Chapter 1 : Learning
His observation of the creature led him into a cave where similar creatures like it existed.
Despite the various differences in their sizes and their features, they all had white substance covering their faces and their eyes red.
They all carried the energy of destruction.
And they all were of the wolf type species.
The moment he arrived into their home, they stared at him.
The younger, smaller ones looked at him in wonder whereas the older larger ones looked on silently.
It seemed that they could sense that he was not truly from this world.
Then this would be his next step.
Ensure that he would be considered a native to this world.
Even if he truly wasn't.
In order to fulfill his purpose, he has to learn how to live like a native.
During his stay near the den he learned two valuable things.
One, the smaller, younger ones were more eager to come towards him and liked to sit near to him. They were also quick to move when there were sudden sounds near the cave.
Two, the older larger ones were opposite of the younger smaller ones.
They were wary, watching him from afar.
Few came towards him and despite the various noises outside, these ones seem to know exactly what was going on.
Then there was one such sound he heard.
It felt like the same sound when he stepped on a twig while coming here, and the large wolf beside him began to howl.
But it was so low to hear that he looked around and noticed the other large wolves were doing the same.
He saw a small crowd of wolves consisting of both young and old immediately run out of the cave and into the forest.
Whatever they were doing was something he needed to see.
And so he ran after them, following them close behind.
The wolves, however ignored him and kept moving on, some even disappearing and using shortcuts to get away from him.
He however stopped every once in a while as he stared at the inhabitants of the forest that were scurrying around trying to hid themselves when the wolves came.
It didn't matter because majority of the wolves ignored them except for the young ones.
One particular small animal, with a bushy brown tail and large black eyes with a brown coat of fur was surrounded by the young ones.
Memories presented it as a squirrel.
As one particular haughty wolf opened its mouth and presented its large shiny teeth to the poor animal, a loud gruff from an old one nearby stopped it from going any further.
The young ones started to leave from that place and the offender looked upset but the old one stayed staring back into the other's eye.
After a few minute, the young offender left leaving the squirrel alone and the old one did not even bat an eye at it.
The little animal immediately climbed up the nearest tree and went to the top of the branches where it hid.
Suddenly a loud howl was heard nearby followed by shouts and then some ear deafening noise as the ground shook and the leaves rustled.
And then there was a new scent. A scent of something burning.
He did not know what was happening but he knew he had to check it out.
It was at that moment he could feel something within him, something that wanted him to run somewhere else.
Something that was beating inside him.
But he had a mission. A task to accomplish.
And this would aid in his mission.
So he ran to where the loud sounds was coming from, the place where growling and unfamiliar shouting was heard. The place where more and more ear-deafening sounds were being produced.
As he ran closer and closer to where he could feel the heat and destruction and smell, he could feel something beating within his body.
The moment he stepped out of a bush and into the clearing, he saw one of the younger wolves heading towards him, with an expression etched on its face.
A face of….
He could not hear after that.
As he laid on the ground and dirt filled his vision, he could feel his ears ringing and some shadowy figure standing beside him.
The figure seemed to be standing upright next to him and some sort of light flashed into his vision.
As he began to register dizziness for the first time, the terrible headache began to subside and he began to see something stretched out to him.
It was a hand.
A human hand, something similar in shape, size and material as he had now and that it was open towards him.
Upon instinct he grabbed onto it and was pulled up.
Something was said.
He could somehow feel it as he saw the man's lips opening and closing.
His ears were shaking for some reason so while he tried to look around his surroundings he noticed someone else stand further from them.
A pile of black dust disintegrating from their feet.
The companions he followed were all gone, and right in his eyes, he saw that someone lift up one of the younger ones by imitating a chokehold onto it, into the sky and lightning struck it, causing black dust to explode out of it.
As he tried to focus more on his surroundings, the sound of lightning blasts and gunshots returned and he could finally hear what was around him.
The stranger beside him walked towards the one who lifted up the poor wolf minutes ago.
Even in the dark night and stormy weather, the expressions of those cold dark brown eyes watched him as if he was some sort of prey and he felt a sort of feeling that parts of his back began to feel cold.
"Hey, your side done ?"
"I'm finished old man, what about you ?"
"Well I was just about done… but looks like we found a survivor of a sort."
