him with wide eyes since I hadn't found any, a sudden thought of Jackson and Hayley popped into my head but I pushed it down since now was not the time. "One's that didn't take a ring, they can look after them"
"The ones who never sold out, you mean" Marcel cut in making me frown since was that really necessary, true maybe but not necessary.
"If you wanna look at it like that, that's fine" Oliver stands his ground turning to him. "We did what we had to do"
"You wolves have been fighting us for decades" Marcel scoffed. "Why trust us now?" he asked sharing looks with the vampires of the room.
"One of the recruits is my little brother" Aiden spoke up after a few moments of silence. "There's no way I'm sending him to war" I saw the look on Marcel's face as he turned to Elijah who made a move towards us.
"Tell us what you need?" he stated and I let out a sigh of relief as we begun to come up with a plan to rescue these kids from the clutches of Finn before the moon rose tonight.
"Alright, the kids are being held in the City of the Dead until we bring them through the Quarter to St Anne's Church, now meanwhile Vincent is holding a meeting with a few humans in-the-know, the ones who have been...reluctant to fall in line with his new leadership" Aiden explained Finn's plan.
"He's going to use the children to kill any opposition" Elijah says in realization and Aiden nods.
"Activate their curse, send a message to anyone who's thinking about going against him, it's two birds, one...bloodbath"
"Okay, so we'll hit them while the kids are on the move" Marcel comes up with an idea.
"Aiden, make certain you and Oliver escort the children, we'll handle the rest" Elijah adds.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait, Esther and her psycho son are already giving me the stink-eye, if these kids go missing on my watch, I'm as good as dead" Oliver protests this plan.
"You wanted to help your people and make amends for the past, this is your chance" Elijah replies and i frown since that doesn't mean we let Oliver take the fall and die for this.
I let out a sigh as I stood in waiting watching the All Hallows Eve party is still raging on in the streets of the Quarter with everyone is in costumes right as I saw Aiden, Oliver and the other werewolf leaders walk the werewolf children toward St Anne's Church then looked across the Quarter seeing Marcel and nodded before I got myself into position.
"You take the kids, split up and find them!" I hear Aiden command.
"Listen up, listen up we gotta go, don't ask questions just move!" Oliver whispers and claps his hands to get the kids attention. "Come on!" I watch from my hiding spot as Oliver leads the children through the Quarter but he stops short looking around.
"Ollie this way!" i quickly call out and immediately see a relieved look on his face as he turns towards me and quickly ushers the kids behind us to follow through an alley and into Rousseau's, where Josh is waiting and he opens a door hidden behind a cupboard in the kitchen.
"Go ahead" Josh urges the kids inside before turning to us. "It's a passageway from the Prohibition days, it'll take us pretty much anywhere we want to go"he explains before he crouches down and enters the passage after the kids, before I follow behind him as Oliver shuts the door, Josh leads the way through the tunnel then pushes the metal gate open at the end which makes a loud creak before he exits and the kids follow him out with me in the rear.
"Hey, where's Marcel?" Josh asks Gia who has been waiting for us.
"Uh, he's getting the getaway car" I rolled my eyes at them.
"Hey big-mouths shut it!" I whisper yelled towards them. "There are werewolves everywhere" we quickly lead the werewolf children to Marcel, who is waiting with an ambulance he is using as a getaway vehicle.
"Let's go, move!" Marcel says gesturing to the children and they quickly pile into the back of the ambulance, as Marcel helps them up, the last boy is about to get in when Aiden arrives.
"Nick!" he calls out and the boy smiles so I'm guessing this one is his brother.
"Aiden, you made it!" the two hug.
"Of course I did, I told you I'd be here, didn't I?" Aiden replies and pats Nick on the head before he gestures for the ambulance "Go" the kid quickly loads in before marcel and I close up the ambulance, I turned and saw Aiden and Josh give each other a look before Aiden walks over to Marcel.
"Thank you" he says before he turns to look at me. "Both of you"
"We're both fighting for the same thing, you know" I state since this is all we need, is to all work together. "Just trying to save the ones that we love" Aiden smiles right as Marcel claps Aiden kindly on the shoulder before going to get in the driver's seat of the ambulance and I join him before Marcel starts the ambulance and we leave.
After we safely got the kids to safety with the werewolves I returned to Marcel's apartment, with Gia and Marcel who pours drinks for us all while i sat a little depressed as I'd secretly been hoped I'd see Jackson and Hayley with the werewolves tonight but they hadn't been there.
"Well, we did it" I stated taking Marcel's offered drink.
"I never thought I'd see the day when 'we' meant us" I smiled up at him.
"Well you're a vampire now, first rule is never say never, 'cause never ain't that long and what we did today was the right thing but you know it's gonna make things worse between your people and mine" he states
"There's a life lesson for you, baby vamp" I say as I look over to Gia, who is staring out the window. "It always gets worse before it gets better" I grab a second drink and walk over to sit next to her on the window seat handing Gia a drink but she still looks worried.
"We left Elijah out there" she states and I frown letting out a sign since this girl clearly has feelings for Elijah.
"Trust me, he can take care of himself" I smile at Gia, who smiles weakly back before I pull out my phone checking it hoping to see some kind of message from Klaus as I still haven't heard anything from him all day and it was beginning to worry me so I can understand her concern for these damn Mikaelson brothers.
A/N: After a long hiatus' I'm back, hoping to be able to continue writing again.
